** It's also worth noting that while Hammond will make two more appearances in Season Ten and the film ''Continuum'', those are really alternate timeline/reality versions of Hammond (or spoofs in the case of "200"). So, Hammond's brief appearance here is actually the very last time we ever see the 'real' Hammond in ''SG-1'' before the death of Don Davis in 2008.

The trope is now a disambig.

As the Prior plague continues to spread at an alarming rate on Earth, Mitchell and Daniel travel to the Sodan world in the hopes of capturing a Prior alive and obtaining a blood sample using the experimental [[Recap/StargateSG1S9E10TheFourthHorsemanPart1 anti-Prior device]] developed by Carter and Lee. Meanwhile, Carter and Orlin continue to work on a cure for the plague, while Teal'c and Bra'tac come up with a risky plan to make Gerak renounce Origin before he turns the Jaffa High Council in his favor.
----
!!"The Fourth Horseman, Part 2" provides examples of the following tropes:
* BaitAndSwitchComment:
-->'''Haikon:''' If your intention is to convince me to withdraw support from the Ori, you need not bother...
-->'''Mitchell:''' You're making a big mis--
-->'''Haikon:''' ...I've already decided as much.
* BittersweetEnding: The plague is cured, but Gerak is dead, Orlin is left permanently brain-damaged and the Ori show no hint of stopping their invasion.
* BreakingSpeech: Orlin tries to give one of these to the Prior Damaris, using his Ancient knowledge to prove that the Ori have no intention of ascending their followers. It mostly falls on deaf ears.
* CommutingOnABus: General Hammond puts in a brief appearance at the SGC to confer with Landry and give the team a pep talk following his speech in the [[Recap/StargateSG1S9E10TheFourthHorsemanPart1 previous episode]].
* ContinuityNod: Bra'tac reminisces about the Jaffa [[Recap/StargateSG1S8E17ReckoningPart2 successfully capturing Ba'al's fleet]].
* DarkestHour: Lampshaded by Hammond on finding a very dejected Mitchell, Carter and Daniel at the briefing table.
-->'''Hammond:''' It's always darkest before the dawn. My uncle used to say that all the time; he was a wedding planner.
* AFatherToHisMen: Landry demonstrates this when he insists on making the time to speak with the infected personnel, even with everything else he has to deal with.
* FrontlineGeneral: Landry personally escorts Orlin to the Sodan world so that he can talk to the Prior. This turns out to be a bad idea when the Prior infects him with the plague, however.
* HeroicSacrifice: Orlin keeps working as long as he can to help the scientists develop a cure for the plague, [[NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished which leaves him permanently brain-damaged, stuck in the body of a child and unable to remember anything about his former life as an ascended being]].
* IDieFree: Teal'c says this while challenging Gerak to shoot him, in order to remind him of his roots and make him realize that the Ori aren't what they claim to be. Later echoed by Gerak himself as his FamousLastWords:
-->'''Gerak:''' If I help you, I will die... [[PunctuatedForEmphasis But I! Will die! Free!!]]
* InvisibilityCloak: Mitchell uses one of the Sodan cloaking devices to try and sneak up on the Prior.
* KillMeNowOrForeverStayYourHand: Teal'c pulls this on Gerak to reach the part of him that hasn't been corrupted by the Ori.
* KilledOffForReal: Gerak.
* NeverHurtAnInnocent: Jolan and Haikon tell Mitchell that the Sodan turned against the Ori after the Prior instructed them to wipe out a world of "unbelievers" who turned out to be simple farming folk.
-->'''Jolan:''' We went to the planet as the Prior instructed, two hundred-strong to eliminate any threat. We were expecting an army. What we found were simple farmers, too naive to understand the consequences they faced for daring to defy the Ori.
-->'''Haikon:''' The Sodan are proud warriors. We do not kill innocent people.
* NotSoDifferent: Teal'c repeatedly tells Gerak that by following the Ori, he's basically replacing one false god with another.
* NotSoStoic: Lam's icy facade begins to crack after Landry is infected.
* ThePlague: The Prior plague continues to spread, with cases emerging in Mexico, Canada and Europe.
* PowerNullifier: Mitchell and Daniel test out the anti-Prior device developed by Carter and Lee in the [[Recap/StargateSG1S9E10TheFourthHorsemanPart1 previous episode]]. It works, but only for a limited amount of time.
* PsychicStrangle: Damaris attempts to do this to Mitchell, but is interrupted by Daniel turning the anti-Prior device on.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Gerak gets hit by this, pulling a HeelFaceTurn and curing the plague victims at the SGC only to burst into flame due to a physiological failsafe put in place when he was turned into a Prior in case he ever defected.
* SeinfeldianConversation: Mitchell spends several minutes talking to the captured Damaris about his favorite omelette recipe while waiting for Landry to arrive with Orlin.
-->'''Mitchell:''' It's a Norwegian cheese, I think, spelled with a G or a J. Maybe both. "Juggerhaust"? "Gujerhaust"? Something like that. So anyway, what you do, you dice up the cheese, you toss it in with the egg whites, then you chop up some avocado, put it all together... Whoa, daddy, you got yourself a wicked omelette. ''(Sees Landry approaching)'' General! We were just exchanging recipes.
-->'''Landry:''' I heard. Has he offered up anything?
-->'''Mitchell:''' No, sir. The man doesn't even have a decent pie crust.
* SelfDestructMechanism: It's revealed that the Priors have a built-in failsafe which prevents them from turning against the Ori without spontaneously combusting.
* SideEffectsInclude: Mitchell and Daniel riff on this after they get the anti-Prior device working.
-->'''Daniel:''' That warm, fuzzy feeling you're experiencing may the effects of a device that's inhibiting your ability to concentrate and focus your powers.
-->'''Mitchell:''' Symptoms may include dizziness, irritability--
-->'''Daniel:''' Nausea--
-->'''Mitchell:''' Mild nausea, and a condition known as "hotdog fingers".
* ThatsAnOrder: Landry orders Lam to get some rest, to which she replies that he hasn't ordered her to bed since she was six years old.
* WithUsOrAgainstUs: Teal'c invokes this in order to force Gerak's hand, making him choose between the Jaffa and the Ori.
