* BothSidesHaveAPoint: Sheppard and Ronan's argument about Michael and the Retrovirus. John is right that the Expedition ''had'' to try the plan (especially considering how out-manned and outgunned Atlantis is by the Wraith and needing every and all advantages). But Ronon is likewise correct that he had vocal misgivings about the Retrovirus from the beginning and those fears have been more than borne out between the events of "Michael", "Allies", "No Man's Land", and "Misbegotten". Now more people are dead again because of Michael and the Expedition ''still'' won't accept or admit responsibility for this mistake.

* MysteriousPast: Invoked by Teyla, who observes that ultimately they know nothing of Michael life's or history prior to the Expedition capturing him. Based on their observations (Michael's experiments, how fast he got them up and running), Rodney and Teyla both speculate he may have been a Wraith scientist (and possibly one of their best).

* NeverMyFault: Played with during Sheppard and Ronan's argument over taking Michael alive late in the episode. Sheppard is unwilling to outright concede the Michael situation was a failure and argues the Expedition ''had'' to try the Retrovirus Plan anyway. Ronan, by contrast, reminds Sheppard he was against the Plan from jump and angrily feels John (and Expedition) ''won't'' take responsibility and accept they unleashed a monster on Pegasus.

** DroppedABridgeOnHim: The Taranians had been previously seen in "Inferno", where their homeworld was destroyed by a exploding Supervolcano. In retrospect, those people were probably the ''lucky'' ones...
