Try to imagine a female officer with a difficult upbringing and poor social skills dealing with a male suitor who won't take no for an answer getting treated the same way. (And as it happened, Sisko once observed a similar situation and dealt with it by punching the male suitor in question.)

** This is downplayed if anything. There is no indication that Lwaxana intended to force Odo to do anything he didn't want. The anecdote about the sleazy ambassador wasn't told as a parallel, but to show Lwaxana had better character and intentions underneath her actions. Odo's initial discomfort with Lwaxana ultimately had less to do with her than his personal insecurity. He thinks Lwaxana's interest in him amounts to "Odo, be a razorcat." When Lwaxana tells him she would throw a party designed purely for his enjoyment, she lets him know she sees him as a person and that she truly cares about his feelings, and he begins to build a rapport with her. Odo admits as much in his speech to her in "The Muse." Lwaxana finally earns Odo's trust by showing him her own vulnerability and admitting she has insecurities of her own, allowing him relief from painfully forcing himself to remain solid.
