!!Japanese Title: ''Pikachu, What's This Key For?''
!!!Original Airdate: July 19th, 2014
!!!US Airdate: February 2nd, 2015
After Dedenne finds a mysterious key, Klefki takes him, Pikachu, Froakie, Fennekin, Chespin, and Hawlucha to a whole new dimension with various {{Pocket Dimension}}s unlocked by the keys it has. Naturally, Meowth, Wobbuffet, and Inkay sneak in after them.

* AbsenteeActor: Bunnelby, Fletchinder, and Pumpkaboo are not involved in this special.
* AmbiguousTimePeriod: The episode is set somewhere between when Hawlucha is captured, and when Froakie evolves into Frogadier.
* BadlyBatteredBabysitter: Pikachu goes through a few slapstick injuries trying to keep up with Dedenne.
* DangerousKeyFumble: Meowth gets the key to open the keyhole back to the real world before it's too late. He stumbles, leading all the other Pokémon to go after it. Pikachu finally gets it after another HairTriggerAvalanche.
* DimensionalTraveller: Klefki leads the group to a new dimension with various key-shape motifs. It also has other "rooms" unlocked by various keys it has.
* HairTriggerAvalanche: Chespin causes one to Klefki's key collection when he throws a spare key up onto it.
** In the ice room, Tyrunt and Pikachu cause a few when they get into a tussle.
** A third happens during the DangerousKeyFumble.
* HeelFaceTurn: After Pikachu helps Tyrunt down from a tottering cliff, it returns the favour and saves them from a falling chunk of debris. The two groups are showing playing happily with each other for the rest of the short.
* HelpImStuck: Chespin gets stuck by his head pins on multiple occasions. Meowth also gets his head stuck in a hole in the credits sequence.
* {{Keet}}: Keeping with its species, Klefki gets ''very'' excitable at the sight of keys.
* LaterInstallmentWeirdness: The dynamic between Meowth and the other Team Rocket Pokemon plays out pretty much opposite to how it did in "Island of the Giant Pokemon", right down to the trio lurking in the bushes like in said episode and all agreeing to stalk Pikachu.
* RidingIntoTheSunset: Team Rocket's Pokemon do so at the end when returning to home base.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: When Meowth and his group enter the flame room, and come face to face with Darkrai, they leave quickly.
* ShoutOut: In the English dub, a relieved Meowth chants [[Film/TheWizardOfOz "There's no place like home."]] repeatedly when the Pokemon return home.
* SolidClouds: One room has Pikachu and Dedenne bouncing around on rubbery clouds.
* TerribleTrio: Downplayed. Meowth, Wobbuffet and Inkay are portrayed as troublemakers, but only sneak around to find treasure and cooperate with the heroes during the climax, failing to cause any real harm.
* TongueTrauma: Tyrunt's tongue gets poked by Chespin's head spikes, and later his entire mouth gets electrocuted by Pikachu.
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: It turns out Klefki's keyholes do not last forever, limiting the amount of time Pikachu and company have to play there.
* TreasureHuntEpisode: Turns into this for Team Rocket's Pokémon. Meowth translated Klefki as saying one of its keys led to a room full of treasure.
* ATwinkleInTheSky: Meowth, Wobbuffet, and Inkay are blasted off by a Wailord in the water room.
* WhosOnFirst: Both Wobbuffet and Inkay's Japanese pun names mean they perfectly fit the role of [[YesMan Yes Men]] to Meowth. In''kay'''s at least isn't LostInTranslation.
