She asks Asuka where Shinji is, and she answers that he has been sulking in his room ever since he came home. "If he doesn't want to see his dad, why doesn't he just say so?! She explains to him that the building is Shannon Bio, a chemical firm from overseas. 106 out of the 108 companies associated with the Marduk Institute have all been revealed to be fake, and now Shannon Bio makes the 107th. She hands him the company’s registration record. On that list, the names of the board of directors include Gendo Ikari and Kozo Fuyutsuki among others like Keel Lorenz. Since the Marduk Institute is supposed to be an advisory body under the control of the Human Instrumentality Committee created for the purpose of selecting EVA pilots, Kaji concludes that something doesn’t add up. The woman reminds him that his sole task is to investigate NERV and getting involved with Marduk might be a bad idea. Kaji says that he can’t help it and that he’s the type that just has to find out everything.
