Using one of his inventions -- a boat that can shift into an automatic hydrofoil ship -- Jean successfully makes another escape from the Grandis gang, who are pursuing the pair in their multi-purpose tank, the ''Gratan''.

He takes Nadia to his aunt's house in Le Havre, but his grumpy, dour Auntie refuses to take Nadia in. Jean decides to take Nadia to his workshop in Le Havre, and she spends the night there.

All the while, Jean learns from Nadia that she wishes to return to the country where she was born. Unfortunately, she has no idea where it is, but her pet lion King suspects it might be in Africa. Jean decides to take Nadia there himself using his all-new aircraft, and they make yet another escape from the Grandis gang.

They do not get far, however, when the plane engine falters and the crafts plummets into the ocean.

* EvilDetectingDog: Well, Lion Cub, but close enough. It's King, rather than the Blue Water, who's the first one to realize the Grandis Gang are pursuing them on the Seine.

* RunningGag: Nadia becoming impressed and awed by one of Jean's inventions...only to watch it break and fail and express her disappointment. Rinse and repeat.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: As Jean is only 14, he's not as skilled an engineer compared to Hanson and thus his devices have a higher chance of failing.

Considering this is the late 1800's, there was still very poignant colonialism practices in Europe. So, Auntie's reaction towards Nadia is not as surprising.

* UnexplainedRecovery: Hanson manages to get ''Gratan'' back in the field pretty quickly despite the damage it sustained from the crash mere hours earlier at the end of the Pilot.

* NeverLiveItDown: Grandis is ''not'' in a good mood at the beginning of the episode. If you were professional thieves and you'd been humiliated and outwitted by a bunch of children in the previous episode, your pride would be stung too.

* PoliceAreUseless: Implied by the ''Gratan'' crashing in the middle of Paris and the French constabulary somehow being unable to detain them or impound the tank in-between the first and second episodes. Then again, if Hanson got it back into action quickly, and with tank's nautical mode, the Parisian cops may not have had a chance to get the Gang in time.
