Stephanie, Mayor Meanswell's niece, arrives in Lazytown for the summer. She meets other kids--the game-addicted Pixel, the candy-loving Ziggy, the mischievous Trixie, and the spoiled Stingy--but notices something odd about them and the entire town. Nobody likes to play or have fun outside!

Stephanie resolves to change this and engages the kids in a game of soccer, but she's interrupted by the meanest, laziest person in town, Robbie Rotten, who wants to ensure [=LazyTown=] lives up to its name. He successfully stops the others from playing with Stephanie, but she learns from her uncle that there was once a hero of [=LazyTown=] who always helped out when people were in trouble. Stephanie decides to reach out to him, and Sportacus arrives in his airship. He's not the guy with a 9 the Mayor remembers, but as a slightly-above-average hero, Sportacus is willing and ready to help the children have fun and exercise. Robbie attempts to stop him, but traps Bessie Busybody instead, and after rescuing her Sportacus feels it'd be best to stick around [=LazyTown=] a while longer, to everyone's joy.
