!!Tropes of this episode include:
* CluelessAesop: "Bye Bye Nerdy" is ''dreadful'' to watch for this reason. Bloo freaks out that his creator is a nerd. Mac takes the correct stance - he doesn't care whether he's cool or not. Cue "Jamez Withazee", the self-designated coolest kid who thinks this makes Mac cool. What happens for the majority of the episode is the self-deprecation of Mac, who now only cares what "Jamez" thinks, and must idle around doing nothing. However, neither character nor viewer realize until the episode's end that "Jamez" [[JerkWithAHeartOfJerk horrible world-view of thinking]] that not caring is cool, extends to [[LackOfEmpathy other people's health and well-being as well]]. Mac comes to his senses, and goes to help Bloo, but not before being mocked by "Jamez" and everyone else for being uncool. "Jamez" and his admirers are never called out, or punished, for this.
* CorruptedCharacterCopy: Of [[Film/RebelWithoutACause Jim Stark]]. While Jim was shown to be a TroubledButCute NiceGuy who happened to have a cool image. Jamez is shown to be a JerkWithAHeartOfJerk who believes that "not caring is cool."
* KarmaHoudini: Jamez was not shown to be punished for mocking Mac for being a nerd and prompting his followers into doing the same.
* NegatedMomentOfAwesome: Mac's RousingSpeech to all the kids who were making fun of Bloo and sticks up for his best friend and says how he doesn't care about what's cool and what's not, he thinks it's okay for everyone to be themselves becomes this when everyone laughed at him and called him a nerd afterward.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Mac revealed that at the beginning of the episode he was serving detention for shooting spitballs in class — a very Bloo-esque behavior.
* RebelRelaxation: James Withazee is shown leaning against walls and such as part of his "cool" mannerisms.
* TotallyRadical: Parodied. Bloo, under the belief that Mac is a nerd, tries to teach Mac to be cool. This involves making him dress in a fashion that is years out of date (as in, from explicitly 1987), watching totally-radical-in-their-own-right juice commercials, and looking at boy bands (which were already becoming outdated). When Mac goes to school and does what Bloo says, he becomes the laughing stock of his school.
