* WhamLine: "This ends ''now!'' [[NeverSayDie Goodbye forever, Fanboy!]]"

* LaserGuidedKarma: In the first shot of the lunchroom scene, Kyle finds a "charm to summon a griffon" spell and imagines the victim to be Fanboy. Much later, it's ''Kyle himself'' who's the victim, as Fanboy uttered the spell out loud as a result.

* HeyYou: Fanboy never told Kyle his name, but he somehow knew it near the end of the episode.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: This episode is very different from the rest of the series; the boys are OutOfFocus until the very final scene, almost focusing on Kyle the whole time. In addition, Kyle's attitude is slightly more malicious than later appearances, and Fanboy and Chum Chum seem more clueless. The usual bouncy transitional music also doesn't play at all, and the whole episode is set at the school. This is also the only time Kyle seemed to kill the heroes with will, only to be stopped at the very last second.

* HoistByHisOwnPetard: When Fanboy is occupied with Chum Chum stuck to him, Kyle proceeds to use his own spell to take them out - but right before he can do so, the great griffon from the spell Fanboy recited takes him away instead.

* SnapBack: Mr. Mufflin takes away Kyle's wand and refuses to give it back until the end of the year, but Kyle has another wand with him later on.

* ForWantOfANail: Fanboy reads the griffon spell out loud to him, and he gets taken away right before he shoots his fireball. Had not Fanboy read that spell, then he and Chum Chum would've ''died'', based on Kyle's dialogue.

* DramaticIrony: The audience knows from the start that Kyle is a wizard, but the boys think he's pretending to be one.

* NearVillainVictory: Though Kyle's not really a villain, Fanboy reads the griffon spell out loud to him, and he gets taken away right before he shoots his fireball. Had not Fanboy read that spell, then he and Chum Chum would've ''died'', based on Kyle's dialogue.
