Malik tells Adam that they will have to land at his hotel instead because there is a riot near the Sarif Industries building, and that Sarif will meet him at the apartment.
Adam disembarks at the hotel and meets Sarif, who tells him that Picus is broadcasting that the company is "breeding super soldiers" and that Bill Taggart is at a nearby convention center holding a press conference urging the United Nations to investigate. Adam asks if it's true, and Sarif replies in the negative. Adam confronts him with all the evidence he gathered from Eliza, and Sarif responds that he had no reason to want the scientists dead because their research would have propelled the company to the top of the Fortune 500.
Sarif inadvertantly lets slip that there are other forces at work, and Adam demands to know a name. Sarif replies that they have many names, but are most commonly referred to as... ''[[AncientConspiracy the Illuminati]]''.
Adam is skeptical, but Sarif tells him that it's no joke. He contends that they were the ones behind the attack, as they wanted to stop the rise of augmentations. Adam tells him that Isaias Sandoval is involved, and Sarif orders him to find out information from Taggart and to do so carefully.
In the hotel lobby, Wayne Haas confronts Adam and reveals that he lost his job after letting Adam into the morgue. Adam smooths over the situation by contacting Sarif and asking him to give Wayne a job as a guard at the company, and the latter wearily accepts.
Adam then experiences sharp pains and software glitches on his way to the conference center. When he arrives, he flashes a VIP card Sarif gave him and enters.

He reveals to Adam that he was unable to remove the GPL implants and they are likely still broadcasting on a very low frequency. Adam convinces him not to [[DrivenToSuicide shoot himself]], and live for the sake of his family.
Afterwards, Adam tells Pritchard about the frequency, and the latter tells him to head to the apartment while he figures something out.
Adam heads back to his place and gets picked up by Malik on the roof to head back to the Sarif building. Once there, he heads to Sarif's office only to find Hugh Darrow sitting in the chair instead.
