Kaigaku's betrayal is a spoiler for the next arc.

** Gyomei, like many other characters in the series, was also an orphan, but he at least had a purpose in his life being a priest who took care of other orphans. That all changed when one of them (later revealed to be Kaigaku) made a pact with a demon to slaughter all the orphans in the temple in exchange for his own life, and when Gyomei managed to save one of them, the surviving orphan's inability to articulate what had happened led to Gyomei being wrongfully accused and nearly executed for his crimes until Kagaya saved him from death row and recruited him to the Demon Slayer corps.

* UngratefulBastard: In the past, Gyomei gave Kaigaku and the others a good life as a family. Except Kaigaku was a selfish coward who told a demon to go to the temple in order to save himself from getting killed by said demon, resulting in all of the orphans killed and Gyomei wrongfully accused. And it doesn't stop there! Kaigaku would eventually join the Demon Slayer Corps and learn Thunder Breathing under Jigoro's tutelage, but he betrays them, again in exchange for his own life, after encountering Kokushibo and becoming a demon himself.

Added example(s) I put some tropes in Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc recap, and feel free to add or fix tropes, thank you.

Added DiffLines:

* DisproportionateRetribution: Sanemi physically beats up Tanjiro all because he stood up, defended, and protected Genya from him.
* GentleTouchVsFirmHand: Tanjiro was the gentle touch to Sanemi's firm hand.

Added DiffLines:

* WouldHurtAChild: Sanemi tries to hurt Genya by attempting to poke his eyes with his fingers, but then Tanjiro quickly runs towards Genya and tackle him to the ground, safely protecting him from having his eyes gouged out by Sanemi. The two boys crash through the sliding doors into the outside garden, Tanjiro questions Sanemi for trying to kill his brother but the latter corrected him stating that he will only beat Genya until he no longer has the ability to regenerate resulting in his retirement from the Demon Slayers. In disbelief, Tanjiro defended Genya stating that he was instrumental in defeating the Upper Rank during their last encounter and declared that he will protect him from his brother who disowned him. Sanemi then turned to attack Tanjiro but Tanjiro was able to block his punch and counterattack. Once the brawl between Tanjiro and Sanemi started, Tanjiro requested Zenitsu to take Genya away with the latter chastising the former for involving him in the scuffle.

* FreudianExcuse: Upon hearing this, Gyomei noted how different Tanjiro is as to him, children are pure and naive, weak, quick to lie, completely fine with cruelty, and selfish little things, Gyomei then told Tanjiro his story about how he raised some kids who had no family in a temple before he became a Demon Slayer. Their affinity in having no blood connections helped them bond together very well and he raised them like his family, Gyomei wanted to keep life that way forever. But then one night, a kid disobeyed the temple rules and didn't come back after sunset and ran into a demon. In order to save himself, the boy told the demon to eat Gyomei and the 8 kids at the temple. The kid put out all the wisteria incense Gyomei burned as protection and invited the demon into the temple which resulted in 4 kids dying immediately. Gyomei tried to protect the other 4 but 3 didn't listen to him, ran and died, only Sayo (the youngest) listened and hid behind. In order to protect Sayo, Gyomei fought and punched the demon's head again and again until the sun came up. He was able to protect Sayo but when people came to help, Sayo who was only 4 years old that time got confused and labelled Gyomei a monster who killed all the children. As a result, Gyomei was imprisoned and charged with murder. If Kagaya had not intervened, he would have been executed and ever since, he had come to harbor deep doubts and suspicions that no matter how virtuous you are, once you get pushed into a corner, your true nature will come out. But Tanjiro never ran and stayed honest and never lied. Seeing as Tanjiro is a special child, Gyomei promised to help him so that Tanjiro won't take a wrong turn in life.
* [[Hypocrite Hypocrite]]: Sanemi becomes this to his brother Genya, he often insults Genya's abilities as a swordsman by ordering him to quit the Demon Slayer Corps for being lack of empathy, yet Sanemi is still a hashira as a Demon Slayer.

Tanjiro goes to see the Stone Hashira, Himejima, who intends to prepare him for the battles to come. The training to become a Hashira — a high-ranking member of the Demon Slayer Corps — is intense and demanding.

!!Tropes found in Hashira Training Arc:
* {{Cliffhanger}}: Muzan has found the Ubuyashiki Estate, and has met Kagaya.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Giyuu's sister Tsutako sacrificed herself to prevent Demons from eating him, which eventually led to him joining the Demon Slayer Corps.
* SurvivorGuilt: After learning that Sabito killed all the Demons in the mountain (excluding the Hand Demon that ended up killing him), Giyu didn't want to become the Water Hashira after thinking Sabito was the one suited to it.
* TrainingFromHell: Being a Hashira is no simple job, and it reflects accurately with the training Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke have to undergo.
