Having dismissed the Tibbles' advice, D.W. and Vicita go to Buster for help next, who tries to hypnotize Vicita into falling asleep, but ends up accidentally doing so to himself instead. When Vicita again laments the loss of The Very Magic Mango Tree, D.W. asks her what the book looked like, and she starts describing the book's pictures and story, making D.W. realize that she knows the book by heart and giving D.W. the idea to create a "do-it-yourself" replica of the book for Vicita. Arthur, D.W., and Vicita immediately start working on the book.

When Vicita again laments the loss of The Very Magic Mango Tree, D.W. asks her what the book looked like, and she like. She starts describing the book's pictures and story, making D.W. realize that she Vicita knows the book by heart and giving D.W. her the idea to create a "do-it-yourself" replica of the book for Vicita. Arthur, D.W., and Vicita immediately start working on the book.

Vicita and dreams that she, now wearing an AdventurerOutfit, and Raulito (who is a live TalkingAnimal in the dream, although still the size of a toy) are in the jungle from The Very Magic Mango Tree. The two immediately set out to search for the mango tree that Uaica is in, and ask a sloth for directions. Unfortunately, due to the sloth's slowness, Vicita and Raulito think that the sloth is pointing to the left when in fact he was in the process of moving his arm to point to the right, causing them to take the wrong turn and end up at another magic mango tree that keeps people awake, where they come across D.W. dressed like a dancer and dancing with a caiman, a monkey, a snake, and a macaw. When D.W. sees Vicita, she offers her a mango and tells her that the place is "kid heaven", as no one ever sleeps there, but Vicita declines the mango and tells D.W. that she and Raulito have to get to the sleeping mango tree before Uaica falls from it. In response to this, the macaw offers to take them to it; although Raulito is reluctant since, according to him, llamas don't like to fly, Vicita forces him to get on anyway, as they are running out of time to save Uaica. The macaw flies the two across the jungle and lands by a river, telling her passengers that the sleep tree is near where the river forks. Shortly after Vicita and Raulito get off the macaw's back, Raulito is taken and nearly eaten by a caiman that emerges from the river, but Vicita chases after it and manages to save Raulito in the nick of time, also finding a mango in the process. The two then hear a voice calling for help from above, which turns out to belong to Uaica; they've found the sleep tree. Vicita tells Uaica to climb down and eat the mango, as if he doesn't, she may never be able to sleep again. However, Uaica tells her that he can't because he's afraid of heights. When Vicita questions how he got up in the tree in the first place if that's the case, he responds that he doesn't know, but guesses that he didn't look down on his way up. Raulito encourages Uaica by pointing out that he's afraid of heights too, along with all non-stuffed animals, but that he faced both of those fears simultaneously by flying on a macaw to reach Uaica, successfully giving Uaica the courage to climb down. When Vicita offers Uaica the mango, he tells her he doesn't actually like mangos and asks her if she's got any magic papayas, but Raulito yells at him to eat the mango, which he reluctantly does and falls asleep along with the animals D.W. was dancing with earlier. Vicita rejoices at the successful mission, but then realizes that Raulito is missing and yells out his name, waking up Uaica and the animals.

At this point, Vicita wakes up from her dream and it's now morning. She panics over the loss of Raulito and calls for her papa. Mr. Molina hears her call and comes to ask her what's wrong, to which Vicita tell her she's lost Raulito. Mr. Molina then looks behind her pillow, where he finds not only Raulito, but also the original copy of The Very Magic Mango Tree. He offers to read it to Vicita that night, but she happily declines the offer, saying that the story is already in her head, "right, Raulito?". After Vicita and Mr. Molina leave, Raulito winks at the camera, revealing that he was actually alive the whole time.

TheTeaser has Arthur explain to the viewers what some of his friends do to fall asleep: Muffy counts sheep, Brain recites the number pi, and Buster does homework. D.W. then bangs on Arthur's bedroom door, yelling at him that his "talking to himself" is keeping her awake.

The episode proper begins with Vicita reciting a UsefulNotes/Language counting-out rhyme titled "Pata Sucia""Dirty Paw" to pick which one of her stuffed animals to bring to bed with her, and ends up with her stuffed llama, Raulito. In bed, Vicita's papa realizes that her favorite bedtime storybook, The Very Magic Mango Tree, is missing. Vicita and her parents search the house and the family car for the book, but are unable to find it. Vicita's parents stay up all night reading to her several other storybooks, but none of them help her fall asleep. Come sunrise, Vicita's parents have fallen asleep.

At preschool that day, Vicita is too tired to play with D.W. due to SleepDeprivation and tells her about the missing storybook and how she can't sleep without it. D.W. says she knows someone who can help, and the two girls go to Brain's house, where he shows them a pie chart depicting the sleep cycle. Vicita thinks that a "sleep cycle" is a bicycle you ride while asleep and points out how dangerous that sounds. D.W. calls out Brain for frightening Vicita, telling him he was supposed to bore her to sleep instead, and shoves him out of the room. On the preschool playground, the Tibbles tell Vicita that to fall asleep, she should do what they do: Timmy sings Tommy a lullaby while Tommy jumps on his bed, after which Timmy chases him all around their house. When D.W. points out that lullabies are supposed to make one fall asleep, Tommy responds that he and Timmy do fall asleep... once they've ran out of energy from the jumping and running.

That night, Vicita's papa reads the finished replacement book to her, which tells the story of a young boy named Uaica who runs into the jungle to escape from a GangOfBullies and falls asleep in a tree after eating a mango, having a dream about a creature named Jaguarman who teaches him the ways of the jaguar, causing him to no longer be teased by the bullies when he wakes up. * ShowWithinAShow: Or Book Within a Show, in this case. The Very Magic Mango Tree is a fictional storybook that is Vicita's favorite bedtime story.
* SluggishSloths: Vicita asks a sloth for directions to the sleep tree. Unfortunately, the sloth is so slow in his movements that Vicita mistakes the motion of it moving its arm to point to the right as it pointing to the left, resulting in her going in the wrong direction.
* TalkingAnimal: In Vicita' DreamSequence, her stuffed llama Raulito is fully animate and can speak. The same dream also features a talking sloth and macaw.
* TemptingFate: When Vicita and Raulito flight on a macaw's back ends, Raulito (who is afraid of heights and non-stuffed animals) assumes that the worst part of their quest must be over. Right after, he is captured and almost eaten by a caiman.
* UncertainDoom: Vicita's DreamSequence ends with her realizing that Raulito is missing. While it's never revealed where he went or what happened to him in the dream, the implication is that he was eaten by one of the wild animals in the jungle.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Raulito is afraid of both heights and non-stuffed animals, but ends up facing both of these fears to help Uaica.
