It's summer. Alfred is walking on a road when he meets a large -but apparently non-anthropomorphic- frog sitting in place, and stops to look at it. He wishes it good morning but it leaps away, so Alfred chases after it by imitating it's jumps.

Alfred arrives at Von Paljas' house, and the spaceship is in the backyard. The secretary immediately recognizes him and they greet each other. Alfred asks if the professor is there, and the secretary tells him to go right in. He goes to the door and calls out to Von Paljas, but is frightened by a loud crash from inside. Alfred bangs at the door in panic, asking if Von Paljas is alright and pleading for him to open the door. The door suddendly opens and Alfred's face smashes into Von Paljas' stomach. He jovially tells Alfred that everything is broken but Alfred can come in.

Alfred enters and sees eveything wrecked, the lamp hanging with it's other cable broken, and pools of unknown liquids on the floor. Even the computer is lying on the ground, screen broken. After a moment of silence Alfred quietly asks what happened, and Von Paljas pulls out a golf club from behind his back. Alfred disbelievingly asks if he used it to break all his expensive instruments. Von Paljas says yes and Alfred asks why, so Von Paljas elaborates that of course the ''intention'' wasn't to break things, the ball just happened to hit them. He swings the club right at Alfred's head but he ducks and starts yelling at Von Paljas, asking if he doesn't understand that you can't do golf swings in a room this small. Von Paljas says that he did understand immediately, right after he had already hit the ball. Alfred asks if he's taken up golfing and Von Paljas asks if it isn't good for your health, and Alfed agrees that's what people say. Von Paljas laughs and says that he's not thinking about his health now, and he actually has to learn golf because of his work. Alfred is confused and asks if that means he has invented something new, asking if it's a club that makes the ball fly farther. Von Paljas says no and Alfred asks if it's a ball that moves completely straight, but Von Paljas says no again. He explains that a certain foreign company is interested in his submarine and wants to make it a tourist attraction. Still confused, Alfred asks what does this have to do with golf. Von Paljas explains that in that country they have a custom of playing a game of golf before papers are signed. Alfred is in disbelief but Von Paljas assures him that it's so. Alfred asks what country is that and Von Paljas tells him it's Jippon [in the finnish dub at least. What about english or the original dutch?].

Later Alfred accompanies Von Paljas to the golf course, and Von Paljas explains that Jipponese culture is so workaholic, that the country has made a golf law to prevent the people from working themselves to death.

They get an instructor and set everything up, and Von Paljas comments that the ball is tiny but stationary, so hitting it must be easy. The instructor tells him to try already and Von Paljas does, but misses and the force of the hit causes him to fall over while the ball only moves a few centimeters. Alfred and the instructor giggle when Von Paljas lies on the ground and sees stars for a while. He then gets up and states the obvious, saying that he only hit air. He tries again lower, but when he swings the club burrows itself to the ground and the ball doesn't move at all. Alfred laughs while Von Paljas starts getting agitated and says that his skills are just rusty because he hasn't practiced. He waves the club in the air and proclaims that the next swing is going tohit, while Alfred and the instructor share a look. Von Paljas hits with such a force that it raises a cloud of dust, leaving it unclear what he actually hit, if anything. The dust clears and reveals that both the ball and the stake are gone, and Von Paljas rejoices. However he doesn't see the ball anywhere, and concludes that it flew very far. The instructor tells him that he's going to see it very soon and Von Paljas is confused, until he looks up and the ball falls into his mouth. He collapses shortly and Alfred and the instructor run up to him and help him up,while the instructor hits him in the back. The ball is dislodged from Von Paljas' throat and rolls away, and Alfred asks if he was hurt. Von Paljas tells him not to worry, and jokes that it was a hole-in-one. Alfred is confused because he doesn't know the terminology.

Some time later at Alfred's house, Winnie laughs when Alfred comes from the kitchen with coffee and explains to her how Von Paljas didn't give up easily and just keeps practicing. Winnie asks if he has learned to hit the ball already, and Alfred tells her he doesn't, and he isn't a sports genius even though he beats everybody in the intelligence department. Winnie comments that it's weird how he can't his a stationary ball, but Alfred tells her she should try herself and it's easier said than done. He pours the coffee and continues that Von Paljas ''is'' unusually clumsy, aand acts out how he eventually hit the ground with such force that the club broke. Wininie is shocked and Alfred tells her that the club indeed broke, and then Von Paljas was deppressed and didn't believe that he could beat mr. Hoto. Winnie asks who mr. Hoto is and Alfrd explains that he's the one who's buying the submarine's blueprints, the one from Jippon. She asks when is Von Paljas going there, and Alfred tells her it's in two weeks. She chuckles, asking if he thinks Von Paljas will learn to play in two weeks. Alfred says they're going to see that soon enough, maybe a miracle will happen. Winnie asks if Alfred will be going along with him to Jippon, and Alfred says that he won't this time since the professor isn't going to solve any issue, just taking care of his own business. Winnie comments that the business is playing golf, and Alfred says that he doesn't need him for that. Winnie tells him it's good because he has been away a lot lately, and Alfred tells her that he's trying to be at home as much as he can. They lean towards each other to kiss, but a ringing phone interrupts them. Alfred answers quickly and the person on the other end is revealed to be Von Paljas, whoexplains that his left arm suddendly started hurting and a doctor said that a bone is broken, and his arm is now in cast. That's why he's asking if Alfred could come with him to Jippon. Alfred is shocked and repeats the sentence loudly, surprising Winnie. Alfred insists that he won't be of any help to him, but Von Paljas tells him that he could play he game with mr. Hoto. Alfred protests that he doesn't know how to play golf but Von Paljas brings up the know-it-all way Alfred laughed at him when he couldn't hit the ball, and tells him that he now has two weeks to train to become a good enough golfer that he will beat mr. Hoto. Alfred protests but Von Paljas thanks him, and stops the call before Alfred can get anything said. Winnie seems dissappointed.

Later they take a taxi to the golf field and Winnie sings quietly, while Alfred is sulking angrily on the other seat. Alfred asks in somewhat derisive tone if Winnie is also planning to learn golf, and Winnie says that it's a good opportunity. He agitatedly tells her that she should be learning on her own time, and she asks what he means. He tells her that this will be Von Paljas' private lesson, so the instructor is propably only going to focus solely on Alfred. Winnie tells him that she doesn't mind, she can watch Alfred play and teach herself. Alfred glares at her.

Soon they're at the golf field and everything has been set up for Alfred. The instructor tells him to hit the ball. Alfred doubts and asks if his grip is right, and the instructor tells him to not think about it and to just hit the ball already. Alfred moves the club experimentally, and the instructor tells him to stop wasting time and swing already. Alfred tells him he wondered how high he needs to lift the club. The instructor starts getting agitated and tells him to just lift it over his shoulder, it doesn't require that much thinking. He mimes the position and orders Alfred to finally hit the ball. Alfred lifts the club with a furious expression but stops suddendly, asking how hard he should hit. The instructor yells at him to stop overthinking and just swing the club and hit the ball. However Alfred stops again and the instructor angrily asks what's the matter this time, and Alfred asks if they could turn their backs. The instructor yells that he can't teach Alfred with his back turned, but Alfred says that he only needs to turn once because he can't hit with the instructor and Winnie staring at him. The instructor dejectedly accepts, telling Alfred that he may be too sensitive to play. He tells Alfred that he will be turning his back for the first swing, and tells Winnie to do the same. Winnie calls the situation silly but does turn. Alfred then swings furiously but misses the ball ''and'' loses his grip on the club, sending the club flying. Alfred stares transfixed in place as the club eventually lands on the field farther away. Winnie comments that she isn't hearing anything but Alfred says that there it went, causing them to turn back to him. Winnie asks if it really did, but Alfred says that it's the club that went. Winnie and the instructor are both shocked.

Later Winnie is taking aim and asking if she's in the right starting position, while Alfred and the instructor appear to be looking at her butt. The instructor tells her that her position is good and tells her to hit the ball now. Winnie tells Alfred not to laugh is she misses and Alfred says that of course he won't, nobody is born a master. Winnie raises the club and Alfred quietly comments that it's not looking good, but Winnie hits. Both Alfred and the instructor watch wide-eyed as the ball flies far away, and Winnie rejoices that she hit. The instructor immediately compliments her swing as wonderful, leaving Alfred staring as he walks up to her and keeps lauding her. The instructor tells Winnie to try again while Alfred glares, thinking aloud that it was just beginner's luck. He stares wide-eyed as Winnie hits again and the ball flies even farther, while the instructor comments that her swings keep getting better and she's naturally skilled. He then puts his wings on Winnie's butt and tells her he's showing her a position she should remain in, while Alfred stares in anger. He tries to swing again, but loses his bat for the ninth time and it flies right next to all the others. Growling in anger, Alfred goes to get another club but the bag is empty so he has to walk to get the ones he threw away by accident. Meanwhile Winnie hits the ball again and it falls in roughly the same place as all her other balls - and all of Alfred's clubs. The instuctor tells her that she could make it as a professional if she practiced seriously, and Winnie asks it it's true. Alfred stomps back with one club and finally hits the ball, but it only moves a few meters. He excitedly turns to tell the instructor that he hit, only to see him with his arms on Winnie's wings and almost lying on Winnie and leaning on her, telling her how to hold the club. Alfred is furious and hits the balls in the box and sends them flying, while the instructor kneels on the grass with his wing right on Winnie's tail and tells her that her position is very good now. Alfred furiously tries to kick the ball on the nail but fails and starts trying to hit it vertically. Meanwhile the instructor is back on his feet and has his wing on Winnie's shoulder, complimenting him. Alfred hits the ball horizontally again which sends it flying at high speed. It hits the instructor's butt very and bounces away, causing him to scream and fall over. Alfred stares as he falls and Winnie is shocked and confused, not knowing what happened.

One night at Von Paljas' house, he calls Alfred and says that he just wanted to know how much process did Alfred male on this first week. Alfred is swinging around a club while he talks and tells Von Paljas that he's been doing just fine, but chuckles hysterically. Von Paljas cheerfully asks if that means Alfred hit the ball, and Alfred boasts that he has been training hard and the balls startd moving three days ago, swinging the bat in the air for emphasis. Von Paljas is excited to hear this and tells him it's great, saying that as long as you get the ball to move forwards, you're always going to reach the hole at some point. He tells Alfred to keep going and Alfred tells him the plans to do that. The "camera" reveals that Alfred has been playing inside; there are holes on the floor, the trash can has fallen over, the television screen is broken, there's a hole in the wall an the shelf is hanging on one support, while the kitchen'scurtain door is ripped up and partially fallen down. Alfred ends the call and swings the club in the air, saying aloud that he's going to go out to the golf field tomorrow. He swings again, accidentally breaking the living room window and doing something that causes the door to fall off it's hinges.

Next morning or later in the golf field, the instructor shows Alfred and Winnie an actual playing route, and explains that less times you have to hit, the better. He also explains that for this hole you're only allowed to have four hits. Alfred proclaims that he knows it and the instructor says it's a good thing. He tells Winnie to start the game and she wonders if she'll fail, but Alfred tells her not to fret since she's a genius, looking at her in annoyance. She says that not even geniuses can do well without practice, and that Alfed has also practiced a lot. Alfred agitatedly proclaims that he doesn't want to lose to her, but Winnie walks away saying that she thought his opponent was mr. Hoto. Winnie hits the ball and it flies very far, terrifying Alfred. The instructor lauds Winnie for how unbelievably she has developed in just a week, and Winnie says it's nice. The instructor tells Alfred that it's his turn now and he's still terrified, to the extent he has trouble putting the ball on the nail because of how badly his wing shakes. His whole body trembles when he prepares for the swing and his attempts to stop it fail, while Winnie and the instructor stare at him. Winnie tells him to relax but Alfred can only answer in gibberish while still trembling, and while he hits the ball it only moves about one meter. The instructor tells him his turn is over and Winnie continues advancing, getting her ball almost right next to the hole. The instructor compliments her but she laments that she didn't hit very well. Meanwhile Alfred is stuck swinging around in a sand pit, unable to get the ball out and eventually causes it to pounce and hit him in the face. He roars in anger.

On the plane to Jippon, Von Paljas laughs and tells Alfred that he just doesn't believe in himself. Alfred tells him that he really is very bad at golf, but Von Paljas reassures him that the game with mr. Hoto is just a friendly match for improving their business relations. The plane arrives to Jippon, passing a volcano that reaches above the clouds.

They're soon in a car on a highway, and a local woman on the non-driving front seat tells them what hotel they will be staying at, and that she will come to get them immediately in the morning, and that's when they will make the contract. Von Paljas says that he has heard mr. Hoto to be a skilled golfer, and she says he really is. Von Paljas tells her that it's a pity he broke his arm because he would've liked to play himself, because he fears that Alfred won't be much of an opponent. He puts his paw on Alfred's shoulder and laughs without noticing how sad he looks.

At night in the hotel, Von Paljas is unloading his spare clothes from the suitcase when Alfred knocks on the door. He notices Alfred carrying the club bag and asks where he's going, and Alfred explains he's going outside. Von Paljas asks why and he explains that he's going to practice. Von Paljas questions it because it's very late, but Alfred proclaims that he wants to be at his best in the game tomorrow. Von Paljas asks where is he going to practice inna city in the middle of the night. Alfred explains that here in Jippon people like golf so much that routes remain open late into the night.

Alfred takes a taxi and arrives to one such place, where golfers are swinging in a row while other people wait for their turns. He goes to stand at the end of one line and makes conversation with the man in front of him, and asks how long has he waited. Alfred is shocked when the man estimates that maybe two hours.

In the morning Alfred is tired and yawns in the car, telling Von Paljas that the Jipponese really are crazy about golf. The earlier woman agrees, saying that there don't seem to be limits and it'salmost impossible to even get on lessons. Alfred asks what she means and she explains that they're terribly expensive, and they're always overbooked. Alfred comments that it has go be because of the golf law, and giant corporations have reserved all the lessons for themselves. She says that of course the most expensive ones, at that. Von Paljas calls Jippon a strange country.

They arrive at the golf field and meet mr. Hoto and two business partners in the building. Hoto shakes Alfred's hand and tells him he hopes he won't be too tough an opponent, and Alfred says he also hopes so. Hoto tells them to sit for a moment, since there's some time before their turn. While a maid serves them coffee mr. Hoto tells Von Paljas that he's intending to name the submarine ''Golf-1'' and asks his opinion, causing Von Paljas to be taken aback. He says he opposes the idea because it sounds weird. Mr. Hoto asks if he really thinks so and says he himself thinks it's a very nice name, but Von Paljas protests and says he thinks ''Professor Von Paljas'' would be a better name. Mr. Hoto rejects the suggestion and insists on ''Golf-1'' and Von Paljas, slightly agitated, suggest making a deal that if mr. Hoto wins he can name the submarine however he wants, but if Alfred wins, the submarine will be named after Von Paljas. Alfred is shocked, but mr. Hoto finds the suggestion interesting and agrees to the deal. He asks if Alfred will be a challenging opponent and Von Paljas swears he is, while Alfred is terrified and protests. Von Paljas whispers to him that surely he doesn't accept the stupid name either, but Alfred protest that Von Paljas had said that who wins doesn't matter. Von Paljas tells him the situation has changed, and tells Alfred he's going to win. Alfred isn't convinced.

On the field the balls are set up and mr. Hoto starts, getting it rather far. Von Paljas and Alfred are startled by the two associates' cheering, and mr. Hoto tells Alfred it's his turn. Alfred makes distressed noises and Von Paljas calls for him to just relax and not to stress. Alfred starts shaking but gets his ball on the nail, but starts trying to stop his shaking the same way be did on the lessons. Von Paljas asks him what's wrong but Alfred manages to mumble that it's nothing and everything is fine. He eventually manages to swing and hits the ball, raising dust as it flies even farther than mr. Hoto's ball. Alfred is still laying on the ground and Von Paljas cheers for him and compliments his swing, while mr. Hoto angrily walks to his ball. He gets it far but it falls into a sand pit, causing Alfred to sigh in relief. Von Paljas tells him he's still got a chance and he swings in determination, getting the ball almost to the striped vcircle around the hole. Von Paljas compliments and encourages him, while mr. Hoto is stuck in the sand pit while his lackeys are waiting for his success so that they get to cheer. Mr. Hoto finally succeeds and they start cheering and clapping, while Alfred also gets his ball to the striped area and Von Paljas gives him a V sign. Mr. Hoto fails to get his ball to the hole from a very small distance, and his associates bite their wings in anxiety. Hoto tries again from a few centimeters away and succeeds, while Alfred gets right next to the hole in two swings but even the third one misses desppite the ball having been right next to the hole. The fourth swing gets the ball right to the edge but it won't fall, but Alfred gets it in on the fift by bouncing it from his foot. Von Paljas gives him the V sign again.

The game continues furiously, and when they're walking Von Paljas tells Alfred that victory is still possible and that mr. Hoto isn't invincible. Alfred says that it's nice to hear, while mr. Hoto is getting angry at his failure.

Alfred tries to go up a hill but the ball slides all the way back down, mr. Hoto gets stuck in a sand pit again, Alfred also gets stuck in a sand pit right next to a hole and mr. Hoto's pit. In the striped area mr. Hoto's ball goes straight to the hole, but pounces from the edge and rolls back to his feet. Hoto fumes in anger and twists his club out of shape and throws it away. Alfred's ball falls into a water pit and he dives, tossing away the other balls in the bottom and somehow managing to launch his out of the water, after which it bounces from the shell of a turtle in the water and lands into the striped area around a hole, and then bounces straight into the hole. Von Paljas is shocked but. alfred jumps up from the water cheering.

Mr. Hoto and his lackeys search mr. Hoto's ball from tall grass while Alfred climbs a cliff, and mr. Hoto swings over his lackeys when they're trying to hold the grass down. Meanwhile Alfred reaches a hawk's nest on a cliff and gets the hawk to rise away, swinging from the nest while the hawk stares at him and holds the two eggs in their wings.

Mr. Hoto's lackey holds him up so that he can hit his ball in the tree, but mr. Hoto's swing breaks the tree branch and the ball just falls straight down. Alfred swings in a forest but the ball starts bouncing between trees at high speeds and and almost hits him several times, forcing him to flee. However the ball bpunces out of the woods and hits him anyway.

They finally reach number 18, the last hole. Von Paljas tells Alfred he's losing with the score 118 to 119. Alfred is tired and depressed, asking Von Paljas what he needs to do. He tells Alfred that his only chance is to get a hole in one, that way he'd still win even if mr. Hoto stayed below the allowed swings. Alfred asks if he should give up already. Mr. Hoto stresses and falls over, but he hitsthe ball and it flies right next to the hole. His lackeys cheer and he gets up, cheerfully telling Von Paljas that he appears to have won. Alfred tells him that it isn't certain yet and swings very hard. His ball flies far from the hole and bounces off a cliffside, causing Von Paljas to facepalm. However the ball bounces from a tree, falling down a hill, stairs, and seats right at the home's edge, much closer than mr. Hoto's ball. However it doesn't seem to fall in, but when Von Paljas looks between his fingers in wonder, the ground appears to spontaneously shakeand Alfred's ball falls into the hole. Mr. Hoto, his lackeys, and Alfred are shocked while Von Paljas is overjoyed. Mr. Hoto claims that he can still win, while Alfred is still sitting on the ground and staring. Von Paljas asks what happens if they win, and mr. Hoto angrily/crazedly declares that he's still going to name the submarine ''Golf-1'' anyway, and giggles hysterically. At the hole mr. Hoto's wings are shaking, while his lackeys look on anxiously and also shake. Mr. Hoto swings, but the ball stops just at the edge of the hole and doesn't go in.

Back at the building, it's evening already and Von Paljas and mr. Hoto sign the contract, shaking hands. Von Paljas thanks him,and mr. Hoto compliments Alfred's hoke-in-one. Von Paljas notices that Alfred isn't there and asks where he is, and the woman tells him Alfred went to practice in the sand pit. Von Paljas says that Alfred has gone crazy about golf there in Jippon, who would've thought.

In the sand pit Alfred is swinging furiously despite his tiredness, but can't get the ball out. Around the pit are lying the and and several twisted clubs. Alfred keeps swinging hard as the scene fades to black.

The "camera" reveals that
Alfred has been playing inside; there are holes on the floor, the trash can has fallen over, the television screen is broken, there's a hole in the wall an the shelf is hanging on one support, while the kitchen'scurtain door is ripped up and partially fallen down.

Alfred agitatedly proclaims that he doesn't want to lose to her, but Winnie walks away saying that she thought
take his opponent was mr.

!! Tropes:
* FreezeFrameBonus:
** When Alfred and Von Paljas are in the car for a second time, there's a close-up of Von Paljas where you can see the sky and nothing else behind him, despite the fact that they're in a roofed car.
** The turtle in the water on the Jipponese golf course bears a strange resemblance to the antique store owner from episodes 9 and 10.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Winnie seems to be the one who got most of the professional golf training, so ''she'' could have pkayed against mr. Hoto instead.
* GreenEyedMonster: Alfred's reaction when the instructor gets too close to Winnie, even before the guy starts groping her.
* AlmostKiss: Alfred and Winnie are just leaning towards each other and their beaks are almost touching, but they're interrupted by sudden phone ringing.
* BizarreAndImpropableGolfGame: The Alfred vs. Hoto game starts becoming this when it becomes a montage, especially Alfred's victory swing. All golf swings through the episode also involve butt-shaking.
* HandsOnApproach: The golf instructor gropes Winnie's butt under the guise of showing her a better hitting position. He later does it in the more common way.
* FullyDressedCartoonAnimal: The gold instructor, who's also taller and seems to have a more human anatomy than Alfred and Winnie, which is confusing because they're same species and all other ducks and waterfowls so far and since have had the same anatomy and about the same height as Alfred.
* VSign: Von Paljas does it twice when Alfred is doing well in the game against mr. Hoto.
* FacePalm: Von Paljas does it near the end when he thinks Alfred has lost.
