* The two's entrance left both in awe and confusion as the Pantheon's own set of rules, coupled with the lack of possible people to speak to placed both in a rough spot almost akin to a maze. While waiting for their temple to be built, Shoko decided to explore their subhouse, looking for people similar to them. What resulted from this was her first meeting to the Katawa Girls with their own deaf Student Leader Shizune Hakamichi, exchanging notebooks as a means to communicate to each other for the first time. The moment she talked about her relationship with Shoya left Shizune and the rest of the girls giggling hearing that she also earned a relationship to a former bully. Shoya's entrance after following her ended up in a huge group hug with all the girls, and Hisao in the background giving him a thumbs up of approval for his redemption.

* Their entry into the Pantheon came courtesy of another challenge set by Nishikata: walk into the abandoned highway tunnel without getting scared. They had already gone through this test of courage in their teenage years but Takagi chose to humour him and do it anyway. What was supposed to be an ordinary game turned extraordinary when they stepped into the tunnel as adults and came out as their in-series teenage selves. Nishikata had received via text message from his friends Takao and Kimura a seemingly genuine video of a purple and orange ghost in the tunnel and wanted to see for himself but was too scared to investigate further. He invited his wife along under the pretence of a game. [[spoiler:Mr. Mxyzptlk had been using the highway tunnel to mess about'''[[note]]meaning that he'd be able to do whatever he liked compared to the Franchise/DCUniverse'''[[/note]]. After unsuccessfully heading them off, he brought them to the '[[Pantheon/{{Justice}} police station]]' for help. What was originally a fiasco on his part ended up becoming two ascensions to the Pantheon and the fifth-dimensional losing a world where he could operate freely (and a fine)]].

Although she eventually got a B-Plot for herself, the [[DesignatedGirlFight Girls-Only]] [[AcceptableFeminineGoalsAndTraits Performances]], wherein she defeated all of her fellow challengers but failed to overthrow the reigning champion, her development in that arc was subsumed into Ash's when he expected to win against Wulfric but was soundly defeated instead. She attempted to comfort him, citing her troubles during said Performance Arc, but [[LeaveMeAlone he actively rebuffed her]], causing her to [[GetAHoldOfYourselfMan lash out in response]] and flee. It was [[PlotMandatedFriendshipFailure that action]] that caused Ash [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone to realize what he was doing wrong]] and set about to fix things. To her credit, Serena [[WasTooHardOnHim was ready to apologize]] but Ash beat her to it. Although Ash fell [[SecondPlaceIsForLosers just short]], [[ForWantOfANail if it wasn't for Serena, Ash might not have made the tournament at all]]. She also demonstrated this by [[WetBlanketWife blocking Ash from battling a non-qualified trainer enroute]].
