That said, he's dropped enough hints in various appearances through the years that everyone knew decades before that video. ** Yankovic is also very fond of Hanna & Barbera cartoons it seems. He references them a lot in his music videos. He has also referenced comic strips and the comedy musicians that came before him: Music/SpikeJones, Creator/StanFreberg, Music/TomLehrer, Music/FrankZappa...

** Likewise, Music/JerryCantrell is a fan of the ''VideoGame/CallOfDutyBlackOps'' games and was excited when he saw the AIC song "Them Bones" referenced in ''VideoGame/CallOfDutyBlackOpsColdWar''.

* Music/MikePatton is said to be an avid gamer, which makes a lot of sense as he's done voice-work for games like ''VideoGame/TheDarkness'', ''VideoGame/Left4Dead'', ''{{VideoGame/Portal}}'' and also as Nathan "Rad" Spencer in 2009's ''VideoGame/BionicCommando''. A short print interview in the early 90s focused entirely on his love for video games, and had him citing ''VideoGame/RoadRash'', ''VideoGame/SmashTV'' and ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2'' as his current favorites, as well as expressing a desire to one day compose music for a game.

** He also happens to own the second-largest collection of Alamo memorabilia in the world. The only one ahead of him: the Alamo itself!

* Music/FrankOcean is an avid gamer; track titles from his first mixtape include ''[[VideoGame/SoulSeries Soul Calibur]]'', ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolid'' and ''[[VideoGame/GoldenEye1997 GoldenEye]]''. The mixtape itself opens with a track called "[[Franchise/StreetFighter Streetfighter]]", which even contains the menu selection music, and his first studio album opened to the sounds of a UsefulNotes/PlayStation booting up.

*** Speaking of covers, has anyone seen just what's on "Food and Liquor"? Among the floating stuff, he's got a UsefulNotes/NintendoDS and a ''Franchise/{{Halo}}'' copy. And in the video for "I Gotcha", he's playing a classic joystick console.

* Music/DelThaFunkeeHomosapien is another fantastic example from the rap world. Gaming is a common subject in his raps, but in the song "Proto Culture", he talks about getting calluses from playing ''Asteroids'', using the Power Glove, not being able to beat the original ''VideoGame/NinjaGaiden'' because his mom wouldn't answer the phone, owning the first issue of Nintendo Power with maps of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaI'', bragging about his collection of rare Sega games, playing ''VideoGame/BushidoBlade 2'' and ''VideoGame/{{Tenchu}}'', the output of Creator/{{Capcom}} and {{Creator/SNK}}, importing ''VideoGame/{{Xenogears}}'' from Japan, killing cops in ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAuto'' and getting a UsefulNotes/SegaDreamcast before anyone else did. Unsurprisingly, this track and so many others use a lot of video game samples.
