*** He was ''waiting'' for Tom, and ''knew that they were watching him''. When the gatekeeper first shows Tom this is his fate if Jerry doesn't sign the certificate in time, Tom is understandably terrified.

** "Tall in the Trap" is fine for the most part, but there's a rather unsettling scene shortly before the climax where Jerry shoots Tom in the face with his own shotgun after falling down some basement stairs, and the following chase scene with Tom's face covered in soot. It doesn't sound scary, but somehow, actually watching it, alongside the very omnious music makes it scary.
** "Buddies Thicker than Water" has a scene where Jerry is disguised as a ghost to scare Tom. If that wasn't bad enough Jerry puts a album of spooky music on the stereo and switches off the lights.

** "Buddies Thicker than Water" has a scene "WesternAnimation/BuddiesThickerThanWater" actually shows Tom and Jerry genuinely being friends for the first half of the short, until Tom throws Jerry out into the freezing cold weather to ingratiate himself with the owner of the penthouse where Jerry is disguised has secretly been living. This leads to a serious tonal shift for the second half of the short, with Jerry disguising himself as a ghost and playing some horror movie-esque music -- the weird sound effects and Tom's screams being represented by a screeching violin instead of the usual vocal effects just add to scare Tom. If that wasn't bad enough the unnerving atmosphere. However, the actual scariest moment comes when Jerry's ghost disguise fails, causing Tom to look positively demonic and draw his claws. Jerry puts a album of spooky music on decides there's no point even trying to escape, closes his eyes and prepares to be disembowelled by Tom (who, fortunately for Jerry, then accidentally falls from the stereo and switches off the lights.balcony they're stood on after wearing away a snow drift beneath his feet).

* "The Haunted Mouse": in the scene when Jerry's cousin hypnotized Tom and walked into his body was a bit creepy. The face Tom makes as he's laughing evilly is somewhat scary. His laughter turns to nervous chuckles as he realizes that the cousin isn't scared, and the cousin's face as he hypnotized Tom, doubled with Tom's face while [[JawDrop his jaw drops]] is odd too. ** On the other hand, there’s Tom’s utterly deranged expression when he tries to run Jerry over with a toy train.

** When Tom hires a bunch of external aid of cats armed with paintball guns to handle the samurai dog, he grabs Tom and rolls him into a bowling ball to strike all of the goons, which is funny. Then we see the disheveled and devastated aftermath of their beatdown, as one thug leans up out of a trashcan and spits out ''all'' of his teeth into his hand. And then [[BodyHorror his entire jaw deflates in on itself]] in probably one the most visceral and unnerving moments in the franchise for the several seconds it's on camera, even though it's not gory in any way.
