While for the most part, [[ChaosIsEvil the only horror comes from what would happen if the dreams aren't stopped,]] the final dream Amitie and the others go through is a bit unsettling, it's the [[CannonFodder Puyo's]] dream. It starts off like a Puyo Battle, but they Puyo's [[ZergRush keep coming, and coming, and coming]]. They trap Arle and Carbuncle, rain down from the sky like meteors with eyes, [[MakeMyMonsterGrow fuse together to form enormous Puyo's]], and not even Schezo's Dark Sword can stop them, as cutting them in half only makes more of them. [[NightmareRetardent It turns out that the Puyo's just find battles fun]], but upon a first reading, [[{{Revenge}} it's easy to think they dream of taking revenge on everyone...]]

** And like [[BackFromTheDead Doppel]], [[NightmareFace Popoi]], [[CreepyGood Akuma]], [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg Otomo]], and many other characters on this list, Quest adds a new layer of horror to her character, namely through her lines, some of which make her sound like a full-blown ApocalypseMaiden.

** If that's not enough, he then possesses this...''[[EldritchAbomination thing]]'' called "[[AerithAndBob Test Body]]" (Pictured above), and makes a last-ditch effort to kill Arle! The whole scenario can be a pretty horrifying thing for a fan of Puyo Puyo, especially a Schezo/Arle shipper, to learn about...
** As you can see with Test Body's design, it's a multi-armed mass of flesh with a NightmareFace that stares right at you, and bits of its flesh seem to be stuck to the walls around it. It's also missing a good amount of flesh on one of its leg. [[NothingIsScarier Whatever the hell this thing is, it wasn't made through natural means.]] It's entirely possible Schezo ''[[MakerOfMonsters made that thing himself!]]''

* The merging process of the Puyo and Tetris worlds in ''"Puyo Puyo Tetris"'', on top of threatening to [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt end both worlds]], manages to [[BrainwashedAndCrazy somehow brainwash]] Rulue, Raffina, and Felie to try and stop the heroes, reducing the three to mindless drones trying to help get the apocalypse underway.

** The follow-up game takes it up a notch, with the BigBad [[LetsYouAndHimFightbrainwashing characters into mindlessly battling]] [[WeAreStrugglingTogether while their world falls apart around them.]] In execution, the characters take it well and bounce back from it. In concept, [[CosmicHorrorStory that kind of plot sounds utterly horrifying.]]

** Speaking of space-time, Madou material established that there was a Goddess of Space-Time, and yet it was unguarded and unattended to the point where a random Tetris champion in space had to take charge of it. Both Arle and Amitie are said to be [[GodInHumanForm reincarnated goddesses]], and Sig is the [[reincarnation of half a demon.]] [[InferredHolocaust What the Puyo Hell happened in this world]] to have [[KillTheGod two goddesses (plus one half-demon) dead and one missing?]]

** The (partial) reveal of their backstory in the Drama CD track ''Yu and Rei’s Lingering Regrets'' mixes this with a hearty helping of TearJerker. Rei wonders about what he and Yu’s lives were like when they were alive, so he goes to Feli and asks her to use her divination to find out. She ends up witnessing what is presumably the day they died, including their actual deaths and their first moments as ghosts, including Rei [[HeroicBSOD freaking out]] when he realises he’s dead. The experience is so traumatising to Feli that she lies to the twins and says her divination failed so as not to scar them with the truth. [[CreepyLonerGirl Feli]] was ''[[OOCIsSeriousBusiness horrified]]'' by something. And judging by the fact that [[NothingIsScarier we never hear their deaths]]...yeah.

In life, they made a promise to stay together forever, and Yu was so obsessed with keeping that promise that she [[NiceJobBreakingItHero inadvertently doomed herself and Rei]] to [[BarredFromHeaven an eternity as earthbound spirits]]. No wonder Rei’s so depressed.

** ''Quest'' doesn't help matters, as Yu mentions visting their own grave. So apparently, somebody, or [[DigYourOwnGrave even the twins themselves]], set up a grave for them. What makes this unnerving is that they have [[ParentalAbandonment no parents or family to speak of]]. They have no memories of their life, [[SomethingWeForgot aside from Rei feeling like he's forgetting something]], and Yu was said to be unhappy with her life, [[FreudianExcuse which is why she enjoys being a ghost so much]]. So you have to wonder, where did their family go?

** Even if it was unintentional, Arle straight-up ''[[OffWithHisHead beheading]]'' Schezo in the PC-98 version of Madou Monogatari II is definitely this. This all happens [[https://twitter.com/zoniken514/status/1185734250177298432 on-screen]] and is about as gory as an 8-bit dungeon crawler can allow, with blood pouring down the front of his cloak. Granted [[AssholeVictim Schezo is a straight-up villain in this game]], but the [[SurpriseCreepy moment still comes out of nowhere]] and can blindside anyone familiar with only Puyo Puyo.

** And to top it all off, there's what Schezo's name means in-universe. It means "''[[BeautyIsBad Handsome man]] who [[RageAgainstTheHeavens defiles the gods]].''" [[HellHasNewManagement Schezo has shown an intent to usurp Satan as ruler of Hell.]] Schezo doesn't just want to be a Dark Mage, ''[[SatanicArchetype he wants to be the Devil.]]''

* Otomo's situation. [[ButtMonkey His misery is often played for laughs]], but think about it. Prince Salde is a rebellious kid, probably younger than Sig or Amitie even, running around trying to evade his future as king. [[AdultFear The idea of a kid running around unattended is probably enough to justify Otomo's worries]], and it doesn't help that Salde is constantly the butt of death jokes, getting EatenAlive twice and StrippedToTheBone if he loses a Puyo Battle. Suddenly, Otomo's constant concern feels quite justified...

* [[FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire Akuma]] is a demonic teddy bear and curator of Primp Town's museum, and a bit of a MoodSwinger, going from calm and collected to [[SuddenlyShouting screaming at the top of his lungs]] with sharp teeth and angry eyes forming the most disturbing NightmareFace his art-style allows. Of course, it isn't too disturbing then, until ''Quest'' [[TheBusCameBack brought him back]], with the [[ArtEvolution updated shading]] [[https://puyonexus.com/mediawiki/images/f/fa/Img503006_l.png making him look more menacing]], [[CreepyDoll further resembling a possessed toy.]]

* Then there's Quest's returning characters, which can give longtime fans cause for alarm. [[DragonAscendant Demi]][[HornsOfVillainy serf]] is back, [[ArchEnemy still has a grudge against Rulue]], and aims to TakeOverTheWorld. No [[FreudianExcuse sympathetic motive]] or [[WellIntentionedExtremist good intention]], [[VileVillainSaccharineShow he's nothing short of a legit force of evil running around the Puyo Puyo world]], which sticks out in the cast compared to the likes of the [[TheDevilIsALoser Dark Prince]], [[AmbiguouslyEvil Accord and Popoi]], [[CryForTheDevil Strange Klug]], [[AlmightyIdiot Ecolo]], [[VillainyFreeVillain Ex]], and even [[TragicMonster Squares]] and [[HeelFaceTurn Rafisol]]. Yeah, Madou had plenty of villains like that, like [[DarkIsEvil Dark Matter]], [[AngelicAbomination Phantom God]], [[EvilSorcerer Runelord]], [[StarterVillain Fudoushi]], [[EldritchAbomination Yog Swartus]], and even Demiserf's old boss, the [[MonsterMisogyny Count]], but what makes Demiserf stand out from them? '''[[TheBusCameBack He came back]]...'''
