Had another senior hygienist not discovered what happened to the patient, the patient could have died.

The submitter flees before he can learn who this Barry fellow is or what the restaurant owner plans to have Barry do to him, but in context, it's pretty clear that, best case scenario, the submitter was going to be on the receiving end of a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown.
