* "The Intruder" involves the kids' telling Babar a scary story involving Rataxes sneaking into his mansion while he and Celeste are out trying to prevent a flood reaching Celesteville.
** The titular intruder-- Rataxes in disguise-- is pretty terrifying. The shots of it standing outside are frightening on their own, but then comes the reveal that it ''broke into the mansion by smashing one of the doors open''. Pompadour assures the children that no monster or hobgoblin has broken in, but he is proven wrong when, after putting Isabelle to sleep, he ''encounters the titular intruder standing in front of him'' and lets out a horrifying scream, and when the children go to check up on him, all they see is his monocle. They proceed to go rescue him by going into the basement, and Pom and Isabelle are almost captured by a black, looming figure. While the episode does have some levity in the truth that Rataxes and Basil solely snuck in to retrieve a stamp, it's still horrifying.
** The whole atmosphere of the episode deserves a mention: aside from it being a home invasion plot, it's set inside the dark confines of Babar's palace during a brooding storm with the occasional flash of lighting. The above scene where Pom and Isabelle venture into the basement to save Pompadour from the monster is easily the scariest part, since both Alexander and Flora are left outside, and Pom doesn't realize they didn't follow him until after he doesn't hear Alexander respond to his question, and this is followed by Isabelle ''seeing'' the intruder in front of her. The music score deserves a special mention: while Milan Kymlicka's lighthearted tracks are present, for the majority of the episode, his score in this episode sounds like it came out of a ''children's horror movie''. Special mention goes to:
*** The looming strings when the intruder first appears outside the window when Pompadour takes Isabelle upstairs
*** The violin strings that play when Pom shuts the curtains, followed by a quicker string during the shot of the intruder outside the window
*** The shocked string when Flora sees the door knob to the entrance broken
*** The rising ''Jaws''-like notes that play when the intruder approaches Pompadour, followed by dramatic strings as well as his scream and the harpsichord strings when the kids see that the monster kidnapped Pomapdour
*** The strings that play when Pom encounters two of Rataxes' guards outside the palace
*** And finally, the dramatic piece that plays before Rataxes encounters Babar standing outside his palace.

--->'''Doctor''': There is no known remedy for this poison. All we can do is hope.

* The episode "Witches Potion" deals with Flora being bitten by a Purple Night Shadow, a incredibly deadly venomous snake. While we don't see it bite her, we ''do'' hear the sound of it hissing, followed by her slumped unconscious on the ground. Making this already scary scenario worse: there is '''no''' known medical treatment for this snake's bite, with the doctor grimly telling Babar and Celeste that all they can do is keep her on life support and hope she overcomes the venom, an outcome implied to be so unlikely as to be outright miraculous. If Alexander hadn't risked life and limb to seek out the legendary hermit known as Winifred the Witch, and if she hadn't turned out to have discovered an herbal remedy for the venom, Flora probabl would have '''died'''.

* "My Dinner with Rataxes" has the tunnels, these huge, winding, maze-like tunnels with tons of dead-ends and bottomless pits to boot. Even worse, Babar's kids and Rataxes' son Victor discover them while playing football, and they end up getting lost, as do Babar and Rataxes themselves when they look for them. If Celeste and Louise didn't come to their rescue, Rataxes would've taken his, Babar's, as well as their own children's lives.

If Alexander didn't confess to Winifred the Witch about his sister's current state, Flora would most likely have died, because no cure for being bitten by a Purple Night Shadow is known to exist; as pointed out by the doctor.
