* TheAce: Yurina Hirate, until her withdrawal (not graduation) from the group.
* AlternateCharacterReading: Used to distinguish "Kanji" Keyaki (欅坂46) from "Hiragana" Keyaki (けやき坂46), which are different groups.
** [=Hinatazaka46=] was named after the Hyugazaka street in Minato, Tokyo, which is written with the exact same kanji characters.
* AmericansAreCowboys: Mizuho Habu produced her own Eagleland-themed sketch series called Habu's Nice Day, where she plays a half-American cowgirl (who barely speaks English) who helps other members with their problems. Because the English word "have" is written as habu (ハブ) in katakana, the show is pretty much an excuse to use puns like "What problem do you Habu?" and "Yes, I Habu a solution!" These puns are first introduced in Keyakake episode 20, when Habu's real-life father proposed them for her to use as catchphrase.
* AntagonisticOffspring: As might be expected from a bunch of eccentrics, several members have revealed that they aren't in the best of terms with their parents.
* ApatheticCitizens: Many of their songs seem to call these people out, such as "Silent Majority" and "Fukyouwaon".
* BadassInANiceSuit: "Kaze ni Fukaretemo".
* BigNo: The bridge of "Fukyouwaon" ends with a loud and clear "Boku wa iya da!" ("I refuse!" or "I hate it!"). In live performances, that phrase usually comes out as a bone-chilling scream.
* BlackSheep: "Kuroi Hitsuji" ("Black Sheep") is a variant, which tells about one who doesn't fit in with her classmates.
* CaptainSmoothAndSergeantRough: Captain Yuuka Sugai and Vice Captain Akane "Sergeant" Moriya.
* CountryMouse: Neru Nagahama, raised in the Nagasaki countryside, is amused while watching Yuuka Sugai and Mizuho Habu's attempts to survive a camping trip and is enthusiastic when the hosts jokingly offer to put her in a Robinsonade survival reality show. Meanwhile, Yonetani is TerrifiedOfGerms and admits that she would have freaked out even more.
--> Neru: Seeing them going hysterical when they saw those sea roaches, it was painfully obvious they're city slickers.\\
Tsuchida: Imagine if we set up a city girl vs country girl episode. The country girls would stockpile a lot of good stuff!

* FanService: Like [=Nogizaka46=], their costumes are long dresses and they mostly save the swimsuit and lingerie shots for the photobooks. Neru Nagahama's photobook, Koko Kara, sold 97,660 copies in its first week.
* FirstNameBasis: In Keyakake episode 245, Yumiko Seki reveals that she strongly insists on this with the other members, since she feels that using her wealthy family's name puts a distance between her and others. The hosts comment that she's a real-life anime Ojou.

* GratuitousEnglish: Several of their songs have English titles, such as "Silent Majority", "Eccentric", "Ambivalent", and "No War in The Future", and even those that don't slip in some English phrases.

After the 4th senbatsu selection, several members like Miyu Suzumoto showed that they doesn't really care about their position but what they are worried about is whether it is another 21 Kanji senbatsu or not. The girls also cried when it was announced that Neru Nagahama is joining The Team for 2nd single.
* Ojou: Some members came from money and this fact is occasionally brought up for comedic effect.
** When Yuuka Sugai revealed that she does horse riding, she was given the Ojou-chara. But when it is revealed that she went to vacation to her holiday villa in Gunma and that she have another one in Karuizawa, it becomes clear that it's not just her chara, but that she's a honest to god Ojou-sama! She also has other telltale signs of Japanese OldMoney, such as calling her parents and grandparents with the -sama honorific and having graduated from Gakushuin Women's College (Gakushuin institutions are traditionally attended by imperial family members). However, unlike most examples, she IJustWantToBeNormal seems uncomfortable whenever her family's wealth is mentioned and considers "Sugai-sama" an EmbarrassingNickname.
*** In Keyakake episode 142, everybody's shocked when she mentions she has a Winback Indiba electrotherapy machine, which was imported from France and costs a few million yen, at home. It's used in her mother's beauty spa, which Rika Ozeki reveals in episode 245 to be unrivaled in both price and services.
*** In Keyabingo! 2 episode 4, Sugai-sama and several members have a "ladyness" competition with the subjects of table manners, English conversation, and food tasting. .
** 2nd generation member Yumiko Seki is also one and has the nickname Yumiko-kaicho ("Chairman Yumiko").Her family owns Seki Furniture, one of the largest furniture makers in Japan and a sponsor of the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks esports club and the Sagan Tosu soccer club of Saga Prefecture.
*** Keyakake episodes 245-246 are a competition between Sugai-sama and Yumiko-kaicho to decide which one's the true ojou-sama, supported by their respective "commoner" entourage who compete physically to give their "patrons" a chance to answer quiz questions.
** In several episodes of Keyakitte, Kakenai?, it's revealed that several of the members live in large houses and their grandparents have high-class pastimes, leading the hosts to conclude that actually they may also qualify.
* TheOner: The MV for "Kuroi Hitsuji" is shot in one take.
* PuttingOnTheReich: During a Halloween event, the members wore costumes that looked extremely similar to the SS uniforms worn by the Nazi Party. An apology was promptly issued.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: Each of 21 Kanji members have different set of personality, from the loud and cheerful Fuyuka Saito, quiet and reserved Yui Kobayashi, to the natural airhead Rika Watanabe. 11 Hiragana are a whole different set too, as they are more extrovert and active than Kanji members. All of Hiraganas are said to be 'weird' at school. Despite all the clashing personalities, that may have caused some argument and small fight inside the group from time to time, Keyakizaka members are bonded to the point where "best friend and comrade is not enough to describe it".
* SlummingIt: For their 6th single Selfie TV bonus content, in which members produced individual short videos about whatever they want, Yuuka Sugai decided to do something she has never done before in her 22 years of living... have lunch in a ramen joint. Alone. This is close to social suicide in Japan, especially for an idol, although things are changing. She enjoyed the experience and mentioned that she would try eating alone at other kinds of establishment as well.
* SoreLoser: "Sergeant" Akane Moriya really hates losing and often cries when that happens.
* SoUnfunnyItsFunny: Compared to their sister groups and AKB, many Keyakizaka members are rather awkward at variety shows, that a large part of the comedy comes from the hosts lampshading this.
* SpeechImpediment: Despite being the group's captain and spokeswoman, Yuuka Sugai has difficulty pronouncing some syllables like ke and du.
* SpinOff: Hiragana Keyakizaka was spun off into [=Hinatazaka46=] in February 2019, leaving Kanji as the only Keyakizaka.
* StarvingArtist: In an early Keyakake episode, Rina Ozeki points out that their pay per episode is only around $100 divided between all the members present (of course, they also receive a base salary and income from other appearances, but it's no secret that most idols don't become rich).
* SurprisinglyGoodForeignLanguage: Sarina Ushio lived in Indonesia for 5 years and can speak the language. She occasionally sings Indonesian nursery rhymes from her childhood. She signs off her blog posts with "Sarimakashi," which is a combination of her name and the Indonesian for "thank you" (terima kasih). Even her name is very similar to the Indonesian name Sarinah, although it's a Japanese name. The Indonesian name has fallen out of use and is now more known as a department store chain.
** Sarina also suggested the name "Lima Cantik" ("Five Beauties") for her subunit.
* TeamMom: Members often turn to Nana Oda for emotional support, and she is also acknowledged as the group's Bifauxnen. Subverted since she is actually a rather carefree person; for example, another member had to draw up a college study plan for her since she couldn't bother to do it herself.
* TerrifiedOfGerms: Nanami Yonetani absolutely refuses to eat or drink from the same container as others, and can't even imagine kissing her future spouse.
* ThatCameOutWrong: When Rina Matsuda and several other members appeared in the Nep League quiz show, the letter she provided (な na) in a group spelling game turned out to form the sentence "gets anal with a stick" (ぼうにあなる).The expected answer might be "gets hit by a stick" (ぼうにあたる). It became a Twitter worldwide trending topic that evening.
* WeCannotGoOnWithoutYou: Kanji Keyaki was unable to perform at Budokan in February 2018 due to Hirate injuring her arm. As a result, all three concerts were performed by Hiragana Keyaki.
* WeNamedTheMonkeyJack: Rika Watanabe gave herself the nickname Pe-chan, after her cat.
