Keep in mind that [[TropesAreTools levity and sweetness are not necessarily bad]]. With proper usage, it may result in an enjoyable series where the cuteness is somehow justified or just part of the environment. When it monopolizes the series, or puts being adorable ahead of things like actual plots or likeable characters, ''then'' it becomes a problem. Cute in and of itself isn't wrong, but given an audience's general conditioning to the notion that SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids and that RealMenHateSugar (a side effect of [[GirlShowGhetto targeting masculine elements towards women as much as men]]), even this wiki has something of an aversion to cuteness as an entity as the incredibly long list of examples below attest. This cultural reaction is also one of the core reasons why AmericanKirbyIsHardcore.

** The Broadway {{Retool}} of this musical zig-zags this trope. A {{Retool}} deliberately tried to make what was a rather faithful, atmospheric adaptation of Roald Dahl's original novel -- one that played up and pushed further the material's BlackComedy -- into a LighterAndSofter piece more in line with the [[Film/WillyWonkaAndTheChocolateFactory 1971 film adaptation]], incorporating some of its songs at the expense of some of the West End version's original numbers (though "Pure Imagination" appeared in both versions, albeit in different scenes). The result is a show that swerves from jolly movie songs like "The Candy Man" and "I've Got a Golden Ticket" to setpieces in which bratty children are sent to often UncertainDoom -- and in Veruca's case, ''torn limb from limb onstage'' -- back to the extremely sentimental Broadway-specific finale "The View from Here", sung by Charlie and Willy Wonka...who's suddenly a SoProudOfYou ParentalSubstitute after 2+ hours of misanthropy towards everyone but the Oompa-Loompas.

* During the early-1990's, there was a commercial for a mail-order children's construction set called ''Geerios''. The set itself was actually quite nifty. It allowed children to build their own non-motorized mechanical devices (robots, etc.) without parental fear of things like electric shocks. However, the commercial for it was so sickeningly cute that it could put just about any other commercial on this list to shame. The [[HellIsThatNoise most annoying nursery music ever]] played in the background, while some Hallmark-ish woman described the toy, depicting kids innocently playing with it and even parents getting a kick out of it.

These kids happen to be in the demographic for Creator/NickJr and pour on the saccharine.
* The Oreo "Wonderfilled" advertisements. Special mention goes to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDaCU_qD5gk this one]], narrated by a girl wondering if her dad would let her stay up past bedtime if she gave him an Oreo; what really adds to the adorableness is that it's implied that she doesn't ''just'' want to avoid bedtime, [[DaddysGirl but she also wants to spend time with her dad]]. * The Zulily commercials, specifically when a nursery rhyme song is sung by a woman in a soft voice.
* There was a sappy Pediasure commercial from the early 2000's: A young boy tells his mom that his pet baby rabbit is "so small". *** The song in question, Tokimeki Sugar, has been released and is sickeningly sweet.
** Yui's songs might qualify for this trope too, but most of them are more starchy than sweet.
** Azunyan. When she has her cat-ears on, when she calms down for some reason (eating cake or being pet by Yui), etc. It is impossible to not love her.
** Does this series really need examples? Every second of every episode qualifies for this trope really.
* ''Anime/KillLaKill'': [[CuteAndPsycho Nui Harime]], [[TheFashionista the Grand Couturier]], is a parody of this trope. She is a sickeningly cute girl with a sickeningly cute voice and a sickeningly cute demeanor who wears sickeningly cute frilly clothes that make her look like a MagicalGirl. * ''Manga/KiniroMosaic'' is very saccharine in a British way, ''especially'' in the first episode when Shinobu first met Alice in England.

* Hina from ''LightNovel/PapaNoIukotoOKikinasai'', is strong enough to put you in a diabetic coma.
* Franchise/{{Pokemon}}
** Some of the critters, especially those belonging to the main characters of the [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} anime]]. Granted, some of these start out cute and get progressively... less so, but there are some that stay adorable. Example: Igglybuff, Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff. Even their NAMES are cute!
** The Chansey family also falls into this, especially Happiny, the baby form of Chansey. It has a diaper! D'awww...
** The film short ''Pikachu and Pichu'', which plays at the beginning of ''Spell of the Unown'', is SO cute. Heck, any time Pokémon are interacting in a friendly manner without their trainers present probably counts.
** In the ''Diamond and Pearl'' episode ''Battling a Cute Drama!'' Ash and friends meet a girl who only cares for cute Pokémon. In fact, when Dawn ([[MyFriendsAndZoidberg and Brock]]) battle her, she spends almost all of her time giving speeches about her cute Pokémon. Everyone else is both disgusted and annoyed. [[OffModel Or crosseyed.]]
** Dawn and Piplup themselves are ''big'' offenders of this trope.
*** That is, if Dawn isn't busy [[StepfordSmiler having emo moments]].
** ''Steamboat Willies'', another ''Diamond and Pearl'' episode. The gang's Pokémon play and take charge of the ship while they're gone, with ''ridiculously adorable results''.
** Most of the anime and movie endings are this as well. For example, the first ''Best Wishes'' ending, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DatuMyJR4Yk Kokoro no Fanfare]]. It involves a ''Pokémon marching band.''
** The Pikachu shorts may qualify, but ''Eevee And Friends'' is one of Pokemon's strongest examples of this trope. It basically is 20-30 plot-less minutes of adorably cute Pokemon playing around and just being sugary sweet, including [[PlotHole evolved Pokemon that should not be found in the wild in the first place, because they need stones to evolve.]]
** Much (but not all) of the series can qualify, though being an anime for young boys (rather than girls) it isn't the most extreme example. NeverSayDie, ThePowerOfFriendship, and {{Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain}}s are frequently in full effect, and much of the episodes' running time is filled with cute Pokémon speaking unintelligibly in PokemonSpeak (the series is the {{Trope Namer|s}} for a reason). Many of the series' later dub theme songs, [[AmericanKirbyIsHardcore despite being less soft than the original Japanese songs]], dealt with ThePowerOfFriendship.
* While there is some debate over whether the film as a whole qualifies (it is one of the few films from Creator/HayaoMiyazaki that is very definitely for young children), pretty much everyone agrees that the song that assaults you during the end credits of the American dub of ''Anime/PonyoOnTheCliffByTheSea'' is... yikes. Just yikes.
-->"She's a little fish from the deep blue sea! / She's a little girl with a round tuh-mee!"
* ''Anime/{{Potemayo}}'', on the surface. Then you get to the ''Film/BrokebackMountain'' references, crossdressing and toilet humour (and HoYay) and you begin to wonder [[WidgetSeries just what the hell you're watching]].
* Intentionally evoked for parody reasons throughout the ''Anime/PrettySammy'' series. Sammy's "Pretty Space" turns the area around her into a diabetic coma-inducing place saturated by the color [[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaChick piiiink]] and with hearts floating everywhere. This gets commented on by the other characters a few times.
* This is how most people react when they first hear about an anime called ''Anime/PrincessTutu''. It's about a duck who turns into a girl who turns into a [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot Magical Girl Ballerina Princess]]! Suffice it to say that [[DefiedTrope this is NOT]] a SugarBowl.
* [[CrapsackWorld Anything]] not in the [[WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs Witches' Realm]] in ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'' and Kyubey. [[TearJerker Really]], [[HarsherInHindsight IT'S THAT BAD]].
** Well, it ''is'' an [[BlatantLies Iya]][[MemeticMutation shi]][[{{Iyashikei}} kei]] series.
** [[Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagicaTheMovieRebellion The film]] takes this further than the series ever did. For the first half-hour, it centers on the '[[FiveManBand Puella Magi Holy Quintet]],' who defeat [[UglyCute fairly cuddly]] bad dream monsters with the help of their cute sidekicks (the BigBad and KnightOfCerebus in the original) by using MagicMusic to turn the bad dreams into cake and friendship. [[spoiler: This is the result of the LotusEaterMachine Homura's been stuck in, and being ''Madoka'', it doesn't take long before things go downhill.]]
* ''Manga/RiskySafety''. My teeth!
* The "Super S" season of ''Anime/SailorMoon'' was notorious for this.
** Chibiusa in general is like this.
** But even she has nothing on [[{{Moe}} Chibi-Chibi]].
* ''Anime/SerendipityThePinkDragon'' is a sweet story of a boy and his pink, sappy-eyed sea monster. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbSIsDRiuTw Look no further than the theme song.]] ''"My, what a wonderful world we'd have if we all could be... loving and caring! Giving and sharing! Like my friend Serendipity!"''
** The Actual Books that inspired this series are only sometimes this trope, besides there being a lot more characters then those that show up in the Anime the series did a lot of heady themes albeit in a way that children could understand like racism, domestic violence and helping the environment while the series may run on Aesops [[SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped at least their good Aesops]]
* ''LightNovel/StrawberryPanic'', to such levels that people tend to dismiss this show as StealthParody.
* ''Manga/SugarSugarRune''. The first half of that anime feels like diabetes heaven.
* Yui from ''LightNovel/SwordArtOnline''. Fans thought that she was adorable and contributed to Kirito and Asuna's relationship. Detractors on the other hand saw it as contrived and pretentious and say it contributed to the show's SeasonalRot.
* ''Anime/TamakoMarket'', for pretty much the same reasons as K-On.
* ''Tamagotchi Video Adventures'' the anime adaptation of the ''Videogame/{{Tamagotchi}}'' videogames. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14QEWBAwEls Here is a video of said series.]]
* ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'': While the anime in general is [[RatedMForManly very manly]], there is still one case. Nia. With Young Nia, it feels like every single pore of her body begs you with puppy eyes, "Please, love me, please love me." Much like the ''Lucky Star'' example above, VoiceActor/HyndenWalch provides Young Nia's voice.
* ''Anime/ImGonnaBeAnAngel''. It is a shame that most people are turned off just by seeing the art (or the face of the main character), even though the series is really good and many times it was described as 'reverse Utena' (in terms of main themes and overall surrealism).
* ''Franchise/YuGiOh''
** Even though up to 95% of the monsters are badass types, some of them are really cute, e.g. Kuriboh.
** Tea's deck in the anime has some cuties in there, such as Shining Friendship.
** ''Anime/YuGiOhGX'' does this in one episode with a monster called [[http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Mokey_Mokey Mokey Mokey]]. Jaden's friends thought it was so cute, and it [[spoiler: actually makes them fall asleep]].
** [[http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Rescue_Cat Rescue Cat]]! And his fuzzy comrade, [[http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Rescue_Rabbit Rescue Rabbit]]!
** The [[SugarBowl Madolche]] archetype definitely qualifies.
** Some of [[Anime/YuGiOhArcV Yuya Sakaki]]'s [[http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Performapal_Cheermole monsters]] [[http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Performapal_La_Panda are]] [[http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Performapal_Whip_Snake cute enough]] [[http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Performapal_Helprincess to cause cavities]].
* ''Manga/YumeiroPatissiere'' is ridiculously shojo.
* ''Anime/MyNeighborTotoro'': Mei, the 4-year-old girl who would often repeat the last thing her older sister Satsuki says.
* ''Anime/SuzysZooDaisukiWitzy'': Well, you have an adorable little duckling and her plush toy friends going on gentle romps and picnics and whatnot, set to SceneryPorn, and that's technically it.

Her actions, however, will make you sick in a whole different way. She keeps up her adorable facade even as she tells the protagonist about how she [[spoiler:murdered her father]].
* ''Manga/KimiNiTodoke'' centers around teenagers who are kind and understand one another. -Gasp-!
* ''Manga/KiniroMosaic'' is very saccharine in a British way, ''especially'' in the first episode when Shinobu first met Alice in England.
* ''Anime/ALittleSnowFairySugar''... the epitome of overly-cutesy {{moe}} if there ever was one.
** The word "sugar" is right there in the name, as is "fairy." That might actually count as a LampshadeHanging.
* ''Manga/LuckyStar''
** Konata's little cousin [[IllGirl Yutaka]] qualifies. From the first moment you see her, she rots your teeth--and as soon as you think it can't get any worse, just wait till you see her interaction with Iwasaki's dog in the {{O|riginalVideoAnimation}}VA. On top of that,
interesting considering she's voiced by [[WesternAnimation/TeenTitans Starfire]]'s voice actress.
** Hell, the entire series tastes like diabetes--or more like chocolate cornets.
* ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha'' was like this before the plot showed up four or so episodes in. And then again at several points through the whole series. But special mention should be made of the ''[[Manga/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaVivid ViVid]]'' manga which takes it UpToEleven.
** And that's not even getting into what the series was [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_RBghAfiW8 originally]] going

* The first 15 minutes of ''Anime/MomotarosDivineSeaWarriors'' is Creator/CarlBarks found Christmas stories with AnAesop like this. [[MoodWhiplash Then they]] [[KillerRabbit start preparing]] [[WartimeCartoon for war]]...
* ''VisualNovel/NanatsuiroDrops'' is so cute, that just watching 5 seconds of the opening will make your teeth fall out and your eyes pop of SO. MUCH. CUTENESS. Gah
* ''Manga/NonNonBiyori'' has a number of scenes where the characters constantly show how happy they are.
* The whole purpose behind ''Anime/NyanpireTheAnimation'' and the original manga [[http://ekladata.com/0qUzJmDhgBJxe7o1Zh3_Lk_ingo.jpg "The Gothic World of Nyanpire".]]
* The OP for ''LightNovel/OreShura'' is a ridiculously cutesy song played over numerous shots of the maximally cute-ified heroines in a bright-pastel-colored world overflowing with cake, candy, and flowers. And, of course, plenty of mild {{fanservice}}. It doesn't get much more sugary than [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvhK1QrzwO8 this.]]

* Hina from ''LightNovel/PapaNoIukotoOKikinasai'', is strong enough to put you in a diabetic coma.
* Franchise/{{Pokemon}}
* ''Manga/RiskySafety''. My teeth!
* ''Franchise/YuGiOh''
Jaden's friends thought it
Unfortunately, he was so cute, and it [[spoiler: actually makes them fall asleep]].
** [[http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Rescue_Cat Rescue Cat]]! And his fuzzy comrade, [[http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Rescue_Rabbit Rescue Rabbit]]!
** The [[SugarBowl Madolche]] archetype definitely qualifies.
** Some of [[Anime/YuGiOhArcV Yuya Sakaki]]'s [[http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Performapal_Cheermole monsters]] [[http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Performapal_La_Panda are]] [[http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Performapal_Whip_Snake cute enough]] [[http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Performapal_Helprincess to cause cavities]].
* ''Manga/YumeiroPatissiere'' is ridiculously shojo.

Examples include some of the woodland critters that the Once-ler meets (especially Pipsqueak) and some of the musical numbers like "Let It Grow," which can really come across as sappy and unnecessary. However, the biggest offender has to be that little three year-old girl that gets an entire verse to herself in "Let It Grow," and is basically just there for people in and outside of the movie to adore. UGH, if
trope, but that doesn't qualify for this trope, nothing does.
* ''WesternAnimation/HappyFeetTwo'', with
excuse the focus on baby penguins. Then there's Mumble's son Erik, who takes the cuteness factor to absolutely ridiculous heights.
* The ''WesternAnimation/IceAge'' series can sometimes get into Taste Like Diabetes territory whenever they show younger children-just look at any scene involving Roshan, Peaches as a baby or a kid, and the baby dinosaurs.
* ''Every''. ''Single''. ''One''. Of ''WesternAnimation/TheLandBeforeTime'' sequels. In stark contrast to the original film. But ''especially'' the last one, ''Wisdom of Friends''. Which is saying something!
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretOfNIMH2TimmyToTheRescue'' and the ''WesternAnimation/AnAmericanTail'' sequels are just as guilty of tasting like diabetes, especially when compared to their predecessors!
* We have this line from ''WesternAnimation/DespicableMe'':
--> '''Agnes:''' It's so fluffy I'm gonna die!
* The WesternAnimation/{{Pixar}} short "Lava" about two volcanoes falling in love. "I...lava...you..."
* For some reason, Creator/DreamWorksAnimation thought in the early 2010s
fact that doing sentimental films ''á la'' Disney (''totally'' inverting the studio's previous formula) would be a good idea. The company almost sank, before they snapped out nearly all of it.
* ''WesternAnimation/RomeoAndJulietSealedWithAKiss''

* Shimejis are those cute little desktop mascots that run around your screen

* The "White Girls" [[MemeticMutation meme]] apparently going around
is Kissy the Kissing Fish, who was voiced by the creator's daughter of four years without any script. Better schedule an appointment with your dentist...probably related to works that evoke this reaction.

trope illustrator.

[[folder:Literature]]
* ''Literature/ASeriesOfUnfortunateEvents'': Invoked with the first few minutes of TheFilmOfTheBook, which is quickly and mercilessly subverted by a RecordNeedleScratch.
** In one TakeThat, the narrator refers to real-life poet Edgar Guest as "a writer of limited skill, who wrote awkward, tedious poetry on hopelessly sentimental topics," invoking this trope.
* For {{Literature/Redwall}}: '''Dibbuns!''' (Especially in the later books).
* ''Literature/HarryPotter''
** Rowling sends up this trope with [[Characters/HarryPotterMinistryOfMagic Dolores Umbridge]] in ''[[Literature/HarryPotterAndTheOrderOfThePhoenix Order of the Phoenix]]'', as she's described as having images of insipid kittens mewling on the walls of her office wherever she works and her voice is described as "high, girlish" and sounding like "poisoned honey," she wears a black hairbow, and in the movie she is seen putting loads of sugar (PINK SUGAR) in her tea (also pink). This is a subversion, because she's actually a [[SadistTeacher sadistic,]] evil, and [[FantasticRacism bigoted]] old hag.
** Beatrix Bloxam, author of the "Toadstool Tales" book series that was banned by the Ministry of Magic because the stories caused nausea and vomiting. One would normally assume this meant the stories were scary, as exemplified in [[http://spitefire.livejournal.com/21148.html this]] fanfic. But in Dumbledore's notes within ''Literature/TheTalesOfBeedleTheBard'', it's revealed that the child readers' negative reactions were instead due to Bloxam having re-written Beedle's and others' wizarding fairy tales so that they're sickeningly sweet. "Then the little golden pot danced with delight - hoppitty hoppitty hop! - on its tiny rosy toes! Wee Willykins had cured all the dollies of their poorly tum-tums, and the little pot was so happy that it - " *BARF*
** Then there's the epilogue: "All was well" ... a bit too well for those sensitive to excessive cuteness.
* Many people react in this way to the over-the-top, frequent love scenes, love phrases and love acts in the ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'' series.
* The late Dorothy Parker, reviewing books under the name Constant Reader, made her feelings about the Franchise/WinnieThePooh book ''The House At Pooh Corner'' plain: "And it is that word 'hummy', my darlings, that marks the first place in ''The House at Pooh Corner'' at which Tonstant Weader fwowed up."
* How Susan's charge Twylla in ''Discworld/{{Hogfather}}'' ''tries'' to act to endear people to her, but Susan will have none of it.
-->'''Susan''': Real children don't go hoppity-skip unless they are on drugs.
* [[LoveFreak Madeline Bassett]] in Creator/PGWodehouse's Literature/JeevesAndWooster stories. Even Bertie Wooster, who's hardly the poster child for cynicism, finds her more than a bit much.
* The new dog book epidemic (TheDogOnlyAFamilyCouldLove, ThePupAfterMertle, MarleyAndMe), adorable stories of man's best friend are this.
** In the words of one reviewer from EntertainmentWeekly - "Not to be callous, but I've had it! I'm sure Oogy and Pukka are great pooches, but their cloyingly cute books are enough to give you a case of canine diabetes."
* Lewis Carroll's lesser known duology, the ''Literature/SylvieAndBruno'' books. The overly-cutesy perfection of the title children is probably the main reason these books are not given the same love as Alice.
* In the Christmas-themed ''More & More & More Tales To Give You Literature/{{Goosebumps}}'', one of the short stories, ''A Holly Jolly Holiday'', dealt with a young girl whose older sister bought a video of a vomit-inducing Christmas special. The video had the power to turn those who watch it for a prolonged amount of time into near-carbon copies of the main character, Susie Snowflake.
* In-universe example from ''Literature/TheHost''. Souls kept television around after taking over the planet, but every single pre-invasion show (save, briefly, for ''Series/TheBradyBunch'') was booted off the air and replaced with the Souls' original programs. All of them fit this trope.
* ''Juniper'' by Robert Kraus. A preschool book about a bunny named Juniper, who lives in an Easter egg. He befriends a doe named Jeanette, she decides never to go home, and they play happily ever after. And one gets the depressing impression that any [[Literature/WatershipDown elil]] that ate them would get sick from the cloyingness.
* The ''MillyMollyMandy'' stories.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Live Action TV]]
* Lampshaded in ''Series/{{Psych}}'' when Lassiter tries to win back his estranged wife with sugary-cutesy figurines and an equally nauseating card. When she rejects him, he takes the sugary-cutesy figurines down to the shooting range and happily blows each one away.
* ''Series/BarneyAndFriends'', to most people over the age of four. Some of these folks become parents and the "purple freak" is forgiven as being an instant thirty minute babysitter.
* ''Series/HeresHumphrey'' is this due to the mundane nature of each episode, the cheery kid-sung songs and a host that talks down to the viewers. Is there any surprise that Australian kids between the age of six and sixteen have a strong dislike for him?
* Oh boy Willow and Tara in the early stages of their relationship in ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'', the episode "Family" being the sappiest episode ever. It ended with the two of them hugging while floating in the air. Thankfully they became a much more realistic couple towards the end of season 5.
* PlayedForLaughs on ''Series/{{Angel}}'' where a children's show is stealing souls. Watching one episode Angel hears one of the songs played, begins quivering with rage at how sappy it is before demanding they go all Jihad on the show.
* ''Series/TheTenthKingdom'' largely avoided this... an exceptional feat for a 10-hour miniseries about fairy tales. But in certain places, the sappiness factor was cranked UpToEleven. See also: Hearts and butterflies swarming through the air in Kissing Town under a ''pink, heart-shaped moon.'' Insulin, STAT. Add in the literal LoveIsInTheAir, most exemplified by the massive pink heart which appears over Wolf and Virginia's head as they share their first kiss, and the little Cupid girl skipping through the streets dispensing fortunes, and... yeah.
** Then there's the singing ring...
* ''Series/{{Seinfeld}}''
** Parodied in the episode "The Soup Nazi." George and Elaine are disgusted by the sappy nicknames Jerry and his GirlOfTheWeek constantly call each other. So George decides to strike back by doing the same thing with Susan. [[GoneHorriblyRight But the plan works too well, and Susan starts babbling like a two-year-old]].
** A surprisingly straight example, for a show centered on four cynical {{Jerkass}}es (although Kramer and occasionally Elaine [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold could be very well-meaning]]); some of the child characters who appeared now and then could be pretty sugary. One example being the boy in the hospital Kramer accidentally donated the Yankee birthday card to in the episode "The Wink."
* The Creator/{{MTV}} Music/MileyCyrus New Year's Special ''A Miley-Sized Surprise'': The Veronicas dressed up as fairies, a high-pitched sugary voice reading horrible poetry with the most TotallyRadical {{Painful Rhyme}}s imaginable, and all the gushing about making a difference combined.
* Connie Talbot from ''Series/BritainsGotTalent''.
* In later episodes of ''Series/FamilyTies'' we get little Andrew Keaton, the youngest of the four Keaton children. It even affects the politics-obsessed Alex P. Keaton
* The ending voice over segments in ''Series/ModernFamily''.
* Creator/TheBBC's ''Series/RobinHood'' occasionally strays into this sort of territory with its uplifting messages and such. Then the writers, in their infinite wisdom, decided to have an episode filling in Robin and Guy's backstory. Cue Child!Robin developing his addiction to vomit-inducingly-noble stances while throwing out tax collectors.
* This trope is a staple of a video known as the Palate Cleanser on ''Series/WebSoup'', which immediately follows the segment "Things You Can't Un-See."
* The various ''Franchise/StarTrek'' spinoffs have several episodes set on the resort planet, Risa. It's supposed to be the Federation's greatest vacation place, but both the environment and the locals are sickeningly nice and hospitable. Justified in-universe by the weather being artificially controlled and the locals' hospitality expressing mainly via [[FreeLoveFuture free love attitudes]].
* The Doctor's holographic family in the ''Series/StarTrekVoyager'' episode "Real Life" start out like this, but B'Elanna tells him how unrealistic this is and he agrees to let her alter the programme to make it more realistic.
** She also invokes it by first saying, "I am stopping this before my blood sugar levels overload."
* Semi-parodied among Franchise/TheMuppets with Bean Bunny. The Muppet that Henson Studios learned to love to hate.
** The 1981 episode of ''Series/TheMuppetShow'' with Music/LindaRonstadt, particularly the finale, where she sings "When I Grow Too Old To Dream." It's very heavily sentimentalized - resident {{Jerkass}} Rizzo the Rat is actually ''shedding tears'' as he listens to the song.
* ''Series/DoctorWho'' has [[http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Adipose the Adipose]], essentially ''living fat''. (Leave it to Series/DoctorWho to combine this with BodyHorror...)
** See also "Fear Her". [[{{Narm}} "Feel the love!"]]
** Some fans complain that the Tenth Doctor and Rose got like this.
** It sort of parodied this trope in the bizarre and controversial story ''The Happiness Patrol'', from the Classic era. Basically, the Doctor and co. travel to a society where ''everyone'' is happy, all the time. Except it's discovered later that being anything ''but'' happy is treated as a crime. The TARDIS is painted pink, and one of the villains is a "Kandyman".
* In an episode of ''Series/HaveIGotNewsForYou'', Stephen Fry, upon seeing Victoria and David Beckhams' coat of arms (the motto being something along the lines of Love Friendship), he quipped "sometimes there just isn't enough vomit in the world."
** He made the same joke on QI when panelist Clive Anderson's buzzer was the sickeningly saccharine "Everything I Do, I Do It For You" by Bryan Adams.
* Animal Planet's ''Series/TooCute'' documentary series contains graphic depictions of CUTENESS.
** [[http://animal.discovery.com/videos/too-cute-kittens-extra-footage/ There's even scenes]] that are TOO CUTE FOR T.V.!
* An obscure television series called ''Hug-a-Bug Club'' was pretty much ''Series/BarneyAndFriends'', except with insects instead of dinosaurs.
* ''Film/TheStarWarsHolidaySpecial''. It's particularly jarring when you consider that at the end, Luke and Leia join them, and their families were killed in the movie. It's even more jarring when you consider that [[FunnyAneurysmMoment in a couple decades, Chewie will have the moon dropped on him]].
* This was a major complaint about ''Series/FullHouse'' back in the day. But hey, if the show didn't fit this, it wouldn't have [[Administrivia/RenamedTropes been]] the {{Trope Namer|s}} for [[SentimentalMusicCue Full House Music]]. Seasons 6, 7, and 8 toned down a bit on this, though, only having that occur whenever [[CousinOliver Nicky and Alex]] are involved. On an interesting note, any moment on a show that is overly sappy (even if the show itself is not normally) is called a "Full House Moment" outside of Wiki/TvTropes.
* Invoked on ''Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000'' with Nummymuffin Coocolbutter, an impossibly adorable pet created by Dr. Forrester so he can take over the world while everyone is preoccupied with one. He ends up getting sucked into the CutenessProximity himself before this can happen.
* The end of the TV film of ''Series/TheStand''. King ended the book with a mix of light and dark,but the miniseries really turned up the sentimentality and happier stuff.
* Parodied on episode three of ''Series/MontyPythonsFlyingCircus'' when Eric Idle played a children's storyteller who read stories that started out like this but [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids rapidly went south]]:
-->'''Storyteller:''' Rempletweezer ran the Dinky Tinky shop in the foot of the magic oak tree by the wobbly dum dum bush in the shade of the magic glade known as Dingly Dell. Here he sold contraceptives and... (''turns pages anxiously'') discipline?... naked?... (''turns book sideways, apparently looking at an illustration'') With a ''melon''!?
* "Sprout." Just,"Sprout." The fact that the main character is a baby chicken who speaks only in squeeks is only the beginning of the sugar coma!
* Penelope Garcia from ''Series/CriminalMinds'' tends to evoke this in the fans, since in some episodes her cuteness can go UpToEleven (especially in later seasons). Her wardrobe is always colourful, and her tone is extremely playful, and not just with [[PlatonicLifePartners Derek Morgan]]. It's {{lampshade|Hanging}}d in "No Way Out II: The Evilution of Frank" by her boss, Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner, when he profiles the team to his boss, Erin Strauss (reviewing his conduct), saying that Garcia fills her room with cute figurines and pictures for her to "remind herself of humanity when faced with the horrors that fill her screens".
* The climax of the ''Series/{{Frasier}}'' episode with Frasier's ex-wife Nanny G. Yes...the ''stage show''. Good grief, the '''stage show'''!!!
* In one episode of ''[[Series/{{Blackadder}} Blackadder the Third]]'', Edmund needs Prince George to marry Amy Hardwood, daughter of an industrialist, whose "nosey-wosey is so tiny, sometimes I think the pixies gave it to me!" Coincidentally, this predated by only a few years Hugh Laurie as Bertie Wooster having to get disengaged from Madeline Basset, who Amy might be a parody of (although Madeline lacks Amy's secret double-life as a man-voiced, squirrel-murdering highwayman.
* ''Series/SesameStreet'' tries to subvert this at every turn, but as characters like Elmo and Abby Cadabby gained popularity, moments like [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_AoYXuCxzc this]] were unavoidable.
* ''Series/{{Teletubbies}}''. That is all.

[[folder:Music]]
* In general, music falling under this trope (songs that make your teeth decay) is called "schmaltz."
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwbkklN0XQw Faster by Matt Natason.]] One line, sung very sweetly and softly, is "You taste like sunlight and strawberry bubblegum."
* Parodied in Music/KatyPerry's video for ''California Gurls''. She and the other characters are pieces of a fictitious board game called ''Candyfornia''.
* Made fun of in Meghan Trainor's video for ''All About That Bass'', in which everything is of pastel colors and doll-like. At some moment, Meghan and a boy are stiff like Barbie dolls.
* [[Music/{{Schnuffel}} Snuggle Bunny]] (Schnuffel In German), a CGI bunny by Jamster that sings cute songs. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrtNQluMU3c They use this music video as a commercial for ringtones.]] So cute! So obnoxious!

Also Snuggelina is Snuggle Bunnie's girlfriend which means that Snuggle and Snuggelina are [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming love birds!]] [[http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_n9doxvp1um1sivu0so1_500.jpg Then there's the art work]] by the company.
* Japanese idols. UsefulNotes/{{Kawaisa}} and {{moe}} to the max.
** Of special note is Music/KyaryPamyuPamyu. Song titles include [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoK8DaJRDaM CANDY CANDY]], [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzC4hFK5P3g PONPONPON]] (Pop Pop Pop) and CHERRY BON-BON.
*** If you like cute boys, there's the [[Music/{{Vocaloid}} Len]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcKwDTJcdUI cover]] of PONPONPON.
** Music/KodaKumi takes this trope on frequently when she feels like ditching her sexy image. Songs like Koi no Tsubomi, Birthday Eve, Stay, Joyful, Wonderland, Melting, Bambi, Twinkle, KAMEN... if the songs don't sound too cutesy, don't worry! The accompanying [=PVs=] will turn your blood to molasses.
** " Sugar Rush" by Japanese pop group Music/AKB48, a song for the faux video game 'Sugar Rush' in the Disney movie Wreck it Ralph. The game is a parody of children's racing games especially ones found in Japan, set in a world made of candy, with candy themed race cars and candy themed racers. They also filmed a music video in which they dress up in candy themed costumes likewise in a candy themed world.
* The song "Honey," sung by Bobby Goldsboro. It got a lot of votes in Creator/DaveBarry's Worst Song Ever poll because, as one person put it, "Bobby never caught on that he could have drilled a hole in himself and poured the sap out." And this being Goldsboro, that's just for starters.
* Disney pop. Even the ''break-up'' songs are cute and ''bouncy.''
* Almost any song by ''[[VideoGame/{{Touhou}} IOSYS]]'' that has gotten an animation, several of them listed [[AwesomeMusic/TouhouProject here]].
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oL871Wbi1oc Even without a video to accompany this, your blood will turn into syrup.]]
** Then there's "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVtTNN8jJXU Neko Miko Reimu]]"...
* Once you understand what the lyrics mean in English (or if you've even heard it [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySp7JOw9uao sung in English]]), "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vTqv8naUdY Bouken Desho Desho]]," opening theme of [[LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya an anime that needs no introduction]], ''[[SlidingScaleLongName easily]]'' falls into this. Thank goodness for the ''[[Manga/SayonaraZetsubouSensei despair]]'' [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUYCX0905lo treatment]].
** Then there's "[[DancingTheme Hare Hare Yukai]]"... EarWorm, anyone?
*** And even happier than the above, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERGGVE7HRfM this.]]
*** I see your Mikuru and raise you [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYwr68ObbMg Kyon's sister]].
** Not sure about "Bouken Desho Desho," but just remember that "Hare Hare Yukai" is being sung by ''Haruhi'', not her voice actress...
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJMKfvUfW_o Pink Dinosaur]].
* ''Music/KidzBop.'' Small children cover songs never, uh, ''[[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids intended]]'' for their demographic.
* "The Christmas Shoes" by New Song with the adorable, dirty little scamp with the dying mother.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FyjKQvWKw8 "Butterfly Kisses,"]], by Bob Carlisle, is highly pukeworthy.
* Music/{{Vocaloid}} Yuki Kaai has managed to somehow be even more adorable than her sisters. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXTsI9XEamI Case]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlvpKdFtOPM in]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPeJBn_QFQM point]].
* Speaking of Vocaloid, Oliver is often portrayed as this. It's parodied in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXO3pNOgF6o this song.]]
** Takoluka. If you're not grossed out by her, you're probably fawning over the mere sight of her.
*** The audio drama [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Dx65lqDl78 "Let's Speak in English with Luka Megurine"]] has Len and Rin attempting to speak English with Tako Luka. Hearing the two attempt to pronounce "road roller" is especially adorable.

It just keeps getting sweeter and sweeter.

** Subverted in one part of WebVideo/AMVHell 4, with [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTAEwkSnBFk BABY!Sasuke and his big brother Itachi]].
*** There's also a parody featuring [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion the first Rei and Naoko Akagi]]...
* Music/TaylorSwift, despite how well written and performed most of her music is, can sometimes fall into this. Even [[GreenEyedMonster pure, unadulterated envy]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuNIsY6JdUw can sound tooth-rottingly saccharine]] when coming from her.
** Good luck finding a better aversion than [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCMqcFAigRg "Picture To Burn"]], though.
** Unlike many of the other examples on this list, however, Swift actually has a sense of humor about this and sometimes makes fun of herself for it.
** Her last album, ''Red'', pretty much averts this trope.
* Plenty of Music/MartinaMcBride's material can fall into this category. If you can't stand ''her,'' you will probably puke out your guts over Music/TaylorSwift.
** "This One's for the Girls" deserves special mention. Clearly intended to be about female empowerment, this song's lyrics were [[{{Narm}} not well written]]. For example, she puts the spotlight on various walks on life, but for the 25-year-olds, she forgets to give any real encouragement.
* The entire genre known as "Twee Pop," a subgenre of indie rock. Mind, some of their lyrics are biting or even angsty, but the presentation is wrapped in pink.
** Bubble Gum pop; Janet Jackson's pre-''Control'' work deserves honorable mention.
* The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' SurprisinglyGentleSong ''Your Guardian Angel'' starts out this way, but then suddenly goes into hard rock mode toward the end.
* The song [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvpRViH-2J8 Brownie the Cat]] by The Brilliant Green is pure unadulterated High-Octane Adorable Fuel.
** Put it to an [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGsy-NeEGzA adorable AMV]] to make it a WMD (Weapon of Mass D'awww.)
* "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9nE2spOw_o Sugar, Sugar]]" from ''[[Franchise/ArchieComics The Archies]]''-- aka the poster child for sweet 60s pop music.
** ... which produces a completely different picture if you assume that "Sugar" and "Honey" are {{Unusual Euphemism}}s.
* Donna Lewis' ''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdydipoUjkw I Love You Always Forever]]''. ''especially'' the chorus. If you can hack that one, though, you're set.
** And another of her songs, ''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUOcSoHBcJA Mother]]''.
* Doubling as an EarWorm, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSvOowL7rkU Moji Pittan.]] Even more so if you understand the lyrics. It's a lot better with the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rle2zmmMzS0 Angry German Kid]] treatment.
* Music/MichaelJackson could be ''awful'' about this when he was trying to be heartwarming and/or tearjerking: "Someone in the Dark," "Gone Too Soon," "Heal the World," "Childhood," and "The Lost Children" (the first is from the ''[[Film/ETTheExtraTerrestrial E.T. -- The Extra-Terrestrial Storybook Album]]'', on which his overemoted narration ladled syrup all over a film that largely avoided this trope). After his death, the sentimentality of him and his fans was turned UpToEleven, as the video for the posthumous single [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oCCnxBos10 "Hold My Hand"]] (with Akon) proves -- happy little dancing multiracial children, sparkles, balloons, hearts, angels, you name it.
** In "Will You Be There," he delivers a maudlin, sobbing monologue.
* Dear Lord, Music/JustinBieber. Only ''he'' can make a 16 year old male sound and look like a 10 year old girl. Pairing him with rappers only makes it worse.
* "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koJlIGDImiU&feature=av2e Hero]]" by Enrique Iglesias, a song so ridiculously syrupy that you can feel your teeth rotting out of your head while listening to it. Then listen to the ''WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries'' [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF8-FF_V8wQ version]] instead!
* Everything that Hellogoodbye has ever recorded. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05VaUDa6k9A This]] (''When We First Met'') is their latest song, and it's not even near their previous hit, ''Here In Your Arms,'' on the cute-o-meter.
* Similarly, anything by Mika. His reign of cuteness teams up with a large-scale rampage of LyricalDissonance, with songs including not getting too caught up in love [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6md5RSnVUuo&ob=av2el (with an adorable cartoon video as well, which includes nearly everything in the precautionary list at the top of this page)]] and a [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gX0AJbRjJRE married doctor who gets in a secret relationship with another man.]]
* Parodied in Music/LosCampesinos!'s video for "Death To Los Campesinos!" - the band had been pigeon-holed as a cutesy twee-pop band and so in the video showed their frustration by having the band being killed off by kittens, rainbows, confetti, and vomiting flowers.
* Anything made by Music/OwlCity. The song "Fireflies" makes insomnia sound saccharine.
* It's odd for Music/WithinTemptation, but "In Perfect Harmony" creates cavities with each repeat of the chorus.
** "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgqDURxuZo0&ob=av2n Utopia]]" takes this UpToEleven.
* "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YriPIujLtsA Long Haired Lover from Liverpool]]" by Jimmy Osmond. (Yes, an ''{{Osmond}}.)'' Dear God, it makes a lot of the other songs here look macho.
* For those who can't stand Music/VanessaCarlton's voice, her work will occasionally fall into this, but especially the ''Heroes and Thieves'' album.
* Most anything by Math The Band, a Nintendocore duo. I believe "saccharine" is the operative word.
* ''How Much is that Doggie in the Window?'' -- butchered by HomerAndJethro in ''How Much is that Hound Dog in the Window?''
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-ejCD6ZR0U "Dear Mr. Jesus"]] by Power Source, is a hideously overwrought Christian pop/rock song about the evils of child abuse, sung by a six-year-old girl, and it somehow made it to #61 on the Billboard charts.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hKMFBbJZVI&feature=relmfu A Child of the Street]] by Philippine (now former) child idol singer, Jaymie Baby (ugh, even her name tastes like diabetes) has it singing about a child on the street, but possibly about an orphan or a young beggar too. If you're nostalgic, you'd probably say to yourself this is probably something [[ComicStrip/LittleOrphanAnnie Annie]] would sing. She's more known as a rapper of children-targeted songs. If you're a Filipino (or just someone who can understand their language) the other songs can count as well because of how thematic and childish it sounds.
* Heintje, a German child star singer from TheSeventies. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0yqKrGKukE Listen to his "Mama"]].
* "Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows" sung by Lesley Gore at the end of ''Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs'' fits this. It's as sweet as the lollipops in the title.
* Kina Grannis' [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOu0DuxFAT0 "In Your Arms"]] is this [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming in the]] [[TropesAreNotBad best possible way]].
* The Backstreet Boys could be seen as this back in their prime.
* "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri, an extremely sappy, sugary-sweet love song that ended up being used in the credits of ''Film/BreakingDawn''.
* The more upbeat strains of PowerMetal are sometimes accused of this by other metalheads. One particularly memorable review puts it thus:
-->Freedom Call's ''Crystal Empire'' is a shiny flurry of sparkling Carebears prancing through fields of poesies with rainbows shooting out of their asses and sunbeams shining in through one ear and out the other without obstruction, and I'll be damned if it doesn't grate on the nerves.
* "My Front Porch Looking In" by Music/{{Lonestar}}:
-->There's a carrot top who can barely walk, with a sippy cup of milk\\
A little blue-eyed blonde with shoes on wrong 'cause she likes to dress herself\\
And the most beautiful girl holding both of them\\
Yeah, the view I love the most is my front porch looking in
* If you find that the early stuff by Music/TheSweet, like "Funny Funny", is not a convincing example, just hear their later stuff, say, "Blockbuster", first. And THEN "Funny Funny".
* If ''Falling Into You'' does not put Music/CelineDion into this territory, ''nothing'' does. Not even "My Heart Will Go On."
* Many Eurobeat songs fall into this category, with their hyperactive beats, saccharine synth hooks, and {{Narm}}y [[{{Engrish}} mangled English]] lyrics.
* Music/ArianaGrande has clearly gone to great pains to ''avert'' the impression. One look at, or listen to, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aZjD6Izd5Y “Put Your Hearts Up”]] and you’ll see why she feels that way.
* Guitarist and soloist Music/{{Juniel}}'s "Pretty Boy" has the singer gushing over a PrettyBoy and repeats lyrics like "Hallo hallo, baby hallo hallo, baby oh oh oh my boy!" against very bubble gum music. Its concept for the promotions and music video were also overly sweet - much pink, tutus, aegyo, ''dancing'' and lovey-dovey stuff ensued.
* Music/FTIsland's self-titled song is a very upbeat {{Silly Love Song|s}} with cutesy singing and lyrics that compare love to things like chocolate, a "forever living puppy", magic glasses, a flying subway...
* "God Made Girls," courtesy of one [=RaeLynn=]. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tl1uv6gB4hE Just listen to the introduction of the clip]].
* [[Music/{{Chicago}} "You're the meaning in my life/You're the in-spi-raaaaaatioooon..."]] (And keep in mind, this was ''after'' Peter Cetera left.)
* Even Music/TheBeatles aren't safe, as anyone who's ever heard [[EarWorm "All You Need is Love"]] (BUM-BA-BA-DA-DUM) can attest.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Newspaper Comics]]
* ''ComicStrip/LoveIs''. Concentrated and undiluted example.
* ''ComicStrip/FamilyCircus''. almost no one but 6-year-olds and grandmothers actually finds it anything but sickeningly sweet.
* ''ComicStrip/RoseIsRose''.
* ''ComicStrip/FoxTrot'' has featured the iMac-parody the iFruit, which resembles a pear and features the sugar-sweet message "Welcome to iFruit. Hug me." When you turn it on.
-->'''Jason''': iThink iwill b sick.
* ''ComicStrip/{{Monty}}'' played with the trope, adding the alarmingly cute Giggles the Bear to the cast. The strip claims readership reached an all-time high, citing letters like "After reading today's 'Giggles' strip, I cut it out and cuddled it - signed, My Inner Child," and "When I saw your new character/product line 'Giggles,' I felt a peculiar stirring in my loins - signed, Comic Syndicate Executive."
* An in-universe example in ''{{ComicStrip/Peanuts}}''. Before Linus was old enough to read and write, he would have Charlie Brown take down his letters to Santa Claus, and they were so overly saccharine (Linus admitted he was trying to butter him up), Charlie Brown had to quit writing, claiming he was getting nauseated.
** Peanuts itself was accused of this trope near the end of its run.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tabletop Games]]
* Subverted again in ''TabletopGame/{{Munchkin}} Fu'' with the monster card "Big Eyes, Small Mouse." Its description? "Too cute to live. Your duty is clear."
* TabletopGame/{{Candyland}}.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Theater]]
* "She's in Love" from TheMusical version of ''Disney/TheLittleMermaid'' (it's sung by Ariel's sisters and Flounder). Just...uughh.
* Subverted in ''Theatre/CharlieAndTheChocolateFactory'': Veruca Salt is an adorable-looking, blonde, pink-clad, ballet-loving-down-to-the-tutu tot...and a SpoiledBrat extraordinaire who's AllTakeAndNoGive to her forever-accommodating dad. Their mutual IAmSong "When Veruca Says" is the cutesiest-sounding number in the show, too, playing up LyricalDissonance. When she decides she wants one of Willy Wonka's nut-sorting squirrels though, she learns the hard way that cute is not nice...
* ''Theatre/TheSoundOfMusic'', despite its success on Broadway, became regarded as treacly and old-fashioned. The movie made some attempts to tone this down (e.g., changing the placements of some songs, casting actors who could try and add dimension to their roles) without completely eliminating it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Toys]]
* Most toy lines and cartoons aimed at young girls. Particularly {{Franchise/Barbie}}'s EverythingsBetterWithPrincesses spin-off toyline.
* Mattel's Sunshine Family were based on the fact that [[NewAgeRetroHippie Hippies]] were leaving Haight-Ashbury, moving to rural areas and going Back to the Land.
* Sanrio. Oh my God, Sanrio. Hello Kitty, My Melody, Little Twin Stars, Tuxedo Sam, ''Sugarbunnies...''
* Franchise/MyLittlePony, [[EarWorm My Little Pony...]] though this is not quite as intense as you might expect, thanks to the WeirdAlEffect. They ''are'' cute ponies in pretty much every possible color, most have cute symbols on them (often flowers), a lot of them are at least partially pink, and some (like Gigglebean) have absurdly cutesy names.
** Actually subverted in some (but NOT all) of the cartoons, as well as the toy line itself. See the Western Animation folder for examples. There are plenty of non-pink ponies, and some have surprisingly awesome symbols, including thunderbolts[[labelnote:*]]Firefly, Lightning, Thundercloud, G4 Rainbow Dash, Thunderlane, Sassaflash, Honey Rays, various others[[/labelnote]], dragons[[labelnote:*]]Baby Ribbs, Puff[[/labelnote]], shields[[labelnote:*]]Shining Armor, Fire and Flame[[/labelnote]], [=UFOs=][[labelnote:*]]Star Hopper[[/labelnote]], tornadoes[[labelnote:*]][[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Tornado]][[/labelnote]] and fireballs[[labelnote:*]]Fireball, Waterfire, Firecracker Burst[[/labelnote]]. Many of these were among the original generation. And some of the more recent villains from ''[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Friendship is Magic]]'' have even managed to get made as toys in the G4 line, including the Queen Chrysalis talking toy - a very dark toy which says things about [[TakeOverTheWorld taking over Equestria]] and [[EmotionEater feeding on your love]] for her if you press the speech button. She even has her EvilLaugh. Played with in the case of the talking Nightmare Moon toy however - she looks evil enough, but doesn't say anything evil (or in-character) whatsoever. The Guardians of Harmony spin-off consists of straight-up action figures, including even more villains than the main toy line.
* Franchise/LittlestPetShop. Those eyes are ''horrifying.''
* That darn Squinkies commercial.
* {{Toys/Lalaloopsy}} is this, but with a dash of WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeonDrugs?
* WesternAnimation/PJSparkles
* Franchise/TheCareBears
** Subverted in '''almost all''' of the cartoons tho. Save for one ''Adventures in Care-a-Lot'' special and two ''Play-Along'' era made-for-video specials, there is always a villain in the series, no exceptions.
* Kawaii Crush: UpToEleven. Pretty much the whole point.
* Creator/FisherPrice's Laugh and Learn line, particularly the Love to Play Puppy and Sis plushes.
* Franchise/LeapFrog toys whose target audience are toddlers. Special mentions should be made for the Scout and Violet toys.
* Any toy from V-Tech's Baby line.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Video Games]]
* Given that video games are generally less plot-driven and character focused than other mediums, even genuinely superb games can fall into this trope. ''VideoGame/SuperMarioWorld'', despite being an excellent game all around, succumbs to this trope with moments like the game's opening music (including the brief chime when the "Nintendo Presents" opening pops up) and the Yoshi's Island map. This is further exasperated by the fact that the (at the time) competing ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' entirely averts this trope. Much of the Franchise/SuperMarioBros franchise counts as this. The main characters are all cartoonish, colorful, and happy, many of the allies and [[AdorableEvilMinions enemies]] are {{Ridiculously Cute Critter}}s, and the music is usually happy and cheerful. Even BigBad SelfDemonstrating/{{Bowser}} can swing between being an IneffectualSympatheticVillain and a [[VileVillainSaccharineShow more menacing]] KnightOfCerebus.
* Flowey in ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' pulls this at [[https://youtu.be/BSUpcWRibAs?t=4m38s your first meeting.]] [[spoiler: IT'S A TRAP!]]
* ''VideoGame/PuttPutt'' is known for being this trope, especially [[FranchiseKiller the final game, which wasn't very well-received at all]].
* Not that ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' is ''entirely'' free from diabetes, especially where the [[RidiculouslyCuteCritter Chao]] and [[TokenMiniMoe Cream the Rabbit]] (who owns a pet Chao) are involved. It's also happy to subvert it: Tails usually manages to avoid being ''too'' adorable due to his GadgeteerGenius tendencies, and Marine the Raccoon's and Sticks the Badger's boisterous personalities similarly keep them from falling into this trope. Any time Amy Rose appears in a significant role can dramatically crank up the cute factor, particularly her Sonic Heroes incarnation with her [[HeartBeatDown heart attacks]]. Her theme songs are also incredibly positive and happy, but [[AwesomeMusic still great]]. Suffice it to say for every cute character, there's an equally tough counterpart to keep things upbeat but not quite overly cute.
* Much like its proverbial predecessor, ''VideoGame/FreedomPlanet'' has characters and interactions that can be too saccharine for their own good. The art style takes the already bright colors and cutesy animal designs from the Sonic series and adds even more girly sparkles and flowers with [[SceneryPorn ancient Chinese backdrops]]. Lilac's a GenkiGirl with a lot of spirit, but has many badass qualities to back it up and drops the graceful lady act when she's angry. Carol's a bright green kitty with a motorcycle, but lies more on the badass end of BadassAdorable. And to be fair, the most saccharine moments are tongue-in-cheek, with Carol's reaction to Lilac and Milla's interactions [[AsideGlance piercing the fourth wall]], and these moments balance out [[KnightOfCerebus Brevon's appearances]]. Even so, when he's not around, Milla's large eyes, sweet voice, and innocence can drive most hardened players to crack a "daww" or two. [[spoiler:This just makes his brutal BodyHorror on her even worse]].
* ''VideoGame/SuperMonkeyBall'' is practically about cute monkeys playing with magic hamster balls, [[SurpriseDifficulty until you come across a level ]][[ThatOneLevel that will make you tear your hair out.]]
* The designs of many ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'', especially Baby Pokémon like Cleffa, Pichu, Igglybuff, Togepi, Azurill, and Happiny. The Pokémon-Amie feature in ''VideoGame/PokemonXAndY'' will cause this, even for Pokémon that aren't generally cutesy-looking. It involves petting ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}},'' and feeding them sweets.
* Parodied in ''VideoGame/DiabloIII'' with [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=JeQzJC-vS40 Whimsyshire]] as a TakeThat towards complaints about early screenshots being "too colorful."
* Parodied in ''VideoGame/KingdomOfLoathing'':
** It is possible to summon a love song so saccharine that it does a fairly decent amount of damage.
** Iiti Kitty. During nearly all attacks, they state that it's an adorable monster. For a mummified cat trying to beat you senseless. Iiti is Ancient Egyptian for "Hello."
** Hell, "cute" was added as the sixth [[ElementalRockPaperScissors element]], though nothing actually uses it. Yet.
* Felicia from ''VideoGame/FireEmblemFates'', a CuteClumsyGirl {{Moe}} {{Meido}} with pink hair and an adorable high-pitched voice who's subservient to the player. [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] in that she's also [[NinjaMaid a competent fighter]], but she's very much this trope during her Supports and [=SkinShipping=].
* The redesigns of the ''[[http://www.dabbledoo.com/ee/images/uploads/gamertell/littlest_pet_shop_wii.JPG "Littlest Pet Shop"]]'' pets. They were originally just small cartoon animals, but now they're saccharine googly-eyed {{Animesque}} chibi horrors (a wee monkey shouldn't have ''jowls'', darn it!). And you should see what they did to the ''Sims''...
* The entirety of ''VideoGame/TwinkleStarSprites'' (a puzzle/shooter/fighting game) is about the same color and sweetness as a pack of Starbursts. Strangely, the game is highly enjoyable nevertheless.
* ''Franchise/{{Kirby}}'' - at least, until its {{vil|eVillainSaccharineShow}}lains bring the MoodWhiplash. ''VideoGame/KirbysEpicYarn'' turned this UpToEleven with the art style and the cutscenes lovingly narrated by someone who sounds like he's reading a bedtime story to an infant, and the fact that its villain was a comparatively-silly yarn wizard with a magic sock [[note]]instead of, [[VideoGame/KirbysDreamLand3 say, an]] EldritchAbomination that [[BloodyMurder attacks using its own blood]] and [[EyeScream rips its own eye out]][[/note]] didn't help matters.
* ''VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft''
** Mug'gok the Ogre. Granted, most single-headed Ogres aren't exactly the brightest gemstones in the mine, but Mug'gok's childish rants and raves are kinda sappy.
** Furthermore. The tauren babies in Nagrand and Agmar's Hammer. The first time you see them, you WILL squeal so loud that your entire vocal system will splatter over the walls.
** No [=NPC=] in [=WoW=] is more sickeningly adorable than [[http://www.wowhead.com/npc=39930#comments Mylune]]. All of her quests are about saving critters in Hyjal. She says she can speak deer (It's all in the nose) and if you don't save the little fawns, she'll give you the big eyes (Yes, her eyes grow big and dewy). She's happy when you save the deer because "now they can grow up and have ADVENTURES!" [=P.S.=] She thinks you're swell for saving the critters.
*** The "give you the big eyes" part can also be a hilarious case of DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment when you're a [[KnightInShiningArmor Paladin]] or a [[NatureHero Druid]]; you were going to save the little fawns anyway.
*** Mylune actually deserves a special mention here because her deliberately saccharine speech tends to sound funny rather than sickening. It seems that Blizzard deliberately parodied this trope with her.
* Princess Anastasia, [[InThePastEveryoneWillBeFamous yes]], ''that'' Anastasia in ''VideoGame/ShadowHearts: Covenant'' takes this trope and runs with it. And she [[EnfantTerrible damn well knows it, too.]]
* ''VideoGame/PhantomBrave'': Marona. Especially any scene with both her and Castille in it.
* ''VideoGame/{{Persona 4}}''
** Kanji Tatsumi, the JerkWithAHeartOfGold, when accused by police of bullying (and he was innocent, as he was just making plushies for a boy and his mother), has this to say to the police:
-->"Dolls! I made them. They're dolls! Go and see them for yourself. They're so cute they'll give you diabetes! The instantly-lethal kind!"
** Not to mention ''Nanako...''
* ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss.'' [[RidiculouslyCuteCritter MIEU. And all the other cheagles]], though to a lesser degree. Especially jarring because this game is probably the darkest and has easily the highest death toll in the ''series.''
* ''VideoGame/EternalSonata'', pretty much every time Polka is on screen. Several other characters qualify as well.
* The first half of Zone 3 in ''[[VideoGame/NicktoonsUnite Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots]]'' appears to be this, what with the pretty pink colors and the cute little suns and plants and dolphins and butterflies and bees decorating the area. The twist? This is where the SurpriseDifficulty kicks in... and you have to remind yourself that you're still in an EternalEngine run by a MadScientist voiced by Creator/TimCurry.
* ''VideoGame/{{Eversion}}'' [[CrapsaccharineWorld starts that way]].
* ''VideoGame/LocoRoco''. Wait, what?
* ''VideoGame/YoshisStory'' takes place in a cutesy storybook world with baby Yoshis as playable characters making, well, babylike sounds trying to get back the "Super Happy Tree" from Baby Bowser. Unlike the previous ''VideoGame/YoshisIsland'', which was for all ages and featured challenging stages, this game with its saccharine world and low difficulty level was obviously targeted towards little kids.
** Low difficulty, sure. Unless you're trying to get through level 6-3, that damn Ghost castle. And since it's targeted towards little kids, the precision timing and tendency of the ghosts to give chase whenever you weren't staring the bastards in the eye, this level can qualify both as That One Level and Nightmare Fuel.
*** 4-2 could also apply because of the Blurps, right?
** ''VideoGame/YoshisIsland'', while indeed more difficult, is just as adorable. You're a cute dinosaur, and you have to relay a cute baby across a colorful, crayon-drawn, (mostly) happy island environment to another cute dinosaur. Rinse and repeat until the baby is reunited with its missing twin brother.
*** The [[UpdatedRerelease Game Boy Advance port]] added the ''Yoshi's Story'' sounds but made Baby Mario's crying less annoying.
** The soundtracks for every Yoshi game after the first seem to be trying as hard as they can to invoke this trope. Almost every song is quiet, gentle, and sounds like something out of a preschoolers' cartoon. Even the boss themes don't sound particularly threatening.
* The little mole girls in Moleville from ''VideoGame/SuperMarioRPG''. Also from that same game, we have the Mystery Egg. You can buy it from the blue-spotted Toad in Moleville after getting the 5th Star Piece, and it can only be hatched by Peach while she's wearing the B'Tub Ring and using the Egg 10 times. Afterwards, it becomes the Lamb's Lure, in which a cute, chubby, little lamb rolls around, turns an enemy into another lamb, and they fly up into the sky. If you do that 48 times, the Lamb's Lure becomes the Sheep Attack, which summons a bunch of these cute little lambs darting across the screen turning all enemies into even more lambs. If you don't find that cute, then ''get help.''
* In the Babeland level of ''VideoGame/DukeNukem3D'', there's these cartoon mice walking around, saying things like "We're gonna have a wonderful day!" in the most cringe-inducingly cutesy voice imaginable. No wonder that, when you shoot one, Duke says, "Damn, that was annoying."
* ''VideoGame/{{Beatmania}} IIDX 16'': Empress is already cute and happy and ''pink'' from the get-go. Then someone goes and plays [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d0HiykFZQs I'm Screaming LOVE]] and it all goes to hell. Fluffy-bears-swimming-through-candy-carrying-spoons hell.
** There's ''plenty'' of precedent for this. Raspberry Heart. Sweet Lab. Romeo and Juliet. With Your Smile. Sigsig. Poodle. Silvia Drive. Eco-G. ICF 5800. Not to mention Wish, Double Loving Heart, and Sun Field...from DISTORTED.
** One word: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6s0HK-pKj0&fmt=18 smooooch]]. It's been parodied to the level of MemeticMutation.
* Regina Berry in ''VisualNovel/PhoenixWrightAceAttorney: Justice for All'' is the sweetest sheltered little lion tamer. Half the circus is in love with her (and EvenTheGirlsWantHer) and she thinks that when people 'go away' they go up to the sky and become stars. It's so intense that you're a little sympathetic when you find out [[spoiler: she was the one Acro was trying to murder.]]
* As its own official Getting Started guide puts it, "Even death is cute in ''VideoGame/LunaOnline''!"
* PlayedForLaughs in the Creator/AdultSwim Flash game ''SugarWiki/RobotUnicornAttack'', in which you play as the title's robot unicorn, dashing through a sparkly, purple world collecting fairies while Music/{{Erasure}}'s ''Always'' loops in the background.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEhWA0ejiLs Kissy Poo]] for Xbox Live Indie Games, although it might be [[JustifiedTrope justified]] seeing how it was designed for pre-schoolers. Players control the titular Kissy Poo, [[ForHappiness who must cheer up all the sad animals with a sweet kiss.]]
** [[DancePartyEnding DANCE TIME!]] [[HappyDance Do a little dance, because it's dancin' time!]]
* Xbox title ''VideoGame/RazesHell'' really let the player loose on those goddamned cuddlie-wuddlies. Eliminate them all. Though don't feel bad about it; said adorable creatures take WhatMeasureIsANonCute to [[WellIntentionedExtremist "slight" extremes]].
* The first couple hours of ''VideoGame/{{Klonoa}}: Door to Phantomile''. [[MoodWhiplash Then it starts getting]] [[TearJerker depressing, tragic,]] and sometimes downright horrifying.
* Parodied in ''[[VideoGame/{{Creatures}} Creatures II]]'', (and probably in Creatures I as well) where the baddies and goodies taste like diabetes but commit all sorts of bloody acts of violence on each other.
* In the ''VideoGame/DungeonKeeper'' games, this seems to be one of the reasons for the war against the surface, or at least so suggest the mission briefings. Eg: "Sing Song. A joyous realm, filled with life and music. Let us silence their wailing voices once and for all."
** Also Snuggledell.
--> Floppy eared bunnies are encouraged to hop around the fields surrounding the hamlet, bringing happiness, love, and more bunnies to the entire area.
* UsefulNotes/{{Xbox 360}} Kinect launch title ''VideoGame/{{Kinectimals}}''. Those cubs has to be the cutest things to ever grace Microsoft's console.
** Though when it was first shown at E3, the presentation was so full of {{Narm}} that the word "Skittles" became an instant meme.
** So they're ''not'' [[UncannyValley the creepiest things]] ever to be put together from ones and zeroes?
* This trope has been played straight, exaggerated, lampshaded, parodied, deconstructed, exploited, and who knows what else in the ''ArTonelico'' series. Saki from ''ArTonelico3'' even has an attack that turns enemies (including people) into ''cake''.
* ''VideoGame/BubbleBobble'' and ''VideoGame/RainbowIslands'' are teeming with UsefulNotes/{{Kawaisa}}. Taken UpToEleven in world 4 of ''Rainbow Islands'', where all of the enemies are toys and it has even brighter colors than the other worlds.
* A literal version in ''VideoGame/TheSeveralJourneysOfReemus'' -- the honey made by Sugar Bees is so potently sweet that ingesting even a small amount will cause a temporary diabetic coma while the body sorts out all this extra sugar. Injection works just as well, so any schmuck with a dart gun can ''weaponize'' the effect.
* In contrast to the somber [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moy2gSOgFvU Tragic Marionette]] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdtJj5hwDGc Sinful Rose's Fragrance]] that play on the GameOver screens of the first two ''Franchise/{{Disgaea}}'' games, ''VideoGame/{{Disgaea 3|Absence of Justice}}'' has the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eywOADyH7JM Maritsu Evil Academy Entrance Applicant Recruiting CM Song]]: a tune so peppy and cheerful that most fans suspect that the game is making fun of them for dying.
* In ''VideoGame/RodLand'', absolutely everything is cute, from the characters, to the bosses, to the surrounding environment.
* In the ''VideoGame/TeamFortress2'' official video "Meet The Pyro," it is revealed that the Pyro's delusional psychosis makes him/her/it perceive the world as this. For example, where Pyro is incinerating someone as they scream in agony in reality, Pyro sees it as showering them with bubbles and rainbows out of a shiny brass horn shaped and held like his/her/its flamethrower.
** The Pyrovision Goggles make the game this. Everything is bright and colorful, everyone (including the player) laughs cheerfully when they die, dominating a player is perceived as becoming best friends with him, and The Pyro has some toys that can only be used in Pyroland that are perceived as lethal weapons in reality (ex. Rainblower = Flamethrower).
* While the dream eaters in ''VideoGame/KingdomHearts3D'' are cute, they aren't overwhelmingly so. However, when you start playing games with them and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BikEwlP1ewM this song]] accompanies it...
* In ''VideoGame/BarbieSuperModel'', everything that Barbie owns is pink, there's bright and happy scenery everywhere, a big point of the game is dressing Barbie up in colorful outfits, and the game was made for little girls, who tend to love things that taste like diabetes.
* ''VideoGame/SnowboardKids'' has you play as SuperDeformed 10-11 year old children, with huge heads and huge noses. The game's levels featured props such as a gigantic snowman with a CatSmile, really short, cute penguins, an amusement park (with a gigantic circus tent used as the skydome), and a beautiful (within N64 hardware constraints) grass-filled valley with rustic brick buildings near the finish line.
** Despite the cutesy exterior, the game's difficulty level was fairly high, and the mechanics, even to this day, are very unique.
** [[SequelEscalation The sequel took it even further.]] The character designs in the sequel had things such as buck teeth, comically huge glasses, overalls, and nose band-aids. The texture art looks like it came straight from a pop-up book, and the anthropomorphic animals were much more present.
* Let's not even get started on the sickeningly cute sounds some of the enemies make in the first ''VideoGame/{{Pandemonium}}''.
* Subverted in ''VideoGame/ConkersBadFurDay''. The game opens with a cutesy N64 logo dancing around (complete with cliche "nursery music"), but then [[spoiler:Conker storms in, horror movie music abruptly plays, and he proceeds to gleefully saw the N64 logo in half with a chainsaw - literally killing it]]. The game itself subverted this during development, as it was originally intended to be a literal representation of this trope, until Creator/{{Rare}} decided to give it a DarkerAndEdgier makeover.
* While we're on the topic of Rare games, ''VideoGame/BanjoKazooie'' both plays this trope straight and subverts it. Some of the enemies and especially side characters are sickeningly cute. However, Banjo and Kazooie themselves (despite their cutesy appearances) are actually pretty [[DeadpanSnarker quippy and sarcastic]], even veering into [[GettingCrapPastTheRadar blatantly adult humor]] from time to time.
* ''Franchise/SylvanianFamilies: Otogi no Kuni no Pendant''. Cutesy little girl rabbit finds injured pastel cupid-type fairy, "bandages" it with her handkerchief, and later has to return the pendant it lost. 'Nuff said.
* ''VideoGame/SuperMarioGalaxy'' has the Baby Stars that you feed star bits too.
* In ''Pop'n Magic'', [[http://www.thegaygamer.com/2012/08/manual-stimulation-popn-magic-pc-engine.html pictures of sweets fill the background of the manual's cover and its second inside page.]] The game's world isn't quite a SugarBowl, but it's definitely on the cute side.
* Let's just leave the artwork for the Ice Tower's Viral Frost ability in ''VideoGame/BloonsTowerDefense 5'' and call it a day. Basically, it's the Ice Tower's monkey wrapped up in a blanket.
* ''VideoGame/MagicalChaserStardustOfDreams'', despite being a {{Doujin}} FightingGame, falls into this due to the fact that it crosses over several CuteWitch animes. All of them are done in PuniPlush style.
* ''VideoGame/PanelDePon'' is heavy on the {{kawaisa}}, but is ultimately more of a subversion, being more or less on an ''Animal Crossing'' or ''Puyo Puyo'' level in terms of cuteness. [[DolledUpInstallment It was still too much for Nintendo of America/Europe at the time, though.]] (Ironically, [[VideoGame/{{Yoshi}} the series it was dolled up as]] is just as fluffy, to the point that very little besides the character designs was changed.)
* ''VideoGame/VibRibbon'' is a cute RhythmGame with vector graphics. While it's in black and white with very little color, the main character, Vibri is really adorable with her appearance as an extremely detailed stick-figure bunny with floppy ears and chirpy, pitched-up voice, alongside a cheerful, yet [[CrowningMusicOfAwesome awesome soundtrack]].
* ''VideoGame/TheLegendaryStarfy'' features a cute little round star, his pink little sister, a lost bunny astronaut, a mermaid, sleepy baby seals, and a kitty ninja. Almost all the levels are adorable with calming music, and even the BigBad looks super squeezable in his first form.
* The ''VideoGame/{{Borderlands 2}}'' DLC ''Assault on Dragon Keep'' has two areas start out this way. Story-wise. However, the other original Vault Hunters call Tiny Tina out on it. So it turns almost immediately into a subversion of this trope.
** At the end of the story, however, it becomes this again when [[spoiler:Buttstallion saves the realm]].
* ''VideoGame/TheSims3: Katy Perry Sweet Temptation'' adds numerous sweet-themed stuffs, such as cupcake beds, sundae sofa candy columns, etc. When it was first announced, and sneak peek images were released, many "I got diabetes" comments were posted on forum boards.
* ''VideoGame/Minecraft: Love And Hugs update'' items were renamed, reskinned, and re-purposed in this april fools day update... for players who had disabled all resource packs who would only have things re-purposed and be a bit confused about why creepers gave them flowers

* ''WebComic/{{Narbonic}}'' passed into this territory for a while. It was lampshaded by the characters wondering if they were disturbing the readers by being all cutesy and flirting all the time. They then remembered that they were [[CardCarryingVillain evil]], so the readers could suck it.

* A lot of children's shows that air on Creator/{{PBS}} fall into this. Eventually the network had the sense to separate them from the ones that work into a block called "Creator/PBSKids Go".
* Many of the Creator/HarmanAndIsing cartoons had a tendency for this when the duo moved to Creator/{{M|etroGoldwynMayer}}GM.
* Lady Rainicorn from ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' looks like a [[http://i35.tinypic.com/3518pkx.jpg toy]] but is really a BadassAdorable.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Animaniacs}}'':
** Mindy. Between "Wakko's Wish" and the Buttons and Mindy episode "Mindy in Wonderland," one could vomit from the sugar overdose. Especially with the line "Fuzzy Bunny," and, "'kay I love you bye bye."
** Dot. The song "I'm Cute" draws this reaction from Yakko and Wakko as Dot sings about how cute she is.
** A later episode has The Warners forced to see [[WesternAnimation/TheSmurfs The Snugglers]] by the censors after the kids gave Attila The Hun a perm.
** "Baloney And Kids" parodies this with the namesake Barney clone.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Arthur}}'' becomes this during Kate and Pal's episodes. The series could be seen as becoming something of it as a whole thanks to the new animation.
%%* ''WesternAnimation/BabyLooneyTunes''.
* Awww... wook at [[http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/WF/batman/btas/bios/babydoll/09.jpg Baby]] [[http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/WF/batman/btas/bios/babydoll/08.jpg Doll]] (''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheAnimatedSeries''). She's [[OlderThanTheyLook really a 30-year-old]] [[{{Yandere}} insane]] woman who merely [[TheFakeCutie acts like a little girl]] thanks to her massive issues stemming from being a FormerChildStar whose body never matured past childhood.
* Neither-Neither Land in the ''WesternAnimation/{{Beetlejuice}}'' cartoon deliberately invokes this, being a pastel sugar bomb where everything is forcibly sweetness and light. It's run by Little Miss Warden, a sort of undead doll with Shirley Temple curls who insists that everything must be cute at all times. It's actually quite disturbing and it's not hard to see why ghosts are terrified of the place.
* Ed Otter from ''WesternAnimation/BrandyAndMrWhiskers'' when he tells that Dougie the turtle story: "It was a misty morning in the amazon, much like today, and Dougie the turtle was wondering why his shell was so hard while his heart was so soft. Oh whiskers, you had never seen colors so bright and pretty. Dougie knew right away that this was a very special cesspool. And so the happy magic piggies laughed and danced and played until the wee-wee hours of the morning. The end!"
* The ''Franchise/CareBears'' have a reputation for this (it's what "The Dummi Bears," a ShowWithinAShow on ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'', was inspired by) - and they ''are'' a group of pastel-colored teddy bears, but the extent of its Tastes Like Diabetes status is more a case of the WeirdAlEffect.
** Though the overbearing cuteness in the first two movies are thankfully eclipsed by the films' ''darker'' undertones which, like any series or movie with a VileVillainSaccharineShow position, pretty much kill off any chance of it being ''completely'' saccharine. Plus, in retrospect, the so-called saccharine scenes in the first two movies and the original TV series are nothing compared to the Care Bears movies and TV series of today, as well as some other kids' franchises, to say the least.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Chalkzone}}'' is considered by many to be the [[SugarWiki/SweetDreamsFuel sweetest and cutest]] of all the Franchise/{{Nicktoons}} (although ''WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot'' comes pretty close). This initially hurt its reception amongst viewers though as many it was too saccharine, but the show has earned itself a decent-sized fanbase over the years.
* Many of Creator/ChuckJones's pre-''WesternAnimation/TheDoverBoys'' shorts such as the Sniffles series.
** And of course there's his little penguin, who brings out rare protective reactions from WesternAnimation/BugsBunny, quite against his will.
** His 1950's cartoons with Pussyfoot (''WesternAnimation/FeedTheKitty'', ''Kiss Me Cat'', etc.), however, beautifully avert this. They're adorable, to be sure. But their witty writing and excellent plots keep them from falling into this trope.
* ''WesternAnimation/ClassicDisneyShorts'' tend to get this from some audiences. It's both for the fact that they come from the company that makes movies that fall victim to the trope, and being the exact opposite of [[WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes their Warner Bros.]] and [[WesternAnimation/TomAndJerry MGM counterparts]]---cartoon shorts involving ''very'' cartoony-looking animals who rarely engage in slapstick, and with a tone that overall seems extremely kiddish.
* ''WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor'' has Rainbow Monkeys, a line of stuffed animals (and also cartoons, cereal, and even an actual species) which in the show represents everything that Tastes Like Diabetes.
* Parodied in the extreme in 'The Vampire Strikes Back' episode of ''WesternAnimation/CountDuckula'' where they visit the Planet Cute.
** Planet Cute returns in fellow Creator/CosgroveHall production ''WesternAnimation/AvengerPenguins'', where it is villain Caractacus P. Doom's worst nightmare.
* ''WesternAnimation/DanielTigersNeighborhood'': Daniel's pure concentrated cuteness should be illegal in 50 states. Actually, the whole show is pretty saccharine.
* ''WesternAnimation/DinosaurTrain''. Cute neon-colored child dinosaurs explore the friendliest possible universe where all species across all eras have non-stop fun. It tends to dance around the meat eating, showing Buddy eating carrion, but never mentioning the actual or potential death of a dinosaur. Armor plates, etc., are shown as protecting against "mean dinosaurs".
* The Land Of Dreams in ''WesternAnimation/TheDreamstone'' is a high octane example, especially with the Noops, Rufus, and Amberley. The place is perpetually cheery and cutesy, and the show's trademark slapstick violence tends to downgrade heavily whenever the town is the main focus, especially during early seasons.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Duckman}}''. Duckman's two teddy bear assistants' (Fluffy and Uranus) sweeter-than-sweet behavior often results in Duckman ''literally'' pulling the stuffing out of them in the most violent way possible.
* Webbigail Vanderquack from ''WesternAnimation/DuckTales''. Half her appearances were even accompanied by an [[EarWorm equally cutesy]] {{Leitmotif}}. And unlike Molly in ''WesternAnimation/TaleSpi'' (see below), she ''never'' seemed to be deliberately utilizing the trope.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'' episode "So Totally Spaced Out," where little cutesy creatures that speak in PainfulRhyme known as "Giggle Pies" become a huge threat to the cuteness-hating, violence-loving inhabitants of the planet Yugopotamia. Somewhat ironically, Giggle Pies actually taste of manure when eaten themselves.
* ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'':
** The 'Creator/{{Disney}} Universe'. That is, until Mort Goldman the Jew shows up, prompting a reaction to the annoyingly persistent rumor of Creator/WaltDisney's anti-semitism.
-->'''Stewie:''' Oh yeah I forgot. This is a Disney universe...
** In the episode "The Former Life of Brian," Brian gushes about his [[spoiler:son]] to extremes. When he finally leaves, Joe remarks to his owner, "Peter, your dog is giving me diabetes."
** Brian as a puppy in "The Man with Two Brians." D'awww~
** Invoked by Tom Tucker when Diane Simmons pretends to act excited and interested by their interns, Meg and Niel.
--> '''Tom''': Don't act any cheerier, Diane, you'll give us all diabetes.
--> '''Diane''': Bite me, Tom!
* Lampshaded in ''WesternAnimation/{{Fillmore}}''; Fillmore and Ingrid need to speak to a store manager regarding a case but they are delayed by a masked assailant. By the time the get to the store, it's closed for the day. Ingrid, the team {{Goth}}, acts like a cherubic waif to convince the store owner to talk to them.
-->'''Ingrid''': Stand back, I'm going to have to use my cute face. It won't be pretty.
--->(later)
-->'''Fillmore''': You really took one for the team, Ingrid.
* Just about any scene from ''WesternAnimation/TheFlintstones'' featuring Pebbles. Not only does sappy "nursery" music play whenever she comes crawling in but Fred, normally an amusing [[Series/TheHoneymooners Ralph Kramden]] type, [[CutenessProximity starts going all "Oh my little Pebbly-poo" whenever she's around]].
** In ''WesternAnimation/TheManCalledFlintstone'', she and Bam-Bam get [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfkgPieX4zY one of the most saccharine musical numbers in history]].
---> '''Pebbles:''' I know a way to make wishes come true/Easy as climbin' a tree/Just close your eyes and open your heart/Slowly repeat after me.../Tickle, toddle, nickel-y noddle/Toodle-a bell and a shoe/These are the magical words I say/ when I want a wish to come true
** The SpinoffBabies series, ''WesternAnimation/CaveKids'', is this trope played straight. Technically, it's like the Kate and Pal episodes of WesternAnimation/{{Arthur}} combined with the sweeter parts of ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'', with some mild magical Adventures stuff thrown in. And the villains are NotEvilJustMisunderstood. And each episodes end with a saccharine song reinforcing ThePowerOfFriendship at the end of every episode. Did I mention that the show stars baby Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm? [[note]]Unsurprisingly, the head honchos of Creator/CartoonNetwork (who're more inclined towards shows with slapstick and violence like ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls'') killed it after just 8 episodes.[[/note]]
* Foofy Wuggums, the [[TheWoobie little lost and frightened imaginary friend]] from the ''WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends'' TV movie ''Good Wilt Hunting,'' who is a ''pink teddy bear'' who speaks in ''BabyTalk''. Hell, just look at his ''name.'' And it certainly helps (?) that he's voiced by Creator/TaraStrong, the '''Ultimate Mistress of Cuteness.'''
* Despite its target audience, ''Literature/{{Franklin}}'' and ''Franklin and Friends'' [[AvertedTrope averts]] this for the most part. Occasionally however, some episodes just end up being a bit too sweet.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}''
** In the episode "Lethal Inspection," we get [[http://26.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l6196q7D251qa619oo1_400.jpg baby Bender.]]
** Lampooned mercilessly in the episode "Love and Rocket," and summed up nicely by Lrrr (Ruler of Omicron Perseii 8):
--->"This notion of 'wuv' confuses and infuriates us!"
*** And from the same episode, the Lovey Bears.
** An AffectionateParody comes from "Saturday Morning Fun Pit" in the form of "Purpleberry Pond".
* ''WesternAnimation/GarfieldAndFriends''.
** Parodied in an episode when Garfield wakes up and finds himself in a Franchise/{{Transformers}}-like action/adventure cartoon. He eventually manages to escape from this cartoon, only to wind up in a cartoon that is totally this trope. Naturally, he finds himself running back to the prior cartoon.
** Also the sickeningly cute Nermal. Yeah, the one Garfield is constantly trying to ship off to [[UsefulNotes/UnitedArabEmirates Abu Dhabi]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheGetAlongGang''.
* In ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls''
** In [[GravityFallsS1E5TheInconveniencing The Inconveniencing]]", Mabel eats a ''very'' volatile sugar snack that causes her to hallucinate that she's in a Lisa Frank parody world, complete with rainbow backgrounds and giant puppies modeled after Lisa Frank's work. There's also a dolphin with quadrupled arms with faces at each end which shoot colorful beams.
** In the series finale, [[spoiler: [[TricksterGod Bill Cipher]] tricks Mabel into making a deal with him in exchange for "making summer last forever."]] The result is a LotusEaterMachine where all of Mabel's fantasies come true, complete with an entire population of [[RidiculouslyCuteCritter Ridiculously Cute Critters]], constantly sunny weather, and singing trees. The characters even comment on how annoyingly bright everthing is inside the bubble.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Gumby}}'' could be this on occasion.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IZoUZiribo The song ''Take Me Away'']] from TheMovie can qualify as a cute love song between Gumby and Tara.
* That scene from the ''[[WesternAnimation/HeManAndTheMastersOfTheUniverse1983 He-Man]]'' and ''[[WesternAnimation/SheRaPrincessOfPower She-Ra]]'' Christmas special. "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPG3QDBz8BE Loooove and caaaariing…]]"
* Lila, the "ever so" sickeningly sweet farm-girl from ''WesternAnimation/HeyArnold!'', and Olga at times. Therefore, the episode where Lila becomes Olga's "little sister" as part of a program is absolutely rife with this stuff.
* In ''WesternAnimation/KaBlam'', when Henry or June turn the page to ''Life with Loopy'', this is what we expect.....and then we go five seconds into it.
* ''WesternAnimation/KryptoTheSuperdog'' has kittens and puppies galore and every one of them is melt-your-face cute.
* The "Buddy" series of ''WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes'' shorts in the 1930's were ''definitely'' this in many instances.
* ''WesternAnimation/MaggieAndTheFerociousBeast'' is full of this trope; everyone is a cute and colorful character, even-- no, '''especially'''-- The [[DeathbringerTheAdorable Ferocious]] [[GentleGiant Beast]], who is anything but.
* Roll had this reaction in the ''WesternAnimation/MegaMan'' cartoon to a park attendant's overly sugary demeanor and voice.
* The entirety of ''WesternAnimation/MissSpidersSunnyPatchFriends''. Being that it IS a show for little kids, it's kind of understandable.
* Hasbro's ''Franchise/MyLittlePony'' cartoons are famous and notorious for this, but reality is a bit murkier...
** The original 1980's cartoons had this to an extent (lord knows the theme songs did), at least until [[NightmareFuel the villains]] [[VileVillainSaccharineShow showed up]]. TheMovie was probably the most diabetes-laden part of G1, even with the villains. (Y'know, TheOneWith the ever-spreading, all-consuming, HatePlague-inducing, eye- and mouth-spawning living ooze that is frequently compared to the Shoggoths from the CthulhuMythos.)
** Played straight in some episodes of ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyTales''.
** [[AudienceColoringAdaptation It's mostly in the Direct-to-Video Generation 3 (early 2000's) that the My Little Pony cartoons acquired the reputation for tasting like diabetes]]. This generation contained, arguably, some of the cutest ponies in the show, and had a very feminine look towards it, as well as heart-warming friendship moments being used to their fullest. This got taken UpToEleven when the already-cute characters were {{retool}}ed into the "Animesque" style fans dubbed "G3.5". But even these two eras have their share of adventuring (in particular, the hot air balloon they take to the place they need to go always seems to end up with ponies needing to be saved from plummeting to their deaths, and ''never'' get into water in G3: the InevitableWaterfall is a certainty!) Basically, this whole franchise falls under the same category as PoundPuppies - it isn't ever as pure sugar as its ad campaign suggests.
*** Unintentionally subverted with one specific part of G3.5, ''Newborn Cuties'', and not in a good way. They obviously ''try'' to go for this, but instead, the peculiar art style and poor animation leaves the "cuties" looking very unsettling. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7ljjOTbLjg Behold.]]
** ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' from [[SugarBowl mere]] [[ThePowerOfFriendship subject]] [[ThePowerOfLove matter]] [[RidiculouslyCuteCritter alone]] is a very adorable and sweet show, so there is no shortage of diabetes and NarmCharm is in abundance. But that hasn't stopped it from playing around and [[SelfDeprecation lampooning itself]] to lessen the diabetes. While the show has dove into the sugar sweetness with no hint of irony whatsoever, it will sometimes throw lampshades on this as a source of comedy. Fluttershy's [[ShrinkingViolet cute shyness]] is sometimes played up for jokes. Pinkie Pie's singing and overly cheerful demeanor has irritated characters on ''many'' occasions, Spike mocks Twilight's excessively sentimental wrap-up in [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E23TheCutieMarkChronicles an episode]], The Cutie Mark Crusaders react to Big Macintosh's and Cherilee's [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E17HeartsAndHoovesDay sappy love talk with visible disgust]], and Rainbow Dash [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS5E13DoPrincessesDreamOfMagicSheep is utterly terrified of extreme cuteness]].
* ''WesternAnimation/PBAndJOtter''. And how! Nonetheless, this one has grown a notable fanbase, to the point that repeats were put back on air due to fan outrage.
* ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'':
** "Ducky Momo" appears the be this universe's equivalent to ''Barney the Dinosaur'' and other such sugary-sweet toddler shows, which is probably why Candace catches so much grief for liking it (or believes she would).
** PlayedForLaughs and exploited in the episode, "Meapless In Seattle". In it, we learn that Meap's planet is dominated by cuteness to the point that it’s almost a sugar rush for your brain. The entire plot is to obtain the substance [[AppliedPhlebotinum Cutonium]]. Mitch tries to take it to become irresistibly cute and, by effect obtain total power. [[spoiler: Mitch and Dr. Doofenshmirtz both end up taking it and transform into some of the most utterly cute and diabetic things on the show.]] This was likely meant to be a parody of the various other examples on this page.
** [[VocalDissonance If the war song on Meap's planet is anything to go by,]][[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhL5EiK7_Kc then yes, yes it is.]]
** Also the song "Sunshine and Bubble Gum" from the episode "A Real Boy." Not played seriously, and with a slight twist at the end of the lyrics:
-->'''Singer:''' If you're worried 'bout the sound, you can always scream into a pillow...
* Subverted (usually) by Bubbles Utonium on ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls''. She can induce diabetes in one moment then kick as much ass as her sisters the next.
* [[WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls2016 The remake]], on the other hand, gives us [[VillainOfTheWeek Allegro]], the panda whose face, tone of voice, and mannerisms can induce diabetic shock [[TheScrappy if not abject rage]].
* ''WesternAnimation/PuppyInMyPocketAdventuresInPocketville'': "Let the spirit of the friendship heart light the way the the magic fountain." The animal designs are this even more - even the bad guys are ridiculously cute!
* The direct-to-video and DVD ''WesternAnimation/{{Recess}}'' special "All Growed Down," with the main six as kindergarteners.
* ''WesternAnimation/RobotChicken'' is very fond of using this trope the same way ''Happy Tree Friends'' does. [[Franchise/MyLittlePony Apocalypse Pony]] anyone?
* ''WesternAnimation/RoliePolieOlie''
* The later seasons of ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'', particularly the ones with Dil and Kimi. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vndnx_QCUfk This promo]] for the show both plays straight and subverts this trope.
* One of Creator/TexAvery's earliest [[WesternAnimation/TexAveryMGMCartoons cartoons for MGM]], "Screwball Squirrel", deliberately started out this way with a cute Harman-Ising-type squirrel named Sammy. However, [[TakeThat it is all a set-up for a very rollicking cartoon that deliberately takes jabs at this trope]]. At the end of the cartoon:
-->'''Sammy''': My cartoon would have been cuter.\\
'''ScrewySquirrel, Meathead, and their OffScreenTeleportation doubles''': Oh, brother! NOT THAT!\\
''(they all [[BigBallOfViolence descend on Sammy and beat the crap out of him]])''
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretSaturdays'', [[EvilTwin Drew Monday]] is very much like this to Zak, when pretending to be his mother. She does later say:
--> "You do ''not'' know how nice it is to not have to pretend to ''care'' about you anymore."
* ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark''
** The opening scene in the episode "A Very Crappy Christmas," where Kyle and Ike wait for Mr. Hankey in the bathroom. They even left out cookies and milk for him [[spoiler: which got eaten by a cockroach]].
** Parodied and subverted with the episode "Woodland Critter Christmas", where the seemingly-cute forest creatures turn out to be devil-worshipping zealots.
* The "Best Day Ever" song from ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'' (sort of).
* ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'':
** When Steven finds out Peridot has never been introduced to music, he gets her to sing a song with him. Not only does she [[InstantExpert instantly master]] the notes, she even writes her own verse to the already sickeningly sweet [[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ss7rLjGAlQE song]].
--->'''Steven:''' Life and death and love and birth and peace and war on the planet Earth / Is there anything that's worth more than peace and love on the planet Earth
** [[spoiler: Ruby and Sapphire]] don't get much screen time, as they are usually [[spoiler: fused as Garnet]]. But when they DO appear on screen, their relationship is [[SickeninglySweethearts every dentist's nightmare]]. Perfectly illustrated in the episode Hit the Diamond, where the main problem for the Chrystal Gems is that they can't stop flirting long enough to focus on the game.
--->'''Steven:''' [[spoiler:Ruby]]! Stop being cute! And [[spoiler:Sapphire]], keep your [[{{Cyclops}} eye]] on the ball!
--->'''[[spoiler:Ruby]]:''' [[{{Pun}} Pun... intended?]]
--->'''Steven:''' What did I just say...
* The "[[ShowWithinAShow Animal Friends]]" children's show in ''WesternAnimation/SymBionicTitan''. The characters also speak in ElmuhFuddSyndwome.
* Molly Cunningham from ''WesternAnimation/TaleSpin''. Especially because they got a real little girl to voice her. Basically, every time she shows up on screen, expect the show to [[{{Anvilicious}} shove her cuteness down your throat]]. [[LittleMissSnarker She even calls HERSELF cute at one point, making her well aware of this trope]]. WordOfGod says that Molly was written that way essentially to offset her mother Rebecca's nagging tendencies towards Baloo, and bring out her softer and often [[MamaBear more protective]] sides.
* In ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitansGo'', when Raven is accidentally [[LiteralSplitPersonality split into 5 different versions of herself via personality]]. Beast Boy and Cyborg volunteer to go after the happy one. When they do, the three titans engage in what can only be described as this trope in spades.
** Weaponized against Rose Wilson. Sincere, unironic expressions of ThePowerOfFriendship physically debilitate Rose to the point where she is literally sick to her stomach.
* You would NOT expect to find this trope in ''Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles'', especially not in the 2003 incarnation... But the way [[https://i.ytimg.com/vi/xsFYeD6LkNk/hqdefault.jpg the Turtle Toddlers]] are drawn in episodes like "Father and Sons" was just too sickeningly cute for some viewers to stand. Baby mutant turtles should not have chipmunk-like buck teeth!
* Parodied in ''WesternAnimation/TimeSquad'', where they portrayed ''Creator/EdgarAllanPoe'' of all people as this. It's only until the characters start criticizing his pink cake that he's [[MaddenIntoMisanthropy maddened into misanthropy]] and becomes the poet that history knows him for.
* ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures''
** The pilot episode involves a cartoonist trying to come up with a cartoon about rabbits. Prior to creating Buster and Babs Bunny, one of his ideas is a cutesy-talking baby rabbit. He then scraps it, saying it will give the audience cavities.
** Played straight with the recurring character Li'l Sneezer. Ironically, he's basically the above scrapped character (complete with the same voice), but he's a mouse this time.
* The ''WesternAnimation/TomAndJerry Nutcracker Tale''. It is made more noticeable when you hear that the voice actors ([[Creator/TaraStrong except for one]]) come from [[Creator/TheOceanGroup Vancouver]], unlike other ''WesternAnimation/TomAndJerry'' films, and when you notice the sweetness of the narration.
** ''WesternAnimation/TomAndJerryTheMovie'' can be considered this too to a lesser extent, with the duo [[SuddenlyVoiced talking]] and [[FriendshipSong singing about being friends]] and rescuing an orphan.
* ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'': Chris [=McLean=] has a volatile hatred for gushy nice things and an obsession with drama. Heather and Alejandro acting like SickeningSweethearts freaked him out so much that he changed the rules to get them to turn on each other just so they would ''stop''. He also hated Ella for all her singing.
* ''WesternAnimation/WinxClub'' has the prison of Lightrock expose the inmates to great amounts of cuteness to bring them to reform. It got mixed results with the Trix: while in prison they swore to be even more evil once they were out, but when they were about to be brought back in two seasons after breaking out they were ''absolutely terrified'' of being imprisoned there again.
%%** Love & Pet
* In ''WesternAnimation/XiaolinShowdown'', whenever Jack Spicer enters the Ying Yang World and comes out good, he is this trope UpToEleven. The monks like him even less than they do when he's normal.

* What do you get when you mix a cat with a duck? You get [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oq9ytQ83Bu8 Maneki Neko-Ducku, who makes everybody happy.]]
* Daria [=McGrain's=] artwork mostly shows this trope, but that doesn't excuse the fact that nearly all of her artwork is definitely NSFW.
* Shimejis are those cute little desktop mascots that run around your screen being practically useless, but utterly adorable. Some of the cutest ones include Pokemon, Homestuck, Hetalia, and etc.
* The "White Girls" [[MemeticMutation meme]] apparently going around is probably related to works that evoke this reaction.

* Creator/AnneGeddes' baby pictures.
* The streetcar/tram system in Würzburg, Germany has a chorus of little kids announcing the next stop. Downright creepy, not to mention rather difficult for non-native speakers to understand.
* The Japanese street fashion [[ElegantGothicLolita Lolita]] has a crazy lovechild between Sweet Lolita and Decora; [[http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kxgdd7Hr761qa20ryo1_400.jpg OTT Sweet Lolita.]]
** Almost everything made by the brand Angelic Pretty. With names like "Toy Fantasy", "Melody Doll", and "Sugary Carnival"... yeah. And every print has accompanying big, glittery acrylic jewelry in shapes that relate to the print - ponies, teddy bears, candy, etc.
* Ride/DisneyThemeParks are full of this. "It's a Small World" is the most famous example, but the general "heartwarming and magical" aesthetic of parades, live shows, and so on can be wearying after a while, even for fans of the characters being featured. Even the most adult-oriented of the parks, Epcot in Florida, is occasionally prone to a little ''too'' much sugar making the {{Edutainment|Show}} go down, though it likely was a lot worse when the park opened (think songs like "It's Fun to Be Free", "Making Memories", "Tomorrow's Child", etc.).
* Greeting cards. All of them.
* There's a reason Lisa Frank is the trope illustrator.
