I created the Live-Action TV page and moved its various entries there.

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
* ''Series/TheAddamsFamily'' had a 1977 ReunionShow called ''Halloween with the New Addams Family'', which had most of the actors from the original show reprise their roles (they even have Ken Weatherwax and Lisa Loring play adult versions of Pugsley and Wednesday). The only actors who weren't able to reprise their roles were Blossom Rock and Margaret Hamilton, who played Gomez's mother Grandmama Addams and Morticia's mother Hester Frump respectively.
* Naomi Grossman plays Pepper in the second season of ''Series/AmericanHorrorStory'', ''[[Series/AmericanHorrorStoryAsylum Asylum]]'', and then again in the fourth, ''[[Series/AmericanHorrorStoryFreakShow Freak Show]]''. This is notable because the series is an anthology, and the actors play different characters each season (so far, three actors have shared scenes with Pepper in both seasons as different characters). This has led to speculation that each season takes place in a shared universe, notwithstanding the fact that there would currently be four identical Jessica Langes, Sarah Paulsons, Frances Conroys and Evan Peterses running around that universe.
** [[spoiler: This was confirmed in Episode 10 ''Orphans'' of ''[[Series/AmericanHorrorStoryFreakShow Freak Show]]'' when it is shown that the two characters are within the same continuity.]]
* ''Series/AshVsEvilDead'' brings back Creator/BruceCampbell as his iconic character Ash Williams. [[spoiler:Ellen Sandweiss, who played Ash's sister Cheryl in the original film, reprises her role in the show's second season.]]
* ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'' pulled off a rather impressive string of actors reprising their characters in a single scene in the 7th season opener, with all previous {{Big Bad}}s being impersonated by the new enemy who can take on the appearance of anyone dead or once dead. While one of them, Spike, had become a regular character on the series all of the others were reprised by the same actors.
** ''Buffy'' may also hold the record for the shortest role reprisal, bringing back Elizabeth Anne Allen to play recurring character Amy Madison for less than ''4 seconds'' in season 4 after accidentally turning herself into a rat in season 3. (She later got a ''proper'' reprisal in season 6.)
-->'''Willow:''' I mean, first she's a perfectly normal girl... [Amy, behind her, becomes human again and looks overjoyed]...then POOF! — She's a rat. [Amy's a rat again] I could never do something like that.
* Similar to the ''Buffy'' example, the climactic scene of the series finale of ''Series/DesperateHousewives'' featured the spirits of almost every character who had died on Wisteria Lane, played by the original actors. The first to be seen was Mike Delfino (James Denton), who'd died in the final season, and the last was Mary Alice Walker (Brenda Strong), who'd committed suicide at the start of the first episode.
* As a long-runner, ''Series/DoctorWho'' has done this several times.
** An amusing example of this is with Michael Kilgarriff as the Cyber-Controller; originally appearing in [[Recap/DoctorWhoS5E1TheTombOfTheCybermen "The Tomb of the Cybermen"]] (though voiced by another actor), when the character returned two decades later, Kilgarriff reprised the role in both body and voice.
** In 1996, Creator/SylvesterMcCoy returned as the Seventh Doctor for ''[[Recap/DoctorWhoTVMTheTVMovie Doctor Who: The Movie]]'' seven years after last playing the role, solely to [[BackForTheDead get killed off early on]].
** The 2005 revival includes Creator/ElisabethSladen reprising her role as Sarah Jane Smith in [[Recap/DoctorWhoS28E3SchoolReunion "School Reunion"]], and later in spinoff ''Series/TheSarahJaneAdventures'', which also featured appearances from Jo Grant and the Brigadier.
** Creator/PeterDavison reappeared as the Fifth Doctor in [[Recap/DoctorWho2007CiNSTimeCrash "Time Crash"]].
** The 50th Anniversary led to an increased number of reappearances:
*** [[spoiler:Creator/PaulMcGann]] reprised his role as [[spoiler:the Eighth Doctor]] for the mini-episode [[Recap/DoctorWho50thPrequelTheNightOfTheDoctor The Night of the Doctor"]], essentially [[spoiler:giving his incarnation a proper send-off after 17 years of mystery over his regeneration]].
*** In the special itself, [[Recap/DoctorWho50thASTheDayOfTheDoctor "The Day of the Doctor"]], [[spoiler:Creator/TomBaker, the Fourth Doctor]], made his first reappearance since departing the show, to the joy of many fans.
** All anniversary episodes do this by bringing past Doctors back. The [[Recap/DoctorWhoS10E1TheThreeDoctors tenth]] brings back William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton and the [[Recap/DoctorWho20thASTheFiveDoctors twentieth]] Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee (the others were {{Fake Shemp}}ed).
** It doesn't even have to be a special occasion. Pat loved coming back for [[Recap/DoctorWho20thASTheFiveDoctors "The Five Doctors"]] so much that he gladly did [[Recap/DoctorWhoS22E4TheTwoDoctors "The Two Doctors"]] a couple of seasons later.
** In the Series 9 opener [[Recap/DoctorWhoS35E1TheMagiciansApprentice "The Magician's Apprentice"]], [[spoiler: Julian Bleach returns to play Davros, creator of the Daleks. The last time he played the role was seven years earlier in the Season 4 finale [[Recap/DoctorWhoS30E12TheStolenEarth "The Stolen Earth"]]/[[Recap/DoctorWhoS30E13JourneysEnd "Journey's End"]]]].
** For Series 10, [[spoiler:John Simm]] is reprising his role as [[spoiler:the Master -- and he'll be sharing screen time with his successor in the role, Michelle Gomez, resulting in the series' first multi-Master story]].
** At the end of "Empress of Mars" [[spoiler: the Martians are welcomed into the Galactic community by Alpha Centauri, with Ysanne Churchman reprising her "gay civil servant" voice 43 years after "The Monster of Peladon" and 24 years after her retirement.]]
** Borderline example, with a MetaCasting twist, in [[Recap/DoctorWho2017CSTwiceUponATime "Twice Upon A Time"]], the 2017 Christmas Special where [[spoiler: David Bradley will appear as the First Doctor, after portraying Willian Hartnell (and thus the Doctor himself) in the 50th Anniversary docudrama ''Film/AnAdventureInSpaceAndTime''.]]
* ''Series/TheFlash2014'' reboot has Creator/MarkHamill reprising his role as the Trickster from the [[Series/TheFlash1990 1990 live-action show]] and ''[[WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague Justice League Unlimited]]'', while Amanda Pays reprises her role as Tina [=McGee=]. Vito D'Ambrosio also returns as Bellows, though this time, the character is the mayor, not a cop. [[spoiler: Additionally, the Season 3 premiere, [[Recap/TheFlash2014S3E1Flashpoint "Flashpoint"]], sees Alex Desert reprise the role of Julio Mendez.]]
** The Italian dub has Giorgio Lopez reprising the role of Trickster (again from the dub of the 1990 show).
* Creator/JonLovitz reprised his guest role from ''Series/{{Friends}}'' eight years after his first appearance, revealing that his drug habits had since cost him his job.
** Likewise, after appearing as a [[GirlOfTheWeek Guy of the Week]] for Phoebe in Season 1, Creator/HankAzaria reprised his role of David several times in the latter years of the show's run, first in a one-off appearance in Season 7, and then as a recurring character in Season 9 before [[RomanticRunnerUp losing out]] on Phoebe's affections to [[Creator/PaulRudd Mike]].
* ''Series/GirlMeetsWorld'', the SequelSeries to ''Series/BoyMeetsWorld'', features Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel reprising their roles as Cory and Topanga, now raising a family of their own. Additionally, characters from throughout the run of ''Series/BoyMeetsWorld'' have been brought back, always with the original actor playing them -- with the sole exception of Cory's younger brother Josh, who is given TheOtherDarrin treatment (to be fair, he was a toddler at the end of the original show's run, and played by a non-actor to boot).
* Season 2 of ''Series/{{Gotham}}'' has Creator/PaulReubens playing the Penguin's father, a role he originated in the 1992 movie ''Film/BatmanReturns'', though the character has a different name -- nor is that the only difference [[NiceGuy Elijah]] [[GoodParents Van Dahl]] has from [[AbusiveParents Tucker]] [[ParentalAbandonment Cobblepot]].
* It's fairly common for past ''Franchise/KamenRider'' characters to return in crossover movies and anniversary specials, though this is often done via {{Fake Shemp}}s since many of the actors have moved on to other projects. The ''Series/KamenRiderGaim'' film ''Kamen Rider Taisen'' is a notable exception, since it featured Creator/HiroshiFujioka reprising his role as the original ''Series/KamenRider'' from way back in 1971, as well as Ryo Hayami reprising his role as Series/KamenRiderX. A number of the actors from more recent productions like ''Series/KamenRiderFaiz'', ''Series/KamenRiderDecade'', ''Series/KamenRiderW'', and ''Series/KamenRiderWizard'' returned as well.
* After TheReveal of Chronos in ''Series/LegendsOfTomorrow'', Creator/SteveBlum as the voice of the character is this, [[spoiler: given he voiced [[WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold a version of Heat Wave before]].]]
* ''Series/{{Limitless}}'' has Bradley Cooper playing the recurring role of his character from the 2011 movie, acting as a sort-of mentor for the new protagonist.
* In an episode of ''Series/MadAboutYou'' Creator/CarlReiner reprises his role of Alan Brady from ''Series/TheDickVanDykeShow''.
* The 1980's revival of ''Series/MissionImpossible'' featured the return of Peter Graves as Jim Phelps. Additionally, Greg Morris reprised his role of Barney for a 2-part episode.
* The [[MilestoneCelebration 200th]] ''Series/{{NCIS}}'' episode "Life Before His Eyes" featured cameos from main and minor characters from previous seasons, [[BackFromTheDead even the dead ones]]. ItMakesSenseInContext.
* Whenever a series continuation is released on Creator/{{Netflix}}, the site has a policy to recruit as many of the original actors as possible. This is especially true with the foreign dubs, with a couple examples:
** Excellently, the Italian dub of ''Series/GilmoreGirls: A Year in the Life'' stayed at the same studio ([=PUMAISdue=]), with the main characters' voice actresses (Myriam Catania and Giuppy Izzo) appointing themselves as the dubbing directors and inviting all the original actors back after nine years.
* Twenty years after he played Miser Smee in ''Film/{{Hook}}'', Bob Hoskins reprised the role in ''Series/{{Neverland}}''.
* ''Series/NowAndAgain'': In the first act of the first episode Creator/JohnGoodman's character Michael Wiseman is killed in a subway accident and his brain is put into a new body, played by Eric Close. One episode of the series is told largely in {{Flashback}} and stars Goodman instead.
* Once ''Disney/{{Frozen}}'' characters were introduced in ''Series/OnceUponATime'', most foreign dubs had the voice actors from the local dubs of the movie reprise their roles.
* ''Still Series/OpenAllHours'' has Granville, Mavis, Mrs Featherstone and Nurse Gladys Emmanuel all played by the original actors, nearly 20 years after the previous series.
* Raymond Burr and Barbara Hale reprised their roles from the original ''Franchise/PerryMason'' series in the TV movies, 19 years later.
* ''Franchise/PowerRangers'' and ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' often has the previous years' cast reprise their roles for a crossover with the current Ranger. It also sometimes brings back older characters into later series as semi-regulars. For example:
** Jason Lee Scott (role reprised by Austin St John) in ''Series/PowerRangersZeo''
** Almost all former Red Rangers returned for ''Series/PowerRangersWildForce'''s MilestoneCelebration episode, "Forever Red". The only Red Rangers not played by their original actors were Aurico (who was a FakeShemp) and Rocky (who simply didn't show up).
*** The ''Sentai'' equivalent, ''Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger vs Super Sentai'', brought back three recent Rangers and two older ones: [[Series/KyukyuSentaiGoGoV Daimon Tatsumi]] (Kenji Shibata), [[Series/SeijuuSentaiGingaman Gouki]] (Teruhide Takahashi), [[Series/DenjiSentaiMegaranger Miku Imamura]] (Mima Higashiyama), [[Series/ChoujuuSentaiLiveman Yuusuke Amamiya]] (Daisuke Shima), and [[Series/JAKQDengekitai Soukichi Banba]] (Hiroshi Miyauchi).
** Tommy Oliver (role reprised by Jason David Frank) in ''Series/PowerRangersDinoThunder''
** Bulk (role reprised by Paul Schrier) in ''Series/PowerRangersSamurai''. [[spoiler:Skull (reprised by Jason Narvy) also made a cameo in the finale.]]
*** Bulk and Skull also made a reappearance in ''Forever Red''.
** For the [[Series/PowerRangersOperationOverdrive 15th Anniversary special]], the show got 5 Rangers from previous series to return as part of a grand alliance of veterans. While four of these were from [[Series/PowerRangersNinjaStorm the]] [[Series/PowerRangersDinoThunder most]] [[Series/PowerRangersSPD recent]] [[Series/PowerRangersMysticForce series]], the team was led by Adam Park, a Ranger from the [[Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers earliest]] [[Series/PowerRangersZeo days]] [[Series/PowerRangersTurbo of]] the franchise. This required Creator/JohnnyYongBosch to reprise the role for the first time in 9 years.
** The adaptation process caused two weird examples involving Machiko Soga, who played Bandora in ''Series/KyoryuSentaiZyuranger'' and whose footage was reused as Rita Repulsa in ''Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers'':
*** First, when ''MMPR'' was dubbed back into Japanese, Machiko was brought back as Rita's voice actor. It's not unheard of for ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' alums to dub their ''Power Rangers'' counterparts like this, but this is one of the few if only times that the person dubs over all of ''their own'' old footage.
*** Machiko returned to play a bit part in ''Series/MahouSentaiMagiranger'', though a different character from Bandora. ''Series/PowerRangersMysticForce'' then turned this into a role reprisal by making Rita a CompositeCharacter.
** ''Series/PowerRangersMegaforce'', especially for the second half's finale, saw many actors reprise their roles, particularly from the Saban era. Its Japanese counterpart ''Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger'' was an even huger example - there was at least one reprisal for each of the preceding 34 seasons of the franchise, from Naoya Makoto coming back to play original Red Ranger [[Series/HimitsuSentaiGoranger Tsuyoshi Kaijo]] to the entire cast of ''Series/TensouSentaiGoseiger'' reprising their roles in the MilestoneCelebration movie.
* Creator/KeikoHan voiced the cat version of Luna in ''Series/PrettyGuardianSailorMoon'', reprising her role from the original [[Anime/SailorMoon anime]].
* Mac [=McDonald=] made three guest appearances as Captain Hollister in the first two series of ''Series/RedDwarf'' and then reprised his role as a Recurring Character in all but one episode of Series VIII, broadcast eleven years later. Clare Grogan also made numerous appearances in the first two series as the original Kochanski and then returned for a brief scene in Series VI five years later.
** Selby and Chen, Lister's buddies seen twice in Series 1, also return eleven years later for the premiere of Series 8 with the same actors. Alas, Petersen wasn't there to complete the trio, but is referenced more than once.
* ''Series/SamAndCat'' was a spin-off/crossover/sequel series to ''Series/{{iCarly}}'' and ''Series/{{Victorious}}'', so it was only really a matter of time before some of the actors from the parent show reprised their characters in this series. This resulted in Eric Lange as Cat's odd improv teacher Sikowitz appearing in #[=MommaGoomer=], Liz Gillies as Cat's close friend Jade West, Matt Bennett as Cat's friend and crush Robbie Shapiro, and Nathan Kress as Sam's close friend and ex boyfriend Freddie Benson in #[=TheKillerTunaJump=], and Danielle Morrow as crazy ex-iCarly fan Nora Dershlit, Reed Alexander as blogger and long time iCarly enemy Nevel Papperman, and Noah Munck as the loveable but idiotic Gibby Gibson in #[=SuperPsycho=].
* ''Series/{{Smallville}}'': Creator/MichaelRosenbaum was brought back as ComicBook/LexLuthor for the GrandFinale, despite having been KilledOffForReal several seasons earlier.
* The Pilot of ''Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration'' featured a cameo of an elderly [[Series/StarTrekTheOriginalSeries Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy]] played by [=DeForest=] Kelley under heavy makeup.
** Zephram Cochrane was played by James Cromwell in ''Film/StarTrekFirstContact'', and reprised the role 5 years later in a video cameo that bridges the events of that movie with ''Series/StarTrekEnterprise''. Recycled footage from ''First Contact'' was used in a later episode dealing with the MirrorUniverse, with a FakeShemp used for new scenes.
** John Colicos reprised his Original Series role as Kor in ''Series/StarTrekDeepSpaceNine'', decades after playing him in the original series, alongside William Campbell as Koloth and Michael Ansara as Kang. Kor would become a recurring character in ''[=DS9=]'', and Kang would return in ''Voyager.'' The same Voyager episode, "Flashback," had Creator/GeorgeTakei return as Sulu re-enacting elements of ''Undiscovered Country,'' which includes Grace Lee Whitney as [[BridgeBunny Lieutenant Rand]] and a one-off background character in a more [[AscendedExtra pivotal role]].
** Carolyn [=McCormick=] playing a memorable holographic character named Minuet in a first season episode, then reprised the role in a very brief but pivotal cameo 2 years later.
** [[RealLifeRelative Wife of creator Gene Rodenberry]] Majel Barrett voiced the ship computer in all series (including the original, where she also played Nurse Chapel).
** The role of the Borg Queen was first played by Alice Krige in ''Star Trek: First Contact''. When she was brought into ''Series/StarTrekVoyager'' she was played by Susanna Thompson. In the SeriesFinale, however, Krige returned to the role.
* William Sadler actually played TheGrimReaper first in an obscure comedy sketch show called ''Assaulted Nuts''. Then came the more famous portrayal in ''[[Film/BillAndTed Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey]]'', after which he played the Grim Reaper for a third time in the ''Series/TalesFromTheCrypt'' episode ''The Assassin'', this time as co-host with the Crypt Keeper.
* The ''Series/TheXFiles'' pilot featured alien abductees Billy and Theresa, who returned years later in the season 7 finale, and even had some appearances in the following season. FBI agent Jeffrey Spender, after having apparently died in Season 6, came back horribly disfigured in one of the last episodes. All were played by the same actors.
* ''Series/DearWhitePeople'': Brandon Bell and Marque Richardson reprise their roles playing Troy and Reggie.
* Creator/ChristopherLee played Death in the Creator/CosgroveHall animations of the ''Literature/{{Discworld}}'' novels ''Discworld/WyrdSisters'' and ''Discworld/SoulMusic'' and then reprised the role in Creator/SkyOne's live action ''Discworld/TheColourOfMagic''.

* ''VideoGame/DisneyInfinity 2.0'' has Creator/SamuelLJackson returning to voice ComicBook/NickFury, the character he portrays in the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse. ** From [[VideoGame/LEGOAdaptationGame LEGO Marvel Super Heroes]] in addition to Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Loki, and Drax: Creator/NolanNorth as the Green Goblin (albeit the ''WesternAnimation/UltimateSpiderMan'' one).
* ''Disney Infinity 3.0'' continues this trend. From ''Film/TheForceAwakens'': Daisy Ridley as Rey, Creator/JohnBoyega as Finn, Creator/OscarIsaac as Poe Dameron and Adam Driver as Kylo Ren. Similarly, the cast of ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels'' return, too. The "Marvel Battlegrounds" playset not only sees the return of the prior voice actors from ''Marvel Super Heroes'', but are joined by Creator/JamesCMathisIII reprising his ''EMH'' role as ComicBook/BlackPanther, and Creator/GrantGeorge and Creator/JimMeskimen reprise their respective ''Assemble'' roles as ComicBook/AntMan and Ultron.
* In ''VideoGame/LegoMarvelSuperHeroes'', a significant proportion of the voice cast are sourced from earlier Marvel animated series and games.
** From the ''VideoGame/XMenLegends'' series: Creator/SteveBlum reprises his role ComicBook/{{Wolverine}}, as he always does.
** From ''VideoGame/TheIncredibleHulkUltimateDestruction'': Creator/FredTatasciore reprises his role as ComicBook/TheIncredibleHulk again, as per usual.
** From ''WesternAnimation/UltimateAvengers'' in addition to the Hulk: Creator/NolanNorth reprises his role as [[ComicBook/AntMan Hank Pym/Ant-Man]] and Creator/JamesArnoldTaylor reprises his role as the [[ComicBook/WinterSoldier Winter Soldier]] (albeit he was only Bucky in that film).
** From ''WesternAnimation/HulkVs'' in addition to the Hulk and Wolverine: Nolan North also reprises his usual role as SelfDemonstrating/{{Deadpool}}.
** From ''WesternAnimation/WolverineAndTheXMen'' in addition to Wolverine himself and the Hulk: Nolan North reprises his roles as ComicBook/{{Cyclops}} and Pyro, Creator/KariWahlgren reprises her role as ComicBook/EmmaFrost, Creator/YuriLowenthal reprises his role as ComicBook/{{Iceman}}, Fred Tatasciore reprises his role as Beast, Creator/PhilLaMarr reprises his role as Gambit, and Creator/StephenStanton reprises his role as the Blob.
** From ''WesternAnimation/TheAvengersEarthsMightiestHeroes'' in addition to the Hulk and Wolverine, Creator/DeeBradleyBaker reprises his role as [[Franchise/FantasticFour Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic]], Steven Blum reprises his role as ComicBook/RedSkull, and Creator/JBBlanc reprises his role as Heimdall (who was white in the show and black here).
** From''WesternAnimation/TheSuperHeroSquadShow'' in addition to Wolverine: Dave Boat reprises his role as the Thing and Creator/TaraStrong reprises her role as H.E.R.B.I.E.
*** From ''VideoGame/SuperHeroSquadOnline'' in addition to Wolverine and the Thing: Tara Strong reprises her role as the [[ComicBook/{{Wasp}} Wasp]].
** From ''VideoGame/MarvelUltimateAlliance'' series in addition to Wolverine and the Hulk: James Horan reprises his role as [[ComicBook/DoctorStrange Doctor Strange]].
** From ''Spider-Man: Battle for New York'': James Arnold Taylor reprises his role as [[Franchise/{{Spider-Man}} Spider-Man]].
** From ''VideoGame/MarvelAvengers:BattleForEarth'' in addition to Spider-Man, Wolverine and Hulk: Creator/RogerCraigSmith reprises his role as the [[Franchise/FantasticFour Human Torch]] and Creator/LauraBailey reprises her role as ComicBook/JeanGrey.
** From the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse: Creator/ClarkGregg reprises his role as Phil Coulson.
** From ''Anime/IronMan'': Creator/AdrianPasdar reprises his role as the titular [[ComicBook/IronMan Tony Stark]].
** From ''WesternAnimation/AvengersAssemble'' in addition to Iron Man and the Hulk: Roger Craig Smith as ComicBook/CaptainAmerica, Creator/TravisWillingham as [[ComicBook/TheMightyThor Thor]], Creator/TroyBaker as ComicBook/{{Hawkeye}} and Loki, and LauraBailey as ComicBook/BlackWidow.
* ''VideoGame/XMenNextDimension'', ''VideoGame/X2WolverineWolverinesRevenge'', and the ''VideoGame/XMenLegends'' series have Creator/PatrickStewart as Professor X, the character he portrayed in the ''Film/XMen'' live-action movies.
* ''VideoGame/DeusExHumanRevolution'': [[spoiler:Cliff Stephens]] reprises his role as [[spoiler:Bob Page]], 10 years after the release of the original ''VideoGame/DeusEx''.
* ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'' used the Disney voice actors in several languages.
** Of special note, while characters from older Disney films had their current official voice actors, Kathryn Beaumont, who voiced Alice in ''Disney/AliceInWonderland'' and Wendy in ''PeterPan'', returned to voice both characters in the original game.
* Not only is Peter Cullen back in the ''Transformers'' film series as Optimus Prime, but he also voiced Optimus Prime in ''VideoGame/TransformersWarForCybertron''
** ''VideoGame/TransformersFallOfCybertron'' featured Creator/GreggBerger reprising his role of Grimlock.
** Previously, in the movie-related games both Cullen and Frank Welker reprised their parts as Optimus and Megatron.
** The Italian dub of ''War For Cybertron'' haves Marco Balzarotti, Renato Novara and Stefano Albertini as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Ratchet, reprising their roles from ''WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated''.
** ''VideoGame/TransformersDevastation'', as part of being a return to ''Franchise/TransformersGeneration1'' sees this is spades, as not only (as with other projects) does it see the return of Creator/PeterCullen as Optimus Prime, Creator/FrankWelker as Megatron and Soundwave, and Creator/GreggBerger as Grimlock, it also sees Berger return as Long Haul, Dan Gilvezan as Bumblebee, and Creator/MichaelBell as Sideswipe, Scrapper, and Bombshell.
* Michael Gough would return in ''VideoGame/{{Diablo}} 2'' and ''VideoGame/DiabloIII'', reprising his role of Deckard Cain in both games. Creator/LaniMinella would reprise her role as Adria the Witch in the latter game.
* ''VideoGame/{{StarCraft II}}'' brought back Jim Raynor from the original ''VideoGame/{{StarCraft|I}}''. Best of all, Creator/RobertClotworthy returns to voice Raynor James Harper also returns as Mengsk, though all other named characters are replaced.
* While Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog was known for its [[TheOtherDarrin Other Darrin]] status (First from the original voice cast to the 4Kids cast to the current cast), only one voice actor from the 4Kids realm returned to join the new cast, and that was Creator/MikePollock as Dr Eggman.
** Sonic's guest star status in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosBrawl'' featured Creator/JasonGriffith (under the name Adam Caroleson) voicing the Hedgehog. Additionally, the voice actors for the Franchise/MetalGear series also reprised their roles in the game.
** However, Creator/JonStJohn and Creator/LaniMinella both reprised Big the Cat and Omochao respectively for a game each during the 4Kids run.
** In the French dub of ''VideoGame/SonicGenerations'', all of the voice actors from ''Anime/SonicX'' reprised their respective roles, [[Main/TheOtherDarrin with the exception of Vector]]. They've since continued to voice these characters in the subsequent games.
* Sega and Sumo Digital went above and beyond with ''[[VideoGame/SegaSuperstars Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing]]'' and its sequel to have the voice actors for charactersfrom dormant Sega franchises reprise their roles: Corey Marshall as Ryo Hazuki from ''VideoGame/{{Shenmue}}'', Apollo Smile as Ulala and Creator/SumaleeMontano as Pudding from ''VideoGame/SpaceChannel5'', Kent Frick as BD Joe from ''VideoGame/CrazyTaxi'', and Christopher Sullivan as Vyse from ''VideoGame/SkiesOfArcadia''. The last example is all the more notable in that they already had the VA for Vyse as he appeared in ''VideoGame/ValkyriaChronicles'', Creator/RogerCraigSmith (also the voice of Sonic), on hand.
* ''VideoGame/ProjectXZone 2'': Creator/HiroshiFujioka reprises his role as Advertising/SegataSanshiro for the first time in almost two decades after the character [[HeroicSacrifice sacrificed himself]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ3v668VNZo to save Sega]].
* ''VideoGame/GuiltyGear Xrd'' retained three of the voice actors from ''Guilty Gear 2: Overture'', but changed [[Creator/YuriLowenthal two of]] [[Creator/LiamOBrien those actors']] roles[[note]]Yuri Lowenthal voiced Sin Kiske in ''Overture'', but voiced Bedman in ''Xrd''; and Liam O'Brien played Sin's father Ky in ''Overture'', but voices Axl Low in ''Xrd''[[/note]]. The one who kept their original role was [[spoiler:Creator/MichaelMcconnohie as Dr. Paradigm, who only appears in the game's Story mode]].
* The original dub voice cast for ''VideoGame/{{Persona 4}}'' reprised their roles in ''VideoGame/Persona4Arena'', along with the voice actors for the characters returning from ''VideoGame/{{Persona 3}}'', except for the voices for Chie and Teddie, who were [[TheOtherDarrin darrin'd]] by ErinFitzgerald and Creator/SamRiegel, respectively. While both [=VAs=] reprise their roles in ''Persona 4 Ultimax'', the [=VAs=] for Kanji and Naoto were darrin'd by Creator/MatthewMercer (who is actually reprising the role from the latter half of [[Anime/Persona4TheAnimation the anime adaption of the original game]]) and Valerie Arem, respectively.
** The role of Rise Kujikawa was [[TheOtherDarrin Darrin'd]] to [[WebVideo/HeyAshWhatchaPlayin Ashly Burch]] in ''VideoGame/Persona4DancingAllNight''. At this point, among the original playable protagonists of ''VideoGame/{{Persona 4}}'', only three have returned to reprise their roles throughout the entire series: the protagonist (Creator/JohnnyYongBosch), Yosuke Hanamura (Creator/YuriLowenthal), and Yukiko Amagi (Creator/AmandaWinnLee).
* Here's an interesting approach for ''VideoGame/DragonBallZBudokaiTenkaichi 3''. The Japanese dub of the game features the return of Creator/MamiKoyama as [[Manga/DoctorSlump Arale Norimaki]].
* ''VideoGame/DoubleOhSevenFromRussiaWithLove'' featured, for the first time since ''Film/NeverSayNeverAgain'', the return of Creator/SeanConnery as James Bond.
* ''VideoGame/ClayFighter 63 1/3'' brought in many well-known voice actors like Creator/JimCummings, Creator/RobPaulsen, Creator/CharlieAdler and Creator/FrankWelker. Ironically, there was one reprisal, and that's by Creator/DanCastellaneta as ''WesternAnimation/EarthwormJim'' from the animated cartoon series.
* Not a vocal example, but Creator/KaneHodder, the suit actor for [[Franchise/FridayThe13th Jason Voorhees]] from ''Film/FridayThe13thPartVIITheNewBlood'' to ''Film/JasonX'', returns to ''VideoGame/FridayThe13thTheGame'' to provide motion capture for the slasher movie icon.
* ''VideoGame/GhostbustersTheVideoGame'' brought back all 4 Ghosbusters: Dan Aykroyd (Ray), Harold Ramis (Egon), Bill Murray (Peter), and Ernie Hudson (Winston) from the original 2 movies to voice their respective characters. Others like Creator/MaxVonSydow, William Atherton, Brian Doyle-Murray, and Annie Potts also returned to voice their respective characters from the movies. Sadly, Rick Moranis declined, which wrote his character out of the game.
** The Italian dub haves Egon, Ray and Winston's original voice actors reprising their roles (And with Winston we really mean ''the original'', since he was [[TheOtherDarrin replaced]] at first in the dub of ''WesternAnimation/TheRealGhostbusters'' and the cartoon voice actor was also kept in the second film). Venkman's original voice actor [[AuthorExistenceFailure died a year before]], so it was replaced with Bill Murray's other usual voice actor.
** In the French dub, Richard Darbois, Jean-Pierre Leroux, and Med Hondo reprised their roles as Ray, Egon, and Winston respectively from the live-action movies[[note]]Leroux also voiced Egon in both ''WesternAnimation/TheRealGhostbusters'' and ''WesternAnimation/ExtremeGhostbusters''[[/note]].
* No matter the language (namely English and Japanese), Creator/SquareEnix '''''strives''''' to stay consistent with voice reprisals. If actors or actresses aren't reprising their roles, chances are that it's strictly one of the circumstances listed in this page's description.
** One notable example of this is Steve Burton, the English voice actor of Cloud Strife from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII''. Ever since he first voiced Cloud in the original ''VideoGame/KingdomHearts'' back in 2002, Steve continues to reprise the role each time Square Enix makes a video game (and a movie) with Cloud ''and'' voice acting, except for the ''Last Order'' {{OVA}}, which only had Japanese voice acting. The reason why this is so notable, is largely because Steve Burton isn't a voice actor and his outings as Cloud Strife are his ''only'' voice acting credits.
** Released in 2001, ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'' is the first ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'' game to have voice acting. Since then, several characters from that game made appearances in other games and their respective voice actors reprise their roles. The latest example would be the appearance of Tidus, Jecht, and Yuna in ''Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy'', where they're voiced by Creator/JamesArnoldTaylor, Creator/GreggBerger, and Hedy Burress, respectively.
** Creator/YumiKakazu is the only seiyuu for a ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII'' character to appear in the 1998 game ''VideoGame/{{Ehrgeiz}}'' that reprised her role (as Yuffie, by the way) in all future titles to date. Everyone else (such as Creator/NozomuSasaki as Cloud and Creator/ShinichiroMiki as Sephiroth) was [[TheOtherDarrin darrin'd]].
** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyTactics: War of the Lions'' for the [[UsefulNotes/PlayStationPortable PSP]] features Balthier from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXII'' as a OptionalPartyMember. He appears in a single cutscene that doesn't last for more than 2 minutes. That didn't stop the casting direction from hiring Creator/GideonEmery to once again voice Balthier since ''XII''.
** The biggest case of role reprisal comes in the form of ''VideoGame/WorldOfFinalFantasy''. Every voice actor who has voiced a character in a past voiced ''Final Fantasy'' or any other Square Enix title reprises their respective roles... [[TheOtherDarrin except for]] [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyIX Vivi]], who was voiced by Melissa Disney in ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsII''. Melissa was replaced by Creator/KathSoucie in ''World of Final Fantasy''.
** For a non-''Final Fantasy'' example, five characters from ''VideoGame/TheWorldEndsWithYou'' make an appearance in ''VideoGame/KingdomHearts3DDreamDropDistance''. Four of them are voiced by their original voice actors (Jesse David Corti as Neku, Heather Hogan as Shiki, Aaron Spann as Joshua, and Crawford Wilson as Beat). Only Creator/KateHiggins as Rhyme didn't return, as Rhyme [[TheOtherDarrin is now voiced]] by Ashley Rose Orr. This is largely because the original game had VoiceGrunting, with a few key instances of full voice acting. Rhyme, however, was limited to simply instances of VoiceGrunting, so, in both English and Japanese, she shared her VA with another cast member. Because she was finally going to have fully voiced dialogue in the ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'' game, they decided to re-cast her, wanting to find a voice specifically for her.
** Speaking of ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'', Creator/HaleyJoelOsment has reprised his role as Sora ever since the first game, even though he was still fairly young when he first voiced Sora and his voice has gotten considerably deeper in the years since.
* ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'' series has this with Ganondorf. Takashi Nagasako, the voice of Ganondorf in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Ocarina of Time]]'' would reprise his role of the King of Evil in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker The Wind Waker]]''. He did not play Ganondorf at all in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess Twilight Princess]]''.
* ''VideoGame/MaxPayne 3'' was released nearly a decade after the previous game, but James [=McCaffrey=] still returned to voice the title character.
* A particularly interesting example comes from ''VideoGame/PlayStationAllStarsBattleRoyale''. VideoGame/PaRappaTheRapper's voice actor Dred Foxx hadn't been active in any acting roles since the last ''[=PaRappa=]'' game in 2001 over a decade earlier, yet the developers made a point of seeking him (and his co-stars for a few lines) out.
* ''[=DuckTales=] Remastered'', an HD remake of the NES ''VideoGame/DuckTales'' game features almost all of the voice talent from the original ''WesternAnimation/DuckTales'' cartoon, including the 94 year old Creator/AlanYoung and the 95 year old Creator/JuneForay.
** The exception being the voice actors that had passed away since the original show: Hal Smith (Gyro & Flintheart Glomgold), Hamilton Camp (Fenton/Gizmoduck), and Joan Gerber (Mrs. Beakley).
* While most of the characters in the ''WesternAnimation/WackyRaces'' video game for the UsefulNotes/SegaDreamcast were voiced by soundalikes, three of them were voiced by the original actors: Janet Waldo as Penelope Pitstop, and John Stephenson as Luke and his co-pilot Blubber Bear.
* Almost every single ''Franchise/ResidentEvil'' character has had his/her voice actor changed for various reasons throughout the series, although there is consistency for some characters lately (Creator/RogerCraigSmith as Chris Redfield comes to mind). However, Creator/AlysonCourt has always been the voice of Claire Redfield since the 1998 release of ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil2''. Although it seems this will be coming to an end with the release of Resident Evil Revelations 2.
** There's also Ingrid Hunnigan, a character that debuted in ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil4''. She has been voiced by Salli Saffioti since said game.
* The Creator/TelltaleGames ''VideoGame/BackToTheFuture'' games have Creator/ChristopherLloyd reprise his role from the films as Doc Brown.
** [[spoiler:While Creator/MichaelJFox doesn't voice "regular" Marty, mostly because he's far too old, he does appear in the last episode as both Marty's [[IdenticalGrandson great-grandfather]] (the one he saw as a baby in ''Film/BackToTheFuturePartIII'') and as three different future timeline Martys. However, this has been averted in ''VideoGame/LegoDimensions'' - he has been confirmed to be returning as Marty alongside Lloyd as Doc.]]
* While the 3DS Remake of ''VideoGame/StarFox64'' features new voice actors, they brought back Mike West for the voice of Fox and James [=McCloud=], along with Lyssa Browne for the voice of Slippy Toad and Katt Monroe.
* A couple of ''Franchise/{{Star Wars|ExpandedUniverse}}'' games have done this. The two most notable examples are ''[[VideoGame/RogueSquadron Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader]]'', which saw the return of Denis Lawson returning to his role as Wedge Antilles, and ''[[VideoGame/DarkForcesSaga Jedi Outcast]]'' with Billy Dee Williams reprising his role as Lando Calrissian.
* ''VideoGame/StarTrekOnline'' has featured a number of reappearances by InkSuitActor versions of TV-canon characters, voiced by the original actors. So far we've gotten Denise Crosby returning to play Empress Sela [[spoiler:and Natasha Yar]], Chase Masterson playing Leeta, Creator/MichaelDorn playing Worf, and Tim Russ playing Tuvok.
** Creator/LeonardNimoy voices Mr. Spock in an early Starfleet mission and the Delta Rising expansion brings Jeri Ryan, Robert Picardo, Garrett Wang and Ethan Phillips all from their ''Series/StarTrekVoyager'' roles. They even brought back Lisa [=LoCicero=] as Tom and B'Ellana's adult daughter Miral Paris, who had appeared exactly once in the series finale.
** "Agents of Yesterday" features Creator/WalterKoenig returning as Pavel Chekov and Joseph Gatt as 0718.
* ''VideoGame/SDGundamGGeneration Wars'' has almost every Gundam Voice Actor reprising a role for an original character, from the somewhat obscure to a well known Gundam character.
* ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Melee'' has Marth be voiced by Creator/HikaruMidorikawa, who originally voiced the character in a two episode Original Video Animation adaptation of ''Franchise/FireEmblem''.
** Creator/JunFukuyama provided the voice of Roy in ''Melee'', and returned to the role for his return in the fourth iteration of the series.
** Creator/SeanSchemmel, the VA of Lucario in ''Anime/PokemonLucarioAndTheMysteryOfMew'', did not voice the character in ''Brawl'' but does so in the 4th game.
** Creator/DavidVincent, Creator/LauraBailey, and Creator/MatthewMercer all reprise their respective roles as Robin (male versions), Lucina, and Chrom from ''VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening'' in the Wii U and 3DS titles. Creator/MichelleRuff didn't return for the female Robin, so they asked Creator/LaurenLanda [[TheOtherDarrin to take over]].
** Creator/AntonyDelRio reprises his roles as Pit and Dark Pit from ''VideoGame/KidIcarusUprising''. Creator/AliHillis doesn't voice Palutena, however. She is [[TheOtherDarrin darrin'd]] by Brandy Kopp.
*** Creator/HyndenWalch reprises her role as Viridi in the 3DS version's Reset Bomb Forest stage and the Wii U version's Palutena's Temple stage.
** Creator/AdamHowden returns to voice Shulk from ''VideoGame/{{Xenoblade}}'' in the Wii U and 3DS titles. Special mention goes to this one for Nintendo of America's dubbing team going through the trouble of getting a hold of a British voice actor.
** In the Italian dub of the Wii U/3DS titles, Giovanni Noto and Lara Parmiani reprise their roles as the Wii Fit Trainers from the original game, while Renato Novara and Riccardo Lombardo reprise their roles as Sonic and Shadow from ''VideoGame/SonicGenerations'' (amusingly, since Lombardo was replaced as Shadow since ''Mario and Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games''). Also, Luigi Fantino reprises his roles as Lucario and the announcer from ''Brawl''.
** In the French dub, Sonic and Shadow are once again voiced by Alexandre Gillet and Benoît [=DuPac=] respectively, reprising their roles from both ''Anime/SonicX'' and all the Sonic games that have been made since ''VideoGame/SonicGenerations''.
* Barring Ian Holm as Ash, ''VideoGame/AlienIsolation'' sees everyone after Kane's death in the [[Film/{{Alien}} first]] ''Franchise/{{Alien}}'' movie reprise their roles, including Creator/SigourneyWeaver as Ripley.
* ''VideoGame/TheIncredibleHulkUltimateDestruction'' features Creator/NealMcDonough and Michael Donovan reprising their respective roles 1990s ''WesternAnimation/TheIncredibleHulk'' animated series as Bruce Banner and the Grey Hulk.
* ''VideoGame/XMenDestiny'' sees Creator/SteveBlum as (to no one's surprise) Wolverine; Creator/FredTatasciore as TheJuggernaut from ''VideoGame/X2WolverinesRevenge''; and their ''WesternAnimation/WolverineAndTheXMen'' costars Creator/NolanNorth, Creator/PhilLaMarr, and Creator/KariWahlgren also reprise the repsective roles of Cyclops, Gambit, and Emma Frost. Blum also reprises the role of Pyro from ''WesternAnimation/TheSuperHeroSquadShow''. However, despite voicing the character in ''[=WatXM=]'', Creator/YuriLowenthal [[AvertedTrope doesn't]] reprise the role of Iceman, instead voicing Nightcrawler and Northstar, while Creator/JasonMarsden voices Iceman instead.
* Several actors in ''VideoGame/InfiniteCrisis'' have either reprised their roles, incuding...
** From the Franchise/DCAnimatedUniverse: Creator/KevinConroy as Batman, Creator/AdamBaldwin as Green Lantern, Creator/MariaCanalsBarrera as Hawkgirl, Creator/JerryOConnell as Shazam.
** From the ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamSeries'' in addition to Batman himself: Music/GreyDeLisle as Catwoman, Creator/TaraStrong as Harley Quinn, Tasia Valenza as Poison Ivy.
** From ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueDoom'' in addition to Batman: Creator/MichaelRosenbaum as the Flash (as the Flash here is Barry Allen, not Wally West), Bumper Robinson as Cyborg
** From ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueCrisisOnTwoEarths'': Creator/VanessaMarshall as Wonder Woman, Creator/JoshKeaton as Aquaman.
** From ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice'': Creator/AlanTudyk as Green Arrow, Creator/LaceyChabert as Zatanna, Cameron Bowen as Robin, Eric Lopez as Blue Beetle.
** From the ''DC {{VideoGame/LEGO Adaptation Game}}s'': Marc Worden as Sinestro, Ike Amadi as Atrocitus.
** From ''VideoGame/MortalKombatVsDCUniverse'': Creator/RichardEpcar as the Joker.
** From ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueTheFlashpointParadox'': in addition to normal!Batman and Wonder Woman: Creator/SteveBlum as Lex Luthor.
* ''VideoGame/SpiderManShatteredDimensions'' had, in addition to the CastingGag of past Spider-Man voice actors as the Spider-Men...
** Creator/NolanNorth reprises his ''WesternAnimation/HulkVS'' and ''VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom3'' role as Deadpool.
** Creator/JohnDiMaggio reprises his role in ''WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderMan'' as Hammerhead.

** Creator/JenniferHale reprises her ''VideoGame/UltimateSpiderMan'' and ''VideoGame/SpiderManFriendOrFoe'' role as ComicBook/SilverSable.
* ''VideoGame/SpiderManFriendOrFoe'' has...
** Creator/JamesArnoldTaylor reprised his role from ''VideoGame/SpiderManBattleForNewYork'' as Spidey himself...
** Creator/JoshKeaton reprised his his role from the first two ''VideoGame/SpiderManTrilogy'' games as Harry Osborn, albeit in the [[Film/SpiderMan3 New Goblin]] identity.
** Creator/JenniferHale reprised her ''VideoGame/UltimateSpiderMan'' and ''Battle for New York'' role as ComicBook/SilverSable.
** Creator/JohnDiMaggio reprised his role from the ''Film/SpiderMan2'' [[VideoGame/SpiderMan2 tie-in game]] as the Rhino.
** Creator/KharyPayton reprises his role from the first ''VideoGame/MarvelUltimateAlliance'' as ComicBook/{{Blade}}.
* Almost every Japanese voice actor from ''[[Anime/HokutoNoKen Fist of the North Star]]'' reprises their roles in Arc System Works' fighting game adaptation, ''VideoGame/FistOfTheNorthStarTwinBlueStarsOfJudgment''. The only exceptions are Kenshiro's VA, Creator/AkiraKamiya (who was busy at the time) and Rei's VA, Creator/KanetoShiozawa, as the game was developed a few years after he died.
* In ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsBX'', [[spoiler:Creator/ShozoIizuka, who voiced the ''Anime/{{Mazinkaiser}}'' iteration of the [[Anime/GreatMazinger Great General of Darkness]], now portrays the previously voiceless ''Anime/ShinMazinger'' version]].
* While it is somewhat obvious that all versions of ''VideoGame/DonaldDuckGoinQuackers'' would have Tony Anselmo play Donald again with Tress [=MacNeille=] once again voicing Daisy and Russi Taylor again playing Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, the game also notably has June Foray reprise her role as Magica De Spell and the Beagle Boy boss is played by Creator/FrankWelker using his [[WesternAnimation/DuckTales Big Time Beagle]] voice.
* Quite a lot of the [[VideoGame/LegoAdaptationGame LEGO video games]] have had this, especially after they started using actual voice acting instead of SpeakingSimlish.
** In ''LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars'', several actors from the ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars'' animated series return to reprise their roles. To give but a few examples:
*** Creator/DeeBradleyBaker as Captain Rex, Commander Cody, and the Clone Troopers.
*** David Acord as EV-A4-D.
*** Creator/CoreyBurton as Count Dooku, Cad Bane, and Ziro the Hutt.
*** Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano.

*** Creator/TroyBaker reprises his role from the ''Batman: Arkham'' series as Two-Face.
*** Creator/ClancyBrown reprises his role from the Franchise/DCAnimatedUniverse as Lex Luthor.
*** Charlie Schlatter reprises his role as The Flash, though it is left ambiguous whether he's intended to be the Wally West or Barry Allen version, therefore making it unclear whether he's reprising his role as the Wally West version from ''WesternAnimation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries'' or as the Barry Allen version from ''WesternAnimation/TheBatman''.
** In ''LEGO Marvel Superheroes'':
*** As usual with contemporary Marvel media, Creator/FredTatasciore reprises his role as the Hulk and Wolverine is again played by Steve Blum.

** From ''WesternAnimation/TheSuperHeroSquadShow'', in addition to Wolverine: Creator/CharlieAdler as the Super-Skrull (albeit, sounding more like [[WesternAnimation/GIJoeResolute Cobra]] [[WesternAnimation/GIJoeRenegades Commander]]).
** From the ''Film/IronMan2'' tie-in game: Creator/EricLoomis as Iron Man.
** From ''WesternAnimation/TheAvengersEarthsMightiestHeroes'' in addition to Iron Man, Hulk, and Wolverine (and had he not been redubbed, Spider-Man): Creator/BrianBloom as Captain America, Creator/RickDWasserman as Thor, Creator/ChrisCox as Hawkeye, and Creator/WallyWingert as M.O.D.O.K. This went both ways, as Creator/LorenLester and Creator/GregEllis reprised their respective roles from this game as Iron Fist and Rocket Raccoon in ''EMH''.
** From ''VideoGame/StreetFighterIV'': Creator/KyleHebert as Ryu, Creator/LauraBailey as Chun-Li, Dave Mallow as Akuma, and Creator/MichelleRuff as Crimson Viper.
** From ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil'': Creator/RogerCraigSmith as Chris Redfield and Creator/DCDouglas as Albert Wesker.
** From ''Franchise/DevilMayCry 3'' and ''4'': Creator/ReubenLangdon as Dante, Danielle Burgio as Trish, and Creator/DanSouthworth as Vergil.
** From the ''VideoGame/DeadRising'' series: T. J. Rotolo as Frank West.
** Also, most Capcom characters' Japanese voice actors (those that had any Japanese voice prior to this game, that is) reprise their role here.
* ''VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcomInfinite'' continues the trend with the returns of Creator/FredTatasciore as the Hulk, Creator/BrianBloom as Captain America, Creator/EricLoomis as Iron Man, Creator/ChrisCox as Hawkeye, Creator/KyleHebert as Ryu, Creator/RogerCraigSmith as Chris Redfield, and T.J. Rotolo as Frank West, as well as T.J. Storm as Strider Hiryu, Creator/DanWoren as Arthur, Creator/JohnnyYongBosch as Zero, Creator/DameonClarke as Nathan Spencer, and Siobhan Flynn as Morrigan from ''3''. Additionally...
** From ''WesternAnimation/TheSuperHeroSquadShow'': Music/GreyDeLisle as Carol Danvers (albeit as Captain Marvel, like in ''WesternAnimation/AvengersAssemble'' and its tie-in special ''Marvel Super Hero Adventures: Frost Fight!'' as opposed to Ms. Marvel in ''SHSS'').
** From ''WesternAnimation/TheAvengersEarthsMightiestHeroes'', in addition to Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, and Hawkeye: Creator/JamesCMathisIII as the Black Panther.
** The WesternAnimation/MarvelUniverse shows in addition to the Hulk, Captain Marvel, and Black Panther: Creator/TravisWillingham as Thor, Creator/TrevorDevall as Rocket Raccoon, Creator/VanessaMarshall as Gamora, Creator/LiamOBrien as Dcotor Strange, Isaac C. Singleton, Jr. as Thanos, and Creator/JimMeskimen as Ultron.
** From ''WesternAnimation/MarvelsSpiderMan'': Creator/RobbieDaymond as Spidey himself.

* ''VideoGame/TheNightmareBeforeChristmasOogiesRevenge'' has a lot of the characters from ''WesternAnimation/TheNightmareBeforeChristmas'' recast, but several actors actually got to reprise their roles from the original film.

** Paul Reubens returns as the voice of Lock.
* The 2000 ''VideoGame/SpiderMan'' game features some reprises across both ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManTheAnimatedSeries'' and ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManUnlimited'': Creator/RinoRomano from the latter as Spidey himself, the late Creator/EfremZimbalistJr from the former as ComicBook/DoctorOctopus, and Creator/JenniferHale from both as respectively ComicBook/BlackCat and Mary Jane Watson. Its sequel, ''VideoGame/SpiderMan2EnterElectro'', would only see Romano return (Zimbalist being absent completely and Hale voicing ComicBook/{{Rogue}} instead).
* ''VideoGame/X2WolverinesRevenge'' would see Creator/JenniferHale reprise her role from ''VideoGame/SpiderMan2EnterElectro'' as Rogue.
* ''VideoGame/StreetFighterXTekken'' has Creator/JinYamanoi reprise his role as the Japanese voice of Rolento over ten years after the character's last appearance in ''VideoGame/CapcomVsSNK2MarkOfTheMillennium''. It's also worth noting that he's voiced the character in the games ever since his first speaking role in ''VideoGame/StreetFighterAlpha 2'', and returned once again in ''Ultra VideoGame/StreetFighterIV'', having perhaps the longest voice tenure in the entire ''Franchise/StreetFighter'' series.
* In 2007, Creator/ShinobuMatsumoto had his first popular voice role in the doujin game ''VideoGame/AkatsukiBlitzkampf'': TheHero Akatsuki [[note]](plus the BigBad Murakumo and TheBrute Wei)[[/note]]. Some years later, he took up Akatsuki again in the ''VideoGame/UnderNightInBirth'' games.
* ''VideoGame/BatmanTheTelltaleSeries'' features Creator/TroyBaker and Creator/LauraBailey reprising their respective roles from the ''VideoGame/LEGOBatman'' games as the Dark Knight himself and Catwoman. Creator/DaveFennoy also reprises his role from ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamKnight'' as Lucius Fox.

[[folder:Films -- Live-Action]]
* ''Film/{{Tron}}'':
** Creator/JeffBridges reprising the role of Kevin Flynn in ''Film/TronLegacy'' after more than 25 years.
** He's got nothing on his co-star. Boxleitner started reprising his characters for that universe as early as 2003's ''VideoGame/TronTwoPointOh'' (as Alan Bradley), and kept coming back (in ''VideoGame/TronEvolution'', ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsII'', ''Film/TronLegacy'' and ''WesternAnimation/TronUprising'').
* ''Franchise/StarTrek'':
** A major coup for the movies was getting all of the original series actors to play by their characters. Various bit characters played by bit actors also appeared in the movies as well, such as Yeoman Rand and Lieutenant Kyle.
** ''Film/StarTrekIITheWrathOfKhan'' has Ricardo Montalban reprise his role as the one-off villain Khan from the original series episode "Space Seed," filmed 15 years earlier.
** Creator/LeonardNimoy reprising Spock in the 2009 ''Film/StarTrek'' film, after not having played the character since 1991's ''Film/StarTrekVITheUndiscoveredCountry''. This is somewhat ironic, as he almost didn't show up in the original movies due to not being interested in playing Spock anymore. He ended up playing his character longer than anyone else.
** The other returning role was Majel Barrett (who had previously returned as Christine Chapel -- promoted from Nurse to Doctor -- in the movies), as the ship computer voice - she had died the year prior, but most of her recordings were already done.
* Creator/PeterCullen, the original voice of Optimus Prime, reprised his role in the live-action ''Film/{{Transformers}}'' films, to ''much'' rejoicing.
** While Frank Welker was replaced as Megatron in the films, Welker performed the role in the related material such as the video games. He eventually retakes the role properly as Galvatron, BackFromTheDead as Megatron, in ''Film/TransformersAgeOfExtinction''.
* When ''Film/CharliesAngels'' was revived as a film two decades after the [[Series/CharliesAngels series]] ended, the same actor, John Forsythe, returned to play Charlie. Additionally, Jaclyn Smith returned as original Angel, Kelly Garrett, for a brief scene in the [[Film/CharliesAngelsFullThrottle second film]], 22 years after the fact.
* Quite a few ''Franchise/StarWars'' actors from the original movies showed up again for the prequels. Probably the most impressive example is Ian [=McDiarmid=]; having played the Emperor under heavy aging makeup in his mid-30s, he ended up being just about the right age to play the younger version with no makeup at all by the time the prequels rolled around.
** Anthony Daniels also returned as C-3PO and Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca in Episode III (he was also a direct consultant on his animated version seen in ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars''). As a respect to the actor who portrayed the shakes and movements of R2-D2, Kenny Baker, they credited him in the prequels although by that time R2 was largely motorized or CG.
** While something of an [[TheNotSecret open secret]] long before it was announced, most of the major actors from the original trilogy whose characters hadn't been killed off (Creator/MarkHamill, Creator/CarrieFisher, Creator/HarrisonFord, Peter Mayhew) returned for ''Film/TheForceAwakens''. The major exception is Billy Dee Williams, though it's been stated that there are plans to have him possibly return in ''Film/TheLastJedi''.
** In the Italian dub of the extra scenes added in the various Special Editions, Darth Vader is the only one who kept the original voice actor.
** Femi Taylor shot some new scenes as Oola, the Twi'lek dancer Jabba fed to a rancor, for the Special Edition of ''Film/ReturnOfTheJedi''.
** ''Film/RogueOne'' featured the returns of Jimmy Smits as Bail Organa and Genevieve [=O'Reilly=] as Mon Mothma, making them the first two actors from the prequels to appear in the Disney-era films.[[note]]Creator/EwanMcGregor had a voice cameo as the Force ghost of Obi-Wan in ''The Force Awakens'', but did not appear in-person.[[/note]] Angus [=MacInnes=], who played Gold Leader in ''A New Hope'', recorded new dialogue for his character, which combined with unused footage from that film allowed his character to return for ''Rogue One's'' space battle. Creator/JamesEarlJones also returned as the voice of Darth Vader.
* [[SequelGap Despite the length of time from the first to the fourth]], Creator/BruceWillis played John [=McClane=] of the New York Police Department in all the ''Film/DieHard'' movies.
* Creator/HarrisonFord plays the title character of ''Franchise/IndianaJones'' in the first three movies (1981, 1984 and 1989), and then reprised the role in the [[Film/IndianaJonesAndTheKingdomOfTheCrystalSkull fourth movie]] from 2008. Karen Allen also reprised the role of Marion Ravenwood from [[Film/RaidersOfTheLostArk the first movie]].
* Creator/JeffreyCombs as Herbert West in ''Film/BeyondReAnimator''. Explaining in an interview that West had been in prison for 13 years, the interviewer asked Combs if he'd be wearing aging make up. The answer was no, [[CharacterAgedWithTheActor he was actually 13 years older]].
* The ''Franchise/{{Halloween}}'' films:
** Creator/JamieLeeCurtis returned to reprise her role of Laurie Strode in ''Film/HalloweenH20TwentyYearsLater'', 17 years after she last played the role in the two original films. She briefly returned again a few years later in ''Film/HalloweenResurrection'' (which she admits was only done to fulfill contract requirements).
** Creator/DonaldPleasence reprised his role of Dr. Loomis for four sequels over the course of 18 years before [[TheCharacterDiedWithHim he passed away and the character was killed off]].
** Nancy Stephens also returned to play Nurse Marion Chambers in ''H20'' after previously playing the role in the original two films.
* After Creator/GeorgeLazenby's only role as Film/JamesBond in ''Film/OnHerMajestysSecretService'', Creator/SeanConnery came back as James Bond for ''Film/DiamondsAreForever'' before Creator/RogerMoore took over in ''Film/LiveAndLetDie''. In 1983, Creator/SeanConnery came back as Bond in the unofficial James Bond film ''Film/NeverSayNeverAgain''.
** Speaking of ''Live and Let Die'', that movie's Felix Leiter, David Hedison, returned 16 years later in ''Film/LicenceToKill'' as a ContinuityNod (even if in [[Film/TheLivingDaylights the previous movie]] it was another actor).
** When the series rebooted with ''[[Film/CasinoRoyale2006 Casino Royale]]'', replacing Pierce Brosnan's Bond and dropping Samantha Bond's Moneypenny and John Cleese's Q (both roles would be recast in ''{{Film/Skyfall}}''), Judi Dench stayed on as M.
* Nine years after the end of Creator/PeterJackson's ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings'' trilogy, Creator/IanMcKellen, Creator/HugoWeaving, and Andy Serkis prominently reprise their roles as Gandalf, Elrond, and Gollum, respectively, in Jackson's ''Film/TheHobbit'' trilogy. The films also insert Ian Holm as the elderly Bilbo Baggins as a ContinuityCameo (the younger Bilbo is played by MartinFreeman), and sneak in Creator/ElijahWood (Frodo), Creator/CateBlanchett (Galadriel), Creator/ChristopherLee (Saruman), and Creator/OrlandoBloom (Legolas) for a few {{Early Bird Cameo}}s.
* When ''Film/LostInSpace'' got a movie in 1998, they hired an all new cast to portray the roles of the Robinson Family, Major Don West, and Dr Zachary Smith. Dick Tufeld, however, would reprise his role of Robot for the movie.
* Creator/PaulNewman played "Fast Eddie" Felson in ''Film/TheHustler'' and then 25 years later, reprised the role in ''Film/TheColorOfMoney''.
* Though only for one song, only for a theatre skit, and in a lab coat instead of a corset, Creator/TimCurry reprised his role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter from ''Film/TheRockyHorrorPictureShow''. The song was "Sweet Transvestite", no less, and [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome everyone loved it]].
* In the Latin-American Spanish dub of the first [[Film/TheFlintstones live-action Flintstones movie]], Arturo Mercado reprised his role as "Pedro Picapiedra" (Fred Flintstone; played here [on screen] by John Goodman).
* In the Italian dub of [[Film/TheSmurfs the two Smurfs movies]], Fabrizio Mazzotta, Marco Guadagno, Rossella Izzo and Paolo Buglioni reprise their roles as Clumsy Smurf, Brainy Smurf, Smurfette and Gargamel from the original cartoon.
** In the European French dub, Gérard Hernandez reprised his role as Papa Smurf from the original cartoon[[note]]although he didn’t reprise his role as Gruouchy Smurf as well[[/note]], being one of the few major voice actors who worked on that dub to be either still alive or not yet retired. However, Céline Monsarrat (the original French voice of Smurfette and the only other voice actor from that cartoon to still be active) [[AvertedTrope didn’t reprise the role]], instead being replaced by [[CelebrityVoiceActor famous Quebecer singer Béatrice Martin AKA Coeur de pirate]][[note]]who would later be replaced by Marie-Eugénie Maréchal (another professional voice actress) for the sequel[[/note]].
* Quite common for Brazilian dubs of a LiveActionAdaptation: most of the cast of ''WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles1987'' and ''Westernanimation/XMen'' (even if the Wolverine [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i0kIcFPzhk fits the cartoon]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPWO_Wz_ChY but not Hugh Jackman]]), both Megatron and Starscream in ''Film/{{Transformers}}''... and in an animated-to-motion capture example, the {{Tintin}} from the TV cartoon was retained for [[WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfTintin the feature film]].
* Romy Schneider played Elizabeth of Austria in a trio of films beginning with 1955's ''Sissi'' and the reprised her role for a cameo in 1972's ''Ludwig'' playing her later on in life.
* Creator/CaryHiroyukiTagawa portrayed Shang Tsung in the 1995 ''Film/MortalKombat'' movie. He reprises his role as the evil sorcerer in the web series ''WebVideo/MortalKombatLegacy''.
* Momoko Kochi played Emiko Yamane in the 1954 ''Film/{{Gojira}}''. She returned as Emiko in 1995's ''Film/GodzillaVsDestoroyah''.
* ''Film/{{Deadpool|2016}}'': Creator/RyanReynolds reprises the role of Wade Wilson/Deadpool five years after ''Film/XMenOriginsWolverine'' despite being another continuity and the fact that his first portrayal of the character was [[InNameOnly very different from his comic book conterpart]].
* ''Theatre/ShowBoat'': The 1936 movie version reunited numerous principal and even secondary actors from the two Ziegfeld productions, including Helen Morgan as Julie in what turned out to be her last movie appearance.
* Creator/JimmyDurante starred in the Hippodrome musical ''Billy Rose's Jumbo'', and reprised his role in the movie version released 27 later.
* Liz Smith, who played Mrs. Dilber in ''Film/AChristmasCarol1984'', reprised the role in the 1999 Creator/PatrickStewart film.
* Alex Vincent, who played Andy Barclay in the first two ''Film/ChildsPlay'' films, reprises the role in TheStinger of ''Film/CurseOfChucky'', twenty-three years later, and will return again in the upcoming ''Cult of Chucky'', this time playing a main role.
* In the French dub of the Franchise/DCExtendedUniverse movies, Superman is voiced by Adrien Antoine, reprising his role from ''Film/SupermanReturns''.

[[folder:Anime]]
* The fans rejoiced when it was revealed that pretty much the entire voice cast from the Anime/TenchiMuyo series would reprise their roles for the new OVA in 2005, especially since very few of them were even ACTIVE in the industry since the original show ended. Unfortunately, this miracle was ruined when it was also revealed that Ryoko would be exception to this...
* The Japanese version of ''Anime/SonicX'' brought back most of the Japanese voice actors from the games including Creator/JunichiKanemaru as Sonic, Creator/NobutoshiCanna and Knuckles, Creator/TaekoKawata as Amy and Creator/ChikaoOhtsuka as Eggman.
* ''Anime/DragonballKai'' got together most every possible voice actor who worked on the original series to voice the same character in the ReCut, both Japanese and English versions. Creator/MasakoNozawa and Creator/SeanSchemmel voice Goku and Creator/ChristopherSabat voices Vegeta. It provided a marked example of VocalEvolution.
** Of special note, in the Japanese version Masaharu Satou was the very first voice actor to voice Master Roshi after the original voice actor Kouhei Miyauchi passed away, voicing him for his brief scene in the 13th film. Since then Hiroshi Masuoka mainly did his voice (with Kinya Aikawa handling the 4th Dragon Ball movie), but beginning with Kai Satou returned in the role and has been doing Master Roshi's voice in all media since.
** ''Anime/DragonBallZBattleOfGods'' did this as well, bring back not only the surviving cast members from Kai but also the cast members from the Buu saga who had yet to return[[note]]The first run of Kai only went up to the Cell saga, though amusingly the Buu saga would be handled shortly after Battle of Gods was completed.[[/note]]. The most noteworthy return for the Japanese version was Creator/YukoMinaguchi, who again voiced Videl for the film but was absent from Kai due to her studying abroad. On the English dub's side, Meredith [=McCoy=] and Brad Jackson respectively returned to voice Android 18 and Oolong, both of whom had been absent from the original Kai dub. Meanwhile, the Latino Spanish dub brought back all the dub [=VAs=] from ''Z'', much to the immense joy of fans there (who had previously complained about the casting changes present in ''Kai'').
*** In Italy, the ''Dragon Ball'' movies initially got a dub with a cast of voice actors different from the one from the series which also was adapted more faithfully to the original, but some years later they were all redubbed with the regular voice cast and [[{{Woolseyism}} adaptation]] [[{{Bowdlerise}} choi]][[DubNameChange ces]]. The Italian dub of ''Battle of Gods'', surprisingly enough, featured the cast of the more faithful dub of the movies. The motivation for this choice is because they wanted a faithful dub of the movie, so they just got the faithful dub cast. Fans (and Vegeta's regular voice actor) were not pleased. The same cast came back again for ''Resurrection of F'', of course.
** The Brazilian dub of the live-action ''Film/DragonBallEvolution'' movie uses the same voice actors from the anime. The dub of ''Dragon Ball Kai'', however, doesn't use most of them because many of the actors refused to work at the BKS studio.
** It's been confirmed that the Italian dub of ''Anime/DragonBallSuper'' will have most of the cast from the original series back (the only actually confirmed are Vegeta, Bulma, Piccolo and King Kai, but it's obvious that everyone else will do the same). Only huge exceptions are obviously Goku and Frieza, since both Paolo Torrisi and Gianfranco Gamba are dead. Claudio Moneta (who had already been Zarbon and Cooler) will be the new voice of Goku.
* The voices for Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, Luna, Artemis, Ikuko, and Sammy reprised their roles for the third and fourth seasons of Cloverway's American dub of ''Anime/SailorMoon'' (done ''years'' after the first two). Unfortunately, they were pretty much the only ones.
** The 2014 remake ''Anime/SailorMoonCrystal'' sees the return of Creator/KotonoMitsuishi, the original Japanese voice actress of Usagi/Sailor Moon. Notably, she's the only one of the original senshi actresses to return, the Inners are given new voices. The English dub will also feature the return of the cast of Creator/VizMedia's redub of the original anime (Creator/StephanieSheh as Usagi, Creator/RobbieDaymond as Mamoru, Creator/CindyRobinson as Queen Beryl, etc.)
* Inverted in the Japanese version of ''[[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood]]'', where most of the roles were recast despite only a few years passing after the first anime finished. The English dub, by contrast, uses almost the exact ''same'' cast as [[Anime/FullmetalAlchemist the 2003 adaptation]]; the only major exceptions were Al, Scar, Hohenheim, and (partway into the series) Greed.
** The Italian dub of ''Brotherhood'' kept one third of the cast from the original dub. A particular case is Hughes's wife, which initially haves a different voice actress in the ''Brotherhood'' dub until episode 58, where the voice actress from the original series takes her role back.
* Creator/SpikeSpencer was brought in to reprise his role as Shinji Ikari in the ''Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion'' movies, even though he's now a West Coast VA and Creator/FUNimation is located in Texas. Creator/TiffanyGrant still voices Asuka in the second film, though she had already been doing some work for [=FUNimation=] since Creator/ADVFilms closed down. Likewise, there's Creator/AllisonKeith, who returned to voice Misato in the English dubs, despite having since entered into a teaching career. Creator/JohnSwasey playing Gendo in the ''Rebuild'' films is also a smaller case of role reprisal: while he was not Gendo's first English voice actor (that was Tristan [=MacAvery=]), he had previously voiced Gendo [[TheOtherMarty in the dub of the Evangelion Director's Cut.]] However, the entire Japanese VA team returned for ''Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion''.
* ''Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross'' features a bizarre variation. For the role of Lynn Minmay in the English dub of the show, ADV cast Mari Iijima--''who had voiced the character in the Japanese version more than 20 years prior.''
* The entire English cast for ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'' reprised their roles for the trilogy of movies about 10 years after dubbing the TV series (including the very minor roles). Unfortunately, the Japanese cast wasn't so lucky.
* While the English dub of ''LightNovel/{{Durarara}} recast Isaac and Miria from ''LightNovel/{{Baccano}}'s original English voice actors, the Japanese version saw the return of Creator/MasayaOnosaka and Creator/SayakaAoki, who voiced Isaac and Miria in the series.
* ''[[Manga/{{Trigun}} Trigun: Badlands Rumble]]'' saw the entire cast from the TV series reprise their roles in the Japanese version. In the English dub's case, only Creator/JohnnyYongBosch returned as Vash.
* The entire English voice cast reprised their roles for ''[[Manga/InuYasha InuYasha: The Final Act]]'' about seven years after the original series came to an end. Kagome, Sesshomaru, and Kaede were the only notable exceptions, with Kira Tozer replacing Moneca Stori as Kagome, Creator/MichaelDaingerfield replacing Creator/DavidKaye as Sesshomaru, Linda Darlow replacing Pam Hyatt as Kaede. Danny [=McKinnon=] was also replaced by Aidan Drummond as Kohaku, but then again, Kohaku had already gotten TheOtherDarrin treatment once before as [=McKinnon=] replaced Alex Doduk.
* When Creator/{{Funimation}} acquired the English rights to the first ''Manga/YuYuHakusho'' movie after Creator/MediaBlasters' (who had originally dubbed the film in the late 90s) license expired, they proceeded to redub it with the TV series cast, six years after the TV series dub had ended.
* An interesting example: Creator/RichardCansino voiced the title role in ''Manga/RurouniKenshin'' for the original Creator/{{Sony}} dub (titled ''Samurai X'') and reprised the role for the Creator/BangZoomEntertainment dub years later.
** Likewise, J Shannon Weaver, who voiced Kenshin in the movies and [=OVAs=] will be returning for the new OVA.
* Giovanni's voice actor, Creator/TedLewis, was replaced in ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'' with the rest of the cast, but returned to voice the role after his replacement left the show.
** In addition, Roger Parsons returned to narrate the show at the beginning of ''Battle Frontier'' after being away for several seasons where Creator/MikePollock was the narrator instead.
* Creator/TesshoGenda and Creator/SeizoKato, the Japanese voice actors for Optimus Prime and Megatron in ''WesternAnimation/TheTransformers'', reprised their respective roles in the Transformers parody episode of ''Anime/PantyAndStockingWithGarterBelt''.
* The voice actors for the lead ''LightNovel/{{Slayers}}'' characters (Lina, Gourry, Amelia, and Zelgadis) returned to reprise their roles in both Japanese and English for Slayers Revolution and Slayers Evolution-R.
* It was recently revealed that the ''Manga/BlackLagoon'' cast will be reprising their roles for the "Roberta's Blood Trail" OVA.
* The voice cast from the ''VideoGame/Persona4'' video game reprised their roles in the [[Anime/Persona4TheAnimation anime TV series]]. The only notable exceptions are Chie (originally Tracey Rooney, [[TheOtherDarrin Darrin'd]] by Creator/ErinFitzgerald, Teddie (originally Creator/DaveWittenberg, Darrin'd by Creator/SamRiegel), Naoto (unknown original VA darrin'd by Creator/MaryElizabethMcGlynn), and for the second half, Kanji (originally Creator/TroyBaker, darrin'd by Creator/MatthewMercer).
* The entire voice cast of the original ''Anime/{{Hellsing}}'' anime returned to reprise their roles for the 10 ''[[Manga/{{Hellsing}} Hellsing Ultimate]]'' [=OVAs=].
* The entire cast from the ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' anime returned to reprise their roles in the Unlimited Blade movie... except Saber in the English dub.
** The English dub of the ''LightNovel/FateZero'' anime has a bizarre subversion in that two major characters that appear in both the ''Zero'' and the ''Stay Night'' anime have their voice actors[[note]]Creator/GrantGeorge, who played Gilgamesh, and Creator/JamiesonPrice, who played Kotomine[[/note]] reappear... but both voice ''completely different characters''[[note]]In ''Zero'', George plays Lancer and Price plays Rider[[/note]]. Rin, however, remains voiced by Creator/MelaLee.
* The cast for ''Anime/RevolutionaryGirlUtena'' reprised their roles for the last 26 episodes and movie several years after the original episodes were released.
* Funimation's English dub of ''Anime/LupinIIITheWomanCalledFujikoMine'' features multiple cross-dub role reprisals: Not only is Creator/MichelleRuff reprising her role as Fujiko from Geneon's dub of the TV series and first movie, but Creator/SonnyStrait, Creator/ChristopherSabat, and Creator/MikeMcFarland are respectively reprising their roles from Funimation's movie and TV special dubs. Creator/RichardEpcar is voicing Zenigata this time around, amusingly making this the third character in the series he's voiced (previously he was Goemon in ''Anime/TheCastleOfCagliostro'' and Jigen in Geneon's dub).
** The English Dub of ''WesternAnimation/LupinIIITheItalianAdventure'' will be reuniting all of the television series' dub cast except for Zenigata, with Creator/TonyOliver returning as Lupin, Epcar as Jigen, Ruff as Fujiko, and Creator/LexLang as Goemon.
* ''Anime/EurekaSevenAO'' has Creator/KaoriNazuka and Creator/StephanieSheh reprise their role from [[Anime/EurekaSeven the original series]] as Eureka. The dub also sees Creator/JohnnyYongBosch back as Renton, too.
* ''Manga/GunslingerGirl Teatrino'' uses the same English voices as ''Gunslinger Girl''.
* ''Anime/GeGeGeNoKitaro'''s Medama Oyaji has been voiced by Isamu Tanonaka in all five incarnations of the series, he even voices Medama Oyaji in the 2008 series ''Anime/HakabaKitaro'', Following Tanonaka's death in 2010, Nurarihyon's regular voice actor Takeshi Aono took the role of Medama Oyaji for the TV Special Kitarō: The Happy Journey. However, with Aono having also passed away in 2012, it is unknown who will be taking over the role.
* The Italian dub of ''Anime/DigimonXrosWars'' has Alessio Cigliano reprising his role as Greymon from the original series.
** In the final episodes of the series, during the massive teamup, almost everyone keeps his original voice actor. The only exceptions were [[Anime/DigimonAdventure Gomamon, Tentomon,]] [[Anime/DigimonAdventure02 Ken and Veemon]] (first three got [[TheOtherDarrin new voices]], the latter's only line was given to Davis taking advantage to the fact that no moving lips were shown in that scene). [[Anime/DigimonFrontier Takuya]] got a new voice too, but only because his [[CrossDressingVoices voice actress]] was already voicing Davis. Alessio Cigliano is also back as Tai's Agumon, but with a completely different voice because he can't do the high-pitched screechy voice he did in the original series anymore (he sounds more like [[Anime/FreshPrettyCure Tart]] now).
** ''Anime/DigimonAdventureTri'' kept the Digimon voices in the Japanese version. In the English dub, the voices of Tai, Sora, Izzy, Mimi, Agumon, Gabumon, Birdramon, Tentomon, Palmon, Togemon, Gomamon, Patamon, and Angemon returned to their roles. TK's ''02'' actor Creator/DougErholtz also returned, but as the voice of Daigo.
*** The German dub takes the cake, as they managed to bring every voice actor of the main cast back, except Izzy's who has been on a world tour since 2015. The dubbing studio even brought Tai's voice actor, Florian Knorn, who left the business in 2005, from Sweden and paid for his flight. The main reason for that was due to pressure from the fans.
* For the dub of ''Anime/HyperdimensionNeptuniaTheAnimation'', Creator/{{FUNimation}} managed to hire most of the L.A. based voice talents from the games, including Creator/MelissaFahn, Creator/ErinFitzgerald, Creator/TaraPlatt, and Creator/WendeeLee as the [=CPUs=], and Creator/ChristineMarieCabanos as Nepgear.
* In the dub of ''Anime/BlazBlueAlterMemory'', Creator/{{FUNimation}} actually managed to hire nearly all of the original dub voice actors from the games to reprise their roles in the English dub, which is being recorded at Creator/{{FUNimation}} itself. Some of the voice actors include Patrick Seitz (the voice of Ragna) (who is frequently a regular at Creator/{{Funimation}}, despite being L.A. based), Creator/DavidVincent (who voiced Jin Kisaragi). Creator/CristinaValenzuela (the voice of Noel Vermillion), and Creator/MelaLee (who voiced Rachel Alucard). The only exception is Platinum the Trinity, in which Creator/AlexisTipton replaced Creator/LauraBailey, a former Creator/{{FUNimation}} employee.
* ''Manga/BirdyTheMighty: Decode'' features Mako Hyōdō reprising her role from the OVA series as [[BigBad Christella Revi]].
* The Italian dub of ''[[Anime/KotetsuJeeg Kotetsushin Jeeg]]'' features Emanuela Rossi and Diego Reggente reprising their roles as Miwa and Mimashi from the original series, ''37 years later''.
* The English dub of the anime adaptation of ''VisualNovel/DanganRonpa'' only managed to bring back Creator/BrycePapenbrook as [[TheHero Makoto Naegi]]. ''Anime/DanganRonpa3'' did a lot better; all of the voices from the first anime return, as do 10 of the 17 newcomers from ''VisualNovel/SuperDanganRonpa2''. Only the Ultimate Imposter, Fuyuhiko, Gundam, Peko, Ibuki, Akane, and Monomi got [[TheOtherDarrin Darrined]]. When the characters of ''VideoGame/AbsoluteDespairGirls'' show up, Monaca and Nagisa return while Komaru has been Darrined.
* While the Japanese dub recast every character, the English dub of ''[[Manga/DGrayMan D.Gray-man Hallow]]'' was announced to be bringing back almost all of Funimation's original cast, including Creator/ToddHaberkorn as Allen Walker and Creator/LuciChristian as Lenalee Lee.
* Mari Shimizu, who voiced ''Anime/AstroBoy'' in the 1963 series, reprised her role in the 1980 revival. Hisashi Katsuta also reprised his role as Ochanomizu in the 1980 show.
* The English dub of ''VideoGame/TalesOfZestiria the X'' brings back the voices for all of the party members from the original ''Zestiria'' game. In the case of Mikleo, Michael Johnston is credited under the name "Philip Lamont."
* ''Anime/YuGiOhTheDarkSideOfDimensions'' brings back all of the cast from the anime series ''[[Anime/YuGiOh Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters]]''. The English dub brings back all of the cast as well, [[TheOtherDarrin with the exception of Yugi's grandpa now being voiced by]] Creator/WayneGrayson (due to the fact that the character's original voice actor, Creator/MaddieBlaustein, [[AuthorExistenceFailure passed away in 2008]]).
** The Italian dub got back only three voice actors: Massimo Di Benedetto as Yugi, Lorenzo Scattorin as Kaiba and Simone D'Andrea as Joey.
* Between the two {{Animated Adaptation}}s of the ''VideoGame/{{Darkstalkers}}'' games (the [[WesternAnimation/{{Darkstalkers}} 1995 american cartoon]] and the 1997 ''Anime/NightWarriorsDarkstalkersRevenge'' OVA, both of which used Canadian voice talent), the entire voice cast was subject to TheOtherDarrin... with the exception of Creator/ScottMcNeil, who would voice Lord Raptor in ''both'' adaptations.
* ''Franchise/GhostInTheShell'' is split up into numerous alternate continuities, but there are two actors in particular who pride themselves on this trope for sticking with the franchise since the very beginning: Creator/RichardEpcar and William Knight have voiced Batou and Aramaki respectively since the original Mamoru Oshii film was dubbed back in the late 90s. Richard and William would return for their characters in the Playstation video game, ''Anime/GhostInTheShellStandAloneComplex'', the PS2 and PSP games based off ''SAC'', and even ''[[VideoGame/GhostInTheShellFirstAssaultOnline Ghost In the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: First Assault Online]]''. It was due to ExecutiveMeddling that the ''SAC'' [=OVAs=] were dubbed in Canada, and when ''Anime/GhostInTheShellArise'' was licensed by Creator/{{Funimation}}, they decided to follow Japan's precedent of casting new actors. This didn't stop Creator/MaryElizabethMcGlynn from flying out to Texas to audition for the role of Motoko, whom she has been voicing for everything related to ''Stand Alone Complex''. For her efforts, she voices Kurutsu in that dub, a character that falls more into her type casting of headstrong sexy female leader characters than the "younger"-looking Motoko Kusanagi herself.

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheAvengersEarthsMightiestHeroes'' has quite a few. While Creator/FredTatasciore as the Hulk and Creator/SteveBlum as Wolverine were no brainers, there are others...
** Creator/EricLoomis reprises his role from the ''Film/IronMan2'' tie-in game as Iron Man himself.
** Creator/GabrielMann reprises his ''WesternAnimation/WolverineAndTheXMen'' role as Bruce Banner. Likewise, Creator/AlexDesert reprises his role from that show as Nick Fury.
** Creator/DavidKaufman reprises his role from the ''VideoGame/UltimateSpiderMan'' video game as the Human Torch.
** In addition to voicing the Hulk, Fred Tatasciore also reprises his role from the bonus levels of the tie-in game to ''Film/FantasticFour'' as the Thing.
** Creator/TomKane reprises his ''WesternAnimation/NextAvengers'' role as Ultron and his ''WesternAnimation/HulkVs'' (and ''Wolverine and the X-Men'') role as Professor Thronton.
** In addition to Kane as Thronton, Creator/GrahamMcTavish and Creator/KariWahlgren reprise their respective role from ''WesternAnimation/HulkVs'' as Loki and Enchantress.
** In addition to Tatasciore as the Thing and Kaufman as the Human Torch, Creator/WallyWingert reprises his role in ''VideoGame/MarvelUltimateAlliance 2'' as Hank Pym.
** Music/GreyDeLisle reprsies her role from ''WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderMan'' as Betty Brant. Infamously, so did her costars Creator/JoshKeaton and Creator/DaranNorris reprise their respective roles from the same series as Spidey himself and J. Jonah Jameson before being redubbed by two more: respectively, Creator/DrakeBell (who vocies Spidey in ''WesternAnimation/UltimateSpiderMan'') and Creator/JKSimmons (who played Jonah in the ''Film/SpiderManTrilogy'' and reprised the role in ''Ultimate'').
** While a good chunk of the cast reprised their roles in ''VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom3'', this also went the other way with Creator/LorenLester and Creator/GregEllis reprising their respective roles as Iron Fist and Rocket Raccoon.
* While it was obvious that Peter Cullen would once again voice Optimus Prime in ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime'', the biggest surprise was that they also got Frank Welker back as Megatron. This time, he did change the "iconic" G1 Megs voice, trading the "wheezy old man" voice for something sounding more rough and tough. [[spoiler: "Minus One", much like ''Revenge of the Fallen'' and ''Dark of the Moon'', also saw Welker reprise the role of Soundwave, who otherwise was TheVoiceless.]]
** WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated brought an interesting perspective. While Creator/CoreyBurton became the voice of Megatron, he would also reprise his role as Spike Witwicky (though in brief background cameos) and Shockwave. Another of his characters appeared (Brawn), though he went voiceless.
*** Also joining him was Susan Blu as Arcee, John Moschitta as Blurr and Judd Nelson for Rodimus Prime.
** Every TF series brings back someone from series past to play characters they've played before, even when not connected by continuity. The Unicron Trilogy has the WesternAnimation/BeastWars Optimus and Megs return.
** In the Italian dub of ''The Ultimate Battle'' (a [=DVD=] recap of the Unicron Trilogy included with a 2-pack of Classics Optimus Prime Vs Megatron toys), Marco Balzarotti voices Optimus Prime. Since then, he took the role of Optimus Prime in ''every'' Transformers cartoon and videogame, but not in the live action movies... albeit he managed to be TheOtherDarrin for the live action voice actor in toy commercials and in [[TheProblemWithLicensedGames the videogame adaptations of the first two movies]].
** In the Italian dub of ''Prime'', Gianluca Iacono reprises his role as Starscream from ''VideoGame/TransformersWarForCybertron'', while Tony Fuochi reprises the role of Megatron he had back in ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars''.
** In the Italian dub of ''WesternAnimation/TransformersRobotsInDisguise'', Gabriele Calindri reprises his role as Jazz from ''WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated''.
** In the Brazilian dub, José Santa Cruz and José Santanna voiced Megatron and Starscream, respectively, in G1, ''Anime/TransformersArmada'' and Michael Bay's live-action films. Guilherme Briggs voiced Optimus Prime in ''Anime/TransformersRobotsInDisguise'', ''WesternAnimation/TransformersArmada'' and Bay's films, as well as his descendant Optimus Primal in ''WesternAnimation/BeastMachines''.
* In ''WesternAnimation/VoltronTheThirdDimension'' three actors reprise their roles from ''[[Anime/{{Voltron}} Voltron: Defender of the Universe]].'' Neil Ross reprises his role as Keith, Micheal Bell is once again Lance and B.J. Ward is Princess Allura.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLooneyTunesShow'' brought back Jeff Bergmann from ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures'' and early 90s Looney Tunes Shorts for Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester, Tweety and Foghorn Leghorn. Jim Cummings is back as Taz, Bob Bergen is back as Porky and June Foray is back as Granny. She no longer voices Witch Hazel (now Witch Lezah), but this is most likely due to the character being completely revamped (it's unlikely Foray would be able to sound anything like Roz Ryan).
* ''WesternAnimation/StarTrekTheAnimatedSeries'' brought back the entire original cast from ''Series/StarTrekTheOriginalSeries'', with the exception of Walter Koenig (interesting, his character doesn't show up at all.). In addition, two new characters were added: Lt. Arex (voiced by James Doohan who played Scotty) and M'Ress (voiced by Majel Barrett Roddenberry, who voiced Nurse Chapel).
** To add to this, Walter Koenig wrote one episode for the series: The Infinite Vulcan
** The characters of Sarek, Cyrano Jones, and Harry Mudd return for the animated series with their roles reprised by Mark Lenard, Stanley Adams and Roger C. Carmel respectively.
* ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'':
** Tom Everret Scott, Creator/BillyWest, and Creator/JenniferHale reprise their respective Franchise/DCAnimatedUniverse roles as ComicBook/BoosterGold, Skeets, and ComicBook/{{Zatanna}}. Richard Moll also reprised his DCAU role of Two-Face for the episode "Chill of the Night," but only for that episode - [[TheOtherDarrin all other times]] he was voiced by Creator/JamesRemar instead.
** "Bold Beginnings!" featured a pre-episode short called "Space Safari", which was a crossover between Batman and ''WesternAnimation/SpaceGhost''. To sweeten the deal, Creator/GaryOwens, the original voice of Space Ghost, returns to reprise his role.
** A very...''unique'' example took place in "The Super Batman of Planet X!" Batman visits an alternate dimension that greatly resembles [[Franchise/{{Superman}} Metropolis]], with a super-powered Batman voiced by [[WesternAnimation/BatmanTheAnimatedSeries Kevin Conroy]], and [[CaptainErsatz differently named]] versions of Lois Lane and Lex Luthor, respectively voiced by [[WesternAnimation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries Dana Delany and Clancy Brown.]]
** The third segment of the episode "Batmite Presents: Batman's Strangest Cases" has a crossover with Scooby Doo, with Frank Welker, Mindy Cohn, Grey DeLisle, and Matthew Lillard returning to the roles of Fred and Scooby, Velma, Daphne , and Shaggy.
* While Ryan Drummond provided the voice of Sonic in VideoGame/SonicAdventure in 1998, Creator/JaleelWhite would reprise his role of Sonic in ''WesternAnimation/SonicUnderground''. Furthermore, he also provided the voice of Sonic's two siblings: Sonia and Manic.
* ''WesternAnimation/SonicBoom'' featured the voice actors from the [[SonicTheHedgehog games]] since 2010 reprising their roles: Creator/RogerCraigSmith as Sonic, Creator/TravisWillingham as Knuckles, Creator/CindyRobinson as Amy, and Creator/MikePollock as Dr. Eggman (this counts as Pollock's second reprisal, since he was among the [=4Kids=] voice actors and was the only one to retain his role after the voice actors were changed). Creator/KateHiggins did not reprise Tails however, being replaced by Creator/ColleenVillard, a change that will seemingly be consistent with the games series.
** In the Italian dub, Oreste and Antonella Baldini reprise their roles as Knuckles and Amy from the dub of ''Anime/SonicX''.
* ''WesternAnimation/CaptainNTheGameMaster'' brought back Link and Zelda from ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfZelda'' in a couple of episodes with Jonathan Potts reprising his role of Link and Cyndy Preston reprising her role of Zelda. Furthermore, Ganon also made one appearance in the series, all with LenCarlson reprising his role of the evil wizard.
* While ''WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfSuperMarioBros3'' had an all new voice cast for Mario (Walker Boone), Luigi (Tony Rosato) and Princess Toadstool (Tracey Moore), Toad and Bowser kept their voice actors from ''Series/TheSuperMarioBrosSuperShow'' (Harvey Atkins for Bowser and John Stocker for Toad)
** Interestingly, Wrestling/CaptainLouAlbano voiced Mario in the never before aired pilot.
* Larry Kenney and Lynne Lipton reprised their roles as [[WesternAnimation/ThunderCats Lion-O and Cheetara]] for a ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'' CutawayGag.
** In the Italian dub of ''Family Guy'', almost every cutaway gag haves the original voice actors reprising their roles. Sandro Acerbo and Dario Penne as [[Franchise/BackToTheFuture Marty McFly and Doc Brown?]] Check. Carlo Valli as Creator/RobinWilliams? Check. Leonardo Graziano as [[Series/TheBigBangTheory Sheldon Cooper?]] Check.
* Because of a short amount of time for casting, Creator/GeorgeNewbern, Creator/DanaDelany, and Creator/ClancyBrown reprise their Franchise/DCAnimatedUniverse roles as Franchise/{{Superman}}, ComicBook/LoisLane, and ComicBook/LexLuthor on ''WesternAnimation/TheBatman''.
* Over half a decade after the original cartoon ended, the cast from ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' reprised their roles for a series of minute-long shorts as a part of Cartoon Network's WesternAnimation/DCNation block, which later expanded into the full ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitansGo'' series. This lappses into other series, as Cyobrg's voice actor, Creator/KharyPayton also reprises his role as [[WesternAnimation/YoungJustice the Kaldur'ahm Aqualad]] and, as mentioned below, Raven's voice actress, Creator/TaraStrong also reprise the role of WesternAnimation/{{Bat|manTheAnimatedSeries}}girl.
** The Italian dub gets back Alessio De Filippis, Ilaria Latini and Monica Bertolotti as Robin, Starfire and Raven. Cyborg and Beast Boy [[TheOtherDarrin were replaced]], sadly (albeit Gabriele Patriarca already voiced Beast Boy in ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice'')
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSuperHeroSquadShow'':
** To no one's surprise, Creator/SteveBlum as ComicBook/{{Wolverine}}.
** Shawn Ashmore, who portrayed Iceman in the original ''Film/XMen'' trilogy and ''Film/XMenDaysOfFuturePast'', returned to voice Iceman.
** Creator/RayStevenson, who played the title character in ''Film/PunisherWarZone'' returned to voice ComicBook/ThePunisher.
** In addition to Mr. Blum, Creator/JimWard and A.J. Buckley reprise their respective role ''WesternAnimation/WolverineAndTheXMen'' as Professor Xavier and Toad.
** Creator/JessHarnell, who voiced Impossible Man in the 90s ''WesternAnimation/FantasticFour'' cartoon, returned to voice the role again.
* ''WesternAnimation/TalesFromTheCryptKeeper'', an animated and kid-friendly spinoff of ''Series/TalesFromTheCrypt'', had John Kassir reprise his role as the Crypt Keeper.
* The 2001 revival of ''WesternAnimation/DextersLaboratory'' saw the return of the entire voice cast. However, Creator/ChristineCavanaugh only reprised the title role for a few episodes before retiring from voice acting and was replaced with Creator/CandiMilo for the remainder of the show.
** Likewise, Allison Moore, the original voice of Dee Dee, got her role back for a few episodes before the role was reverted back to Kathryn Cressida for the final season.
* The revival of ''WesternAnimation/JohnnyBravo'' got all of the original cast (Johnny, his mom, and the neighbor Suzy) voiced by the same people.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderMan'':
** Creator/DeeBradleyBaker originally voiced Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard in the early 2000s VideoGame/SpiderMan [[VideoGame/SpiderMan2EnterElectro games]] for the Playstation. He would reprise the role again in ''Spectacular''.
** Creator/BillFagerbakke also reprises his role from ''Ride/TheAmazingAdventuresOfSpiderMan'' as Morris Bench, though much like the example of Olivia d'Abo as a pre-Star Sapphire Carol Ferris, in ''WesternAnimation/GreenLanternFirstFlight'' and because the show was cut short, it features Bench ''before'' he becomes Hydro-Man.
* ''WesternAnimation/UltimateSpiderMan'':
** Creator/JKSimmons as the voice of J. Jonah Jameson, the character he portrayed in the live-action ''[[Film/SpiderManTrilogy Spider-Man]]'' movies, and Creator/ClarkGregg as Agent Coulson from the [[Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse MCU]].
** While initially voiced by Creator/TomKenny, starting with the episode "The Iron Octopus", Creator/DeeBradleyBaker would again reprise his role as Dr. Connors/The Lizard from the early 2000s VideoGame/SpiderMan [[VideoGame/SpiderMan2EnterElectro games]]. He's also reprise his role from the first game as Carnage.
** Coulson was eventually [[PutOnABus written out of the show]]. To replace him in Season 4, Iain De Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge were brought in from ''Series/AgentsOfSHIELD'' to reprise their roles as Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons.
* Creator/FrankWelker has played Fred Jones from the WesternAnimation/ScoobyDoo series since its inception in 1969. But when ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooOnZombieIsland'' came out in 1998, it was the first time Fred had been featured in the series in close to 15 years, and he was the only one of the surviving original cast to reprise his role (starting with ''WesternAnimation/WhatsNewScoobyDoo'', he would take up the role of Scooby-Doo as well).
** In the direct-to-video movies "Monster of Mexico" and "Legend of The Vampire", Heather North and Nicole Jaffe, the second voice (but first permanent voice) of Daphne and the original voice of Velma respectively, reprised their roles.
** ''What's New'' also saw the return of Casey Kasem as Shaggy, who had been absent from the role for several years.[[note]] The last time Kasem had voiced Shaggy prior to this was a 1997 ''WesternAnimation/JohnnyBravo'' crossover, and the last before that was a 1994 TV movie where the ''Scooby-Doo'' characters barely appeared.[[/note]] Unlike North and Jaffe, his reprisal was permanent, and only came to an end with his retirement in 2009.
** Interestingly, after Casey Kasem retired as Shaggy, he was replaced by TheOtherDarrin Matthew Lillard, who amusingly is reprising his [[Film/ScoobyDoo live-action role of Shaggy]], starting with ''Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated''.
** The Italian dub of every Scooby Doo show and movie (except for the live action prequels) since the first live action one keeps the same voice cast: Francesco Bulckaen as Fred, Domitilla D'Amico as Daphne, Rachele Paolelli as Velma, Oreste Baldini as Shaggy and Nanni Baldini as Scooby.
* In the 1987 ''ComicStrip/{{Garfield}}'' TV special "A Garfield Christmas" Jon's brother Doc Boy was voiced by comedian David L. Lander, more than 20 years later, he reprised his role for ''WesternAnimation/TheGarfieldShow''.
** And of course, Creator/GreggBerger returned to voice Odie.
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls'':
** The 2009 special "The Powerpuff Girls Rule" and the 2014 special "Dance Pantsed" both had every actor from the original show return to reprise their roles.
** While Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup have been recast for the 2016 reboot, Tom Kenny reprises his roles as the Mayor of Townsville and the Narrator, Roger L. Jackson returns to play Mojo Jojo, Jennifer Hale reprises her role as Ms. Keane, Tom Kane returns as both HIM and Professor Utonium, Creator/JeffBennett returns as the voice of Ace of the Gangreen Gang, and Creator/JimCummings reprise his role as Fuzzy Lumpkins.
*** In the Italian dub of the reboot, Monica Ward, Perla Liberatori, Monica Bertolotti and Paolo Buglioni are back as Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup and Mojo Jojo.
* In the Brazilian Portuguese dub of ''WesternAnimation/ThunderCats2011'', Élcio Romar returned to record a few new loops for Snarf (his character from [[WesternAnimation/ThunderCats1985 the classic series]]).
* All of the ''WesternAnimation/{{Recess}}'' voice actors reprised their roles for the 2003 DirectToVideo films, ''WesternAnimation/RecessTakingTheFifthGrade'' and ''Recess: All Growed Down'', with the exceptions of T.J. and Becky, who were voiced by Myles Jeffrey and Creator/TaraStrong replacing Andrew Lawrence (Who had replaced Ross Malinger in 1998) and Melissa Joan Hart.
** When the main characters from ''Recess'' all crossed over into the ''WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitchTheSeries'' episode "Lax" in 2006, Rickey D'Shon Collins, Pamela Adlon, Creator/AshleyJohnson, and April Winchell all reprised their roles of Vince, Spinelli, Gretchen, and Miss Finster, respcetivly. However, since Myles Jeffrey, Jason Davis, and Courtland Mead's voices had completely broke, their roles of T.J., Mikey, and Gus ended up going to Axel Alba, Zack Shada, and Zach Ewing.
* Speaking of ''Disney/LiloAndStitch'' the TV series had cast nearly all the [=VAs=] from the original save Ving Rhames though his character was scarcely used anyway. The only time this was subverted was in the 2nd movie where a young Dakota Fanning subbed for Daveigh Chase as Lilo.
* Everyone apart from Creator/DannyDeVito and Rip Torn (plus Creator/CharltonHeston's narrator) returned for ''Disney/{{Hercules}}: The Animated Series'' - though Tate Donovan, who played adult Herc, voices the teenage one that protagonizes the series instead of Josh Keaton. This was caused by James Woods' return, and to show how he loves Hades, apart from a small scene in ''WesternAnimation/HouseOfMouse'' it's always him when Hades appears (such as in ''Franchise/KingdomHearts''). The crossover with ''WesternAnimation/AladdinTheSeries'' also has Aladdin, Jasmine, Abu[[note]]helped by the fact that Creator/FrankWelker was already part of the cast as Pegasus[[/note]], and Jafar again voiced by the same actors.
* Sid Raymond returned to voice ''WesternAnimation/BabyHuey'' in the 1994 revival, 35 years after his last animated appearance (but only in the first season; for the second, Joe Alaskey took over the role).
* Creator/RobPaulsen, Creator/JessHarnell, and Creator/TressMacNeille reprised their respective roles as Yakko, Wakko, and Dot for promos for Creator/TheHub's airing of ''WesternAnimation/{{Animaniacs}}''.
** In addition to Rob voicing Pinky again, he is once again joined by Creator/MauriceLaMarche as the Brain, again in promos for the Hub's airing.
** Creator/JoeAlaskey reprises his role of Plucky Duck for the Hub's promos for ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures''.
* On ''WesternAnimation/HouseOfMouse'', many of the living voice actors would return to voice their respective Disney characters, including Creator/JerryOrbach as [[Disney/BeautyAndTheBeast Lumiere]].
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheEmperorsNewSchool'', the role of Pacha was passed from John Goodman to FredTatasciore. Starting with the second season, Goodman took up the role once more.
* ''Series/TheAddamsFamily'' had this happen in nearly all animated incarnations:
** John Astin, Carolyn Jones, Ted Cassidy, and Jackie Coogan reprised their roles as Gomez, Morticia, Lurch, and Uncle Fester for the Addams Family's guest appearance on ''WesternAnimation/TheNewScoobyDooMovies''.
** In the 1973 cartoon, most members of the family had been recast, but Jackie Coogan and Ted Cassidy again played Uncle Fester and Lurch.
** The 90's animated series again recast nearly everyone, but had John Astin reprise his role as Gomez Addams once more.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheIncredibleHulk'' featured the voice of Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk. Ferrigno famously portrayed the Hulk in the iconic [[Series/TheIncredibleHulk 70's live-action show]].
* ''Franchise/Ben10''
** "T.G.I.S.", the ''WesternAnimation/Ben10Omniverse'' episode where ''WesternAnimation/TheSecretSaturdays'' guest star, sees Creator/CoreyBurton reprise his role as [[spoiler: the [[BackFromTheDead resurrected]] [[BigBad V.V. Argost]]]] and "Store 23" features a gag where Creator/CharlieAdler reprise his roles as WesternAnimation/CowAndChicken. Sadly, regarding the former, the Saturdays themselves were subject to the TheOtherDarrin with Burton replacing Creator/DiedrichBader as Fiskerton.
** Creator/TaraStrong reprised her role as young Ben in the ''WesternAnimation/Ben10UltimateAlien'' episode "The Forge of Creation" and in flashbacks of ''Omniverse'' and also continues playing Ben in ''WesternAnimation/Ben102016''.
** While many characters have been recast for the reboot (such as Creator/DavidKaye replacing Creator/PaulEiding as Max Tennyson), in addition to Tara Strong playing Ben Tennyson again, the show is also reported to have Creator/DwightSchultz reprise his role as Dr. Animo, Creator/JohnDiMaggio return as Four-Arms and Zombozo, and Creator/DeeBradleyBaker back as the voice of Wildmutt.
** The Italian dub of the reboot has Gabriele Patriarca play the titular character, reprising the role from ''Film/Ben10RaceAgainstTime''.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheJetsons'' brought back the entire cast 20 years later to produce another season of shows for first run syndication along with the classics. This was going to happen in ''Jetsons: The Movie'' as well, but for two things: First, Creator/DawsButler died shortly before recording began, meaning Elroy had to be recast. Second, ExecutiveMeddling resulted in Janet Waldo being replaced as Judy by pop idol Music/{{Tiffany}}, who was originally just going to do her singing voice – to add insult to injury, Waldo had actually recorded all her lines for the movie; she had no idea she'd been replaced until she saw the movie's premier. It was George O'Hanlon (George Jetson) and Creator/MelBlanc's final voice roles: both died shortly after recording their parts.[[note]] According to voice director Andrea Romano, O'Hanlon quite literally died ''in the booth just as recording wrapped''. Blanc had died a few months earlier. The few pickup lines for George and Spacely were done by Jeff Bergman.[[/note]]
* ''WesternAnimation/SuperBestFriendsForever'', ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitansGo'' (in addition to Raven), and ''WesternAnimation/BewareTheBatman'' all see Creator/TaraStrong reprise her ''[[WesternAnimation/BatmanTheAnimatedSeries The New Batman Adventures]]'' role as Barbara Gordon, [[spoiler: though ''[=BtB=]'' sees Barbara as Oracle, which Tara hadn't voiced before, whereas ''SBFF'' and ''Go'' once again see Barbara as Batgirl.]]
* For the ''[[WesternAnimation/LEGOStarWarsTheYodaChronicles LEGO Star Wars]]'' special "The Empire Strikes Out," Kenneth Colley and Julian Glover reprised their roles as Captain Piett and General Veers, respectively. In addition, Creator/BrianBlessed returned as Boss Nass.
* Over a decade after ''Film/ThePhantomMenace'', Creator/LiamNeeson reprised his role of Qui-Gon Jinn in ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars''.
** The sequel[=/=]SpiritualSuccessor, ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels'', has Creator/JamesEarlJones reprising his role as Darth Vader from the original trilogy. Not only that, but they also got Creator/FrankOz to return as the voice of Yoda, and in possibly the most unexpected reprisal of all, ''Creator/PaulReubens'' to reprise his role as RX-24 "Rex" from the original version of Disney's [[Ride/DisneyThemeParks Star]] [[Ride/StarTours Tours]] Ride. Billy Dee Williams also returns to voice a younger (but still the coolest guy in the galaxy) version of Lando. As a sequel to ''The Clone Wars'', it also sees the return of Creator/JamesArnoldTaylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Creator/PhilLaMarr as Bail Organa, Stephen Stanton as Tarkin, [[spoiler: Creator/AshleyEckstein as Ahsoka Tano]], Creator/JimCummings as Hondo Ohnaka, and Creator/CoreyBurton as Gobi Glie. [[spoiler: Matt Lanter also reprises his role as Anakin Skywalker in the Season Two Climax.]] Creator/ForestWhitaker and Genevieve O'Reilly also reprise their respective roles as Saw Gerrera and Mon Mothma[[note]]The latter of which was already a reprisal from ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith''[[/note]] from ''Film/RogueOne'' in Season 3.
* ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice'' sees Creator/BruceGreenwood reprise his ''WesternAnimation/BatmanUnderTheRedHood'' role as Franchise/{{Batman}}, Creator/JeffBennett reprise his ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'' as [[Franchise/TheFlash Abra Kadabra]], and Gregg Rainwater reprise his ''[[WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague Justice League Unlimited]]'' as [[WesternAnimation/SuperFriends Apache Chief]] {{Expy}} (Tye) Longshadow.
* Nearly a decade after the live action ''Series/{{Batman}}'' series went off the air, Creator/AdamWest and Burt Ward returned as the Dynamic Duo for Creator/{{Filmation}}'s ''WesternAnimation/TheNewAdventuresOfBatman''. West would again reprise his role as the Caped Crusader during the final two seasons of ''WesternAnimation/SuperFriends'', replacing Olan Soule.
* ''WesternAnimation/LegionOfSuperHeroes'' sees Creator/CoreyBurton reprise his ''WesternAnmiation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries'' and ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague'' role as ComicBook/{{Brainiac}}.
* ''Franchise/GIJoe''
** The Creator/DiCEntertainment continuation of ''WesternAnimation/GIJoeARealAmericanHero'' recast most of the characters that returned from the original Sunbow series, but the show did have Chris Latta reprise his role as Cobra Commander, Jerry Houser return to voice Sci-Fi, and Bob Remus return as Sgt. Slaughter. Morgan Lofting and Ed Gilbert also reprised their roles as the Baroness and General Hawk in the first season of the [=DiC=] series before being replaced in season two by Suzanne Errett-Balcome and Creator/DavidKaye respectively.
** ''WesternAnimation/GIJoeRenegades'' sees Creator/CharlieAdler reprise his role as Cobra Commander from ''WesternAnimation/GIJoeResolute''. However, this is the only role he reprised (Gung-Ho didn't appear and Hard Master, Flint, and Stalker [[AdaptationNameChange One]] had different voice actors).
* ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManTheAnimatedSeries'':
** Neil Ross and Linda Gary from the 80s solo ''Spider-Man'' cartoon reprised their respective roles as Norman Osborn and Aunt May (at least until Gary died, regarding the latter).
** It also saw reversal of {{The Other Darrin}}s in other '90s Marvel cartoons as James Avery reprised his role from the first season of ''WesternAnimation/IronMan'' as Comicbook/WarMachine (likely, in part, due to his replacement, Dorian Harewood voicing Tombstone) and Iona Morris reprised her role from the first season of ''WesternAnimation/XMen'' as Storm. That said, Storm is also an example of TheOtherDarrin in the series, as the X-Men's guest appearance earlier in the series had Storm voiced by her voice actress from Season 2 of ''X-Men'' onwards, Alison Sealy-Smith.
* Márcio Simões, who voiced the Joker in the Brazilian dub of ''Film/TheDarkKnight'', returned to voice the Joker in the dub of ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'', he also voiced the Joker in the dubs of ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamOrigins'' and ''[[{{VideoGame/LEGOAdaptationGame}} LEGO Batman 3]]''.
* The 2006 revival of ''WesternAnimation/BikerMiceFromMars'' recast most of the supporting characters, but some of the actors from the original 1993 series returned to reprise their roles.
** Rob Paulsen, Ian Ziering, and Dorian Harewood all return as Throttle, Vinnie, and Modo.
** Peter Strauss reprises his role as Stoker for five episodes before being replaced by Creator/JimWard for the remainder of the series.
** William Morgan Sheppard, Susan Silo, and Luke Perry all return to reprise their respective roles as Lawrence Lactavius Limburger, Dr. Karbunkle, and Napoleon Brie.
* In the Brazilian dubs of SonicTheHedgehog cartoons, everyone from ''Anime/SonicX'' returned for ''WesternAnimation/SonicBoom''. Even Isaac Bardavid (Robotnik/Eggman), who has been voicing that character since WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog.
* ''WesternAnimation/ExtremeGhostbusters'', a SequelSeries to ''WesternAnimation/TheRealGhostbusters'', had Creator/MauriceLaMarche reprise his role as Egon Spengler and also had Dave Coulier, Frank Welker, and Buster Jones reprise their roles as Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Winston Zeddemore in the GrandFinale.
* The Italian dub of every ''Franchise/{{Batman}}'' cartoon since ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheAnimatedSeries'' (excluding the movies) keeps the same voice actors for the main characters: Marco Balzarotti as Batman, Davide Garbolino as Robin (he actually voiced ''both'' Dick Grayson and Tim Drake during ''The New Batman Adventures'', with the former getting a different voice actor once he grew up and became Nightwing), Enrico Bertorelli as Commissioner Gordon, Riccardo Peroni as Joker and Debora Magnaghi as Batgirl. Other characters were [[TheOtherDarrin recast]] between various series, but some voice changes were later kept as the standard voices (Mario Zucca as Mr. Freeze, introduced first in ''TNBA'') and some older voice actors came back in later series (Marina Thovez as Catwoman, replaced in ''WesternAnimation/TheBatman'' but came back in ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'')
* In the ''WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2012'' two-part episode "The Manhattan Project", Cam Clarke, Barry Gordon, Rob Paulsen (who already voices this series' version of Donatello), and Townsend Coleman reprise their respective roles as Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo for [[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles1987 the 1987 Turtles' cameo]].
** Season 4 features another return from the original actors, with a transdimensional warp causing the modern Ninja Turtles to meet their 80's counterparts. This time, they're joined by Creator/PatFraley, who reprises his role as Krang.
*** Same for the Italian dub of the episode, with Luca Semeraro, Diego Sabre, Davide Garbolino, Felice Invernici and Paolo Marchese reprising their roles as Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello and Krang from the 1987 show (and the 2003 too for the four turtles). Since the 2012 series is dubbed in Rome, and the classic series in Milan, this is even more impressive. (Still, Marchese now lives in Rome, while Garbolino sometimes works there).
** The Polish dub instead uses the Turtles' voice actors from the [[Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2014 2014 movie]] except Donatello, because his movie actor is the same as in the cartoon.
* When the main characters were recast for the second season of ''WesternAnimation/JonnyQuestTheRealAdventures'', Rob Paulsen and Granville van Dusen returned to the roles of Hadji and Race Bannon, respectively, having previously voiced the characters in the '80s series and '90s telefilms. However, van Dusen only reprised Race for a few episodes, before Robert Foxworth took the role.
* While as noted elsewhere on this, the ''Franchise/DCAnimatedUniverse'' is the source of many examples of this trope, it also goes the other way around as some actors reprised roles from older works:
** The ''WesternAnimation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries'' episode "Feeding Time" sees Mel Winkler reprise his ''Series/LoisAndClark'' role as William Henderson (albeit there, according to the credits, at the character's then-current rank in the comics as Metropolis's police commissioner).
** In addition to returning as the Joker and voicing Solomon Grundy, the ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague Unlimited'' episode "Flash and Substance" sees Creator/MarkHamill reprise his ''Series/TheFlash1990'' role as the Trickster. The character was even modeled on Hamill and added elements of the Trickster's TV appearances in the design.
** While originally played by Robert Morse in ''Superman: The Animated Series'', Desaad's appearance on ''Justice League'' had Rene Auberjonois reprise his role as the character from ''WesternAnimation/SuperFriends''.
* ''WesternAnimation/GodzillaTheSeries'' sees Malcolm Danare, Kevin Dunn and Michael Lerner reprise their respective roles from ''Film/{{Godzilla 1998}}'' as Dr. Mendel Craven, Major Hicks, and Mayor Ebert.
* Most ''WinnieThePooh'' works have a fairly recurring voice cast:
** Paul Winchell and Hal Smith reprised their roles as Tigger and Owl respectively in ''A Day For Eeyore'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheNewAdventuresOfWinnieThePooh'', almost two decades after ''Disney/TheManyAdventuresOfWinnieThePooh''. Winchell was replaced by Creator/JimCummings halfway into the TV series due to failing health, though returned to voice him in a couple of later projects such as ''Pooh's Grand Adventure''.
** Along with maintaining the role of Tigger after Winchell, Cummings has voiced Pooh in all works since ''New Adventures''.
** John Fiedler was the consistent voice for Piglet in ''Pooh'' cartoons up until his death.
** After being replaced by Bud Luckey for the 2011 ''Disney/WinnieThePooh'' film, Creator/PeterCullen reprised his role of Eeyore in the ''WesternAnimation/DocMcStuffins''/''Pooh'' {{crossover}} "Into the Hundred Acre Wood". Said episode also brought back Jim Cummings as Pooh and Tigger & Travis Oates as Piglet.
* Reconstructed with ''WesternAnimation/GetAHorse'', with Walt Disney, Marcellite Garner and Billy Bletcher all reprising the roles of MickeyMouse, Minnie and Pete ''decades after their deaths'' via StockFootage.
* ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueAction'' features the return of the following:
** From ''Series/TheFlash1990'': Creator/MarkHamill as the Trickster.
** From the Franchise/DCAnimatedUniverse, in addition to the Trickster: Creator/KevinConroy as Franchise/{{Batman}}, Creator/MarkHamill as ComicBook/TheJoker and Creator/GilbertGottfried as Mr. Mxyzptlk.
** From ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'': Creator/KharyPayton as ComicBook/{{Cyborg}}.
** From ''WesternAnimation/GreenLanternTheAnimatedSeries'': Creator/JoshKeaton as Hal Jordan[=/=]Franchise/GreenLantern
** From the ''ComicBook/{{New 52}}'' WesternAnimation/DCUniverseAnimatedOriginalMovies: Creator/SeanAstin as ComicBook/{{Shazam}} and Jake T. Austin as ComicBook/BlueBeetle.
** From the ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamSeries'', in addition to Batman himself and the Joker: Creator/TaraStrong as ComicBook/HarleyQuinn and Creator/FredTatasciore as Solomon Grundy.
** From ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice'': Creator/LaceyChabert as ComicBook/{{Zatanna}}.
** From ''WesternAnimation/TheBatman'': Charlie Schlatter as Franchise/TheFlash (as it's Barry Allen, not [[WesternAnimation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries Wally West]]).
** From [[WesternAnimation/BatmanUnlimitedAnimalInstincts the]] ''{{WesternAnimation/Batman Unlimited|MonsterMayhem}}'' [[WesternAnimation/BatmanUnlimitedMechVsMutants movies]] in addition to the Flash, Cyborg and Grundy: Chris Diamantopoulos as ComicBook/GreenArrow and Dana Snyder as the Penguin.
** From ''VideoGame/InfiniteCrisis'' in addition to Batman: Natalie Lander as Stargirl.
** From ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'': Tara Strong as [[spoiler: [[TimeShiftedActor Child Batman]].]]
** From ''Series/TheFlash2014'', in addition to the Trickster: Creator/DavidSobolov as Gorilla Grodd.
* The ''Film/AttackOfTheKillerTomatoes'' animated series had John Astin reprise his role from the film's sequels as Professor Mortimer Gangreen, though he is referred to as [[AdaptationNameChange Dr. Putrid T. Gangreen]].
* ''WesternAnimation/WolverineAndTheXMen'' not only sees Creator/SteveBlum as Wolverine and Creator/FredTatasciore as the Hulk, but also Blum's ''VideoGame/XMenLegends'' co-star Peter Lurie reprise his role as Sabretooth and Creator/KeoneYoung reprise his ''VideoGame/XMenTheOfficialGame'' role as Silver Samurai.
* The Italian dub of ''WesternAnimation/ALVINNNAndTheChipmunks'' features the voice actors from the live action movies for the Chimpunks and the Chipettes.[[note]]More precisely, it's the cast from ''The Squeakquel'', since the latter two movies replaced respectively Jeannette and Simon[[/note]] The English version retains Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and Janice Karman as their roles from the 80s show as well, with the exception of Eleanor, who is instead voiced by their daughter, Vanessa Chambers.
* Luis Alfonso Mendoza came back as WesternAnimation/CountDuckula in the Mexican Spanish dub of the ''WesternAnimation/DangerMouse'' reboot, after not having voiced that character in over 20 years.
* ''WesternAnimation/AvengersAssemble'':
** Fred Tatasciore and James C. Mathis III reprise their ''Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes'' roles as the Hulk and Comicbook/BlackPanther.
** In the Italian dub, Domitilla D'Amico reprises her role as Black Widow from the Film/MarvelCinematicUniverse.
** In Season 4, Creator/HayleyAtwell reprises her role as Peggy Carter from the movies and ''Series/AgentCarter''.
** Grey DeLisle Griffin once again voices Captain Marvel.
* In the Italian dub of ''WesternAnimation/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy'', Maria Letizia Scifoni, Nino Prester, Christian Iansante and Massimo Corvo reprise their roles as Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon And Groot from [[Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy the live action movie]].
* Creator/{{Nickelodeon}} recently [[http://www.avclub.com/article/exclusive-hey-arnold-movie-gets-name-hefty-slate-r-238121 confirmed]] that the upcoming ''WesternAnimation/HeyArnold'' TV movie will retain a large number of voice actors from the show, among them Francesca Smith (Helga), Creator/DanCastellaneta (Grandpa Phil), and Creator/MauriceLaMarche (Big Bob), with the original voices of Arnold and Gerald, Lane Toran and Jamil Smith [[RemakeCameo returning in different roles]] (In Lane's case, he voiced bully Wolfgang later on in the show, but the article doesn't name his role, so anything's possible).
* The Italian dub of ''WesternAnimation/TheRealGhostbusters'' features Oreste Rizzini, Mario Cordova, Sergio Di Giulio, Gianni Bertoncin and Cristiana Lionello reprising their roles respectively as Peter, Egon, Ray, Winston and Janine from the live action movies (albeit the latter two voiced the characters only in the second movie and not in the first one). Also, in Season 4 Egon's voice actor was replaced with Claudio Capone, who already replaced Mario Cordova as Egon in the dub of the second movie.
** In the French dub, Bernard Murat and Jean-Pierre Leroux reprised their roles as Peter and Egon respectively from the live-action movies. Leroux would later continue to do the voice of Egon in ''WesternAnimation/ExtremeGhostbusters''.
* In ''WesternAnimation/WabbitALooneyTunesProduction'', Creator/DeeBradleyBaker reprises his role as Daffy Duck from ''Film/SpaceJam''.
* For ''WesternAnimation/TheLionGuard'', Creator/JasonMarsden, Andy Dick, and Creator/Lacey Chabert reprise their roles of Kovu, Nuka, and Vitani from ''Film/TheLionKingIISimbasPride'' nearly twenty years earlier.
** While not the original voice, Kevin Schon reprises the role of Timon from ''WesternAnimation/HouseOfMouse'' and ''WesternAnimation/TimonAndPumbaa''. Ernie Sabella returns to voicing Pumbaa.
** While the actual series has him voiced by Gary Anthony Williams, Mufasa in the pilot was once again voiced by James Earl Jones.
* While ''WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfJimmyNeutronBoyGenius'' villains King Goobot and Ooblar were voiced by Creator/PatrickStewart and Martin Short in the PilotMovie ''WesternAnimation/JimmyNeutronBoyGenius'', the series had S. Scott Bullock and Paul Greenberg reprise their roles as the characters from the show's original pilot ''Runaway Rocketboy''.
* Tony Anselmo returns to voice Donald Duck in ''WesternAnimation/DuckTales2017'', normally this wouldn't be anything notable, Anselmo's been the official voice for the past thirty plus years, but this also makes him the only returning cast member from the original ''WesternAnimation/DuckTales''.
* The [[SamuraiJack/TropesSeason5 2017 revival]] of ''WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack'' has many of the actors from the original show return to reprise their roles. Aside from Creator/PhilLaMarr returning to play Jack himself, the revival also has Sab Shimono and Lauren Tom reprise their roles as the samurai's parents and even has Creator/JohnDiMaggio return as the Scotsman. The most notable exception is Aku, who is now voiced by Greg Baldwin because of Creator/{{Mako}}'s passing, though the replacement is itself a reprisal because Greg Baldwin previously voiced Aku in ''VideoGame/FusionFall''.
* The entire voice cast of ''WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife'' returned for the 2018 TV movie "Static Cling", more than 20 years later.
* On ''WesternAnimation/MickeyAndTheRoadsterRacers'' , while Donald is voiced by Daniel Ross instead of Tony Anselmo (due to the latter working on Ducktales, as mentioned above), everyone else returns to their roles, which includes Bret Iwan as Mickey, Bill Farmer as Goofy and Pluto, Russi Taylor as Minnie, Tress MacNeille as Daisy and Chip, Corey Burton as Professor Von Drake and Dale, Jim Cummings as Pete, Carlos Alazraqui and Rob Paulsen as Panchito and Jose, Nika Futterman as Cuckoo Loca, April Winchell as Clarabelle, and Maurice LaMarche as Mortimer Mouse (although he's renamed Morty McCool).
* In 2006, PBS Kids released a ''Literature/CuriousGeorge'' cartoon, with Frank Welker reprising the role of George from the theatrical film that year.
* ''WesternAnimation/SofiaTheFirst'' has various connections to many Disney projects, with many of the actors who currently portray certain characters return to voicing them, including:
** Jennifer Hale as Cinderella
** Barbara Dirickson, Russi Taylor, and Tress MacNeille as Flora, Fauna, and Merriwether
** Linda Larkin and Lea Salonga as Jasmine's speaking and singing voice respectively
** Jodi Benson as Ariel
** Ming Na Wen and Lea Salonga as Mulan's speaking and singing voice
** Mandy Moore as Rapunzel
** Anika Noni Rose as Tiana
** Josh Gad as Olaf
* This happens to a degree in ''WesternAnimation/MarvelsSpider-Man'' . On ''WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderman'' , Steve Blum voiced the Green Goblin. Here, he's voicing his civilian identity, Norman Osborn.

* The ''WesternAnimation/ToyStory'' series managed to have the same actor (John Morris) who played Andy as a kid, adolescent and young adult through all three films, with the third movie being made 11 years after the second movie. The characters grew up in approximate real time, 15 years have passed in real life and Andy aged about 12 years. All of the main characters are also voiced by the same actors, with only one (Slinky) being recast due to Jim Varney's death.
** As with everyone in ''WesternAnimation/Cars2'' except for Fillmore, who is given a new voice actor due to the death of Creator/GeorgeCarlin; Red, who stopped speaking altogether due to the death of Creator/JoeRanft; and [[spoiler:[[TheCharacterDiedWithHim Doc Hudson]]]].
** ''WesternAnimation/MonstersUniversity'' is no exception either. They brought back Billy Crystal for Mike, John Goodman as Sully and Creator/SteveBuscemi as Randall.
** The Italian dub of ''WesternAnimation/FindingDory'' brings back Luca Zingaretti, Carla Signoris and Stefano Masciarelli as Marlin, Dory and Crush.
* Everyone in ''Disney/TheHunchbackOfNotreDame II'' except [[TheOtherDarrin Laverne the gargoyle]], due to the death of actress Mary Wickes, and The Archdeacon, whose one line leaves him relegated to TheOtherDarrin status.
* [[Franchise/StreetFighter M. Bison]] and Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog's voice actors, Gerald C. Rivers and Creator/RogerCraigSmith respectively, reprised their characters for ''Disney/WreckItRalph''. Additionally, we have Creator/KyleHebert and Creator/ReubenLangdon [[VideoGame/StreetFighterIV returning as]] Ryu and Ken.
** [[Disney/RalphBreaksTheInternetWreckItRalph2 The sequel]] will feature the [[Franchise/DisneyPrincess Disney Princesses]] showing up for a cameo, with the majority of them being voiced by their original voice actresses. This includes Jodi Benson as [[Disney/TheLittleMermaid Ariel]], Paige O’Hara as [[Disney/BeautyAndTheBeast Belle]], Linda Larkin as [[Disney/{{Aladdin}} Jasmine]], Irene Bedard as Disney/{{Pocahontas}}, Creator/MingNaWen as Disney/{{Mulan}}, Anika Noni Rose as [[Disney/ThePrincessAndTheFrog Tiana]], Creator/MandyMoore as [[Disney/{{Tangled}} Rapunzel]], Creator/KellyMacdonald as [[WesternAnimation/{{Brave}} Merida]], Creator/KristenBell and Creator/IdinaMenzel as [[Disney/{{Frozen}} Anna and Elsa]] respectively, and Auli'i Cravalho as Disney/{{Moana}}. Notably, O'Hara returning as Belle is quite surprising, given that she officially retired from the role.
*** Its also possible that Cinderella, Aurora, and Snow White's current voices (Jennifer Hale, Kate Higgins, and Katie Von Till respectively ) will also provide the voices, and they just weren't mentioned in the press release since they didn't voice them in a theatrical film.
* The Barbies in the ''WesternAnimation/ToyStory'' films are all voiced by Jodi Benson. There's a good chance this wasn't just some random casting choice -- at the time ''Toy Story 2'' was being made, she was the last person to give Barbie a voice, in ''Dance Workout with Barbie'', an exercise video released way back in 1992.
* After Creator/RobinWilliams made peace with Disney he agreed to appear on the third movie, ''Disney/AladdinAndTheKingOfThieves'', with the producers even discarding Creator/DanCastellaneta ([[PoorMansSubstitute who replaced him before and afterwards]])'s recorded voice track for that.
* Most of the original voice cast of ''Disney/TheLittleMermaid'' returned in ''Disney/TheLittleMermaidIIReturnToTheSea'' (Pat Carroll voiced Ursula in he original film, but plays a character related to her, and [[TheOtherDarrin Flounder has a new voice actor]]).
** A few voice actors reprise their roles in ''Disney/TheLittleMermaidIII'', including Jodi Benson and Samuel L. Wright. Kenneth Mars was unable to return, however.
** The Italian dub of the second movie gets back from the first movie Vittorio De Angelis as Eric, Marco Mete as Scuttle, Vittorio Amandola as Louis and Ronny Grant as Sebastian. Sonia Scotti, who voiced Ursula in the first movie, voices Morgana just like Pat Carroll did in English. In the third movie, Ronny Grant is the only one from the original cast who is still there, but Paola Valentini and Bruno Alessandro voiced Ariel and King Triton both in the second and third movie.
* Creator/DomDeLuise was big on doing this. In every sequel or spinoff series done to whatever movie he voiced in, he was always there to reprise his roles.
* Related to the above, the ''WesternAnimation/AnAmericanTail'' sequels were remarkably consistent in their voice actors, the main exceptions being when Phillip Glasser outgrew the role of Fievel after ''Fievel Goes West'', and Tanya's constant change of voice actors (Cathy Cavadini reprises her for the TV series though).
* ''WesternAnimation/JLAAdventuresTrappedInTime'' sees Creator/DiedrichBader and Creator/KevinMichaelRichardson reprise their respective roles from ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'' as Batman himself and Black Manta.
* Hades is played by James Woods in everything Creator/{{Disney}} has ever done related to ''Disney/{{Hercules}}.'' Apparently it's because Mr. Woods [[DoingItForTheArt just really likes being Hades!]]
** Tate Donovan also counts - except ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsI'', where Hercules is voiced by Creator/SeanAstin - though in the case of the TV series, he wound up voicing Hercules as a teenager even if in the movie he was only him as an adult (young Herc was Josh Keaton).
* ''Lego Batman: Be-Leaguered'' sees Creator/TroyBaker reprise his role from ''[[VideoGame/LEGOAdaptationGame Lego Batman 2: Beyond Gotham]]'' as [[Franchise/{{Batman}} the Dark Knight himself]]. But while he's the only one from the games to reprise his role, he's not the only actor reprising as it also sees Creator/JohnDiMaggio reprise his ''WesternAnimation/BatmanUnderTheRedHood'' role as SelfDemonstrating/TheJoker, Creator/NolanNorth and Creator/JamesArnoldTaylor reprise their roles from ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice'' as Franchise/{{Superman}} and Franchise/TheFlash, Creator/KharyPayton reprise his role from ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' as ComicBook/{{Cyborg}}, Music/GreyDeLisle reprise her respective roles in ''WesternAnimation/JLAAdventuresTrappedInTime'' and ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueDoom'' as Franchise/WonderWoman and ComicBook/LoisLane, Creator/KevinMichaelRichardson reprising his respective roles from ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'' as [[ComicBook/{{Aquaman}} Black Manta]] and the ''WesternAnimation/DCNation ComicBook/AnimalMan'' shorts as [[Franchise/TheFlash Captain Cold]], and [[spoiler: Creator/PaulReubens reprise his role from ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'' as Bat-Mite]].
** Its first sequel, ''Justice League vs. Bizarro League'', in addition to Baker as Batman, North as Superman, Taylor as the Flash, and Payton as Cyborg, sees Creator/DiedrichBader reprise his ''WesternAnimation/GreenLanternTheAnimatedSeries'' role as Guy Gardner, while Creator/TomKenny reprises his roles as the Penguin and Plastic Man respectively from ''WesternAnimation/TheBatman'' and ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold''.
** Its second sequel, ''Attack of the Legion of Doom'' sees Creator/JoshKeaton reprise his ''GL: TAS'' role as Hal Jordan and the return of [=DeLisle=] as Wonder Woman (who'd been replaced by Creator/KariWahlgren for ''[=JLvBL=]''), while Creator/MarkHamill reprises his role as the Trickster from both [[WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague the DCAU]] and [[Series/TheFlash1990 both]][[Series/TheFlash2014 live-action]] ''Flash'' series.
** The third sequel, ''Cosmic Clash'' has Creator/PhilMorris reprise his role as Vandal Savage from ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague''. Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl also appear, with Andy Milder and Kari Wahlgren reprising their respective roles from ''WesternAnimation/LegionOfSuperheroes'' .
** The fourth sequel, ''Gotham City Breakout'', sees Creator/HyndenWalch, Creator/ScottMenville , and Creator/GregCipes join Phayton in reprising their respective roles as Starfire, Robin, and Beast Boy from ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'', while Creator/TaraStrong reprises her role of Harley Quinn from the [[VideoGame/BatmanArkhamSeries Arkhamverse]]. Vanessa Marshall also reprises the role of Poison Ivy from the ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'' episode "The Mask of Matches Malone". Will Friedle reprises the role of Nightwing from ''WesternAnimation/BatmanUnlimitedAnimalInstincts'' as well as the web series and two sequels.
* The ''WesternAnimation/HellboyAnimated'' films sees Creator/RonPerlman, Selma Blair, Creator/DougJones, and Creator/JohnHurt reprise their respective roles from [[Film/{{Hellboy}} the live-action film series]] as Hellboy, Liz Sherman, Professor Bruttenholm, and Abe Sapien. In fact, as the movies were released before ''[[Film/HellboyIITheGoldenArmy The Golden Army]]'', this was the first time Jones's own voice was heard as Abe (having been dubbed over by [[Series/{{Frasier}} David Hyde Pierce]] in the first movie). The only exception besides Pierce is Jeffrey Tambor as Tom Manning, having been replaced by Creator/JimCummings.
* ''WesternAnimation/BatmanUnlimitedAnimalInstincts'': Creator/RogerCraigSmith reprises his ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamOrigins'' role as the Dark Knight himself and Creator/AlastairDuncan reprises his role from ''WesternAnimation/TheBatman'' as Alfred.
** Its sequel, ''WesternAnimation/BatmanUnlimitedMonsterMayhem'', sees not only the return of Smith and Duncan, but Smith's ''Arkham Origins''[='=]s co-star Creator/TroyBaker reprise his role as the Joker. Creator/FredTatasciore also reprises his role from the greater ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamSeries'' as Solomon Grundy and Creator/KharyPayton reprise his ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' role as Cyborg.
** ''WesternAnimation/BatmanUnlimitedMechVsMutants'' continues this with Creator/CarlosAlazraqui reprising his role from ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueDoom'' as Bane, joining Smith, Baker, Duncan, and Schlatter. Baker also reprises his role from the greater ''Arkham'' series as Two-Face.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLEGOMovie'':
** Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels reprise their ''Franchise/StarWars'' roles as Lando Calrissian and C-3PO.
** In the Italian dub, Claudio Santamaria reprises his role as Batman from ''Film/TheDarkKnightTrilogy''.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLEGOBatmanMovie'' has Billy Dee Williams reprise his role as Harvey Dent / Comicbook/TwoFace[[note]]Though his version of Harvey Dent never got to become Two-Face[[/note]] from ''Film/{{Batman}}''.
** The Italian dub gets once again Claudio Santamaria as Batman, also Gianfranco Miranda reprises his role as Superman from ''Film/ManOfSteel'' and Domitilla D'Amico as Harley Quinn like in ''Film/SuicideSquad''.
* In ''WesternAnimation/AGoofyMovie'' and ''An Extremely Goofy Movie'', Creator/BillFarmer, Creator/JimCummings, and Creator/RobPaulsen reprise their roles as Goofy, Pete, and PJ respectively from ''WesternAnimation/GoofTroop''.
* "A Miser Brothers Christmas", sequel/spinoff to "WesternAnimation/TheYearWithoutASantaClaus", had George S. Irving play Heat Miser again and Mickey Rooney back as Santa Claus.
* The Italian dub of ''Disney/TheJungleBook 2'' was recorded in 2003. Because the SequelGap was 35 years long, most of the original actors had either died, retired, or gotten too old. Only Sergio Tedesco, who voiced Kaa, was able to return.
** Francisco Colmenero reprised Dizzy in the Mexican Spanish dub.
** Roger Carel reprised Kaa in the European French dub.
** And the Greek dub saw Tasos Kostis and Giannis Kalantzopoulos come back as Baloo and Kaa, respectively.
* The Brazilian Portuguese dub of ''Disney/PeterPan: Return to Neverland'' was produced almost 50 years after the original movie. Miraculously, Orlando Drummond was still alive to return as Mr. Smee. Lauro Fabiano, who voiced Peter Pan when he was 18, was much too old to reprise his role, so he was instead the narrator.
** In the Italian dub, for reasons similar to the one described above for ''The Jungle Book 2'', the only original cast member coming back is Enzo Garinei as Smee (albeit from the 80's redub).
* Another massive sequel gap was between ''WesternAnimation/CharlottesWeb'' (1973) and ''Charlotte's Web 2: Wilbur's Great Adventure'' (2002). The Mexican Spanish dub was able to reprise Arturo Mercado as Wilbur and Francisco Colmenero as Templeton.
* The Italian dub of ''WesternAnimation/RatchetAndClank'' was done in Rome instead of Milan like the video games. Simone D'Andrea, who voiced Ratchet in the first three games, was the only video game cast member to return because he works in both cities.
** The original English version also qualifies. James Arnold Taylor, David Kaye, Jim Ward, and Armin Shimmerman reprise their respective roles as Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark, and Dr. Nefarious.
* In the Hungarian dub of ''WesternAnimation/TheSwanPrincess: Pirate Today, Princess Tomorrow'', József Kerekes returns as Jean-Bob, whom he had voiced in the first two movies twenty years prior.
* Even though ''WesternAnimation/SmurfsTheLostVillage'' is a total reboot and unrelated to Sony's [[Film/TheSmurfs live-action]] [[Film/TheSmurfs2 films]], Frank Welker still provides Azrael's voice.
** In the French dub, Gérard Hernandez reprised his role as Papa Smurf from both [[WesternAnimation/TheSmurfs the 80's cartoon]] and the aforementionned live-action movies.
** As for the French Canadian dub, Smurfette is once again voiced by [[CelebrityVoiceActor famous singer Marie-Mai]], reprising her role from the live-action movies.
* In a strange variation, Jeff Bergman, who recorded leftover lines for George Jetson and Mr. Spacely after their original voice actors passed during production of ''[[WesternAnimation/TheJetsons Jetsons: The Movie]]'', will take on both roles entirely in ''The Jetsons and WWE: Robo-WrestleMania''.
* The movie ''Tom And Jerry: Spy Quest'', which is a crossover movie with ''WesternAnimation/JonnyQuest'', has Eric Bauza reprise the role of Dr. Quest from ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooMysteryIncorporated''.
* ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooMaskOfTheBlueFalcon'' has the characters Blue Falcon and Dynomutt, the latter with Frank Welker reprising the role from ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooMysteryIncorporated'' and various Hanna Barbera cartoons in the 1970s and 1980s.
* The Marvel movie ''Marvel Superhero Adventures: Frost Fight!'' sees [[Creator/GreyDeLisle Grey DeLisle-Griffin]] and Antony Del Rio reprising the roles of Captain Marvel and Reptil from ''WesternAnimation/TheSuperHeroSquadShow''.
* ''[[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsMovie Star Wars: The Clone Wars']]' had Creator/SamuelLJackson, Creator/ChristopherLee, and Anthony Daniels return to their roles of Mace Windu, Count Dooku, and C-3PO respectively. Only Daniels would continue to the series, however.
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheMansionsOfTheGods'', compared to previous ''ComicBook/{{Asterix}}'' animated films, most of the voice actors are new. However, [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Carel Roger Carel]], who had been voicing Asterix ''since '''1967''''', came out of retirement just for this movie (he's well past his eighties and hadn't done any voice acting since 2010). Nobody had to beg him for it, though -- [[CoolOldGuy he volunteered himself]].
* In spite of being a separate continuity from ''WesternAnimation/PoundPuppies1980s'', ''WesternAnimation/PoundPuppiesAndTheLegendOfBigPaw'' had Ruth Buzzi, Creator/BJWard, and Creator/NancyCartwright reprise their roles as Nose Marie, Whopper, and Bright Eyes.
* The 2006 ''Literature/CuriousGeorge'' film had 2 DVD sequels released in 2010 and 2015. Both of them had Frank Welker return to voicing the character. While not the original voice for the character, Jeff Bennett reprises the role of Ted from the TV series.
* ''WesternAnimation/PenguinsOfMadagascar'' had Tom [=McGrath=], Chris Miller, and Christopher Knight reprise the roles of Skipper, Kowalski, and Private from the Madagascar films. [[spoiler: The stinger has Andy Richter and Danny Jacobs reprising the roles of Mort and Julien from the cartoon.]]

I decided to paraphrase something that was mentioned in the redundant second entry for 'Wreck-It Ralph 2' that I deleted earlier.

** [[Disney/RalphBreaksTheInternetWreckItRalph2 The sequel]] will feature the [[Franchise/DisneyPrincess Disney Princesses]] showing up for a cameo, with the majority of them being voiced by their original voice actresses.
