* ''VideoGame/{{Bug}}'' had [[SlippySlideyIceWorld Burrubs]] Scene 3. An area with blocks that only appeared when Bug was near. The first set was easy, as there were no enemies. The second set had a hell of an annoying snow flea throwing snowballs at Bug from the background, as well as acid-spitting flies that came from nowhere.

* ''VideoGame/JumpKing'': There are two distinct uses for invisible platforms, in two different areas.
** The [[spoiler:Hidden Kingdom]] attempts to fool the Jump King by combining invisible, but tangible platforms with visible bait platforms. The real platforms can be seen when [[spoiler:standing in a patch of red mushrooms somewhere else on the screen]].
** In the [[spoiler:Phantom Tower]] they're optional, but [[BenevolentArchitecture very helpful]]. Their location is occasionally revealed by just a few seconds of shimmering. They're positioned just right for full jumps and remembering their locations will greatly help with return trips back to the Halted Ruin and above.
* ''VideoGame/{{Claw}}'': Graciously absent from the main path, but going for secret treasure will require finding them in pretty much every level.

** ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros1'' marked the debut of the invisible blocks in the franchise, and is probably the TropeMaker. However, unless the player hits an invisible block's location from below, it isn't "solid" (see also DirectionallySolidPlatforms). The more sadistic PlatformHell ROM hacks of the games often have them in places where you ''don't'' want them to appear (e.g. right above a BottomlessPit), and as shown in [[http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/comic/71-hiddenblock/ this]] ''Webcomic/BrawlInTheFamily'' strip, the item coming out of the block is often a OneUp [[VideoGameCrueltyPotential to add insult to injury]].

** ''VideoGame/MarioParty5'': The minigame Bound of Music pits two dueling characters in a solid-cloud battlefield in the skies. Above them are 20 invisible blocks that can be hit, some of which are standard brick blocks and the other are Note Blocks; the latter kind is the priority here. After 15 seconds, or if all 20 blocks are hit before time runs out, the minigame will end and the characters will begin rising upward depending on how many Note Blocks each one hit. Whoever got to hit more such blocks will rise higher and win; but if both ended up hitting the same amount, then the minigame will end in a tie. Interestingly, if a player fails to unveil and hit any Note Block, they'll plummet to the ground because a hole will appear beneath them.

Was? Were? Had? So if I play the game right now it won't have any of those invisible blocks or platforms? Or you're just improperly using past tense here because the games are old and you think nobody plays them anymore? Or is it because all the games' copies were destroyed and there's no way to play them? This is why it's important to ALWAYS use present tense unless detailing backstory elements from a work, talking about past real-life events, or talking about digital games that are no longer available online

* ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkToThePast'' featured late-game dungeons with crystalline blocks that could only be revealed by bright light -- either by igniting strategically placed torches, or by using a medallion that summoned lightning-like magic. Once the lights went out, the blocks would vanish again.
** ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Ocarina of Time]]'' had several invisible platforms that became visible when you viewed them with the lens of truth.
** ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask'' featured invisible blocks at one point in the game--there was a random cave floating out a hundred feet or so from the edge of an icy cliff. The only way you could see these blocks was by talking to "the owl," who flew over and shed feathers in the process, which would land ''conveniently'' in the middle of each block. Naturally the cave has a lens of truth.

* In ''VideoGame/CommanderKeen'', the blocks are at least vaguely visible if you pay attention. In the first game, they have one visible pixel which shows up against a black background, and in the fourth game, they sparkle briefly every few seconds.
** The ones in episode one also never appear anywhere except against a black background, thanks to the block and background actually being the same tile.
