* Metallo in the movie version of [[SupermanBatmanPublicEnemies Superman/Batman: Public Enemies]]. In the comic version, outside of a mention that he might've been involved in the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne that turned out to be a RedHerring by Lex Luthor to keep Batman away, his subplot didn't have anything to do with the main plot; In the movie version, he was killed by Major Force (under orders from Luthor) to frame Superman.

** Calvin Norris too. This was, for me a major turn-off, as the book's version of Calvin is a significant recurring character, but in True Blood? He appears in like, five episodes and gets shot in the head by a character who barely existed in the books. Not to mention his death was completely out of left field as his killer was on V, something that was never even hinted at before.

* Interesting case with {{HigurashiNoNakuKoroNi}}. When the game was [[VideoGameRemake ported to PS2]], the original ending was changed into one where [[spoiler: Hanyuu gets KilledOffForReal]]. Other adaptations used the original ending. Curiously, the author claims that the PS2 ending is the "True" ending while the "normal" ending is the "Good" ending.

Compare with SchrodingersCat where a character's fate is different from the source material, but the source material is still ongoing (which may create the need for a [[RetCon drastic rewrite]] if the character in question becomes important later on in the source material).

Initially, all is as predicted. AliceAndBob are playing their parts in the movie just as they did in the book. You're just waiting for the end where they walk off into the sunset together and...[[WaitWhatWhoa did Alice just get her head lopped off!?]] For a moment, you are understandably shaken. After all, Alice didn't die in the book. What in the world happened? There's a very simple answer for that.
