It’s generally inferred she’s the main reason he keeps going making his death particularly tragic with Aerith able to sense it miles away. [[spoiler: Matters don’t get any less sad even when Zack is SparedByAdaptation through a TimeyWhimeyBall as in the ''Intergrade'' DLC wherein Zack excitedly goes to Aerith’s church in TheStinger, only to find Aerith not inside and people mourning — wiping the happy smile off his face.]]
