** The bridge of "What's This":
--->'''Jack:''' The sights! The sounds! They're everywhere and all around!\\
I've never felt so good before!\\
This empty place inside of me is filling up!\\
I simply cannot get enough!\\
Oh I want it! I want it for my own!\\
I've got to know, I've got to know!\\
What is this place that I have found?!\\
[[PunctuatedForEmphasis What. Is. THIS?!]]

** One unique aspect of the song is that, while Jack's attempt backfired horribly, he doesn't wallow in his pity party for long (although he had every right to). What happens instead is what launches the song from TearJerker to a combination of Heartwarming and Awesome. Jack (who started out the film struggling with his boredom about doing the same thing over and over again every Halloween) admits that he did his best, found the joy he had been missing for a very long time and is excited for next Halloween. The audience's faith in Jack finding purpose and meaning is rewarded as he screams "I AM the Pumpkin King!"

** Heck, their relationship with Jack all in all is very heartwarming. Jack is the big man on campus and it's clear from his opening scene. The denizens of the town may not understand Jack's newfound joy for Christmas or how different it is from Halloween. But if it makes Jack happy? They're going to go along and in the way, they find they actually enjoy it (albeit not in the way Jack intends for them but it's the thought that counts, right?). Jack himself reciprocates. He thanks everyone for their hard work in his opening scene and even gives everyone jobs that fit their personalities and skillset when he decides to take over Christmas. Say what you will about how scary Halloween is and how Jack's actions may have almost ruined Christmas...but it's so nice to see an entire town come together for one of their own and said person returns their affection.

** These lyrics at the end when Jack finds Sally in the graveyard on top of the Spiral Hill:
--->"My dearest friend\\
If you don't mind\\
I'd like to join you by your side\\
Where we can gaze into the stars\\
''(Sally joins in)'' And sit together\\
Now and forever\\
For it is plain, as anyone can see\\

* It's subtle, but the scene where the Mayor and a handful of other HalloweenTown citizens find Jack in Boogie's has one as well. The first words we hear are Lock, Shock and Barrel exclaiming "Here he is!" "Alive!" "Just like we said!" The CMOH comes when you realize that they arrived back at Boogie's seconds after he was defeated--meaning that the moment they heard Jack in the lair and realized he was in trouble, Oogie Boogie's [[HeelFaceTurn loyal henchmen]] had to have gone into HalloweenTown, found the Mayor, convinced him to help them, and then gone all the way back to save Jack's life. Jack Skellington means ''that much'' to his people.

* During Oogie's song, Santa cuts in (several times) to demand his release — not because he's afraid for his life, but because the children are expecting him. Being Santa isn't just a job or a role to him (the way Jack views being the Punpkin King at the start of the film): he genuinely cares about children and their happiness. [[BigGood As a good Santa should.]]

** The score concludes with a short reprise of "What's This?", but ends on a resolved note rather than a suspended one, suggesting that being in love with Sally not only gives Jack the same joy he had when he first discovered Christmas but that it gives him a greater sense of wholeness than Christmas ever could.
