* The last scene in ''MetalGearSolid'' (the bad ending, granted) when Snake and Otacon call each other by their real names for the first time. [[{{Squee}} Aww...]]
** Not only that, but they ride off together into the Sunset.
* To say Psycho Mantis is a sick fuck is a massive understatement...and yet, I couldn't help but find his death scene poignant, especially with his revealed backstory. "This is the first time I've used my powers...to help someone...strange...it feels kind of...nice..."
* The ending of ''MetalGearSolid 4'', in which [[spoiler:Big Boss uses his much vaunted CQC techniques to disarm Snake and then ''give him a hug'' before telling how much he respects him as a man, then dies after sharing one last cigar with his son]].
** In spite of his claims that he never thought of David as a son, John Doe's love for him as a father is all but confirmed with this:
--> "Snake, you are free now... Don't waste it... Start a new life..."
** Made all the more heartbreaking for the fact that David has [[spoiler: has only but THREE months left by that time.]]
** Seconded. The touching, soft music, the imagery and glowy hazy-ness of all the white flowers in the cemetary, and [[spoiler:Big Boss]]'s "This is good, isn't it?" never fails to make this troper tear up.
* Sunny forming a microcosm of the ideal of world peace when she says of her new friend "We don't understand each other's language but we're having fun."
** Don't forget [[spoiler:Meryl and Johnny's wedding.]]
*** Hey hey now, don't forget [[spoiler: [[strike:Johnny's]] Meryl's proposal!]]
** Something apparently overlooked: [[spoiler: after GW goes down and the absence of the system leaves Outer Haven's unmanned defenses dead weight, it also leaves the [=FROG=]s as lumps of weeping, broken women from the onslaught of, until now, suppressed battlefield trauma. The ensuing montage includes a scene of the Missouri's Marines, although keeping their guns trained at all times, rescuing them, with the less debilitated [=FROG=]s in the rafts trying to comfort the ones who have lost the will to even move.]]
*** [[spoiler: The part that really gets to this troper is one FROG holding another who has collapsed while stroking her head. Seriously one of the sweetest things she has ever seen.]]
** This troper, for one, got a little bit of this every time Big Mama ([[spoiler:AKA EVA]]) says "[[spoiler:That's my boy!]]". Now if that isn't a touching [[spoiler:mother and son]] moment, nothing is.
** Let's not forget Raiden's segment in the end of the game either. [[spoiler:After suffering all kinds of headbreaking injuries, emotional and physical, Raiden is fitted back with an organic-lookalike body and then reunited with Rose, who is accompanied by a little boy. She reveals that the child is Raiden's son and her apparent marriage to Colonel Campbell was just a cover to protect John from The Patriots. John tells Raiden he's cool like a superhero, and then flourishes his toy sword just like Raiden did in [=MGS2=]. The three of them embrace, Raiden promises Rose he will never abandon her again, and they finally get to be the family they always wanted to be.]] Say what you will about Raiden, but you can't deny that after all the crap he had gone through in his life, he really needed and deserved that happy ending.
*** I've only completed #2, but that scene between Raiden and Rose before the Sons of Liberty credits made me very happy for them both.
** Oddly, this troper found the scene in the act 5 briefing where Otacon pulls out his lighter and lights Snake's cigarette for him, despite berating him throughout all the games about his smokes, to be extremely sweet.
** Don't forget the final scene that played after the credits rolled. [[spoiler: Otacon promises Snake that he will remain with him as a witness to his life, remembering everything that Snake ever was, and saying that he and Sunny will stick with him until the day Snake dies.]] Makes this troper choke up every. single. time.
** The most heart-rending line is [[spoiler: "You don't have to come."]] And the most heartwarming is[[spoiler: the fact that Otacon will not hear of it.]] There's just something in my eye... every single time.
* In ''MetalGearSolid 2'', this Troper was touched by Snake's and Otacon's special handshake and hug after [[spoiler: the death of Emma]], it showed that [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Snake]] did care for Otacon far better then any words could.
* ThisTroper is surprised that no one made any mention of ''Metal Gear Solid 3'', in all its old-school espionage glory.
** While most of the Cobras you fight as the game progresses are clearly mentally ill, you can't help but feel sorry for them. Special mention goes to The Fury, who in his final moments begs The Boss to have caution, so she can live longer, and says his off to join [[spoiler: The Sorrow]], clearly showing deep feelings of friendship.
** This editor found the death of the Boss to be the most touching, and couldn't see as he finally pulled the trigger one last time. The final cutscenes did little to abate the tears as you find out [[spoiler: The Boss had really turned traitor to save her country]]
** And after you fight The End, he thanks you for giving him a warrior's death.
*** Even if you go non-lethal on him.
** MetalGearSolidPortableOps has a few. First, when the soldiers rescue Big Boss, he asks them why they care so much about him, and it becomes obvious just why Big Boss is such AFatherToHisMen: ''Because you're our boss!''
** The scenes in which both Python (stamina kill) and Null are defeated and then taken in by Big Boss are just humanity affirming incarnate.
** The ending has the biggest one of all. Big Boss is desperately trying to destroy the Saturn V rocket with Metal Gear RAXA, and all the soldiers who fought alongside him joi in, despite the fact the rocket ignition could kill them, and when Big Boss tells them not to throw away their lives, one of them tells him: ''You fought for our Motherland! Let us fight for yours!''
* Every single scene in Chapter 4 of MetalGearSolidPeaceWalker. Every one. [[spoiler:Big Boss storming through the base, guns blazing, in an attempt to save Paz]], [[spoiler:The FSLA and MSF storming said base to save Big Boss]], [[spoiler:All of MSF deciding to stay on Mother Base, even though it is due to be nuked in a few short minutes, all because they truly believe with all their heart that Big Boss will be able to stop Peace Walker ON FOOT]], [[spoiler:The Army chief risking nuclear annihilation on Big Boss's word alone]], and last, but not least, [[spoiler:Peace Walker letting Big Boss ''rip it's brain out'', before drowning itself in the San Juan river to save the entire world, all while playing ''"Sing"'' from SesameStreet]]. I cried like a child.
