She explains that she and her family had gotten caught up in Denji's fight against the Gun Fiend, and while she harbors some resentment towards Denji for not hearing her cries to save her now-deceased family, she immediately realized that the hero that was slaughtering Devils left and right was just a kid all along, and seeing the broken expression on his face after being forced to kill Aki made Fumiko realize she wanted to ''protect'' him rather than hold a grudge. From one of the absolute least likely of places, Denji has managed to find someone who truly cares about him as a person.
