***The filmmakers have made a big point of Joker only killing those who wronged him in some way. While it's certainly possible that he killed the therapist, it could also be symbolic of the bloody path Arthur is going to walk now.

* Related to much of the above, why did the various positive interactions that Arthur had with his mother Penny after he was returned to her custody and grew up living with her end up meaning nothing to him such that he was willing to casually commit matricide and have no obvious regrets about it? While she did apparently play a major role in his neglect and abuse at a younger age (contributing substantially to his present mental afflictions), and occasionally said insensitive things to him at an older age (e.g., "Don't you have be funny to be a comedian?"), their interactions once he has reached adulthood seem mostly affectionate onscreen before he finds out more about her past. While it does help explain why Arthur did not display hesitation at killing Randall later on (since he was only a workplace colleague and "fair-weather friend" at best, and he had already crossed a much bigger line by killing the woman who raised him for a good chunk of his life), he seems to place those he views as father figures (e.g., Thomas Wayne and Murray Franklin) on a pedestal such that he does not initially become physically violent against them even when they treat him with hostility and scorn, so why does this not apply to the maternal figure with whom he spent the vast majority of his life, for better ''and'' for worse?

* So did those three guys work for Wall Street, or did they work for Thomas Wayne?

* With 1981 technology, how likely was it for Murray Franklin to get good quality camera footage (with good quality sound) from Arthur's show?
** It looks like it was filmed by the club, which would have access to decent quality equipment. It's possible an employee at the club submitted a tape to Murray's show.
*** This is highly likely. One club called A Evening at the Improv (which started in 1963) has a [=YouTube=] Channel of many comedic standup recordings even as far back as the 1980s, including comedians like Michael Keaton (the 1989 Batman himself).

** Despite Creator/JoaquinPhoenix being in his mid-40s when he filmed the movie, [[DawsonCasting Arthur is implied to be in his early-30s]], as it was 30 years ago when Penny was working for Thomas Wayne, and [[AmbiguousSituation either created Arthur out of wedlock or adopted him with her abusive boyfriend]]. This would put him in his 50s by the time Bruce is old enough to be Batman. This is not unheard of; Creator/JackNicholson was 51 [[Film/Batman1989 when he played the Joker]] and Creator/CesarRomero was 59 by the time the [[Series/Batman1966 Adam West show]] started.

* How do the timelines of the film add up for the Joker to be Batman's greatest nemesis? Arthur appears middle-aged when Bruce is 8-10 years old, and it usually takes him until his late twenties/early thirties to become Batman. Won't he be elderly by the time Batman has even started being a vigilante?

** It's harder (but not impossible) for money to protect your reputation once you're already dead, and the authorities involved. More likely, this is simply a matter of what people actually knew, and the media's narrative; the woman on the subway left the car before the men even touched Arthur, and she later heard gunshots and screaming from one of them. If she'd gone to the police right away, she couldn't say anything meaningful in Arthur's defense. Doing so [[CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot would have lead to Arthur getting arrested earlier by providing a description,]] but she didn't out of either apathy, general mistrust of the police, or perhaps sympathy for Arthur. And before any of the mens' other victims learned what happened, the media decided to run with the story of "upstanding Wayne enterprises employees gunned down in cold blood by lunatic dressed as clown." After that, no one else wanted to come forward out of fear of going against what the media and police were pushing, and knowing that nothing they could testify to would get this mysterious clown off the hook for at least one cold-blooded killing and going on the lam. As the film progresses, were also shown that plenty of people did sympathize with Arthur; perhaps some people knowing the men assholes and the wasn't being accurate helped fueled this.
