While his Anime counterpart's calm and charismatic personality makes him a likable villain, Manga Goku Black is outright obnoxious, throwing tantrums when he doesn't get his way and only getting ahead due to luck. His motive for stealing for Goku's body and killing him is even more petty than the Anime incarnation's[[note]]Anime Present Zamasu's StartOfDarkness was all because Goku beat him in a friendly sparring match. The manga incarnation never even met Goku. He just saw him on Godtube and was disgusted that a mortal managed to gain the power of a god.[[/note]]. It's obvious that Toei was going for a villain that the audience would LoveToHate, while Creator/{{Toyotaro}} created a villain the audience wants to suffer as much as possible, ASAP.

* According to WordOfGod, Frieza was created around the time of the Japanese economic bubble and was inspired by real estate speculators, whom Akira Toriyama called the "worst kind of people." He purposely does not draw bad guys so unscrupulous that it affects one psychologically, although he admits Frieza is close. It backfired, however, as Frieza ended being a LoveToHate example and [[BreakoutVillain one of greatest anime villains of all time]].

* Tao Pai-Pai seems to have be made with the intention of being loathed by the viewers, starting with the very fact that he's the first [[HumansAreTheRealMonsters human]] who killed someone good in the cast. After he murders Upa's father [[HarmfulToMinors in front on him]] and defeats Goku in battle, he laughs at Upa and tells him that he's lucky that he's still alive, meaning that he has absolutely no problem killing children (and he all but kills Goku soon after). One of his worst offenses has to got to be when he forces a tailor to overwork on making an outfit for him in about three days...which he rewards by killing him. When he returns to Karin's Tower to look for the one Dragon Ball he neglected to find, he grabs Upa and throws him against the tower (fortunately, he was saved by Goku). He also charges eye-watering fees for his services simply because he can. It's taken further when he returns for the 23rd Tournament at the end of the anime's run: in addition to being back from the dead [[ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney thanks to cash]], he is now an extension of Tsuru Sen'nin's feud with Master Roshi, which itself was a hate-sink for Tsuru (see below). It makes his CurbStompBattle defeat at the hands of Tien all the sweeter.

* Nappa is even worse than Raditz -- ''more'' of a brute, ''more'' of a bully, and while not a coward, he compensates by being a sadistic HeroKiller. Goku crippling him for life, prompting [[ArcVillain Vegeta]] [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness to kill him for being dead weight]], was more than a fitting end for him.

Being such a big series with many villains, Manga/DragonBall was bound to have plenty of villains; Most of them being too over-the-top, [[LaughablyEvil hilarious]], or at least [[EvilIsCool too cool and badass]] to be hated. * Tsuru Sen'nin, also known as Shen, definitely qualifies thanks to his rivalry towards Master Roshi. While Roshi is hardly mature himself during their feuds, it's pretty clear that Roshi would rather stop the rivalry and move on with his life. Shen meanwhile intentionally targets Roshi in order to bring shame upon him (he only shows up at the 22nd Tournament because Roshi's students competed in the 21st), and teaches Tien and Chiaotzu to be cold, callous fighters (Tien himself is a Hate Sink until Roshi's influence causes him to turn). Shen's status as a Hate Sink is cemented when, after Tien refuses to kill Goku in the ring after discovering that Shen forced Chiaotzu to paralyze Goku, Shen orders Chiaotzu to paralyze them both. When Chiaotzu refuses to harm his friend, Shen grabs him by the cuff and attempts to kill him. Luckily, Roshi is able to blast Shen away with his signature attack.
* The original Piccolo Daimao, also known as King Piccolo, is this, which makes sense as he's the literal embodiment of evil. He directly causes the death of Goku's best friend and several other prominent martial artists simply because he's afraid of them, he overthrows the President of the World, and makes all crime completely legal. On top of that, he announces that every year (starting with the current one), he'll destroy a sector of the planet on the anniversary of his rule, ''[[ForTheEvulz for no reason other than because it's evil]]''. As if that weren't enough, during his fight with Goku he intentionally cripples Goku (who, it must be emphasized, is fourteen at the time) by blowing rocks at his arms and legs, [[WouldHarmAChild breaking them instantly and causing Goku to scream in utter agony]]. It isn't until Goku defeats him and Daimao is reincarnated into Ma Junior that his character changes via a redemption arc, and even that wouldn't begin until after Raditz is defeated two arcs later.

* Among the twelve Gods of Destruction, Quitela, Universe 4's God of Destruction, is clearly the most amoral of them all. He hates Beerus with a passion, and does all he can to hinder Universe 7's progress before the Tournament of Power begins, by secretly spying on U7, and [[ManipulativeBastard manipulating Sidra]] of Universe 9 into [[KickTheSonOfABitch trying to take out Frieza]] before he could join U7's team. [[spoiler:When U9 was erased by the Zeno's, besides Mojito]], Quitela is the only one who's not even fazed by it, instead just smiles and snickers.

Even the initial mitigating factor of him being a WellIntentionedExtremist falls flat as [[NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist for all his claims of justice he's shown to a racist trying to]] [[InTheirOwnImage remake the world in his image]] [[UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans all in the name of his so called utopia]]. Anyone who does like him is strictly based upon a LoveToHate angle. All in all he ended up becoming one of the [[BreakoutVillain most popular villains of the franchise]].

* Babidi seems to be made to be as unlikable as possible and thus all the more satisfying when Majin Buu kills him. He's a sadistic, utterly callous villain who's also an idiotic DirtyCoward, in stark contrast to the much more likable Majin Buu and Dabura. He's up there with Frieza in being utterly despicable without even the excuse of being born evil, and for bonus, he's a BigBadWannabe.

* While Fat Buu avoids this trope for his childish nature and Kid Buu is just a mindless evil, Super Buu seems to invoke this trope, since he's a psychopathic creature who is fully aware of his actions and doesn't care. He dips into this territory when he kills every human outside of Kami Tower with a sadistic glee (except for Mr Satan, who he has a soft spot for); this is conveniently called Human Extinction Attack, bringing the human race to extinction. He also killed Goten's mother, Chi-Chi in front on him. And for bonus, he's also an outright prick who has tantrums when things don't go his way.

* Zamasu, a JerkassGod who has it out for humanity (and mortals in general) [[HumansAreFlawed because they are almost always in conflict and often wage war with each other]]. An understandable feeling if he was rational about it, but his continuous {{Wangst}} and desire to [[FinalSolution purge humanity with sadistic glee]] can do more than rub one the wrong way. [[MoralEventHorizon Though, Zamasu committed a clearly irredeemable act when he]] [[spoiler: [[MoralEventHorizon murders his mentor, Gowasu]]]] and steals the Time Ring to enact his grand plan, [[spoiler: [[GrandTheftMe stealing Goku's body then killing his family with the same body really didn't help matters either.]]]] In short, [[{{Hypocrite}} his desire to end all violence by killing all mortals as well as other gods who would try to stop him]] really makes Goku and the others hate him. However, much like Frieza, Zamasu ended being a LoveToHate example.
