** Itsuki proposes a treasure hunt to Kindaichi and Miyuki, and the three of them join the magazine editor, who's the organizer for the event. A moment of awkward VisibleSilence ensues when Itsuki sets the record straight.]]

** A prime example of this premise is "A Peek at Kindaichi and Miyuki's Daily Life", a one-chapter StandaloneEpisode taking place on a holiday with no mystery case(s) to solve.[[note]] In this episode, Miyuki tries to get Kindaichi to go shopping with her, as he had promised her that he'd do so and the sales event would end after the day, but Kindaichi, having played video game until 5 that morning, isn't willing to oblige, and nothing Miyuki says or does would get him to budge, so Miyuki ends up going out by herself, though not before [[FaceDoodling leaving graffiti all over his face]] as payback for his broken promise. Kindaichi himself isn't aware of what Miyuki had done to him until his mother points out after he finally wakes up at one in the afternoon, much to his mother's amusement.[[/note]]

** Shortly thereafter, Kindaichi, Miyuki, and Kenmochi meet up with Akechi at a cafe. Upon confirming that orders are for free due to the police department footing the bill, Kindaichi indulges himself to his heart's content, wolfing food down when it arrives, much to Miyuki and Kenmochi's embarrassment.[[note]] Akechi, meanwhile, shows little to no reaction.[[/note]]

** The case arc starts with Makabe arranging for the Mystery Club members to be paired up into separate groups for different murder cases that took place in the past, and he tries to have the box for drawing lots rigged so that he'd be paired up with Miyuki. Unfortunately, the keyword is "tries", because Kindaichi soon figures out his ploy and does some rigging of his own, ending with Miyuki being paired up with Kindaichi while Makabe himself gets paired up with two homely girls instead.

** Shortly after arriving at the brewery and having met the employees there, Aoba talks of the storehouse where the distillery tanks are located, which piques Kenmochi's interest. Aoba promptly suggests for Kenmochi to sign up for the storehouse tour, which he does with gusto.

** After a Photography Club member is found dead, Kindaichi attempts to enter the room that is the crime scene, but the supervisor of the cops turns him away and closes the door... only to find Kindaichi somehow managing to slip his way into the room. Thankfully, Kenmochi is there to vouch for Kindaichi before the police supervisor is about to get rough on him. For bonus hilarity points, the police supervisor is portrayed with some elements of SumoWrestling in mind: burly body shape, pushing Kindaichi out of the classroom via [[RapidFireFisticuffs fast and successive palm-pushing]] (a la [[Characters/StreetFighterII E. How Saki reacts to the sculpture is not shown, but Kindaichi is... utterly perplexed by it, as it's a mishmash of various objects being seemingly combined pell-mell (e.g. part of the sculpture is a fish with a man's face clamping on a human neck that's attached to a hand holding a baseball while a steering wheel hangs off the forearm of said baseball-holding hand) with ''no explanation given behind such an assembly''.

** To drive the point further about how loud the equipment maintenance personnel's voice is, the panels show Kindaichi AND the skier both covering their ears as reaction to him '''bellowing''' at the skier, who also keeps some distance from the phone to reduce the vocal impact. Moreover, some of the snow on the building roof falls off from the sheer force of the shouting. Finally, at least one of the ski team members chimes in to try to get the guy to calm down a bit.

** Kindaichi, being the ApatheticStudent, struggles to cope with the strict regimen in the CramSchool, and it ''shows''. He begs and pleads to go with Miyuki when she tells him goodbye, right around the START of the regimen, necessitating Souta to hold him back. Then he gets distracted by his own thoughts about how Miyuki is doing early in a class session, which causes him to pull out the wrong textbook and results in the teacher telling him off for it. The meals being provided in the facility isn't enough to sate his appetite, as evidenced when he whines about needing a hamburger and fries. He also finds the study sessions, each of which lasts ''hours'' at a time, quite grueling, though Miyuki is ''happy'' that he's finally studying now when hearing about it on the phone, which displeases him. At one point he breaks down, causing the teacher to tell him not to make noises and to turn to the subject at hand, before immediately letting his mind wander with the ImagineSpot of Miyuki, much to Sota's exasperation.

** Kindaichi and Kenmochi have a discussion about the murder case after it's wrapped up during a game of shogi, but Kenmochi is struggling... until Akechi suggests a move to Kenmochi that would turn the table on Kindaichi. The case arc ends with Kindaichi protesting against Akechi's UnwantedAssistance as a spectator and Akechi, in turn, suggesting himself as Kindaichi's opponent next.
