* After Alvin "finds religion", he tells Gracie that he'd be sympathetic and understanding if she would prefer to marry another man. Gracie, already in love with Alvin. Though not altogether approving of Alvin's rather tactless attempts to marry her himself previously. Gives him a thorough tongue lashing for it, even waving a knife in the rather nervous Alvin's face at one point.
