* According to Noboru Asahi and Kenji Kawaguchi, when Sayama was still training Shooto fighters, there were so many students at Super Tiger Gym that Sayama couldn't remember all their names, so he started nicknaming them based on their appearance. One hilarious example of this happening was when he forgot the first name of a fighter surnamed Ito at the time of a tournament, so he listed him as "Shiro Ito" (Shiro meaning White) without informing him, and put it in the pamphlet. Ito was shocked when he saw the pamphlet and the other fighters burst out laughing when they all saw it.

* Tiger Mask has knocked Ultraman down with a kip-up into a dropkick, but Ultraman doesn't fall off the ring as he seemed. Sayama then feints another dropkick with a cartwheel, and both wrestlers go against the ropes, only for them to hit the mat in unison, as in the classic move to allow the opponent to sprint over them. They look at each other in confusion, get up and run to the ropes... but they realize they are again running against the ''same side'' of the ring. The two wrestlers pause the match and stare at each other for some minutes with a "you have to be kidding me" look on their masked faces. The entire sequence just seems straight out of a Kikutaro & Kuishinbo Kamen match.

* At the very debut of Tiger Mask, Dynamite Kid gets reversed and pinned by Sayama for the three. DK is so incredulous and angry with the loss that his first reaction right after the bell is throwing a surprise roundhouse kick to Tiger. Sayama retaliates by kicking him in return and adopting a fighting stance again, in the vein of "what, you want more?".
