** At first, the dissonance between Zero's actual age and his youthful appearance seems to make no sense. [[spoiler: Then the Past Arc implies that Rei's hatred and vengeance towards Doc stunted his growth, and Zero's death seemed to push his growth back even further.]] It is possible that at the beginning of the story, Zero could have been in the middle of his second growth spurt, [[spoiler:especially since the first one had been held back for so long. He looks as young as he does because his body's ''finally'' getting around to catching up with his chronological age.]]

* FridgeHorror:
** [[spoiler:The events of the Past Arc & how they unfold potentially implies that the entire series is a StableTimeLoop since certain plot critical elements wouldn't have happened without Himeko and the Punishment Squad traveling back in time. However, this also brings a disturbing angle to the death of Ouka's father--we see that Kurohime claimed responsibility for killing him, but only after seeing Ouka's witch-beast kill him. There's a good chance that Ouka has ''always'' been her own father's killer and her childhood memories were distorted from the truth due to trauma and Kurohime's firm claim of responsibility for killing him.

Asura knew from the beginning that she would be a part of the Ultimate Sword, and her trouble transforming back into her normal self is a result of her resentment about being treated as one. If Himeko had not spared Asura, Asura would not have realized that she was the only one who thought of herself that way.]]

If spare parts. Himeko's decision to spare Asura is what proved to Asura that she was wrong about being a mere "substitute" for Yamatohime and the Ultimate Sword; if Himeko had not spared Asura, hadn't done this, Asura would not wouldn't have realized had the time to learn that she was the only one who thought of herself that way.AS spare parts.]]
