Rather than there be no reason for JP\'s weird actions in the movie I point out that he\'s actually displaying almost all the signs of Asperger\'s.

JP's robot voice (displays odd speech patterns), arrogance (lack of empathy) and genius (deep interest confined to a restricted area) may all be signs of Asperger's. See that Other Wiki for more information on the diagnosis but JP does show all the signs with the possible exception of physical clumsiness.
