* ''Comments'': Despite the somewhat vague summary, the story itself is a well written (both in terms of content and grammar) and interesting ride. The plot runs parallel to the series canon and the author has made it a point to make sure that the events of the main plot don't change for the most part, with only slight alterations when they do. Mind you, this doesn't mean the OC characters don't interact with the main cast, they do, but they're all well done and add depth to the main plot. You could easily see this story with its characters existing in RWBY canon. It even has its own side story called ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10098591/1/XTRA-Resolve XTRA: Resolve]]'', which covers material not seen in the main fic, at least, for the most part. The characters are great, have their own lives, and while the focus is on the protagonist, we still learn about them as well. Easily one of the best RWBY OC stories out there, I can't recommend it enough.

** Seconding the recommendation. Fic is very well-written, characters from both sides are faithful to canon and greatly fleshed out, there are several impressive(if a bit controversial) plot twists, and there's a balance between action, drama and comedy. And thanks to well-done exposition, you don't even need to be [=XCOM=] fan to enjoy it - although it'll definitely help.
** I genuinely CANNOT recommend this fic in the slightest. It turns RWBY from a team of LightningBruisers with incredible powers, strong and unique personas, and a knack for getting the job done their way into four little girls in soldier armor, stripped of an essential part of themselves and treating it like they lost some cool toys. The author forgot how much Ruby adores Cresent Rose and let's her causally hand it over to a bunch of mean people. The author turns Yang from a lovable, perky blond juggernaut into a moody bitch. Blake and Weiss seem to be there for the sake of having the whole team around, and Juane, who has been spending most of his screen time sticking up for his TrueCompanions, lets RWBY fall into a portal without doing anything about it.
