Set as an AlternateUniverse TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture starting in the late 21st century, it features Miles "Tails" Prower as a British space naval officer and starts the series at the beginning of his career at age 15. Serving as an information warfare officer aboard the destroyer HMSS ''Campbeltown'', he finds his feet and overcomes self-confidence issues (brought about by family problems and Impostor Syndrome), ultimately marrying his childhood friend Surgeon Lieutenant Maria Robotnik and fathering twins with her. During a surprise attack that threatens a key space station, he sacrifices himself in a suicide attack against a core enemy ship. But despite being physically killed, the young fox is still alive as an artificial intelligence. Joined to a new body, he sets out to confront the enemy and protect his family and his homelands.

''Vulpinroid'' is a Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog AlternateUniverse fanfic by Cy-Fox. Set TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture in the 22nd century, it revolves around two-tailed Keplerian fox Miles "Tails" Prower who enters the Royal Space Navy as a way to escape from his father's plans to follow in his footsteps as an army officer. Further complicating things is his feelings for Maria Robotnik, a human childhood friend, who he has to leave behind for a few years. Also down the line, an origin story for Dr. Ivo Robotnik is in play, where he ends up in an AlternateUniverse where there is a much different Kingdom of Acorn from what he recalls historically, fighting a war against Overlanders. Acting with good intention at first, Ivo progressively goes insane and decides to try to take over Mobius (sound familiar?). Later on after attempting TimeTravel, Ivo finds himself back 'home' and teams up with the Acornian Remnant to try to take over his home timeline as well.

Tails finds himself the UnexpectedSuccessor in command of the destroyer Campbeltown and has the ship evacuated before ramming it into what was assumed to be Robotnik's command ship, but ends up restored as an AI rather than permanently dead.
