* DidntThinkThisThrough: When Big Mac and Flim have a confrontation over Flim's relationship with Applejack, Flim finally responds to a threat from Big Mac about breaking off Flim's horn by dropping the various farm equipment he's carrying with his levitation. This causes "several hundred bits" worth of damage he'll have to pay back... and also means he drops the scythe on top of himself, cutting a deep gash in his body. And he's a hemophiliac (his blood doesn't clot right) so he nearly ''bleeds to death'' before Big Mac gets him to the hospital.

* IllGirl: A male version. Flim is a hemophiliac, meaning his blood doesn't clot. He also seems to have other medical problems, most openly a propensity to panic attacks, though he assures Applejack that they should be recessive [[spoiler:especially since their child is a filly]].
** Flam is stated as having inherited the hemophilia genes as well, which makes sense, given they're identical twins.

* AnythingThatMobes: Discussed. While Applejack can tolerate gay friends because they can at least "stick with a team", she presumes that since bisexuals can be sexually attracted to both sexes, they're amoral sex addicts. * AllGaysArePromiscuous: A variant of this trope is why Applejack is initially hostile about bisexuals, and particularly disgusted when she finds out Flim is bisexual. She presumes that since bisexuals can be sexually attracted to both sexes, they're inherently incapable of being monogamous. She gets called out on this quite sternly.

* BiTheWay:
** Flim is pretty comfortable with mares and stallions, though he keeps the attraction to males on the quiet. There are subtle implications that most of his sexual encounters, up to and including his loss of virginity, have been with stallions, though his own sexual attraction to Applejack is pretty clearly genuine.
** Applejack eventually confesses that she tried having sex with Rainbow Dash once.
** It's implied Flam shares his brother's tastes, but distinctly prefers mares.

* HeteronormativeCrusader: Applejack has shades of this, but is largely portrayed sympathetically. It's worth noting that it's only BiTheWay ponies that she has a problem with, she doesn't mind gay/lesbian ponies. Hypocritically, she's had a minor sexual fling with Rainbow Dash herself, even though she prefers stallions.
