* CombatPragmatist: Wingill and Fin fight this way throughout the Ocean Champion Tournament. The rules are who ever is remaining on the platform when time is up is the winner, but rather than fight their opponents in a straight battle, they know the opposing Reptidals into the water and then freeze it with Ice Beam, preventing them from getting out in time and thus them becoming the winners with minimum effort. They are continually called out on this, but even though it is looked down on as dirty the judges don't rule it as cheating.

* AdultFear: Titan and Mercy have their egg containing their child stolen from them while they're sleeping. They both spend months not knowing what has happened to it, while others search everywhere for it and the thieves who stole it. [[spoiler:They are thankfully reunited with their son, Hopper, safe and sound, but only after he had spent months without them and having reached his final evolution, essentially growing up without them. Later when they witness him battle against Ryu's Noivern, Mercy covers her eyes with her wings to keep from watching, not wanting to see her child in pain.]]

* NeverMyFault:
** In "Goosebumps in the Night", Spike and Doc both support Flash's idea to cut through the woods as a shortcut and save a day's worth of time for themselves, outvoting Twilight. But when they end up getting lost, both of them put the ''entire'' blame on Flash, even though they supported it previously.
** After Lightning and Trixie lose Camp Everfree's Double Battle tournament against Gloriosa and Timber, Lightning blames Trixie for his loss, saying he would have won if he she had stayed out of the way. But he was the one who refused to work with her throughout the whole tournament, and his negligence led to her Wizentice being eliminated first, before his Chimplug was overwhelmed. Trixie and everyone else present immediately call him out on this, saying he is just being a SoreLoser.

* TheDogBitesBack: Gloriosa says that the the Magikarp in Camp Everfree's lake always found itself on the receiving end of mean tricks from the other Pokémon, and that it was only a matter of time before it hit its RageBreakingPoint. This finally ends up happening when Lightning Blitz kicks it away from him when it won't leave him alone. This is the last straw for it, and it evolves into Gyarados, going on a RoaringRampageOfRevenge before it is knocked out by Clauncher.
* EntitledBastard: Lightning Blitz says he deserves any strong Pokémon he encounters. He ends up throwing a fit at Camp Everfree twice due to this, first when he tries and fails to catch Harry the Grizzor, and it chooses to stay with Fluttershy instead, and later demanding to Gloriosa that she hand over the Gyarados she caught, even though it only evolved because he was bullying it.

* HeroicBSOD: Flash goes through one after the end of the Hoofington Battle Tournament results in [[spoiler:him losing to Lightning Blitz yet again, and by a big margin]]. He enters a state of depression, feeling he let everyone down and couldn't keep his promise to Grand Hoof, and questioning if his way of training his Pokémon is right after all. This is later made even worse when [[spoiler:Hopper needs to leave his team to become the next King of the Dragons]], with Flash feeling he is even weaker now. He finally comes out of it in "The Pokérus Training Ground", after getting an [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre encouraging talk]] from Twilight.

* ToxicFriendInfluence: The more Twilight spends with Timber Spruce, the more she reverts back to her old way of thinking, believing that everything the Pokedex says is absolute, and not thinking outside the box at all. She also noticeably becomes a lot more aggressive with Flash, causing [[PlotMandatedFriendshipFailure a massive strain on their friendship]] due to constantly comparing him to Timber.

** Timber constantly acts like a cool guy who acts like he is a genius when it comes to Pokémon, but he just dismisses any Pokémon he sees as weak from its Pokedex entry, instead of trying to learn more about them. When he decides to go on his own journey once camp ends, he tries to get Twilight to join him, attempting to steal her from Flash, and by extension the rest of his friends. When Twilight decides to decline his offer and stay with Flash, Timber noticeably becomes a lot more aggressive and mean, even openly insulting Flash at one point.

Added DiffLines:

* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: When Astro is poisoned by an Ariados's poison sting, Flash has all five of his remaining Pokémon attack the Ariados at once, sending the spider flying.
* TooMuchAlike: Twilight gets along great with Timber because they are so similar, but she realizes that the two of them are ''Eaton much'' alike. Spending time with him made her [[AesopAmnesia forget everything she learned traveling with Flash]] and revert to her old way of thinking. So she ultimately decides to stay with Flash instead of go traveling with Timber, because if she stayed with Timber she would never learn anything new.

** Flash can be one at times. Throughout the story he has primarily had ShipTease moments with Twilight, but a few other girls have also shown romantic interest in him. This includes [[spoiler:Sunset Shimmer [[FirstKiss kissing him]] as thanks for helping her at the end of '' Total Eclixie of the Heart'' and flirting with him in her later appearances, and Sonata Dusk telling him she loves him (which he doesn't hear due to the noise from the crowd)]].
** Princess, the shiny Skeidran, is a DudeMagnet. Ever since she hatched, every single Hoppin, Velocirush, and Skeidran has been trying to woo her by showing off to her and trying to impress her with their moves.
