Ryoma is a Level 4 adventurer of the Amaterasu Familia, making him an elite second-class adventurer as well as a mediator between the factions. His wife, Oryou, is even more powerful, a Level 6 adventurer on par with the strongest adventurers from the Loki and Freya Familia.Familia.
** In addition, Oryou is one of four adventurers in the world said to be on par with or even surpassing Orario's best. The others are "The Legiones", "The Radiance", and "The Asura".

* MakeGamesNotWar: Hachiman built the Arena in Sekigahara for "proper stress relief", allowing anyone itching for a fight to find one in a controlled setting where people can come to watch instead of attacking each other in the street.

* MyKungFuIsStrongerThanYours: "Wind Blade" Shinjiro is famed for his mastery of Shohato, a sword technique in which he slashes twice in almost the same instant. Kojiro scoffs at him for being unable to kill a swallow with such a thing, later killing him with Tsubame Gaeshi, which slashes ''three'' times in the same motion.

* RePower: The Servants do not have the same strength and speed they once did with their spiritual bodies as incarnated humans. Because of this, Kojiro initially struggles against a Level 2 Adventurer he could have easily trounced as a Servant. However, Servants who join a familia grow unusually quickly once they're given falna. Ryoma and Oryou are able to reach Level 4 and Level 6 respectively within a decade, regaining their lost strength in the process. Compare this to the average adventurer who can spend their entire career without a level up.

Added DiffLines:

* DeathGlare:
** Oryou flashes this at Araki for injuring Ryoma, and the KillingIntent everyone feels from it is suffocating and even hardened adventurers pale at the sight of her rage.
** Nyx flashes a similar glare at a Rakian guard, though rather than GlowingEyesOfDoom, Nyx's eyes lose their pupils.

Added DiffLines:

* KickTheDog: The men patrolling Rakia's ports are needlessly rude to Nyx when searching it as part of a routine customs check. Every time she tries to explain herself, she's too nervous to respond amidst their shouting and physical threats,.

* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Haruhime's father is respected for how important he and his family are politically, but no one actually ''likes'' him. He's a {{Jerkass}} who keeps his daughter in a GildedCage, he's a SmugSnake who constantly talks down to others and only treats people well out of honor and obligation, and he'd rather disown his daughter and heir than allow her to pursue her own desires. Amaterasu is ready to beat the crap out of him for doing the latter, Tsukuyomi calls him a fool, and the best thing [[NiceGuy Ryoma]] can say about him is that he's honor-bound.

Added DiffLines:

* NobleBigot: Susanoo fears outsiders and wants to turn the Far East into a warrior state where only the strong survive, but this is because he genuinely believes that it will produce a stronger country. He also cares deeply for his own children and is outraged when one of his own children is involved in Haruhime's kidnapping, as it could have easily sparked a CivilWar.

* GreenAroundTheGills: Bell discovers that he gets terribly seasick during his voyage to Rakia, hunching over the side of the boat and desperately trying not to puke twice until Nyx gives him some awful tasting but effective medicine to cure it.

* MetaPowerUp: Uchide no Kozuchi is a unique spell that can temporarily level up an adventurer, making them dramatically more powerful than they already were. This spell is the reason why Haruhime is so desired and feared, and her presence alone threatens the balance of power in the Far East, hence Susanoo's and Tsukuyomi's desire to be rid of her. That said, it's far from absolute, and Oryou easily defeats Araki after purposefully having Haruhime use it on him to give him a HopeSpot.

* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Downplayed. As a child, Bell immediately stamps the label of hero on Kojiro for his incredible strength and skill even without a falna. While this isn't entirely wrong (Kojiro is a Heroic Spirit after all), he's also far from the traditional storybook hero. Kojiro is instead a man who seeks nothing but interesting conversations and worthy opponents to entertain himself with and isn't concerned with the affairs of others. Because of this, he feels nothing when killing others and tends to solve most of his problems with violence, whether weather it's slitting the throats of men trying to kill Bell or threatening to kill a man if he doesn't confess his crimes. Even after a hard-fought duel against a Level 2 adventurer that ends with the latter in pieces, Kojiro's only real reaction is satisfaction from achieving his Tsubame Gaeshi again. As Bell comes to grips with this, he starts to worry if Kojiro cares about him at all, though Kojiro's own perspective shows that he cares about Bell more than he ever thought he would.

It's said that when she's angry, she could rouse storms and ruin mountains with a wave of her hand. Given her true serpent form, this is not an exaggeration.
