* BerserkButton: Rocinante is essentially a walking BerserkButton for Doflamingo due to their...''complicated'' relationship. Rocinante takes advantage of it in 'Settling The Score', which is particualarly impressive [[spoiler: due to being [[UnPerson turned into a toy]] at the time and Doflamingo not remembering him.]]

His boyfriend Marco, hundreds of miles away and without any knowledge of what's happened, can't remember Ace even when looking at a picture of the two of them. Shanks and Benn are similarly affected. A series written by Keerea set in an AU where the Marines get too close to finding Ace and Luffy, so Garp calls up Shanks and gives his permission for the Emperor to steal his grandsons. Shanks agrees, and Ace, Sabo and Luffy grow up under the somewhat dubious care of the Red Hair Pirates.

* DidWeJustHaveTeaWithCthulhu: Eustass Kid's reaction when he encounters a hungover Shanks in 'Just Kidding Around'. His crew seems to regard Benn's relationship with Shanks in a DidYouJustRomanceCthulhu light, as well. Benn is mildly annoyed.

* EveryoneIsGay / EveryoneIsBi: The only heterosexual pairings are Sabo and Koala (and Sabo offhandedly mentions he's bi) and Franky and Robin (Robin is also noted to be bi).

* LikeFatherLikeSon: The ASL brothers are often compared to their adoptive parents Shanks and Benn over their birth fathers, and they all like it that way.
** In 'Burn It To The Ground', however, Ace sees Marco take a bad hit and his resulting rage reminds Shanks and Marco so strongly of Roger they both privately vow to not tell him about it for a ''very'' long time.

** Light can be distorted by gravity. Thus, Kizaru has trouble in a fight against Fujitora.
* MagneticHero: Luffy, as in canon. Though he can be a little more forceful about it, insisting on his crew taking [[spoiler: Bellamy]] with them after ''Settling the Score'' and an entire story is dedicated to his determination to recruit X Drake because he thinks dinosaurs are cool. Bentham also happily joins up after Marinford.
* MomentKiller: Luffy, [[RunningGag repeatedly.]]

* ReverseMole: After he becomes a Warlord, Buggy scams the World Government by convincing them that he can get information from Shanks, who still considers him a friend. [[CrowningMomentOfFunny Buggy and Shanks then proceed to do regular, massive pub crawls on the government's dime and feed them a mix of information that they already know and information that's completely false.]]
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Ace sees Marco take a bad hit in one story. The fact that the story is titled 'Burn It To The Ground' should tell you everything you need to know about his reaction.

* NoSocialSkills: Law is not very skilled with people, and Luffy can be dense enough to miss things unless pointed out. It has fairly bad consequences in 'Wanted Man', as Luffy doesn't realize [[spoiler: looking into Sanji's family]] would make him upset, and Law more or less doesn't care.
