The story begins when the SI, Poe, is pushed off a station into the path of an onrushing train. This meeting of two objects doesn't end well, of course, but Poe manages to survive being mulched into the ground via the intervention of a special being who calls himself Mephisto. The deal is simple: Do a little delivery and he'll let Poe live once more. Poe accepts, a blaze of fire engulfs him and he finds himself on a train.

Thus begins his trip around the multiverse.
