''Conscience of a Nation'' (shortened to CoaN) is a British election game roleplay on Website/AlternateHistoryDotCom, created and run by Major Crimson. The game began in 1837 as a Parliamentary game but a series of dramatic events meant that, by 1840, it has become a Civil War simulator.

----

* AristocratsAreEvil: PlayedWith, many of the characters on both sides of the Civil War are Aristocrats of varying moral standards.
* InspirationalMartyr: The Birmingham Massacre transformed the Chartists from reformists and petitioners into revolutionaries after British soldiers shot and killed 400 of their number.
* PresidentEvil: More specifically "Prime Minister Evil" as hardline Tory PM the Duke of Beaufort comes in to crush the Revolution with an iron fist.
%% * LaResistance: The Chartists quickly become this after the government's attempt to use the Army to arrest Chartist leaders ends in bloodshed.
* TheRevolutionWillNotBeCivilized: Though most risisings were at least a little civilised, Liverpudlian Chartists strung up any British officers they could find and threw their bodies into the Mersey.
* TheRevolutionWillNotBeVilified: The Chartists, at their inception, have been surprisingly reasonable and calm. Though radicals like "Halfhand" Pound are calling for reprisals, most revolutionaries have been enlightened enough to work for a democratic government, make steps towards women's emancipation and even except the very Tory Prime Minister who started the war into their ranks.
%% * SlobsVersusSnobs: Effectively the Civil War.
%% * QuintessentialBritishGentleman: Unsurprisingly, there are a few.
