Although his career started as playing Cockney spiv types on radio, he gravitated towards TV comedy in TheSeventies. He had a recurring role as Vincent in ''Series/DoctorInTheHouse'' and its follow up series (''Doctor at Large'' and ''Doctor in Charge''), and was cast as Mr. Harman the maintenance man in ''Are You Being Served?'' to replace the character of Mr. Mash after Larry Martyn had left the show.

Arthur Leslie Norman English, (9 May 1919 – 16 April 1995), was a British actor best known for playing Mr. Harman in ''Series/AreYouBeingServed''.

Although his career started as playing Cockney spiv types on radio, he gravitated towards TV comedy in TheSeventies. He had a recurring role as Vincent in ''Series/DoctorInTheHouse'' and its follow up series (''Doctor at Large'' and ''Doctor in Charge''), and was cast as Mr. Harman the maintenance man in ''Are You Being Served?'' to replace the character of Mr. Mash after Larry Martyn had left the show.

He also had a large role as Arthur in the first five series of ''In Sickness and in Health'', a sequel to '70s series ''Series/TillDeathUsDoPart'', although he was unavailable for the final series due to health issues.

He died of emphysema at the age of 75.
