Alan Armstrong (July 17, 1946), known professionally as Alun Armstrong, is a British actor. Armstrong is well known for his roles in both the stage and the screen, having even won an Olivier Award for his performance in ''Theatre/SweeneyToddTheDemonBarberOfFleetStreet''. Armstrong is perhaps best known for his role as eccentric former detective Brian Lane in ''Series/NewTricks'', and for playing roles in various different Creator/CharlesDickens adaptations.
