Zero context on Story Breaker Power | We Hardly Knew Ye is a death/character exit trope, it needs examples of characters that are killed off or otherwise taken out early.

* AerithAndBob: humans are the Bob, while the Elves are the Aerith. So you'd get perfectly normal sounding names like Emily, Alyson, Max, Trisha, mashed with names like Trellis, Riva, Loni, and Gabilan. Although on occasion the Elves have a MeaningfulName. Either way, it drives home on how foreign in comparison the Elves are.

* LooksLikeOrlok: most of the Elven soldiers, although they don't have a bat theme.

* StoryBreakerPower: Trellis's ''overly-powered barrier'', for goodness sake. It's so durable that it survives a ''high altitude'' impact that pretty much destroys a large surface with Trellis who doesn't even look strained. Heck, it can even be used as an improvised ''submarine'' to escape [[spoiler: the Nexus]].

What An Idiot is YMMV, and these examples clearly ignore the in-story reasons that the characters behaved this way (Trellis hates his father and couldn't play along anymore, cared about Luger even if he couldn't remember why and so wouldn't abandon him, and Emily was upset and didn't want to lose her friends.) | Public Executions are not shown in-story so this is more speculative than anything

* WhatAnIdiot: a few instances
** Trellis straight up betrays his father in front of him instead of playing along to be able to have a headstart to escape his clutches. ''Then'' decides to go into a town to get food and clothes for Luger who is weak and would clearly hold him back but does it anyway despite the risks. Guess who gets caught a few hours later?
** Miskit and Cogsley got caught by a wyvern and Emily tries to pursue after them, ''thousands of feet up in the air'', jumping off the airship anyway, expecting her unpracticed stonepower to support her. Would've crossed into TooDumbToLive territory if it weren't for Trellis's timely interference.

* TeeteringOnTheEdge: In the beginning saga, Emily's father's DeathByOriginStory happens this way. The family is driving home at night along a cliffside highway when they have to swerve to avoid a stalled car, and their vehicle slides down a snowy embankment before coming to rest at the edge of the cliff against a dead tree that soon begins to break. Emily and her mother are able to climb out to safety, but her father's legs are trapped under the dash, and he plummets to his death with the car.
