* AuthorityGrantsAsskicking: Slightly subverted in that, while she is ridiculously powerful in raw strength, [[DumbMuscle she has little to no tact or strategy and relies on overwhelming her opponents.]] Most of the time, however, [[SuperpowerLottery her arrogance is justified]].

* DeliberateValuesDissonance: Linne's social and political views are a garbled mess of what a modern pre-teen Japanese girl would think and what an elderly woman from hundreds of years ago would consider normal. This frequently causes her to be confused and act strangely, which makes people who don't know what she really is view her as a bit of a {{Cloudcuckoolander}}. Mostly this comes from her living through a long history of warrior culture who isn't used to a peaceful world and [[TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody her mentality receiving a slight reset every time she reincarnates into a girl's body]].
** Being from ancient Japan, Linne doesn't understand why modern society does not marry off very young girls anymore. She does give Waldstein an educated guess at the processes that may have led society to view it as wrong but even then she still doesn't understand the reason why it's illegal now, though Linne herself is against the idea of getting herself married anyway.

* HugeGuyTinyGirl: With Waldstein.
* HypocriticalHumor: [[spoiler: Her calling Hyde stupid for going into Hilda's mansion just because Kuon told him to is a lot funnier when you remember that she did the exact same thing for a much more pathetic reason and almost got killed for it, ''because she was hungry and saw the buffet at Hilda's party.'' Just like Linne later does to Hyde, Waldstein gets extremely pissed that she did something so LethallyStupid for such a dumb reason.]]

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Centuries of aimless wandering while constantly shifting through bodies has left Linne quite bitter and bad-tempered, and she can be quite mean to Hyde when his inexperience shows. That said, she's still far from a bad person, and wants to permanently erase her own existence so that she can stop robbing little girls of their bodies.

* SanitySlippage: Whether it is due to his constant need to fight or the effects of the Final Night and the massive influx of EXS, Carmine's mental condition going into the Final Night is bordering what Hilda was going through during the first big Hollow Night.

* Really700YearsOld: Waldstein is unable to die from natural causes due to his body. However, he can still be killed through normal means, and example being when [[spoiler: Enkidu almost killed him in their duel near the end of the former's Arcade story.]]

* TheOneThatGotAway: He's this to Adelheid, who really didn't take his defection to the Night Blade after the Licht Kreis war very well. She's still waiting for him to see her again to fulfill a promise that they made in the past.

* HateSink: Hilda is basically a prima donna on a ''massive'' power trip trying to use the Abyss to hoard even more power for herself. While the other characters' Arcade and Chronicle chapters go the extra mile to establish their motives, Hilda's only seem to establish what a monster she truly is under her beautiful exterior.
* HatedByAll: The reason she's either the FinalBoss or ClimaxBoss of every character's Arcade story besides Enkidu's, Londrekia's, and her own; nobody wants to see her as a Re-Birth. It's been suggested that not even her own allies within Amnesia seem to like her that much or fully agree with her plan, and most of them have other reasons to be in the organization besides genuine loyalty to her.

* {{Jerkass}}: More than just being a power-hungry antagonist, Hilda is also just a straight-up bitch. She acts very smug and demeaning towards pretty much everyone, and tries to take advantage of Gordeau's complicated feelings surrounding Roger's death to sway him into doing her bidding, and in one arcade route leaves him bleeding out on the floor and attacks Chaos when he tries to help him. She gets into fights with people that aren't even aware of who she is simply because of how much a condescending bitch she is.
