In other words, she claims that she fights for magic's freedom against the tyranny of prejudiced mortals, yet her FaceHeelTurn [[YouAreWhatYouHate turned her into a prejudiced tyrant herself]]. Morgana herself realizes how foolish she was when the Arcane Order resurrects her the second time]].
* IHaveManyNames: Invoked. Argante. Lady Pale. Baba Yaga. Eldritch Queen. She has many names.
* LightIsNotGood: One of her titles is Pale Lady and her true appearance seems to be a living flame. [[spoiler:Her actual truest form is a lady clad in golden armor with no aesthetically "dark" characteristics. In fact, her golden magic often contrasts with Claire's purple one]].
* MadeOfMagic: [[spoiler:Her left arm was a key ingredient in the creation of the Amulet of Daylight.]]
* MagicEater: She was able to absorb most of Merlin’s magic in the process of her imprisonment and later siphons the power of the Staff of Avalon before he could use it against her.
* MisplacedRetribution: [[spoiler:Bellroc killed Arthur ''right in front of Morgana'']], yet the latter decides to blame Merlin for [[spoiler:her brother's death]], extends her hatred of Merlin to his Trollhunters, and cover the entire world in her Eternal Night so everyone could "feel [her] agony". [[spoiler:After her resurrection from the Shadow Realm, she came to realize how ''foolish'' her blind hatred towards Merlin was and realized too late it was the Arcane Order who caused her so much pain, and eventually, an undead Arthur himself]].
* NearVillainVictory: Would've succeeded in killing the Trollhunters and her Eternal Night would've reached full strength if it weren't for [[spoiler:Angor Rot's HeelFaceTurn]].

Truth be told, it was her fault for trusting the Arcane Order which would lead to her brother's death, just when he's on the brink of redemption on his part.]]

* RedemptionDemotion: [[spoiler:She's much less powerful when she's brought BackFromTheDead by the Arcane Order the second time around. By that time, she does not share the Order's ideals anymore and just wants to rest forever already. * RedRightHand: Her left hand is green since we know [[spoiler:[[AnArmAndALeg her left hand]] was used to make the amulet, her hand replaced with a [[ArtificialLimbs magic construct]] as a gift of good faith from [[GreenThumb Nari]] and the Arcane Order]].
* RuleOfSymbolism: Morgana losing her left hand [[spoiler:to Arthur]] might be a reference to the generic term, the Left-Hand Path, which often refers to those who practice the dark arts, like herself. She believed more in her strength and sorcery rather than miracles, such as when Douxie and Claire tried to help her make amends with Arthur, [[spoiler:only to steer her more into darkness. After the death of Arthur, Morgana was bent on ruling the world with selfish supremacy so that everyone, humans and magics alike, could "feel [her] agony". However, at best, she truly believed that she could form her own destiny, but lost sight of how]].
** At the end, Morgana completely loses her prosthetic left hand while [[spoiler:stripping Arthur of Excalibur. This could symbolize Morgana seeing the error of her ways, just before she sacrifices herself to end her undead brother's reign once and for all.]]

** She's sealed in a massive crystal, though her mind can wander to places of sufficient power.
** [[spoiler:In the series finale, Blinky, AAARRRGGHH!!! and Toby rescue Claire from Morgana after Toby destroys the Shadow Staff, thus resulting in the witch being trapped in the shadows.]]
* SympathyForTheDevil: [[spoiler:Despite all the horrible deeds she's done, Claire and Douxie can't help but feel sorry for Morgana in the past and why she became the WickedWitch in the future.]]
* SpeakOfTheDevil: Troll lore believes that her real name "Morgana" is cursed, thus they would prefer to use her many titles, such as "The Pale Lady." It is not until Usurna says her true name multiple times that she starts hearing her voice from the record player. Morgana frequently tells people to "call to me" and that "I will return."
* StartOfDarkness: ''Wizards'' ultimately shows how Morgana became Merlin's most accomplished student to a vile sorceress bent on humanity's destruction and helping Gunmar bring for the Eternal Night.
* TakeOverTheWorld: Morgana outright tells Angor that the world will belong to her after the Eternal Night takes place, though [[spoiler:the events shown in ''Wizards'' seem to imply that she wants to rule over trollkind as a benevolent queen following her genocide on mankind]].
* ATasteOfTheirOwnMedicine: In ''Trollhunters'', Morgana resurrects Angor Rot - a troll to who she bestowed magic power - in exchange for his never-ending servitude - and more or less forces him to continue serving her against his will, leading to a HeelFaceTurn since his soul is within him again. [[spoiler:In ''Wizards'', the wizards who gave her her unimaginable power Bellroc and Skrael resurrects her from her peaceful inexistence in the Shadow Realm back into serving them, their manipulations of her and her brother Arthur causing her to betray them in-kind.]]
* TragicVillain: What Morgana is proven to be in ''Wizards'', [[spoiler:even more so than Arthur.]] She truly meant well in the beginning and helped Claire and Douxie buy time for a transformed Jim to escape from her brother. [[spoiler:Then her little brother Arthur dies, and it goes downhill from there]].
* UnwantedRevival: [[spoiler:Is ''not'' happy when Bellroc and Skrael revive her with the Amulet in ''Wizards'', since she was at peace in the Shadow Realm, begging them to return her to her rest]].
* VillainHasAPoint:
** While dueling Arthur after her FaceHeelTurn, she rightfully calls him out for outlawing and executing those related to magic (mainly trolls and wizards), [[{{Hypocrite}} yet he fights with an enchanted sword and only tolerates wizards only if they're under his watch]].
** Her frustrations towards Merlin are somewhat justified as she repeatedly calls her master out for playing the LongGame for ''too'' long, allowing Arthur to be consumed by his arrogance and prejudice. So, in context, ''Merlin'' is the reason why Arthur jaded into a prejudiced tyrant and [[spoiler:a loyal enforcer to the Arcane Order]] on his own accords. [[spoiler:Merlin came to [[JerkassRealization realize]] Morgana was right all along, but too late as it ironically costs him his life at the hands of the very same king he blindly followed]].
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Despite Merlin claiming in ''Trollhunters'' that she's only there because she was craving chaos, ''Wizards'' shows that Morgana truly meant well for trollkind, as she helped rescue the trolls from the dungeons in Camelot and consistently tried to stop Arthur's prejudice. This explains why she wanted to unleash the Eternal Night upon the Earth as it would've blocked out the sun so trolls can thrive, and also why she saw killing several Gumm-Gumms as a sacrifice. Additionally, even though she had Gunmar as a servant, who otherwise sees both trolls and humans as inferior, Morgana explains to Angor that she was just using Gunmar as a pawn and was going to kill him once [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness he was no longer necessary for her plans]].
* WickedWitch: In ''Trollhunters'', Morgana was clearly evil to the heroes and possessed great magic which helped Gunmar begin the Eternal Night. In ''Wizards'', however, she began as a benevolent yet paranoid sorceress before JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope.
* WouldHurtAChild: First, she possesses Claire, practically torturing her. Then she tries to force Claire to kill her boyfriend, Jim, who is 16 years old. In addition, she also holds Claire in the Shadow Realm forever and tries to kill Jim in his half-troll form. She also attacks Toby unprovoked when he tries to introduce himself to her.
* WreathedInFlames: [[spoiler:She first manifests looking like a human woman with [[GlowingEyesOfDoom glowing eyes]] and on fire]].
* YouAreWhatYouHate: Morgana despised King Arthur's prejudiced tyranny against magical creatures and wished to fight for magics. However, her JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope turned her into a prejudiced tyrant herself, only hating all of humanity in general, as well as magical creatures who fight for them. She even assassinated countless Trollhunters through Angor Rot just because of their "allegiance" with Merlin. [[spoiler:However, during her time in the Shadow Realm, she reflected on all of her actions and what she had become when she endangered not only humanity, but other magical creatures with her Eternal Night, and even treated her own "kind" as pawns, including Angor Rot and Gunmar. She realized that her own prejudice against mortals turned her into a tyrant, just like her brother.]]
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Plans on disposing of Gunmar and probably the other Gumm-Gumms once their conquest of the surface is complete.
* YourSoulIsMine: She outright invokes this trope after she bestowed Angor Rot great magical power like he asked, unwittingly in exchange for his own soul, imprisoning it within the Inferna Copula.
