!Bose Region

[[folder:Mayor Maybelle]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mayor_maybelle_fc_evo.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/IbukiKido (Japanese)
-->'''Appearances''': ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsInTheSky FC]]'' | ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsInTheSky SC]]'' | ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsInTheSky The 3rd]]''

The mayor of the Bose region, noted for her dedication to her job and her city. She took over the job when her father died and, despite initial misgivings from some of the townsfolk about the mayoralty being handed to one so young, she has performed with aplomb and is now widely respected and adored by Bose's citizenry.
----
* AmbiguouslyGay: She deeply cares about Lila to the point of expressing significant jealousy when she believes Lita is planning on getting married (and later relief when she finds out it isn't true)
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Estelle, Joshua, and Schera arrive at her home to conduct a meeting, only to find her in the marketplace, soundly chewing out a pair of merchants trying to take advantage of the local economy. After giving them an earful, she politely dismisses them and goes back to have a calm, reasonable discussion with the Bracers.
* MarriedToTheJob: More-so than any other mayor in the game, to the point where even random townsfolk are worried she's working herself to exhaustion. Notably, she routinely skips out on church service (instead sending Lila to pray on behalf of both of them) so she can conduct inspections at the market.
* TheOjou: Naturally, as the closest to an inherited ruler of the region.
* OjouRinglets: Subtle, but there.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: In spite of her occasionally stubborn behavior in getting her job done, she's the most responsible mayor in Liberl.
* {{Tomboy}}: According to Lila, she was one in her youth.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Eri Yamazaki (Japanese)
-->'''Appearances''': ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsInTheSky FC]]'' | ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsInTheSky SC]]'' | ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsInTheSky The 3rd]]''

Mayor Maybelle's trusty and ever-present maid. She tends to the more mundane aspects of Maybelle's life, such as running errands and making sure the meals are prepared on time, and also serves as the mayor's close friend and confidante. She is also not above scolding Maybelle for skipping out on church service or otherwise indulging her workaholic tendencies, much to Maybelle's consternation.
----
* BrokenBird: At first, Lila appears to simply be TheStoic, but SC reveals that [[spoiler: she suffered greatly when she lost her parents to the Erebonian ambush. If her picture is anything to go by, she used to be a much more emotionally-normal girl.]]
* DivingSave: [[spoiler: Shoves Maybelle out of the way of some falling debris when the dragon attacks Bose, and is subsequently buried under a large piece of the roof. Fortunately, she pulls through.]]
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler: Unbeknownst to most, "Lila" is actually Raini, an immigrant from a far-off nation. During the Hundred Days War, Raini - then just a child - and her parents were visiting Bose when the Erebonian Empire attacked. Raini's parents were killed and a severely traumatized Raini was taken in by Maybelle's father, who gave her the name "Lila" when she couldn't give her own name due to the shock of losing her family.]]
* DumbStruck: [[spoiler: When Lila was first rescued by Maybelle's father, she could barely speak. Eventually they had to give her a new name, simply because they couldn't get her to tell them her old one.]]
* EmotionlessGirl: Doesn't have very broad range of expression.
* EyesAlwaysShut: For the most part. With a single exception, when they are opened they are still only half-open.
* HappilyAdopted: [[spoiler:After losing her parents during the 100 days war, she was adopted into Maybelle's family.]]
* {{Meido}}: To go along with her {{Ojou}} employer.
* NotSoStoic: When you show her [[spoiler: a picture of her younger self]], she briefly adopts a stunned expression with her eyes wide before recomposing herself. This is the only time you see her without her usual EyesAlwaysShut expression.
* SingleTargetSexuality: She's outright claimed that the most important thing her life is Maybelle, period.
* ThatWomanIsDead: [[spoiler: When confronted about her past, Lila insists that "Raini" died with her parents.]]
* UndyingLoyalty: To Maybelle.

The President of the Student Council at Jenis and Kloe's best friend and roommate.
----
* EvilGenius: Self-described.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Has some moments of this in the third game, where she unknowingly insults Kloe by pitying the orphans and painting her to be a straight-laced "good girl" student. This is [[InformedAbility apparently]] a major frustration for her, as she feels terrible about it afterwards and Hans mentions that she has lost friends because of it in the past.
* {{Meganekko}}: Overlaps with ScaryShinyGlasses on occasion.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Hans. They apparently have known each other for some time, and she uses him as a confidante and a grounding rod, but there's no hint of romance between the two.
* ScaryShinyGlasses: When she enters her YaoiFangirl mode. The effect is... unsettling, to say the least.
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler:She knows Kloe is a princess.]]
* StudentCouncilPresident: She's the president, having inherited the position from slack-happy Lechter. She takes it seriously but isn't above [[ItAmusedMe having some fun with her authority]] either.
* YaoiFangirl: She displays an unhealthy fixation on seeing Joshua in his princess dress whenever she gets the chance.

The Vice-Present of the Student Council during Kloe's first year, who later became a researcher for the Seiland Medical Equipment Company in her home country of Leman. [[VideoGame/ZeroNoKiseki Dr. Seiland]] is her aunt.
----
* TheBusCameBack: Reappears in ''Cold Steel IV'', accompanying the monarch of Remiferia and she's [[spoiler:still berating on Lechter.]]
* ObliviousToLove: She doesn't seem to notice Hans's crush on her.
* {{Tsundere}}: She's strict towards Lechter due to his lazy and whimsical behavior, but she does seem to feel bad about being too harsh on him at times.

[[/folder]]

A gang of delinquents in Ruan.
----
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:In ''FC'', in order to frame them for the burning of the Mercia Orphanage.]]
* JapaneseDelinquents: Seem partially based on this trope.
* JokeCharacter: [[spoiler:The three leaders are playable in one segment of ''The 3rd'', where they take the final exam to become Junior Bracers. And they have to fight their former leader, ''Agate''.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: They were never really villains, just a bunch of punks, but in ''SC'', [[spoiler:they were a big help in Ruan when all the Orbal power was cut off. By the time of ''The 3rd'', the three leaders have become Junior Bracers.]]
* TheLeader: The three listed all seem to lead the Ravens, but Rocco in particular seems take charge the most.
* LethalJokeCharacter: Downplayed on the lethal part. Their stats are crap, they have no orbments, and they don't have an S-Craft, but they do have a skill that lowers a target's defense to 0. Given how the damage formula works, this allows them to deal decent damage if the target isn't immune to DEF down.
* TookALevelInBadass: As Estelle points out, they do get stronger each time she fights them, [[spoiler:and in ''The 3rd'', they've managed to become Junior Bracers, which is stated to take more than just combat ability]].

----

* TheCorrupter: He passed his obsession with status to his assistant, Gilbert.
* FedToTheBeast: [[spoiler:Keeps two monsters called Fango and Bronco in a hidden room, and lets them out to dispose of the heroes as well as Dunan, Phillip and Nial for [[HeKnowsTooMuch knowing too much.]]]]
* HazyFeelTurn: [[spoiler:In ''SC'', he's running a Sepith shop, but it's implied he's using illegal channels to maintain his stock.]]

Tita's grandfather and a renowned scientist, he is one of the fathers of the Orbal Revolution.
----
* AbsentMindedProfessor: Mildly. He has a tendency to become too engrossed in his work to [[FailedASpotCheck notice people around him]], resulting in at least one instance of him bumping into visitors before roping them into his experiments, only realising who they are one the experiment's finished.
* EinsteinHair: As befits any aging inventor.
* GadgeteerGenius
* MadScientist: In a way. He's still a good guy, though.
* MrFixit: The only character to outstrip Tita in this role.
* TechnoBabble: He is Tita's grandfather, after all. Though he is a bit better at reining it in.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/SatsukiYukino (Japanese)
-->'''Appearances''': ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsInTheSky The 3rd]]'' | ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesHajimariNoKiseki Hajimari]]''

Tita's mother and Professor Russell's daughter.
----
* BitchInSheepsClothing: She isn't a bad person, but she can be quite rude and bitchy when she's in a bad mood. Despite that and her age of 33, she looks positively cute.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: She's completely obsessed with cute things (especially her daughter) and has a number of childish quirks (such as the Success Dance she does before every big experiment), but as a researcher and inventor, she's every last bit as talented and skilled as her father.
* TheBusCameBack: After not being seen since her debut, she makes a return in ''Hajimari''.
* CallingTheOldManOut: With an old man [[WellDoneSonGuy like that]] it's no surprise that they just can't get along.
* FanGirl: Of Lieutenant Julia Schwarz, machines and [[CutenessProximity everything that's cute]].
* GadgeteerGenius: Like father, like daughter.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: She really isn't happy about the [[PrecociousCrush close relationship]] between Agate and her daughter.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: Her husband is about two heads taller than her.
* MamaBear: To Tita. Unfortunately, the target of her wrath ends up being Agate.
* NunTooHoly: She apparently wanted to be a sister of the church when she was a child; the local priest very pointedly explained that her personality was pretty much the polar opposite of what they were looking for.
* OlderThanTheyLook: She's 33 and yet she still looks young and beautiful.
* SayingSoundEffectsOutLoud: Whenever she's particularly excited for a new experiment (especially if she's planning on using it on Agate). ZOOOOOOOOM!

[[folder:Dan Russell]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TakeshiKusao (Japanese)

----
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:He saves Tita and Agate from the malfunctioning Orbal Gear.]]
* TheMentor: He taught the art of staff fighting to Cassius.
* OverprotectiveDad: Downplayed compared to his wife. He isn't too happy with Tita's interest in Agate, but he's polite and professional about it.
* RetiredBadass: Erika mentions that he used to be a bracer before Cassius joined.
* SimpleStaff: Uses a bo staff like Estelle and Cassius.
* UglyGuyHotWife: Downplayed; he's very generic-looking compared to his wife.
* TheUnfought: His duel with Agate is interrupted by the Orbal Gear going haywire.

* CameraFiend: She'll find pretty much any excuse to snap a picture.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Her thought process is a little out there.
* CuteClumsyGirl: She has a bad habit of breaking things, to the point that when Nial sees her get off an airship in Kevin's company he immediately worries about what priceless work of Church art Dorothy must have destroyed that he'll have to pay for.

* TheLeader: While Kyle's the most levelheaded and Josette's the first to dive into action, Don's the one calling the shots with the crew.

The youngest Capua sibling and the only girl of the group. Early on, she disguises herself as a student from Jenis to commit a burglary in Mayor Klaus' house. Has a crush on Joshua and quickly forms a rivalry with Estelle.
----
* ACupAngst: In ''The 3rd'' she tells Schera to stay away from Joshua with her "bombastic boobs" and complaining that she's dressed to show them off, before muttering to herself that life's not fair.
* {{Bokukko}}: In the Japanese script, which is lampshaded by how Estelle usually calls her this in lieu of her name[[note]]The English translations just stick with Estelle calling Josette "Tomboy"[[/note]].
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Subverted. She appears like this at first, with Joshua immediately catching on to the fact that her identity as a Jenis student was a fake, and she later becomes involved in some genuinely reprehensible schemes cooked up by Don Capua. However, once the Don goes too far even for her, and is revealed to have been brainwashed all along, she becomes a decidedly more heroic character while retaining her abrasiveness [[spoiler:(which is ''also'' gone by the time of her reappearance in ''Cold Steel III'')]]
* TheBusCameBack: To the surprise of many, a [[ShesAllGrownUp grown up]] Josette makes an appearance in ''Cold Steel III'' in an event, where she meets up with [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsOfColdSteel Rean Schwarzer.]]
* ButtMonkey: Poor Josette. She's the HopelessSuitor who has trouble acknowledging that she never stood a chance or that even without Estelle, there's still someone else closer to Joshua than she is. Then there's her [[ImpoverishedPatrician whole backstory]] which she hasn't dealt with all that well.
* TheCameo: In ''Cold Steel III'', where she makes several brief appearances [[spoiler: and even helps out in the final chapter when the cryptids start rampaging through the streets of Erebonia.]]
* CantCatchUp: by the time she joins the party near the end of ''SC'', her equipment, stats, and Orbment is severely outdated. Her Orbal gun does ScratchDamage, and her Slots haven't been upgraded, let alone the new and stronger Slots the party has access to at endgame.
* ChildhoodFriends: It's revealed in ''Cold Steel III'' that she's this with Ferris as her family was well acquainted with the Florald family prior to the Capua's fall from grace. It's also revealed that she once met Alisa as a child and even played with her for a while when her brothers were doing the negotiations for their future airship, the Bobcat.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She's very attached to Joshua and is quick to suspect any girl around him to be getting in the way. Sadly for Josette, she's not on any firmer ground when it comes to her romantic aspirations.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Gets a starring role in Sun Door 1 as she fights off with Gilbert during one of their delivery runs.
* DontYouDarePityMe: Has this reaction whenever Estelle voices sympathy for her situation.
* EleventhHourRanger: In SC. She becomes a full party member in The 3rd.
* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: Her relationship with Joshua. It takes her longer to accept than it did Kloe.
* FallenPrincess: Her family was once counted among the Erebonian aristocracy before their fortunes were lost in a bad business deal. Josette didn't take it well. In a bit of FridgeBrilliance, this explains why she was so easily able to fool everyone in Rolent. Pretending to be a student at the prestigious school was as close as she's ever been to the girl she once was.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: VERY important for one of the themes. [[spoiler: Everyone has secrets, and nobody is exactly what they seem. This foreshadows Weissman, Joshua, etc.]]
* TheGogglesDoNothing: She wears a pair around her neck. Theoretically they would be useful when running around on an exposed airship deck but she never uses them on-screen.
* GrenadeSpam: Orbal Bomb has her toss a whole bunch of the things at once.
* GunsAkimbo: She lets out a second orbal gun during her Stampede craft.
* HiddenDepths: For all her tomboy habits, she's shown to be skilled at a number of more feminine aspects. She enforces a cleanliness policy aboard the Bobcat that no one crosses her on, and is mentioned to be in charge of the group's cooking, laundry, and bookkeeping (she even bonds with Kloe over a shared love of baking sweets in ''The 3rd''). Finally, she's shown to be skilled at nursing sick or injured people, to the point where Joshua and Kloe both compliment her skills in this area.
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: Josette tries very, very hard to convince everyone around her that she's capable and strong, even in situations where she's outmatched and emotionally vulnerable.
* LimitBreak: In ''SC'' and ''The 3rd'', her S-Craft is "Bobcat"[[note]]"Wild Cat"[[/note]]
* MasterOfNone: Statistically one of the worst characters in The 3rd across the board, even underperforming when compared to the DumpStat of some highly-specialized characters. Her one real point of value is her extremely useful Remote Ability which increases the Sepith and item drop percentages... and that rewards you for ''not'' having her in your party.
* NiceHat: She sports a visor in The 3rd and blushes when Joshua tells her it looks good on her.
* NonstandardSkillLearning: Compounding her MasterOfNone status, her S-Crafts are exclusively learned through story progression. Hours before the FinalBoss of ''SC'', Josette doesn't even have an S-Craft! It is only gotten after her mandatory status as a party member is revoked. In ''the 3rd'', she has to relearn it again after finishing Sun Door 1, and doesn't get an upgrade until you've beaten Kyle and Don late in the game.
* NotSoDifferent: Several characters note that for all their bickering, Estelle and Josette have more in common than they'd care to admit. In fact, their similarities are why they clash so often.
* OddFriendship: Would you believe Josette and Kloe of all people share a lot of hobbies? They get along surprisingly well in ''the 3rd'', and even look forward to meeting back in Grancel when Josette's business takes her there.
* ThePromise: before [[spoiler:Joshua makes his assault on the Glorious]], Josette begs Joshua to come back alive, and offers him a place on the ship if he does. Joshua, naturally, can't make that promise, but is clearly touched.
* SourOutsideSadInside: behind the many, many layers of toughness she projects, occasionally Josette shows that a part of her still hasn't recovered from her former status as a noble.
* ThrowTheDogABone: Her Sun Door 1 event throws her a lot of bones. At first, it looks like Joshua's letter to her was accidentally sent to one of the Capua family's clients, causing her to lash out at Don. Then she and her brothers are attacked by Gilbert and a large group of Ouroboros's Archaisms. Fortunately, the Bobcat proceeds to shoot them all down and Josette makes up with Don. To top things off, one of the crew members found the letter still on the Bobcat.
* {{Tomboy}}: Adopts a more extreme attitude than Estelle does, with BoyishShortHair, a confrontational mindset, a hard-edged manner of speaking, and even uses a masculine personal pronoun in Japanese. [[spoiler:It's mostly put-on since she's been forced to take up piracy ever since the loss of her family's fortune.]]
* {{Tsundere}}: to the extent that she's in tsun mode 95% of the time, and her dere moments are few and far between. In SC, she bickers with Joshua during his alliance with the Capuas, especially when he shows little regard for his life, but is clearly worried for his safety and even invites him to join the Capuas for real. This doesn't go unnoticed by Estelle.
* VideoGameStealing: Her Plunder Craft in ''the 3rd'' gives her the unique ability to try and steal an enemy's item.
* VolleyingInsults: Whenever she and Estelle are in the same screen, this is expected.

* OjouRinglets: Subtle, but there.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: In spite of her occasionally stubborn behavior in getting her job done, she's the most responsible mayor in Liberl.

Mayor Maybelle's trusty and ever-present maid. She tends to the more mundane aspects of Maybelle's life, such as running errands and making sure the meals are prepared on time, and also serves as the mayor's close friend and confidante. * IntrepidReporter: You'll encounter him everywhere in Liberl, always on the lookout for the next big scoop. [[spoiler:He even joins the cast on the Arseille to chronicle the investigation of Liber Ark firsthand.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Grumpy he may be, but Nial is shown to genuinely care about Dorothy and is also willing to risk his life for his job.
* KnowledgeBroker: Tends to trade information with the heroes, although usually he's on the receiving end due to being desperate for a scoop.
* {{Paparazzi}}: He's not above trying to get Dorothy to snap a "sexy" picture of Mayor Maybelle to attract readers.
* PermaStubble: Like Zin, Nial doesn't seem to shave that often.

----
* BlindingCameraFlash: When she's an NPC party member, she'll sometimes take pictures of the enemy and inflict Blind. She also does this in-story at one point, unwittingly saving the party by [[spoiler:dispelling Bleublanc's ShadowPin]].

* MeaningfulName: Don is presumably his given name, and it's [[TheDon obviously fitting]] for a bandit leader.
* MightyGlacier: He's slower than his family members, but he wields an orbal cannon and has the STR to back it up.

* LimitBreak: In ''SC'' and ''The 3rd'', her S-Craft is "Bobcat"[[note]]"Wild Cat"[[/note]]
