* CantCatchUp: Her manipulation skills are top-notch, but her over-reliance on having [[CrutchCharacter strong allies]] do the dirty work means many of her own skills don't grow as fast as they could, leading to Aguero outperforming her as a Light Bearer when they face each other in the Hell Train arc. The {{Irony}} there is... she performed pretty much at Aguero's level as a Light Bearer when they started out, with whole a lot less practice under her belt (like Baam, the Tower was, for her, an eye-opener of new experiences). Which argues that her native skill would actually be well above average, if she bothered to hone and exercise it.

The Hero of ''Webcomic/TowerOfGod'', 25th Baam is unusual to the Tower in that he opened the door himself, thus making him an Irregular, who are universally feared throughout the Tower as being ultra powerful monsters who almost always bring great calamity within the Tower. He's also considered borderline crazy because he values his friends over his own desire to climb the Tower, and is thus quickly deemed dangerous by Floor of Test Supervisor Yu Han Sung, and those in the Zahard Family. His one true desire however, is to be with Rachel, who freed Baam from being stuck in a dark prison outside the Tower, and kept him from truly being lonely due to the time the two spent together until they were forced to split when they were both summoned into the Tower.

Following his arrival into the Tower, Baam forms a team with Koon and Rak to go about completing the tests offered by the Floor of Tests, and become his truest, and most loyal, companions. He befriends many Regulars along the way, and is eventually able to reunite with Rachel. However, a crippling injury to Rachel causes her to be deemed to fail the 2nd Floor, and kicked out of the Tower for good; forcing Baam to take a special test that would allow for him to take an exceptionally tough final test in order to help Rachel pass. [[spoiler:Sadly, Rachel betrays Baam at the last second, and pushes Baam to fall into a dark abyss where he is forced into following a different, much darker, path to continue climbing the Tower]].

Rachel, who freed Baam from being stuck in a dark prison outside the Tower, and kept him from truly being lonely due to the time the two spent together until they were forced to split when they were both summoned into the Tower.

Following his arrival into the Tower, Baam forms a team with Koon and Rak to go about completing the tests offered by the Floor of Tests, and become his truest, and most loyal, companions.
He now befriends many Regulars along the way, and is part eventually able to reunite with Rachel. However, a crippling injury to Rachel causes her to be deemed to fail the 2nd Floor, and kicked out of the criminal organization FUG Tower for good; forcing Baam to take a special test that would allow for him to take an exceptionally tough final test in order to help Rachel pass. [[spoiler:Sadly, Rachel betrays Baam at the last second, and has adopted pushes Baam to fall into a dark abyss where he is forced into following a different, much darker, path to continue climbing the family name of Grace, leader of FUG]].Tower]].

For more information on Baam, go down for his character description during the second season.

Added DiffLines:

After the 5-year timeskip, Baam reappears in front of Ja Wangnan, and sort of teams up with him during the 20th Floor test to become E-Rank Regulars. Afterwards, Baam, Wangnan, and several others, go about creating Team Tangsooyook after completing said test in order to continue climbing the Tower. It then turns out that Baam is now a part of the criminal organization, FUG, and has adopted the family name of Grace, as Jyu Viole Grace, leader of FUG.

Viole is ordered by FUG to take part in the Workshop Battle in order to acquire a thorn-like ignition weapon that had been developed by the researchers of Workshop. [[spoiler:FUG had actually been trying to kill off Viole by combining him with the thorn so that FUG could use Viole's Irregular status, and the power of the thorn, to use against Zahard. However, due to intervention from Hwa Ryun, Viole is able to break away from FUG with the thorn at hand to forge a new path]].

Following the Workshop Battle, Viole reestablishes himself as 25th Baam, and continues to climb the Tower as a D-Rank. Upon learning that Rachel is planning something big on the Hell Train, Baam creates a Hell Train team of his own to board the express, and finds out that Rachel plans to free a dangerous foe, [[spoiler:the Slayer-Candidate known as White]], who Baam is forced to duel against. While on the express, Baam is also brought to the God of Guardians' Rice Pot where Baam is to be transformed by the God's "revolution" in order for Baam to find his true self.

[[caption-width-right:297:Note that Baam went back to his original appearance after the Workshop Battle]]

The Hero of ''Webcomic/TowerOfGod'', Baam is unusual in the Tower in that he opened the door himself, thus making him an Irregular, who are universally feared throughout the Tower as being ultra powerful monsters who almost always bring great calamity within the Tower. He is also considered unusual and borderline crazy because he values his friends over his own desire to climb the Tower, and is thus quickly deemed dangerous. [[spoiler: After the timeskip, he reappears in front of Ja Wangnan, and sort of teams up with him. He now is part of the criminal organization FUG and has adopted the family name of Grace, leader of FUG]].
-----

* AllLovingHero: In the competitive, back-stabbing world of the Tower, Baam genuinely wants to help others.
* BadassNormal: Subverted. He appears this way at first, but eventually it's shown he's an innate genius at Shinsoo manipulation.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Baam's a nice guy... [[spoiler: just don't hurt his friends.]]
* {{Bishonen}}: If [[CovertPervert Yuri]] and [[AllGirlsWantBadBoys Yeons]] observations of Baam are to be considered, Baam is quite the looker (''especially'' when he had long hair).
* BreakTheCutie: Though he isn't broken, the whole thing with Ho did bring him pretty close to snapping, and he laments the constant infighting between Regulars. Even when everybody says it's the most normal, logical thing to happen. And then [[spoiler: Rachel happened, and this is only the beginning.]] Now that he has [[spoiler: been ripped away from his new friends and forced to fight against his old ones,]] he's coming very close to the breaking point.
** [[spoiler:After finally meeting Rachel since the infamous pushing incident, Baam finally broke after hearing her cold words. What came next was almost frightening...]]
* CallingYourAttacks: Totally averted. Baam never yells out what he's doing: the most you get is a handy label down the side of the action or a footnote.
** The only exception being sometimes when he copies a move, he'll call out the attacks as he makes them. Notably, this is why he doesn't use [[spoiler:[[PersonOfMassDestruction Urek Mazino]]'s [[MegatonPunch attacks]]]], which he DID copy--[[Funny/TowerOfGod because he feels the attack's name is extremely embarrassing.]]
* ChickMagnet: Yuri, Black March and Yeon are confirmed, along with Androssi who gets a lot of ShipTease. And according to SIU, Baam will cause many women to cry.
** Hwa Ryun is considered another candidate, with the Hell Train arc in particular focusing a lot on the strange amount of trust the two have for each other despite the whole "turning Baam into Viole" thing. Not to mention him going [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness pretty much ballistic]] when he learns what Reflejo had down to her during the Workshop Battle.
** Androssi's ShipTease becomes much less platonic once she starts reminding Baam of the date he supposedly promised her [[spoiler:once they are reunited in season 2.]] She even goes so far as to outright refer to him as ''her boyfriend'' when talking about him, although Hatsu says she's probably bluffing in this instance.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Baam is very nice guy, even if you are a stranger.
* {{Expy}}: He looks like [[DeadmanWonderland Ganta Igarashi]] and [[Manga/MiraiNikki Yukiteru Amano]]. Has none of eithers initial wimpiness.
* FriendlessBackground: Had absolutely ''no'' human contact until he met Rachel.
* TheGift: Being an Irregular, controlling Shinsoo almost instantly.
* GuileHero: Baam is definitely not stupid.
* TheHeart: One of the few idealists in the Tower, and the most dedicated of the cast to keeping everyone alive.
* HeroicNeutral: All Baam ever wants is to be left alone with his friends; he couldn't care less about Tower politics.
* ImmuneToFate: His status as an Irregular makes it so that [[{{Seers}} Guides]] are unable to predict what he will do, or what changes he can bring.
* InSeriesNickname: Called "Black Turtle" by Rak.
* MagneticHero: Becomes well liked and friendly with many of his fellows, so much so that they choose to help him out even when it means that they will be disadvantaged in the Tower. [[spoiler:Novick even specifically mentions this to Xia Xia, warning her that trying to manipulate him in the long run won't work because the people he attracts are too loyal to him.]]
** He's so endearing, [[spoiler: his mentors in FUG]] are beginning to question their motivations.
* MeaningfulName: Possibly. One translation of 'Baam' in Korean is 'night'. Can you think of another messianic figure who was born on the 25th night?
* MysteriousPast: Who or what Baam is, even he doesn't know. It's not even clear where he was initially, though it seems he was either in the Middle area of the Tower or outside it completely.
* NaiveNewcomer: Starts as this. [[BreakTheCutie It doesn’t last.]]
* NoSell: He's virtually immune to most Shinsoo attacks and Shinsoo in general. Only extremely powerful ones are capable of harming him.
* TheParalyzer: Quant briefly teaches him this in Season 1 (in the form of the technique "Fast Skip"), and it becomes Baam's first example of PowerCopying.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: As an Irregular, he's an immense threat to the Tower. By the time Season 2 rolls around, he's far above the other Regulars on his level in strength.
** This status is further reinforced after he gains the Thorn and uses its power.
* PowerCopying: This, coupled with his innate ability to control Shinsoo with ease, is his greatest combat strength. He's used several abilities that he learned from Rankers far more than they ever did, such as Blue Oar and Fast Skip. The only drawback is he lacks the power and general skill Rankers possess.
** InstantExpert: Not only will he immediately turn around techniques on people during a fight, but Baam also blends his techniques on the fly, making [[ConfusionFu him very adaptable and hard to read]].
* TechnicalPacifist: Though he dislikes enmity and fighting, he defends himself when attacked, he is prepared to kill in order to get to Rachel (though he is relieved when he doesn't have to) and later on, he mops the floor with everyone.
* TemporalThemeNaming / YouAreNumberSix: His name means literally "The 25th Night".
* TookALevelInBadass: Once he begins learning how to manipulate Shinsoo, he becomes a truly formidable fighter. [[spoiler: In only seven years, he's learned how to control 5 baangs of Shinsoo and is far above most of the Regulars on his Floor in strength.]]
* WideEyedIdealist: He absolutely hates the idea of fighting and harming and truly wants every to be friends.
** After [[spoiler: Rachel's betrayal]] and the 5 year time skip, he is still this, but is severely emotionally withdrawn because of [[spoiler: his TrainingFromHell]]

----
!Tropes that apply as of Season 2
!!Warning: Major Spoilers

* AgentPeacock: At the beginning of Part 2 his attire is simply fabulous.
* AGodIAmNot: Quite a few people refer to him as "my/our god" on account of his position as a Slayer candidate and an Irregular. Baam's reactions to this range from strong discomfort to violent retaliation, depending on who's addressing him.
* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: FUG gave him one after Rachel’s betrayal. If he didn’t join them and become a Slayer candidate, they would have killed all his friends.
* BadassAbnormal: Becoming [[spoiler: a living Ignition Weapon by merging with the Thorn]] massively has boosted his already impressive Shinsoo control and power, on top of being an Irregular. SIU has hinted that this, and not his nature as an Irregular, is the biggest reason for his power boost in Season 2.
* BadassBoast: Gives some during Part 2.
* BerserkButton: Hurting the people he trusts is a good way to set him off, just ask [[spoiler:Beta and Reflejo]].
--> "But if you play around with my friends' lives like this again- I will kill you all."
* BoxingLessonsForSuperman: Even after [[spoiler:getting the Thorn]], he spent a year after the Workshop to train at various dojos and combine their styles. As a result, he can keep up with new opponents without using much of [[spoiler:the Thorn's power]].
* BrokenAce: He’s good at pretty much everything, but suffers greatly because of Rachel’s betrayal and FUG’s threat to his friends’ lives.
* CardCarryingVillain: Mostly confined to the first arc of part 2, where he plays up his role as FUG's Slayer candidate to almost mustache curling levels in an attempt to scare away the competition. Pointed out by [[spoiler:Koon]], who says it's like [[LampshadeHanging he's reading out of a textbook for evil people]].
* DefectorFromDecadence: [[spoiler:Once the FUG faction Karaka belongs to reveals it has no intentions to play by its own rules, Baam ceases any pretense of willingness to work for FUG and immediately follows Koon's plans to leave them.]]
* ChasteHero: Seems to just not understand things related to romance or intimacy judging by his confusion about a date and how he was unaware how saying he isn't interested in a woman's body may offend them. Justified by his isolated life before entering the Tower.
* TheDreaded: As a Slayer candidate. ''Everyone'' is terrified of Jyu Viole Grace… [[NiceGuy up until they actually meet him, anyway.]] Even after he ditches FUG and reassumes his identity as Baam, many FUG members still refer to him as Viole due to his infamous potential as a Slayer.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: [[spoiler:The Thorn.]] After one year of training, he may use it once a day for ten minutes at most, else it will go out of control and turn him into a raging berserker that will kill anything around him.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Yihwa outright mistakes him for a female and invites him to bathe with her.
** Happens again with Novick and Ran, and them wondering how they never heard of an E-rank Regular with "her" skills.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: He becomes [[spoiler: a living Ignition Weapon]] as a result of FUG's plans.
* EnemyWithin: In the Rice Pot, Baam is tempted by the manifestation of his own power, who tries to exploit his hidden desire to NeverBeHurtAgain.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: He sports longer hair as an FUG. [[spoiler:And at the end of season 2, after he gets back with his friends, he cuts it.]]
* GoneHorriblyRight: During the Workshop Battle arc, [[spoiler: the plan to make him an Ignition Weapon]] ended up backfiring against [[spoiler: Karaka and signalled Baam's defection from FUG]].
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: When his recklessness gets a good number of his friends taken hostage by [[spoiler:the FUG-affiliated Hell Train conductor]], he realizes that his obsession with Rachel is making him just as selfish as her.
* HealingFactor: He heals almost instantaneously in flashes of red light. Even near-fatal injuries only put him out of commission for a few days. [[spoiler: This is apparently a function of being a living Ignition Weapon.]]
* HearingVoices: [[spoiler:The Thorn apparently speaks to him.]]
* HeroicRROD: [[spoiler:After that one incident of overusing the Thorn, he becomes very prone to passing out.]]
* ImportantHaircut: Gets one after [[spoiler: escaping FUG in the epilogue of Part 2, in which he cuts his RapunzelHair so it looks more like it did in part 1.]]
* KillTheGod: Is being developed by FUG as a Slayer, because as an Irregular he's the only person with the power to kill Zahard and change the Tower's system.
* KungFuWizard: In addition to his existing prowess with Shinsoo manipulation, he has become a master physical combatant during the timeskip.
* LivingMacGuffin: As an Irregular, FUG hopes to use him as a weapon to destroy the current power structure in the Tower.
** Doubly so due to his status as a [[spoiler:complete living Ignition Weapon, and obtaining the true Thorn.]]
* LonersAreFreaks: Much more withdrawn than before because he doesn't want to lose anybody anymore, thus making others perceive him as a solitary type of individual. As if his status as a Slayer candidate didn't people avoid him enough before.
* NeverFoundTheBody: Everyone simply accepted that he was dead after they failed to pull his body from the lake.
* NotGoodWithRejection: Once he meets [[spoiler:Rachel after several long years, she treats him with complete apathy. This causes him to lose control of the Thorn and go berserk.]]
* MeaningfulName: InUniverse example. The actual make-up of his name isn't really symbolic of anything, but the fact that the leader of FUG granted him his surname "Grace" as part of his alias, brings to question just how important Baam is to their plans, since their leader essentially adopted him personally.
* PowerOfTrust: He puts faith in the people around him to follow, and live up to their word, even if he, himself, acts out in a selfish manner.
* RageBreakingPoint: When he meets Rachel once again and she refuses to explain to him why she pushed him and left him for dead, Baam doesn't take it well. At all. Until now Baam was confused and felt betrayed, but Rachel telling him off was the last straw, making the thorn go berserk. A very pissed Baam then tells her that she is not going anywhere.
* RapunzelHair: Gains this after the timeskip.
* ShutUpHannibal: Chews out [[spoiler:Beta for the latter's attack on Baam's friends]] just so he can get his so-called revenge.
--> The reason you hated me wasn't for revenge...You just needed someone to hate.
* SuperMode: Has one on account of being [[spoiler: a living Ignition Weapon.]]
* SuperReflexes: During one episode of HearingVoices, Baam realizes his perception has significantly heightened.
* SupremeChef: Almost outright referred as such by Wangnan in comparison to [[LethalChef Yeon]]. [[BrickJoke Funnily enough,]] his best dish is "Prapato Sauce Spaghetti", Androssi's supposed favorite dish.
* SweetTooth: After the 28th Floor Test. You can see it beginning in the [[FunnyBackgroundEvent background]]. WordOfGod states Goseng doesn't let the team eat them due to being unhealthy, and thus [[CrowningMomentOfFunny Viole became the underground supplier of junk food.]]
* TokenEvilTeammate: Averted since Viole is actually a NiceGuy, but to other people it seems this way, with the rest Team Tangsooyook looking too normal to have a Slayer candidate as a member. [[spoiler:Koon points out how jarring this is when he first meets them.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: While he had a moment or two in season 1, he never really did much combat wise. [[CurbStompBattle Let's just say that's not the case anymore.]]
** He takes another level in badass after one year of intensive martial arts training, gaining knowledge and techniques from a multitude of schools and learning how to work them together seamlessly.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: Activating the Thorn for too long, compounded with meeting Rachel and being verbally abused by her turns him into a full-blown {{Yandere}}.
* WhatTheHellHero: Get's a pretty [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech harsh lecture from Hwa Ryun]] on how he risked everybody else's safety because of his mindless pursuit of Rachel, [[NotSoDifferent leading him to realize that he was acting just like her in a way]].
* WreathedInFlames: The effect his fighting style gives off, having his arms engulfed in blue flame-like energy while fighting at both close and ranged combat with them.

Koon Aguero Agnis is the son of High Ranker Koon Eduan and from one of the Noble families that first climbed the Tower. He meets Baam in the Second Floor's first test, and deems him interesting enough to accompany and aid him while they climb the Tower after Rak takes an interest in him. He becomes quickly one of Baam's closest friends. [[spoiler: Recently made an appearance in the second season and is still a ManipulativeBastard. He is currently in a team with Viole's old teammates to win the Workshop Battle.]]
----

* AntiHero: He is extremely ruthless at times.
* BatmanGambit: He is a master at this.
* BadassBookworm: Don't let his small frame and Light Bearer status deceive you, this guy knows how to fight.
* BrotherSisterIncest: People say that he and his half-sister Maria were lovers.
* CombatPragmatist: Just because he is a Light Bearer don't assume he is useless in close combat. Just ask [[NoodleIncident Chang Blarode]] or Xia Xia's assassin.
* CruelToBeKind: His response when Akraptor accuses him of [[TookALevelInJerkass being suddenly mean]], seeing that unlike Baam, [[spoiler:he wants Rachel dead]].
* {{Deuteragonist}}: The story focuses heavily on Baam, however when it isn't the perspective usually shifts to Koon's.
* InsufferableGenius: Subverted. He has quite a big ego, but is a surprisingly decent guy.
* JourneyToFindOneself: Why he started his journey up the Tower in the first place, and why he was drawn to Baam.
* FlashStep: Shown using it during The Crown Game.
* FragileSpeedster: When forced to fight. Subverted when it is implied he is much stronger than he appears.
* GuileHero: He is extremely skilled at manipulating others. He even manages to outsmart [[spoiler: a Ranker]] during Act 1!
* KnifeNut: His WeaponOfChoice
* KnowsAGuyWhoKnowsAGuy: Despite his sudden exit from the Koon family he has managed to maintain a good relationship with an unknown member of the family who holds a lot of power.
* LastNameBasis: Everyone just pretty much calls him by his family name, Koon. Even his teammates and Baam, his closest friend, just use his last name. The few times his first name is uttered are when someone calls him by his full name. Though Koon is estranged from his family, he still seems proud of his heritage and has never objected to just being called Koon.
* LoopholeAbuse: Aguero spends most of his time trying to subvert the Tower's rules, with mixed results.
* ManipulativeBastard: He is extremely skilled at manipulating others. Not even High Rankers are safe from this guy's ability to outwit others.
* MissionControl: He is a Light Bearer.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: Sergio "Kun" Agüero, Argentinian football player. WordOfGod says that the color scheme of the Koon family was inspired by the Argentinian flag after naming Aguero after Agüero.
* TheProudElite: Despite his immediate family's disgraced status, so much so.
* TheSmartGuy: Most likely to form (working) plans out of act 1 Regulars.
* SmugSnake: Prior to his CharacterDevelopment before truly befriending Baam and Rak he had shades of this. Still there by season two, but less obvious.
* SwissArmyWeapon: Manbarondenna.
* TheStrategist: In the Submerged Fish Test.
* TheWorfEffect: He gets hit with this often when it comes to playing XanatosSpeedChess with FUG [[spoiler:and Rachel.]]
* UndyingLoyalty: To Baam. After getting to know him and being influenced by his pure and innocent nature, Koon's basically become Baam's closest friend and ally. He's so loyal towards Baam that when it was revealed that Baam was an Irregular, Koon acted hostile towards him and refused to help him anymore. Then we find out that this was ruse to convince the others to agree to help Baam.
** Also his hatred towards Rachel counts. Despite knowing that Baam would probably resent him for killing her, Koon is attempting to do everything he can to kill her. Why?

%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

Rak is a giant alligator that unwillingly teamed up with Baam and Aguero in the first round of the Floor of Test, and has been a member of the team ever since. He loves to fight, compete and hunt the strong and is generally a strong and pretty straight forward guy with a lot of street wisdom. A great source of awesomesauce and comedic hijinks, as well.
----

* AwesomeMcCoolname: Wraithraiser. Or Wreckraiser, depending on translation.
** Of course, the [[SpellMyNameWithAnS original Korean pronunciation]] is probably closer to "Rak Lacration," which isn't... quite as awesome.
* TheBigGuy: Second biggest of the Act 1 cast (after Akryung) with physical strength to match.
* {{Badass}}: Bitch please. This is Rak Wraithraiser.
* BadassBoast: "A game without me... Is a game not worth winning!"
* BladeOnAStick: Fights with a spear.
* BloodKnight: His sole reason for entering the Tower is to find interesting people to fight.
* BoisterousBruiser: He is Badass and wants you to know it.
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: Although he comes off as a BloodKnight at first, he's actually one of the more compassionate people in the cast.
** Especially when he meets up with Koon in part 2.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: It's easy to underestimate him, given his hijinks and personality, but he was one of the best Spear Bearers of the E-rank Regulars, and considerably more perceptive than he looks.
** Despite hamming it up and complaining during his Spear Bearer training, Rak managed to match Akryung in the next to impossible feat of hitting an extremely distant target, earning an instant pass to the final test.
* CryCute: No, we're not lying.
* {{Determinator}}: Doesn't care about what is in the way or if he says he can't come back yet, Rak will bring [[spoiler:Baam]] back.
* EgomaniacHunter: Claims he doesn't care about climbing the Tower in the first season, he only wants to hunt the strong.
* TheFettered: His principles and integrity are pure.
* TheHeart: Yeah, despite being a hunter and pretty abrasive, he is one of the most decent and inspiring characters next to Baam, living a life in absolute honesty.
* HiddenDepths: For someone considered a dumb muscle, he is surprisingly perceptive at times. For instance, [[spoiler:he was one of the only people to realize that Aguero was faking his sudden rejection of Baam in order to manipulate everyone else into supporting him.]]
** Also, early on, he seems to have noticed how suspicious it was that Baam didn't know how the artificial "sky" for each Floor worked, which even Koon didn't catch.
* TheHunter: Of the strong.
* HuntingTheMostDangerousGame: His goal in the beginning.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: Anytime Rak decides to get out of his chibi form, asskicking ensues.
* InSeriesNickname: Gator.
* LargeHam: All over the place, but special mention goes to the Crown game.
-->"OF COURSE! A GAME WITHOUT ME IS A GAME NOT WORTH WINNING!"
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Wraithraiser.
* TheNicknamer: Tends to call people "turtles". The Zahard princesses are exceptions: Anak is "pesky lizard" and Androssi is "ghostly eyeballs".
* PaperThinDisguise: During the Workshop Battle, [[spoiler:he stays in chibi form, wears a cloak and a bird mask, and takes an alias. Baam]] isn't fooled.
* OnlyOneName: Rak is the only part of his name given, Wraithraiser is actually the name of his entire race.
* {{SizeShifter}}: He eventually gains space compression permits that let him reduce his scale to avoid causing problems in the Tower.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Is it Wraithraiser or Wreckraiser or Lekreisher? Apparently, it is actually Lacration. A lot of people pointed out that this sounds like [[UnfortunateNames Lactation.]]
* SuperDeformed: When chibified by Yu Han Sung.
** He has learned to do the trick himself by the Second Season by obtaining Compression Permit from the Tower's Guardians; all the better to stalk sneaky turtles....
* TenderTears: [[spoiler: Cries when he meets up with Baam again in Volume 2, having thought up until than his favorite turtle was dead.]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Loves bananas, for some reason. [[AllThereInTheManual Apparently]] likes them a lot but has a lot of difficulty peeling them.
* {{Tsundere}}: Oh deliciously for his prey.
-->"Without this weapon, you have no purpose! Of course I didn't get this because I cared about you or anything!"
* UndyingLoyalty: Like Koon, Rak is quite loyal towards Baam and is always worrying about him. He was heart broken when he found out that he was dead and years later after finding out that the possibility of Baam being alive might exist, Rak has been doing everything in his power to find him. When he does find him, he ''sheds tears of happiness'' and affectionately embraces him.
* VerbalTic: [[SelfDemonstratingArticle You damn Turtles! Turtles, I say!]]
* VitriolicBestBuddies: With Aguero.

!!'''Rachel'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/racheltog_7421.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

She is Baam's first and best friend, though she leaves him to search for a starry sky (aka absolute freedom). He follows her, the plot begins, and awesomeness ensues. [[spoiler: She later forms a team with Androssi and Akryung and might have been a part of the slaughter of 197 Regulars. She goes by the moniker Michelle Light after realizing Baam is in her test group. After betraying Baam, she climbs the Tower with Aguero, who knows what really happened during the Submerged Fish test and just keeps her with him as the last connection to Baam's murderers.]]

Like Baam, she is also [[spoiler: an Irregular, however Headon has stated that, unlike other Irregulars, she was not chosen by the Tower.]]
----

* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Yellow hair, yellow eyes.
* DamselInDistress: After getting [[spoiler: stabbed by Ho.]] However, [[spoiler: [[DeliberatelyDistressedDamsel she’s faking it.]]]]
* IllGirl: She loses the use of her legs after [[spoiler: Ho stabs her.]] However, [[spoiler: she’s faking it and fools almost nobody; the doctor who examined her said there was no lasting damage.]]
* MeaningfulName: According to the author's blog, her name was chosen because [[spoiler:"In Sherlock Holmes, there is a reference to the word Rache(Rah-he) that means revenge in German."]]
* NonPOVProtagonist: For a character who's almost hardly on screen, she provides a lot of fuel for the story and through a great deal of the main cast.
* RidiculouslyAverageGuy: Except for being able to use and endure Shinsoo… like everybody else.
** According to WordOfGod, she is [[spoiler: indeed an Irregular like Baam, which means she ''might'' have abilities we haven't seen... but if so, there's been no hint of them beyond that.]]
* SecretIdentity: Goes under the name of Michelle Light for a while.
* WalkingSpoiler: In fact, even the fact that [[spoiler: she ''can'' walk]] is a spoiler!

!Tropes that apply as of the Submerged Fish Hunt
!!Warning: Major Spoilers

* AntiHero: The author's blog says that she's one of these. She is certainly one of the most ruthless characters.
** ClassicalAntiHero: Her ''real'' introduction at the end of the first volume is devoted specifically to showing her lack of classical heroic qualities, and one of the main themes of the story seems to be deconstructing just what those qualities mean.
** NominalHero: Also possible, although it's hard to tell for sure since we don't know her full motivations or the details of the deals she's struck; it's possible that she's another type of anti-hero or just a straight-up villain.
* ArchEnemy: Thanks to her mistreatment to Baam, Koon wants her dead.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Attempts to kill Baam by pushing him into dark waters to be eaten, and has continued keeping up the act of being a helpless damsel in front of Aguero for the past five years. [[IKnowYouKnowIKnow And he knew, and she knew he knew; she was only keeping up the act so he wouldn't know she knew he knew and so when the time came she could stab him in the back first.]]
* CantCatchUp: Her manipulation skills are top-notch, but her over-reliance on having [[CrutchCharacter strong allies]] do the dirty work means her own skills don't grow as fast as they could, leading to Aguero outperforming her as a Light Bearer when they face each other in the Hell Train arc.
* EvilCounterpart: To Aguero. Both are lighthouse users who are skilled at manipulating others and both are/were friends with Baam. However, Aguero respects his allies enough to get his hands dirty to work alongside them while Rachel mostly sees her allies as crutches to get up the Tower.
* FaceHeelTurn: While there's evidence suggesting she was a ManipulativeBitch even when she met Baam, she did sincerely care for him. The combination of Baam being TheChosenOne and her being manipulated by Headon turned her away from that. However, while this was her FaceHeelTurn chronologically, in story, she's presented as taking this when she pushes Baam into the lake.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: She wants to be the heroine of the story, and will attempt to position herself as such by any means necessary.
** IJustWantToHaveFriends: At first, she envied Baam for being a MagneticHero, though she later settles for forming friendless alliances as the next best thing.
* IKnowYouKnowIKnow: Caught in a loop of this with Aguero now; he knows she's faking her illness and spies on her with his Lighthouse, but she knows his team is a fence to trap her because she spies on him with her Lighthouse. As of this writing, everyone seems to know what everyone else knows about what they know, so this trope may no longer be in place.
* InvincibleVillain: Her combat abilities are unknown, but she and her allies are always one step ahead of Baam and co, to the point where they can OutGambit Hwa Ryun, who managed to OutGambit an opposing FUG faction. Only time will tell if she manages to come out on top or turn out to be an UnwittingPawn.
* LightIsNotGood: Has light skin, light blonde hair, uses a pseudonym of Michelle Light, and is a Light Bearer. She also seems to be seriously messed in the head.
* ManipulativeBastard: Koon has seen through her ruses, though. [[spoiler: Unfortunately, he hasn’t spotted all of them.]]
* NonActionBigBad: Invoked. While she has some Lighthouse abilities, she admits that she'd rather just rely on stronger teammates to rise to the top. Which begs the question of why she discarded Baam of all people instead of using him as a direct pawn.
* ObviouslyEvil: Even Traveller, who has never seen her before, immediately surmises something is very wrong with her.
* SmugSnake: Gleefully prances about her room when she thinks no one’s looking, and has given “there’s no way you could understand my motivation” rants before.
* TheUnchosenOne: Rare villainous example; this seems to be what motivates her entire plot arc.
* WoundedGazelleGambit: Pretends that her injury makes her unable to walk to manipulate others into helping her.
